Brinley has run away from home, and for good reason. The young witch is to be married off by her father to a rude upstart of a warlock, and she doesn’t understand why.Setting out on her own, Brin meets Garrick. With the witch very sick of men telling her what to do, the two don’t get off to a good start. And spirited Brin doesn’t bat an eyelid when she finds out the tall, handsome stranger in the … stranger in the vintage suit is, in fact, the Dragon King of Europe, and more than that, he’s centuries old.
Initially, it seems an unfortunate coincidence that Garrick and Brin’s fates are more intertwined than they could have imagined. As the twenty-five-year-old witch’s powers begin to fully manifest, it becomes clear that she has a role to play in helping Garrick and his council of immortals save the magical world.
As they work together, and a plan begins to form, her and Garrick’s feelings for one another grow as well. But can he give her the space she needs to become the witch she is supposed to be? And will Brin realize that love is right under her nose, and that first impressions should sometimes be discounted?
Content Warning: Explicit love scenes and lots of sexy shifters. Intended for 18+ audiences.

Brinley is a spunky witch thats running from her father trying to marry her off to someone she hates. Garrett is a grumpy behind the times Dragon King that gets smacked upside the head with Brinley. This is an enlightening story about the journey of mates, and saving the world from evil. Loved the characters and the story line.

Brinley a powerful witch from her mothers side hasn’t quite learned how to control her magic but she has no intention of been sold by her father to another warlock so they can use her to increase their power and take over So she runs and takes her mothers spell book with her. She is tired and heads into a bar where she sees a man that looks like he is stilled trapped in the 60’s she cheeks him and he isn’t impressed but he feels a spark of interest for her What she doesn’t know is that his name is Garrick and he is the king of all the immortals and is thousands of years old It is him that her father and his cronies want to overthrow Can they work together to save everyone and will the attraction between them grow Will they get a HEA You will have to read to see

Garrick is an ancient dragon king and Brinley is a young witch.
She runs away from home to avoid being sold to a warlock. What he wants more than a wife, is her family spell book. But, because the book only opens up for fami!y, she is part of the deal.
Brinley ends up with Garrick helping her, while she starts to awaken feelings in him. Lots of action, romance and some sex.

Garrick, the Dragon King of Europe and many centuries old, was tired of all the changes around him. Everywhere he went, they were modernizing to stay with the times. Well he was done! He’d been eating egg and chips at Ellie’s for fifty years now and she was upgrading her place into a coffee shop — he was done moving with the times. This was it. He was stopping here. Everything bored him.
Brinley was a runaway witch, searching for other immortals and getting very tired of carrying the heavy spell book she took from her father. Her father had arranged for her to marry the warlock Xander and she wanted none of that plan. She didn’t know they wanted to use her and the spell book — which actually came from her mother’s side of the family — to gain great power. But walking all day, she was getting tired and desperate enough to go into a human establishment when she finally spotted a glimmer, felt a tickle, and saw the pub sign for The Gimlet.
She recognized the barman, Harry, as a vampire. The man she sat next to wasn’t looking at her, so she asked for a cigarette. The pack was Lucky Strike, no warning label, not the current packaging — these were ancient! His hair was filled with greasy product. And she told him the 60’s wanted his suit back! Harry, the bartender, half-laughed and scurried away! Brin was an empath and could feel Garrick processing her. Her hands sparked at his mild insults, then he said the little witch is powerful but can’t control it yet. She got down from the barstool and walked over to a table instead. No one had spoken to him like that in a long time.
Brinley wanted to talk to Garrick and saw his home in her mind. He almost ran her over with his bike as he drunkenly raced in the dark onto the roadway, nearly causing several accidents that she somehow “spelled” him out of to keep him safe. Then she sat in his doorway and waited until he came home from the council meeting. The council took his bike from him and made him fly home in dragon form before he ran over someone. He found the little witch and brought her inside out of the bad weather. When he told her the council may replace him and he didn’t care, she pinched his arm! If he didn’t maintain leadership, Xander could take over and would harm humans. It was becoming clear, as she gained more of her powers, Brin has a role to play in helping Garrick and his council of immortals save the magical world and the fate of the humans. By working closer together, they just might realize they are falling for each other. Will they realize they are mates? Will she give her dragon a reason to live again?
This was an adorable story with a dragon who has seen it all and done it all and lost his zest for life. His meeting the spunky, feisty young witch was perfect! The banter between the two of them will have the reader laughing loudly! The story line is fast-paced and very satisfying to watch all the goings-on to straighten out the bad guys trying to rule the world! Don’t miss this fun adventure and see if Brin and Garrick can finally realize what they have together!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Waking the Dragon by Alexis Davie is a stand alone read. I really loved Garrick and Brinley’s story. The only thing that would make this better is if this was a series opener. The characters have chemistry from the start. Witty salvos fly as dragon meets witch. There is a strong set of secondary characters with which I would love to get better acquainted. Action packed with snarky dialogue and steamy love scenes (Mature Readers Only Please), this addictive story will have you craving more of… well… everything! I highly recommend this read to anyone who has enjoyed Annie Nicholas or Sarah J. Stone.

Garrick, king of all immortals and 5000 years old is bored and a king in name only when two things happen on the same day: he meets a young witch, who challenges him and shows no respect to his name or position and the Council, who is ruling all immortals tells him to act as a king, as he is being challenged by a group of warlocks, who want to overthrow the old ruling system.
2 reasons to bring him out of his ennui, and when Brinley, the young witch gives him more information about the plot and the people behind, they discover that their meeting was more than just accidental.
A good story – although in the beginning Garrick seems anything but an interesting character.

Brinley was being sold to another warlock to get more powers from her family spell book, but Brinley stole the book from her father’s office and took off to the east end of London. There she met Garrick the king of Dragons and over the immortals in the city. Brins father will do anything to sell her off, even offer other witches and warlocks to capture her. These warlocks plan to take over the world and control the humans with the spells found in the Valentine spell book.
The characters are a great part of the story, steamy love scenes between Brin and Garrick and when they both realise they are fated mates, the temperature heats up. A great story all around.

I enjoyed this story. It was easy to read, just 133 pgs I think. At first I wasn’t sure I’d like it because at the start it looked angsty. However that didn’t last for long and while there is drama it was never drawn out. The characters were not sympathetic to begin with but they grew on me. The H got with the program faster than the h but then he was 5000 yrs older so it stands to reason. There was enough sex in the story. The scenes were fairly short which left room for the plot. The editing was good also. Overall all I ended up enjoying the story and would definitely recommend this book.
