Amanda Knox spent four years in a foreign prison for a crime she did not commit, as seen in the Nexflix documentary Amanda Knox.In the fall of 2007, the 20-year-old college coed left Seattle to study abroad in Italy, but her life was shattered when her roommate was murdered in their apartment. After a controversial trial, Amanda was convicted and imprisoned. But in 2011, an appeals court … an appeals court overturned the decision and vacated the murder charge. Free at last, she returned home to the U.S., where she has remained silent, until now.
Filled with details first recorded in the journals Knox kept while in Italy, Waiting to Be Heard is a remarkable story of innocence, resilience, and courage, and of one young woman’s hard-fought battle to overcome injustice and win the freedom she deserved.
With intelligence, grace, and candor, Amanda Knox tells the full story of her harrowing ordeal in Italy—a labyrinthine nightmare of crime and punishment, innocence and vindication—and of the unwavering support of family and friends who tirelessly worked to help her win her freedom.
Waiting to Be Heard includes 24 pages of color photographs.

I must confess to being one of the many who judged this woman by media, then I read this book. Amanda’s story. But with a cocked eyebrow, because who wants to admit they might be wrong? By the time I got to Chapter 32 I realised I was a fool. Such a powerful read, and so haunting.
“My rather naive teenage son/daughter wants to study abroad. What could possibly go wrong?” Read this book to find out.
One of my favorite book genres is that of the memoir or autobiography.
I seek out memoirs from all historical periods, geographies and walks of life, and I choose them based on many criteria (familiarity with the author’s life …
Not very well written
I really liked this book after following her case almost from the beginning. The tragedy for everyone in this case is that there are no winners and all lost so much. Whether you believe her story or not this is a tale of perceptions, rush to judgement, unjust legal processes etc. It is worth the read.
This is such a devastating story. It seems that Amanda Knox, a lone American undergrad newly arrived in Perugia, Italy, was railroaded by provincial detectives trying to make names for themselves and a judge who was indicted the day after pronouncing her guilty of murdering one of her friends and roommates. It seems that she was condemned in their …
It was scary how the Italian police system used Amanda and questioned her for hours when she spoke limited Italian. I really wanted to hear about this story. Thank you for writing the book.
Anyone who has had a daughter study abroad would be terrified by this book. My daughter did a semester abroad in Florence and so this story captivated me. I listened to the audio version which I loved. I have often been dismayed with the US legal system but this book made me very thankful that we have a much better system then Italy. A great read …
20 year old college student Amanda Knox from Seattle is finally going to go out on her own, to study in Italy for a year. Shortly after moving in with several other women there, her roommate is brutally murdered. Unbelievably, the Italian police are convinced she is the killer.
Here is this naive young woman trying to help with the investigation, …
An incredible, informative and detailed account of her murder charge, trial ordeal, imprisonment and appeals. She holds nothing back.
Really enjoyed it and do recommend it!
Amanda could find a better job than writer.
It’s one of the best book I’ve ever read
A bit of insight on the judicial system in other countries. Excellent read
