Is hate still hate if it’s built on a lie? From the author of ‘The Brides of Pecan Grove’ and ‘Fake Fiancee Fiasco,’ here comes another sweet romance you just don’t want to missMegan Brooks is as mean as she is beautiful. She’s sarcastic and judgmental, but no one else knows she makes elaborate soap in the shed she built in the backyard. Or that she uses people’s horoscopes to close business … Or that she uses people’s horoscopes to close business deals.
Nick Brewster is an introvert, a bestselling writer, and a man who’s never quite gotten over Megan Brooks. When he bumps into her after years apart, he jumps at the chance to make her his muse.
He should have known nothing with Megan would be easy. She’s irritating and mean but Nick has always known that underneath her smart mouth and prickly exterior, Megan Brooks has a heart of gold.
He just needs to make her see it.
Getting a second chance at love has never been sweeter in this small-town romance full of love, laughter, and family.

Megan and Nick have known each other since they were kids. Once the best of friends, Nick still isn’t entirely sure what happened, but seeing Megan in town again has him thinking about the future they never got, and what went wrong.
Megan Brooks is happy with her corporate job and the life she’s made for herself; at least she was until she sees Nick Brewster again. She knows she hurt him once but maybe there is a chance they can be friends again. Then her mother steps in, again. The mother that she dearly loves and that ruined everything once before. The mother that taught her all the wrong things.
This time around Nick is determined things will end differently but will their home town ever accept the new Megan?

Well Megan isn’t a likeable person & that’s what she wants everyone to think esp since she tried to get her ex back & break up his relationship. A lot stems from her upbringing esp her mother.
Nick was once her friend & could see right through her however it ended badly for them. When they reunite years later there’s still an attraction between them. Nick is having a writing block & sees her as a muse of sorts.
There’s a lot of push/pull going on esp with their past history.
I think Megan redeemed herself in this & Nick was a very upstanding guy. A nice tale.

This is my first Natasha Queen book and I was so wonderfully surprised. I LOVED this book. I loved the beautifully complex and flawed main characters. I think we’ve all known someone like both Megan and Nick – two people who show so little to the world of what is really going on in the deepest recesses of the hearts and minds. One thing that the author worked into the story was letting us observe and truly understand how toxic Megan’s mother was and the damage she did. She was obviously a narcissist and seeing her in action was very powerful. Watching the protective layers both Megan and Nick carried being gradually being peeled away as the story moved along made me want to stand up and cheer them on! I’m a voracious reader and this is by far one of the best books I’ve read in the past year. HIGHLY recommend. 🙂

I was fascinated by the two main characters in this book–Megan whose mother’s sick view of the world impacted her daughter and made her into a mean and sarcastic beauty and Nick, the man who loved her even when he didn’t like her ever since he was 12 years old. Their complicated relationship kept me turning pages until the HEA at the very end! I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntarily given honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Megan and Nick’s love for each other is unique. With every love story there becomes a setback. Megan Brooks is a head strong, and self sufficient women. With a toxic mother Megan has a hard time finding loyal friends. She thinks they will be better off without her. Nick Brewster is kind and will do what it takes to make people see the good in themselves. With his writing career at a halt he tries to find a way to start it again. With Nick’s new idea he wanted to show the world what Megan was like under her armour. This book had twist and turns that kept you guessing. With characters so strong it was hard to put down. You will love this story, and I highly recommend to everyone.
Great book and can’t wait for the next book by Natasha Queen.
Megan Brooks is still the mean girl of Pecan Grove. She has a full time job, a mother who is a perfect piece of work, and her true joy in life is making time to create her soaps in the shed behind her house.
Nick Brewster has been out of touch with Megan for the last 10 years, so with a terrible case of writers block he needs Megan to be his muse. He knows beneath her hard closed off self is the woman he has loved since they were kids.
Natasha Queen writes a beautiful story of second chances, this is a great book by a new author I looking forward to continue reading.

Natasha Queen has delivered another hit! Set in the small Texas town of Pecan Grove, we are introduced to the ultimate ice princess that everyone loves to hate (just not to her face), Megan Brooks. She’s beautiful, rich, successful, and alone, but only one person knows who is behind the facade.
Nick Brewster is a very successful author, but is having a bout of writer’s block. When he runs into Megan at the new coffee shop, his memories take him back to high school, his first love, and his last conversation with her. He could always see through Megan’s mask she wore for others to see. She broke his heart, but he’d gotten the last word. Nick decides to use Megan as the main character in his new book. He knows that he’ll need to peel back all of her layers to find the core of the complicated woman.
Sit back and enjoy this unraveling of how someone can be molded by words and actions. Read on to reveal the path of frenemies to lovers.

Being a bit of an insecure person myself I can really see Megan’s true self. How a mother like hers can even exist is beyond my comprehension. Megan’s mother fed her so much vitriol and convinced her she was unworthy of love and to use her beauty to decimate everyone else.
Nick allowed what he perceived from appearances to make his decisions, but then he was young and had no idea Megan’s mother had such control over her.
This a great book and shows us that people are not always what we see. Maybe I get it because since youth I’ve wondered what motivates others.
Natasha Queen’s ability to turn an unlikeable character into someone to root for is masterful. It was especially refreshing to see how the main character was able to honestly take stock of her life, take responsibility for her past actions, and own it. I appreciated that she took the time to develop Megan and Nick’s characters in a way that made sense. Wonderful easy read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. *I received an advanced copy of this book.
Really enjoyed reading this book. It held my interest from beginning to end. Megan and Nick are wonderfully written, complicated characters.

“Waiting on Her” by Natasha Queen is an insightful book, analyzing the psychology of Megan Brooks, the heroine who thinks she is unlovable and unlikeable, just because her mother told her so. Megan is an ice princess whose heart finally thaws when her old high school flame, Nick Brewster, who still loves her, with all her flaws and failures, decides to teach her to love herself, just as much as she loves others. Megan finally finds the love that eluded her all her life when Nick calms the storm in her heart. The crowning moment in their love story came when Nick bravely declared his love for Megan in front of the entire town. Ice princess Megan’s heart thawed, melted and the moment of realization dawned when Megan finally realized that she loved Nick too, in a love that braved all the odds to last forever. The book fittingly ends with the apt conclusion that it was just a matter of time. What is to be will be. True love will always be revealed sooner or later. Love never dies. Natasha Queen is a master wordsmith, adept at the art of describing matters of the heart with great skill and expertise. She keeps us spellbound and focused on the story as it unfolds. I recommend Natasha’s books to all who want to have a really satisfying read.
