USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the author of Blurred Lines and Love Story. Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the … Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.
Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

I love an opposites attract book because it’s always so much fun trying to figure who will compromise- and what they’ll compromise – to end up with the love of their life.
WALK OF SHAME is a classic opposites-attract love story.
Socialite and pampered party girl princess Georgie Watkins is living the dream life of any 20-something New Yorker. Dancing till dawn with friends and enjoying life, she starts to think she might be missing something a little more important in her life. When new neighbor Andrew Mulroney moves into her building the same day she does, it starts a little friendly war of words and barbs that show just how much they are different. She’s coming in from a night on the town at exactly the same time he is off starting his work day. Every day.
Both are drawn to the other for purely different reasons( of course!) but they struggle with finding the equal playing field they need.
This was a good story, as all Lauren Layne books are. Witty, quick, and cute. It’s told in two opposing viewpoints ( of course!), with Georgianna in first person and Andre in third. Luckily, the chapter headings gave you a clue when the POV shifts occur.
Another great read from a fun, flirty and prolific author. I highly recommend this for a fab summer read.
I like this romance book. The banter and wise Cracks were funny. The charaters had a pull. Not quite frennamies more circling each other. #romance #witty #neighbors
4 Perfectly Ridiculous Stars. I know that I’ll always get a sweet rom-com from Lauren Layne and that’s why she’s one of my go-to authors when I need pure entertainment. Walk of Shame delivers everything you expect from LL. If you like Disney princesses, and especially Enchanted, you’ll love this one!
Georgiana and Andrew have been frenemies since the day they moved into their Manhattan apartments. On the same day. When they had to share the elevator. Ever since then it’s been game on. It takes them a while, but they finally find something they have in common and Georgie figures they’re destined to be soul mates. Perfectly ridiculous. Walk of Shame is an adorable rom-com. You should read it.
Walk of Shame is my first Lauren Layne book and it is now the start of what I think will be a lot more to come. Where has Lauren Layne in my life and why haven’t I read anything from her until now? I certainly have been missing out.
I like to think that I’m one that reserves my 5 star ratings for books that are overly emotional or pushes my moral boundaries. Books that seriously make me feel. However, Walk of Shame just inched it’s way up to the top ranking with each sarcastic and witty word that was written. I was a goner from the start, just like Georgie and Andrew.
This is a hate to love story, kind of. I don’t think Georgie has it in her to actually hate anyone but it certainly has that vibe. From the moment they met, Georgie and Andrew have been battling each other. The “cold war” as Georgie calls it. The whit and banter between these two had me rolling in fits and I couldn’t get enough of them. And those moments when things start to shift and they really see each other, I totally swooned. THAT FIRST KISS!!!
I love how opposite these two are from each other yet they both are perfect for each other. They oddly balance each other out and just work. Georgie is sassy, full of life and full of hopes and dreams. She has a big heart and is ultimately looking for that happy ending. Andrew is somewhat uptight, likes order and can kind of be a jerk. Which is because ultimately he’s afraid of being hurt. Watching these two banter bank and forth and ultimately realize that they belong together was fun to watch play out.
Overall, I loved this book and I’m so happy that I FINALLY discovered Lauren Layne. If you are looking for that love/hate relationship with some awesome banter and overall swoon worthy moments, then this is the book for you. Get it now!
As the author so wonderfully describes it, this ‘Ode to the Happily Ever After’ was a gem. Full of smart and witty banter and well-developed characters. My only confusion was that the duo POV was first person for our heroine, but third person for the hero. Would have loved to read the hero’s POV from first person as well. This was my first Lauren Layne book and I will definitely be reading more.
Favorite Quotes:
The man’s a lesson in sameness, like some sort of anal-retentive version of Groundhog Day.
If you’re wondering what Andrew Mulroney looks like while he’s in workout mode, picture this: Thor and Captain America somehow defeat biology and have a love child together. And call him Andrew. You’re welcome for the visual.
Seriously? Okay, I’m done. I’m out. I hope the Wicked Witch’s flying monkeys carry you away and I never have to see you again.
“Please don’t put some sort of esquire spin on this,” I whisper against his mouth. He lets out a quiet laugh, pulling back just slightly. “Esquire’s not an adjective.” “Sure it is,” I say, trailing my lips over his jaw line, since it’s all I can reach. “Synonym: stodgy. Definition: prone to over thinking.”
I was named after both grandmothers, and I have to assume everyone thought I’d be very tidy and studious.
My Review:
I gleefully smirked my way through this delightfully amusing story packed with clever humor, witty banter, quick quips, and scorching hawt chemistry. I adored this smartly written and engaging storyline and treasured the charming and appealing characters who timed their morning routines to sync up precisely at five a.m. every weekday to verbally spar and trade barbs in the lobby of their building. I savored this sparkling tale from beginning to end and find it must be among the best of Ms. Layne’s considerable library of work. The writing was crisp and lively and the sizzling sensual scenes had me mopping my brow and gasping for air. It was crazy good and ridiculously perfect.
