When ER nurse Nora Sellers is hurt in a hospital scuffle, firefighter Zach Walker blames himself. Blaming himself is nothing new. He’s been blaming himself for years for the trauma his baby sister endured as a teenager. Though with his happy–go–lucky attitude no one would know it. He’s good at his job, he’s a good brother, and a good friend, but Zach decided long ago he wasn’t husband and father … father material.
Even so, when Zach learns Nora is a single mother with a house that needs his help, he can’t walk away. After a few days with Nora and her ten month old son, he knows he doesn’t want to.
But Nora’s wary. She learned at a young age that the only person she can count on is herself. Now with a baby, a job, and a fixer–upper house, the last thing Nora wants is a sexy firefighter, making her heart flutter. But Zach is more than what he seems, and the more she gets to know him the harder he is to resist.
She’s been brave all her life. Can she be brave one more time and take a chance of a lifetime with her heart?

What an incredibly sweet story! I have had some amazing luck with the books I’ve read this far and Waiting For You was a sweet, feel-good, heartwarming and swoon-worthy romance.
Nora and Zach had incredible chemistry. Even though both felt that connection, they each had incredibly valid reasons for being hesitant. With Nora being such an independent person, she knows that not relying on someone is better than being let down or disappointed. And Zach is an incredible caregiver and protector, but if he keeps his distance and avoids being relied upon he can avoid the fear of disappointing them. Two peas in a pod. Don’t you think?
This just left me feeling all gooey by the end. A perfect read when you’re in the mood for an easy and not too sweet love story. Nothing about this story was overly heavy with its story line. It was perfectly balanced to deliver a realistic and entertaining story of modern day love.
A great steady calm realistic love story between a firefighter and a nurse. They both have a lot of baggage and unsolved things from the past. None of them are searching for love or relationship but it happens little by little. Zach involves in Nora’s life in many ways and he searches excuses to see her. Fear could ruin everything, will they be brave to take a shot for love? I enjoyed reading this book, such a great family story with great characters. I liked both Zach and Nora, they were both very likable and realistic. Their attraction and chemistry are lovely written. I hope that Luke story will be great on too.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
This is one of my favourite author and when she writes about single parents I enjoy the story even more.
Nora is a nurse and a single mom,she is fairly new to town when she meets Zach, a good looking firefighter, who will help her to fix every problem her new house has and in the meantime he will
take down all her reservations.
I liked their journey and I’ve appreciate Nora’s strength, she is so independent and she really believe she doesn’t need any help but at the end it is beautiful to learn that is so much pleasurable to share the weight of this life with someone who loves and understands us.
I can’t wait to read more book in this series…please Mrs. Connor give us more of these characters soon.
I love books with children and families, so the McKinney/Walker Brothers Series has been one of my absolute favorites since Matt and Abby was introduced.
Zach and Nora’s story was so heartwarming along with little Will. I am thrilled that all the Walkers have joined the huge McKinney family in all of the gatherings. I did miss JT and Paige and the adorable Casey. Great epilogue as always!!
Zach Walker is the light hearted Walker brother, but the reader knows that he has a bit of a shadow on his soul, related to his sister Hannah’s abduction and abuse many years before. It manifests in feelings of inadequacy and fear of commitment. It all changes, much to his surprise when he meets Nora, a nurse. As in Nick’s story, it is Hannah who shakes the tree and brings Luke to his senses. Nora is my kind of character: strong, smart, independent. Loved this story.
I absolutely loved Zach and Nora! Zach is a firefighter who loves to take care of Nora, who is a nurse, with a 10 month old son named Will. She had moved to town. Will’s father is not in the picture and she wants to start fresh. She has bought a house that is a fixer upper. Zach volunteers to help her with some of the fixing. With each project, he is moving into Nora’s life and heart. Definitely a must read! A heartwarming book! 5 stars
I am so happy that we’ve gotten another book in Connor’s McKinney/Walker series. I totally love these books. It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for it but the great thing is that it turned out to be worth the wait. If you’re a fan you’ll get my joke. If you don’t get it to start reading! I just love how this book started out with one shift at the fire department pranking the other. I wish the author added more of this to her book. There is a good amount of interaction between Zach and his coworkers, I just thought them giving each other a hard time was cute.
