A hot single dad romance between one reluctant dog sitter and one sexy, hot vet. Delilah DanielsTemporary. That’s my life in New York. Eventually, I’ll have to move back home to New Orleans. In the meantime, I’m all about enjoying these years. Against my better judgment, I agree to dogsit for my friend. As I feared, it does not go well. As a matter of fact, it goes so poorly we end up at the vet- … goes so poorly we end up at the vet- the dog’s fault, not mine.
On the bright side, Dr. Herriot could star in his own veterinary reality TV show, if there is such a thing. The man is sex in scrubs. The vet might just become the highlight of my year. As it turns out, not only is he single, but he also needs some fun in his overworked life. And fun? That I can do.
Mason Herriot
My daughter is my world. The fledgling veterinary practice is my career and my passion. As a single dad, I couldn’t balance both without help from others. Some days, it doesn’t feel like I’m balancing anything at all.
Delilah Daniels walks into the clinic on one of those days. My partners are out with the flu, and I, once again, am stuck at work. I can’t even explain why I ask her out. It’s spontaneous. There’s an energy to her. A zest for life. And there’s something about how she cares for her friend’s dog. We aim for casual.
I may be a single dad, but I’m not blind. Delilah packs some curves and it proves hard to keep those dates family-friendly. In a nanosecond, casual loses all appeal. We can make this work. If I can convince Delilah her home’s no longer in the Big Easy…

Delilah agrees to dog-sit for her friend where she ends up in the vet office of single dad Mason. She is like a breath of fresh air and he know he needs her in his and his little girl’s life. This is a sweet romance with great characters.

A sweet and extremely easy story to read. How love makes you reassess your promises and being strong enough to take life by the horns.
Another first-time author to add to my summer reading collection. Walk the Dog is a super-fast read. If you can’t abide the insta-lust/love/connection thing, then this one is not for you. The storyline is interesting and the characters are fun. Mason and Delilah are good for one another, they complement each other’s personalities. Mason needs more fun in his life, which is Delilah’s specialty. Delilah needs to settle down and take more responsibility, which is Mason’s specialty. They are from two different worlds. Delilah is procrastinating beginning her reality and that’s where the problems start. As I said, you can finish this one in an afternoon of solid reading time. It moves at a good pace and the interactions and dialog of the characters keep things interesting. Plus, Kara is adorable!
I really tried, but I just couldn’t read this book. I only made it to 20% and gave up. My issue was the h Delilah. She’s spoiled, immature, materialistic and selfish. Deep down she is kind and caring, you see that in how she takes care of her friends dog, but she still comes off bratty and I just couldn’t get past that. The H seemed like a decent guy who also seems a bit put off by her, so I had a hard time understanding why he agreed to go out with her.
Maybe that’s what this story is about, her finding love and becoming a better person, I don’t know because as much as I tried to push through, I couldn’t keep reading it.
Don’t let my review holds you back from trying this book, I’m sure lots of people will like it. I’ve already seen some reviews and they all seem to be 4+ stars. I don’t like leaving negative reviews unless a book truly deserves it, but because I received a free copy, I agreed to leave an honest review.

He’s a vet
As in All things James Herriot.
So, Mason the vet with the last name Herriot, is great.
What’s not so great? Delilah. She’s terrible and immature and vapid.
Mason deserved better.
A little too fast & indecisive for me.
I liked the actual storyline ~ rich girl with no care in the world on a time-out before she is expected to take up her pre-arranged career, meeting responsible single dad under financial pressure. It was nice to see how her flower girl attitude loosened him up to appreciate life outside work and obligations. There was also a bit of a mystery at the start as to why she didn’t seem to have a choice but to eventually go back to her predetermined life.
It kept me reading to the end, however there were a couple of things I found a little distracting:
– Small issue – the daughter was unbelievably well-spoken for a 4 year old
– The biological mother showed up after years of not giving a care, and responsible Dad let his daughter go with her alone, well aware the mother would not have had any experience with a young child. Even more incredible, the child for whom she would have been a stranger went with her without a second thought. And where did that sudden interest in her daughter come from?
– The scene they get together for the first time was more of a business proposal than an explosion of attraction. I just didn’t feel it.
– A change of mind after one sees the ‘big picture’ is an accepted part of a love story . But these two changed their minds so often and so fast I felt like watching a tennis match on fast forward.
– The plot the heroine’s mother devised to get her to return home was disgusting. I could not understand why she wasn’t more upset with her mother for this kind of manipulation.
– She was portrayed an oblivious airhead with no consideration as to how her behaviour impacted others. She had made it in the advertising industry with a leading role offered to her without any family connections or help, so I found her being described as so thoughtless and flighty a bit unfair to her.
Having said that, the writing was eloquent and painted an image of the settings and backdrops throughout the story, creating pictures in my mind. I think if the author applied the same patience to her characters, the story would flow much better.