Walk of Shame was the first Lauren Layne book that I have read and I was not disappointed! It was a great read that was just enough of a romantic/funny/sexy story that I had to go back and TBR all of Lauren’s other books! This book was a great story about two people from two totally different worlds annoying the hell out of each other. Until it becomes so much more.
Georgie is a socialite who spends all of her time working on charity events, going out with friends every night, brunching with the parents every weekend, hell, she’s one busy girl!! Most importantly, she always made sure to be in the lobby of her apartment building at 5:00 a.m. SHARP so she can annoy the very rigid lawyer, Andrew, who refers to her as ridiculous every time he speaks with her.
Andrew is the best divorce lawyer that money can buy. However, he is very set in his routine, hardly ever smiles or socializes and annoys Georgie just as much as she annoys him. Little does Georgie know that Andrew enjoys their little encounters just as much as she does.
This story had me from the first chapter! Honestly, I was sucked in when Andrew was described as the love child of Thor and Captain America! That’s a story I can get behind!!
I absolutely love the banter between Georgie and Andrew. Even though Andrew is just so proper, he can really hold his own against Georgie’s quick wit and you can just feel the chemistry and wonder how they just don’t act on their attraction to each other!! It was nice to read a story that the main characters don’t jump each other’s bones within two chapters. I really enjoyed the game these two played, getting almost to the end before they finally give into their desires. AND IT IS AMAZING! Andrew is like Clark Kent…all business but when that suit comes off, HOT DAMN!!
Walk of Shame will be one of those books I go back to over and over because it is “perfectly ridiculous”!!
Walk of Shame
I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I really love the fact that the author took the time to tell the story. She did not rush it, which actually seems to happen a lot in the Romance novels. I have read a lot of Romance novels that will start out with a great story and then rush through to the end so fast it loses the potential, it started with, to be a wonderful book. Lauren takes to time to lay out the plot and introduce the characters and taking that potential and turning it into a Great book. The story was well thought out. The princess and the frog. I love the chemistry between the main characters Andrew and Georgiana. The sexual chemistry is amazing. I found the book not only romantic but fun. There were several moments of laugh out loud fun and moments of sadness. I like the mix of characters and it was easy to imagine being there or maybe watching it on the big screen. The book was captivating. I am definitely interested in reading other works by this author. Happy Reading!!!
If you’ve read a Lauren Layne book, you’re well acquainted with how well Layne writes characters. You get a couple of pages into the book and you feel like the leading lady is a real person and you want to hang out with them immediately. That’s how it is with every single heroine that Layne writes. Georgianna is no exception – she’s this funny and extremely witty chick that you just want to go hang out with. She’s unapologetically ornery and I found myself rushing through the pages just hoping for her next snarky comment or staged scene. Georgianna is perfectly ridiculous and if I weren’t so into my husband (and dudes, tbh), I might totally fall in love with her.
And Andrew. Sweet, baby Jesus … I can’t even put into words how much I just absolutely adored this stubborn man. Something about this dude was just sexy as hell. I don’t know if it was because you could tell that he was a great guy underneath that indifference or what. Maybe it was because I don’t think he knew how attractive his stubbornness was, especially when it started to crack. I better stop now before I give anything good away.
Of course, true to Lauren Layne form, this book was just spectacular. It moved along at a fast clip and I just didn’t want to put it down. Actually … I didn’t put it down. I got the boys off to school, made some coffee and then read all day long. This is the kind of book that will ruin other romance novels for you – it is completely perfect and perfectly ridiculous.
* I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *
This 3rd book made the series the perfect trifecta!
If you ever wondered what the young and beautiful look like, act like, or what their lives are like, I would suggest a Lauren Layne book. In Walk of Shame, Love Unexpectedly series, Georgianna Watkins and Andrew Mulroney collide with meteoric sparks! They are from two different worlds but are so perfect for one another. And WoS is a story about how they come together.
Georgie is an heiress who does that “walk of shame” every morning, right at the time that Andrew is starting his busy day. Andrew is a celebrity divorce attorney, one who works so very hard, has a genius IQ, and is from a working class family. These two literally spark, each and every time they meet.
Each has pre-conceived notions about the other, of course, and it isn’t until they let down their individual guarded walls that they can begin to explore the chemistry between them. I really liked these two. They both have hidden depths that they don’t seem to share with anyone, least of all each other. Georgie’s family is what you’d think they should be but I have a soft spot for her father. And Andrew has great love for his family – he just has trouble expressing that emotion. There are the requisite flighty friends, of course, but these two are just wonderful characters. I think the author nailed this story.
Walk of Shame (Love Unexpectedly) by Lauren Layne
This is heiress Georgianna “Georgie” Watkins and celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney’s story.
This was a really fun and entertaining story! Georgie and Andrew are opposites but they are perfect for each other. I loved the banter and chemistry between them.
I loved this story! I was was hooked from the beginning to end. The sex scenes were minimal but the ones it did have were really hot and steamy! This is a must read! So, kick back and escape into Georgie and Andrew’s world.
