Beltran Varik believes in science.
It holds all the answers he seeks.
Except for one.
How in the world did he end up falling in love with two werewolves?
Of course, there was no way science could account for the beauty, warmth, and mind-blowing sexiness of Wyatt and River.
The two shifters are outcasts from their own kind and must seek the protection of a vampire.
Bel might take them in out … protection of a vampire.
Bel might take them in out of a need to keep them safe, but his feelings for them grow into something so much deeper.
Unfortunately, Bel might have to choose between his wolves and his family as a fight brews with the local werewolf pack and the Variks face a darker threat from the Ministry.
Waking Bel is the third book in the Lords of Discord paranormal romance series. This book is an MMM and contains vampires, werewolves, nosy brothers, music, science!, Ozzie the raven, so many first times, hope, dirty talk, and a love that will never end.

I love this series. I just wish there was more than 4.
Each book in this series just gets better!! Bel is the nerdy scientist of the family. I can actually picture him in his bow tie! Wyatt and River are outcasts in werewolf world because they are gay. When their paths cross, sparks fly! I highly recommend reading!!
I’m not a m/m/m reader(to each its own),but I read this book because it was part of a series I loved & I love The Varik men. I enjoyed the book even though I ugly cried a time or two. The book was a page turner for sure. Looking forward to Winter’s book
I’ll keep this short. I you love to read about vampires, werewolves, family found/chosen this is the series for you. I didn’t say book because in theory it can be read as a standalone, but for better understanding and enjoyment you should start with the book one in the series. I love just about everything about it. Great world building, wonderful, unique and complex characters, banter, loyalty… In this installment scientist Bel finds not one but two mates. It’s always the quiet ones… Established relationships in the Varik family are developing, there are enemies to defeat, secrets to be revealed. Can’t wait to read Winter’s story!
I loved Bel’s story, and sat up reading a couple of very late nights as I had to find out what happened next. The author made me sniffle. I enjoyed learning more about Bel’s ability, and of course Ozzie steals the scenes he’s in, as always.
The characters are fabulous. I loved Bel, Wyatt, and River together, and how Bel kept telling himself he was an outsider and they couldn’t possibly want him that way. The sex scenes are hot, and the love these men have for each other is very obvious, not only in their words, but by their actions. Bel is so sweet and geeky, and yet I wouldn’t want to cross him. He’s formidable especially when he’s protecting those he loves.
I love the Varik siblings, and the way any conversation degrades into fun and bickering. I love the way they have each other’s back, and I enjoyed seeing more of Winter in this story. I’m looking forward to reading his book! I liked the further exploration of Rafe and Bel’s twin link in this too. I hope Aiden gets his own book, and I’m curious to learn more about him after the hints in this story.
The world building is fabulous, and I liked how it expanded in this story to include werewolves, and in particular why the vampires hadn’t heard of them. As a side note, Sofia rocks, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her. Ditto for Maggie.
The action scenes kept me turning pages, and on the edge of my seat. These guys go through so much to not only be together, but to survive. There is loads of hurt/comfort, which made me very happy.
This is a series I’m going to have to get for my hardcopy collection. The combination of fabulous characters and world building, plus vampire musicians, werewolves, and action scenes hits all my reading buttons. More please.
What happens when you join vampires and werewolves? You get an awesome book to read! I loved Waking Bel. This story is full of humor, intrigue, passion, kindness, generosity of spirit and HEAT!
Wyatt and River are two werewolves who have experienced so much pain and loss. All that changes when they connect with Bel (Sweet Bel). This absentminded scientist has the purest of hearts and will go to any length to do what is right.
I loved the dynamics between these three men. Everything that happens between them is organic, true and beautiful. Add in the rest of the Variks and you will be beyond entertained. I have loved each book in this outstanding series and I am eager for Winter’s story!!!!
So, so good!
I have been anxiously awaiting this next installment in the Lords of Discord series. While I’m not a patient person this book was worth the wait.
The story is fantastic. The third Varik brother, Bel, finds his HEA in this book…with two werewolves. It’s always the quiet ones.
We get more background on the family and there is more world building. While the threats against the Variks from the Ministry hover in the background here the action and immediate threat comes from a different corner.
We learn more about Bel’s gift and about Ozzie. We also get a bit more information about elusive brother Winter as a lead up to his book. The writing is crisp, emotional, humorous, suspenseful, and clever. The crisis moment is heart wrenching and the ending is sweet, hopeful and inspiring. In short, there isn’t a base this book misses. Highly recommend!
After reading the previous installments of this series, I was already charmed by Bel. Absent minded, concentrated on his studies and sometimes detached from the outside world, he was the sweetest of the brothers, with an innocence to him the others tried to shelter.
By the end of this book, though, I was completely in love with him. I got to see his fierceness, protectiveness and loyalty, his humor, passion and sultriness. Considering his affinity with animals, somehow I expected him to be mated to some kind of shifter, but not TWO. Bel, Wyatt and River together were beyond stunning. The buildout of feelings between them was wonderful to witness and their chemistry so hot it almost melted my ereader.
Also, the Varik clan were awesome. More and more in trouble, always trying to distinguish friends from enemies, plotting and fighting, searching for a way to stay alive. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath and excited to see how they’d dig their way out of danger.
I loved Waking Bel and I’m looking forward to Winter’s story. It’s bound to be bada** and I can’t wait!
This series just keeps getting better and better. There’s the expected action, love, humor, and family (the Variks are simply awesome). This time it’s Bel’s, the absent minded (evil) scientist, story to be told. He is so sweet, adorable and kind hearted that you just want to squeeze him into a tight hug. But when he has to protect those he loves, those fangs come out and the enemy better watch out. Wyatt and River are so sexy and perfect for Bel, forming the perfect triad. And let me tell you, they are so hot together….steam coming off my Kindle. Wyatt and River are a great addition to the awesome Varik family (snarky, sexy and loveable). And there’s also the action, the other kind of action that keeps you hooked. The trio face their own outside trouble that’s needs to be stopped, threatening their HEA, along with the Varik’s continuous trouble with the vampires council. And of course can’t have this story without the other Varik family members, adding more humor and troublemaking. Can’t wait for Winter’ story and then hopefully Aidan’s.
Jocelynn Drake’s vampire series has been a delight and Waking Bel hit all the right notes. There’s plenty of romance and hot sex alongside the continuation of the Varik family’s struggles to remain true to themselves amidst the chaotic politics of the vampire community. It’s fun, erotic, and a perfect escape read. You probably don’t absolutely have to read the first two books to enjoy this one but because there’s an overarcing storyline, you’d be better off starting with the first book, Claiming Marcus, and reading in order because really, these are top-shelf reads!