Poor Nora, she is such a hard worker to have this accident happen to her right as she started her new job could have been a big misstep in her life instead it brought her Zach and his crazy family. Something she really needed in her and her son’s life.
I just swooned with the was Zach acted towards Nora’s son. He was so cute with him. I love a man who loves a kid.
I’m glad their relationship isn’t all smooth sailing. No ones are. They needed the rocking road parts to really prove to each other that they’d be there when they needed them. Even with a few backslides.
If you like realistic characters with deep family values, you really should pick up a book by this author. She never fails to gives you great heroes and happy ever afters. Zach is the type of hero we love. Reformed ladies man, a man in uniform(firefighter) and a good person. He has a little bit of a commitment issue. When he meets Nora, the nurse and single mother makes him want to change. Her 10 month old is also a draw. Nora has her own commitment issues. It’s not easy for her to trust. Can these two get past their insecurities and get their HEA? of course, this author would never let us down. another good, sweet romance with winning characters.
Waiting for you is such a beautiful story of two people that find one another when they least expect it .
Nora and Zach could each be the one to complete and bring out the strenght in one another. Nora is a single mom and ER nurse. Zach is a fireman has been labeled as a bit of a player but in his defense I think that he hasn’t found that right someone….until Nora.
They are sweet, funny, caring, sexy and soon begin to become that differnet and better person due to being with one another . Their meeting and relationship has each one of them growing in their own world and it is just amazing to watch . Loved them !!!!

I’m a big fan of this author. Have been since 2014 when Worth the Fall came out. And even though I’m terribly behind on my TBR pile (which does contain several Claudia Connor books), I happily picked this one up from Netgalley and dived right in, secure in the knowledge that I’d love it. And guess what? Yeah, no surprise…I loved it.
First of all, Claudia Connor writes grown-up books. I’m not talking about X-rated stuff, mind you. (Even though the sex scenes are sufficiently spicy for the genre) I’m talking about good old fashioned, low angst, feel-good romances featuring smart heroines and heroes who aren’t domineering alphaholes and who actually TALK to each like real life adults. Her characters have real-life problems and real-life responsibilities, which makes them so much more relatable than the billionaire-rockstar-shifter-manwhore-virgin types you so often find in Romancelandia. Her books are always a refreshing break from the wackadoo nonsense that seems to plague so many other books. (*cough* The Magic Cupcake *cough*) (link to review)
Nora is a great heroine. She’s a smart, determined, hard-working single mom who doesn’t waste time having pity parties about her sad past or plotting how to snag a man. Her son is the light of her life, and I loved that about her. I also liked that she was smart enough to admit when she was in over her head with her home repairs and was willing to graciously accept Zach’s (the hero’s) help. (I can’t abide romance heroines who desperately need help but refuse it out of sheer stubbornness. Smart women know when they can handle matters on their own and when they should ask for help. Asking for help doesn’t make you any less of a feminist. End of PSA.)
Zach is a tender-hearted, nice-guy hero. (And y’all know I LOVE me some nice-guy heroes). Watching a former “let’s keep it casual” guy fall ass-over-elbow for Nora, who didn’t really want anything to do with dating him at first, was a pretty fun ride. (And it doesn’t hurt that he’s super sexy and helps take care of the baby. I ask you: is there anything hotter than a hot guy taking care of a baby? I think not.)
So, long-story-short, I highly recommend this one. It can be easily read as a standalone. Happy 1-clicking, folks!

Claudia Connor is an wonderful storyteller. In a very short period of time, I read Waiting For You, the fifth book from The McKinney Brothers series. This novel focuses on Zach Walker, a firefighter and recurring secondary character from the earlier books in the series. ER nurse Nora Sellers is a single mom, and she is Zach’s love interest in the story. Both characters suffer from tragic pasts, which prevents them from committing and finding true love. Once they meet, hey share an attraction that cannot be denied.
I enjoyed this sometimes emotional and heartwarming story. Zach and Nora are an engaging couple, and their sexy times are hot and passionate. Ms. Connor evolves their romance with hope and longing. Nora’s ten-month-old son is a real cutie, and he is easy to love. If you are looking for a well-written romance with characters that are simple to connect too, then pick up a copy of this book.
