Vampires don’t lust after humans, but Reese changed everything. She woke something inside me. It happened in an instant. I saw her. I wanted her. I had to have her. Not just her blood-I wanted her body. Something I haven’t desired in a hundred years. I didn’t plan on falling in love. She’s mine and now that I’ve found her, I won’t be able to move on. But the more I’m with her, the more I realize … found her, I won’t be able to move on.
But the more I’m with her, the more I realize there is something dark and dangerous lurking. I can’t stop it and Reese is paying the price.
My love is killing her, but I can’t stay away.
Waking the Watcher is the first book in The Watcher Series.
Each book can be read as a stand-alone, steamy paranormal romance.

This was really enjoyable read. This was a totally new, unique, and unexpected twist on the vampire story. I can’t wait to see what Devin and Seriel get I to in the next book.

Waking the Watcher
Kim Loraine
Waking the Watcher is an extraordinary read!
That can turn any non-PNR into a fan! I’ve never been one for PNR!
Like it would give me a rash! That is how bad my aversion the subject was! Well, that was until I read and audio listened to Waking the Watcher!
I was immediately pulled into its vortex, its realm and was so drawn to the storyline. I didn’t even get more than 3 hours sleep that night!
You can say I was like a junkie needing its fix! So I devoured it, consumed it and plain old drooled all over this story! WOW!!! This erotic fantasy will have you dropping everything! For that one taste of its divine ecstasy and pleasure!! A hands-down #oneclick!!! That can slay me any day!
So this is a paranormal story, hmm?
The only ones I’ve read are from Anne Rice and lately by Sylvain Reynard, can’t go wrong with SR!
This is my first from Kim, a new author for me 🙂
It is not that paranormal at all, well, it has vampires and Heaven and Hell battles, but the
very interesting and entertaining point, is that it is a very human premise , heart and soul, love and lust with lots of hot scenes…
I liked the feel of the book.
Galen is a vampire, who meets Reese, somewhat innocent but not completely naive. He feels a deep connection he doesn’t understand. He never felt it before and he is not the only one.
Galen shares this weird situation with a fallen angel who has been dormant in his mind and body and awakens when he meets Reese.
Coexisting is hard and that’s not all, Reese is very suspicious about the intensity in Galen’s behavior towards her…
I’ve listened to it, a great audiobook and an amazing narration by Will M Watt and Susan Fouche. Can’t wait to hear Devon again! 🙂
Twists and surprises keep you listening. I’m really looking forward to the next book!

STORY:
This book was a little crazy mix with a huh? This story follows Reese, 23 and has the pressure of wanting to get rid of her virginity. One night she meets Galen, who is a century old vampire who is desperately in need of feeding. After a taste of Reese sexually and by blood he becomes obsessed and can not control his need for her. This awakens (the watcher) inside Galen, thus beginning a a strange ride. The whole sharing a body thing was annoying, but it was different as well.
Galen to me was sexy, I think his constant need for Reese weirdly is what gave him that appeal to me. He can be a bit sensitive, but internally with what’s going on it makes sense. Reece was very naive I felt at times, but seeing her slowing come around made this an interesting read. There was a lot going on even including fallen angels and it sucks you in, so I was entertained. The one thing I didn’t like for me personally was the religion aspect of it.
CHEMISTRY:
Wow, so I noted Galen is obsessed with Reese and couldn’t get enough of her. With this, the watcher has woken which to me is almost like a male version of a succubus because sexually OMG they kept going at it. It was a good intensity but can get boring when it’s too much.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
There were a lot of interesting characters good and bad that made this story appealing.
OVERALL, a good read, maybe confusing for some, and it may not be others cup of tea. Although I enjoyed this, not sure if I will continue the series as it’s a cliffy and there are 3 books.
TRIGGERS: as noted before it may or may not be a trigger but some religious aspect of this book.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I love PNR, so I went into this one with everything, I did enjoy it, Galen being a vampire and Reese a girl that wants to get out of her shell and finds herself in a world she didn’t know existed, then we get a bit of a twist with The Watcher Sariel. Each book is different but all related so you need to read them all to understand it.
I enjoyed every single exciting, intriguing, and captivating moment of this story. This was definitely something different for me, but I loved it.
Waking the Watcher by Kim Lorraine is the 1st story in the Fallen Angel trilogy. This was a unique spin on angels and vampires. It took me a little bit to get into this storyline, it was a little slow at first. It started picking up and building depth and I ended up enjoying it. I am looking forward to reading the next one!!
Wow…Waking The Watcher is a sizzling and scintillating read. I was surprised by the beginning of Galen and Reese’s tale. Hahaha… I actually stopped and checked to make sure it was the right book. Galen is very alluring with his broody, protective and surprisingly loving personality.
I liked how his character develops in their story. Starting off kind of one dimensional and then peeling back the layers and discovering there’s much more to him.
Reese is strong, daring and surprisingly level-headed given the situation she finds herself in.
The two complement each other and I liked their chemistry.
I can’t wait to dive into Devin’s story.
This was a neat twist on the vampire novel. I liked the idea of the watcher being in the background and then emerging. Galen and Reece had an interesting relationship and it kept the surprises coming. This was my first book by Kim Loraine and I look forward to reading more of her work.
SO.FLIPPING.GOOD!
Seriously, from start to finish I was totally caught up in a spell that is this book! From page one it was sexy, intriguing, and completely original. I have never read a book quite like this. The plot, the various supernatural creatures, the incredible imagery Kim Loraine brings out through her story is truly amazing.
Gosh dang, Galen is one sexy beast! His dirty talk was overwhelmingly sexy but his strong love and protection was what made him all the more alluring. This man was irresistible!
And Reese, damn this is one strong woman. To be caught in this fight between heaven and hell, between “monsters” and humans. To go from innocent human to the sole purpose of Galen’s life. Through it all she persevered and it was quite a sight to behold.
This book was stunning and intriguing as heck!
FYI…Devins “sacrifice” warmed my heart like no tomorrow <3
Such a fantastic book!
This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last! I haven’t read a paranormal book in so long and Waking the Watcher made me realize what I have been missing. I FLOVED this book. It’s a wonderful combination of mystical beings, hot sex, romance and suspense. I can’t wait to dive into book two, Denying the Watcher!
I enjoyed reading this book
Holy Crow. This book was amazing. Well rounded emotionally and beautiful characters that made you love them and laugh with them. Fantastic plot and very original in my opinion. This book was great I loved it from beginning to end and would highly recommend it.
It was okay. And again another book where I didn’t understand why the two characters like each other.
After reading the books of angels by Nalini Singh, my taste has becoming demanding in this type of theme
Good book kept my interest was a little confusing going back and fourth with one of the main characters (when he was being taken over by the angel)
Steaming
Steamy with a twist! I got sucked in while I was looking for something new to read and now I have purchased the second in the series. Can’t wait to see what happens with these characters!