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
I’m quickly discovering that Claudia Connor should be an auto-buy author for me. I just simply love the way her stories evolve. This one was fabulous…reluctant hero and heroine, who just couldn’t help themselves. The best moments between the hero and the baby, Will…MELT MY HEART!
I’m ready for more Walkers!
I love Claudia Connor and I love her books. After reading Worth the Risk, I wanted Hannah Walker’s four yummy brothers to each get books. Then Worth the Wait came out(Nick’s Book) and I was so excited to read it, until I read it. It was a total disappointment to me. So when I seen Zach’s book on Netgalley I was a bit leery to get it. I love Claudia Connor’s books so much I figured Nick’s book was just a fluke and decided to give Zach a try. I was right Waiting for you was such a good read. I just loved it so hard.
Zach was everything I ever loved in a Claudia Connor hero. He was sexy, strong, sweet, caring, loyal and had just enough of a damaged soul that he made you want to kiss it and make it better. Nora also had some issues from her past, but she was smart, capable and very likable. Zach and Nora was very sweet together, but Zach and Nora’s son Will melted my heart. I was really glad there wasn’t a ton of drama in this book. Overall I loved it and I can’t wait the read Luke’s book.
Playboy Zach Walker meets nurse Nora when he brings a drunk driver to the ER. When the drunk driver ends up injuring Nora, Zach can’t seem to get Nora off his mind. He begins to spend time with her and her son and starts to realize just what he’s been missing and what he’s been looking for in his life.
Nora is not looking for a relationship. She’s had some bumps in the past that have her wanting to stand on her own but as hard as she tries, she just can’t forget Zach and how he makes her feel.
I adored Zach’s and Nora’s story. It’s a quiet story of two people falling in love and having to decide on happiness. It was really sweet in so many ways and Claudia Connor does what she does best by making my heart swoon over Zach’s interactions with toddler Will. There’s a lot of heat between Zach and Nora too, but she’s just as shy as he is when it comes to committing to their relationship. Nora really has to be wooed by Zach and he does an awesome of job of it!
There’s lots of interaction between the Walker and McKinney families in this book, especially between Zach and Hannah that I loved. Like the rest of the Walkers, Zach’s life was influenced by their family tragedies, and it was great to see Zach’s true happiness with Nora and Will, and how his siblings and were happy for him too. It made me want to go back and read Hannah’s story, which made me want to read Nick’s story and had me going back to Matt’s and so on and son on. Any book that makes me want to do a reread of an entire series is a 5 star read for me!
If you are looking for lots of drama, Waiting for You isn’t it – but if you want a really sweet love story and happily ever after, it does the job.
An ARC was provided for review.
I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw that this book was coming. There is nothing better than a Claudia Connor contemporary romance. The family she has created in this series is big, loud, fun, and once they fall they love hard and deep. The books in this series never fail to leave me feeling warm and fuzzy with a great big smile. This book is no exception. This one like the others is fun and romantic with low/no angst and a passionate slow build love story right at the core. Zach and Nora worked wonderfully together. He wants to help her and she’s smart enough to know she needs the help. Zach never saw himself as a family man but spending time with Nora and her baby have him looking at life a little differently. I enjoyed how their relationship began, grew and built up with a nice easy pace making it feel real and natural. Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.
A great story about a player and single mom finding love when they least expect it. An instant connection and great chemistry makes for an entertaining read. Definitely a great addition to this series.
It is hard for me to describe with words the warm fuzzy feeling I always get with a Claudia Conner book. I get such a strong feeling and visual image. For me it’s like slipping into a really warm bubble bath on a cold winter’s evening, with candle light, no kids bothering you, a really good book and all the time you want to soak and relax.
Zach and Nora are both a little skittish about getting involved in a relationship, but they slip into it seamlessly, without really noticing. While there is a bit of conflict, the only true angst for me is trying to keep all the McKinneys and Walkers straight in my head. I love how Conner’s books are so family oriented, especially the heroes being great examples of what a partner should look like. A real pleasure to read.
WOW!!!!!!! Oh my god! I’m in love with this book, these characters and Claudia. This amazing 6 star story had me hooked with the blurb. A firefighter and a nurse.
Zack has been staying away from commitment and attachement. That is until he meets Nora, an er nurse. But Nora comes with a little baby boy Will. Zack never thought they were his futur. Nora is not ready to commit to another relationship but how can she not fall in love with him.
This story has special meaning for me, first as nurse myself. By the way the medical and nursing knowledge were spot on. Second, I love firefighters, Zack reminded me of Matt Casey in Chicago Fire. This story was written with heart and soul. Her storyline captured my undivided attention all throughout. Beautifully written with an addicting plot. I’ve read every book that this author as ever written so it was nice to see where the other previous characters were at.
What I look for in a story in order for me to love it, are the characters. They were perfectly created for this story. I love Will because children in stories just makes them so much sweeter. Bottomline in this a 2019 must read.
Told in the third person with an amazing HEA. I can’t wait for Luke’s story. I strongly recommend this story. It can safely be read as a standalone.
WAITING FOR YOU is the fifth instalment in Claudia Connor’s contemporary, adult THE MCKINNEY BROTHERS , McKinney/Walker cross-over romance series. This is firefighter Zach Walker, and single mother/ER nurse Nora Sellers’ storyline. WAITING FOR YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion. Zach is Nick’s brother (Worth the Wait #4), and Hannah Walker (Worth the Risk #2).
Told from dual third person perspectives (Zach and Nora) WAITING FOR YOU follows the building relationship between firefighter Zach Walker, and single mother/ER nurse Nora Sellers. A freak accident in the ER found Nora Sellers struggling to look after her son, and the repairs at her new ‘fixer-upper’. Feeling guilty for the injuries incurred by our story line heroine, firefighter Zach Walker offered his services to help Nora with the big and little jobs around the house including help with her ten month old son Will. What ensues is the building relationship between Zach and Nora, and the potential fall-out as Nora’s past resurfaces bringing issues of trust back to the present.
Zach Walker doesn’t do relationships, and struggles with the what-ifs and whys. Meeting Nora Sellers gives Zach a hope for the future, a hope that will be dashed by Nora’s inability to let go of the past. Nora Sellers battles between head and heart as it pertains to letting Zach Walker into their lives. A single mother with no family of which to speak, meeting Zach and his extended McKinney/Walker family is more than Nora is able to handle.
The relationship between Zach and Nora is one of immediate attraction but Nora’s only concern is her ten month old son, a child whose only support system is our story line heroine. With only a week on the job, Nora will come face to face with her future, and the man who would steal her heart. Zach Walker knows he wants Nora Sellers but convincing Nora he is no longer the player she believes him to be, is a lot harder than expected. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Abby and Matt (Worth the Fall #1), Hannah and Stephen (Worth the Risk #2), Nick and Mia (Worth the Wait #4); several co-workers from the hospital ER, and Zach’s fellow firefighters, as well as in the introduction of Zach’s brother Luke.
WAITING FOR YOU focuses on family, friendship, brotherhood and love. The premise is entertaining, engaging and captivating; the characters are charismatic and spirited; the romance is seductive and flirtatious. WAITING FOR YOU is a wonderful and inviting story of romance and love.
There are times you come across an author whose stories touch your heart and stay with you for a very long time. That was the case a few years ago when I came across this author’s book, Worth the Fall and became a fan forever.
Ms. Connor’s books are not the suspense, action packed kind, but rather they are the ones that hook you within the first few lines, gently draw you into the characters and make you experience their feelings.
This time the story belongs to Zach Walker and Nora Sellers. Their trajectory is at times heartbreaking , touching but also heartwarming. There will be moments when you’ll wish you could give them a hug or a good shake !
Nora’s and Zach’s loss of their mothers in their young formative years, has made them who they are today. The feelings of abandonment, loss, and fears of loving and losing stops them from making commitments of any kind.
Somehow fate has her own agenda. But will Nora and Zach embrace the possibility of hope and love or will old fears stop them from finding a happiness in that someone special that has already taken a place in their hearts?
For those that have read the McKinney books, you’ll get a chance to visit with some of the characters, and if you haven’t read them, I highly recommend these wonderful stories.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
