A new second-chance romance from Kristen Proby about a sassy single mom and hot billionaire!
When their days in high school came to an end Willa Monroe thought her and her high school sweetheart Max Hull were going to get their happily ever after underway, but Max did the unthinkable and walked away. He wanted something that didn’t involve sticking around Cunningham Falls, he had big plans for himself, and he thought Willa would follow him. But her idea of “what’s next”, was completely different and it wound up costing him everything.
In one fall swoop he lost his girl and a big portion of the future he had in mind. So he left, headed to college, and hoped she would change her mind about things, and she did, just not the way he thought. She wound up moving on, and started a different future for herself altogether, and that stung more than a little. Losing her has haunted him for years now, and he’d give anything for a second shot. Little does he know his second chance at love is about to come knocking…
Waiting for Willa is a heart-wrenching tale of forgiveness, second chances, and learning to let go of old wounds. When a wedding brings these two back into each others lives, it’s obvious that the love they once shared is still there lingering in the shadows, all they have to do is find the courage to let it back in. But that proves to be a little harder than anticipated because they both have past wounds to deal with and it holds them back a little, but once they start to deal with that it becomes evident their love and attraction is very much still alive!! This wonderfully crafted tale had me flying through the pages until the wee hours of the morning, once I met these characters I just could not let them go, I had to know what was in store for them! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, Ms. Proby’s beautiful words will penetrate your heart and leave it forever moved!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
This entire Big Sky Series is terrific, but Waiting For Willa is over-the-top fantastic! There’s just something about a second-chance romance, especially when it’s been several years and a lot of life has happened for the main characters. But gird your heart and grab the tissues, because this one has some heavy emotion.
Max and Willa were childhood sweethearts until Max decided Cunningham Falls was too small for his big dreams and left. Now that he’s made his millions, he’s back home and wants another chance with Willa. But Willa isn’t the same person she was ten years ago. She’s gotten married, had a baby and made a home. Now she’s a single mother to a nine-year-old boy and she owns a dress shop in town.
This is a quick easy read that really hits the heart. There were some incredibly touching moments which, based on the synopsis, I can’t tell you details of without spoiling things. Let’s just say there is a slight paranormal element and some things between Max and Willa’s son, Alex, with Max sharing memories of his best friend, that are truly beautiful. As we can always count on with Proby’s books, this one has the humor and heat to go along with the heart, and it’s definitely a 1-Clicker.

You can never go wrong with a Kristen Proby book. So glad to be back in the Big Sky world!!!
I love Kristen’s small town stories, and I’m a sucker for a second chance romance!
Sexy and funny!
This is a small town, second chance romance about a hot billionaire and a sassy single mom. It’s a tear-jerker, it’s funny, and the swoon is off the charts!
Beautifully romantic, tearjerker. Heartfelt and emotional!
Definitely a new favorite!! Max and Willa despite their past have finally got their crap together and finally come together. The epilogue was just perfect and yeah the feels that this book brings is amazing.
I love that we are seeing new people around as it starts me thinking of who should end up together
Wow! Just wow! Kristen’s writing is off the charts!
Meet Willa, widowed mom of Alex. Her husband Cary died in a freak accident while out with his best friend Max. Willa and Max used to date till he left for college. She blames him for losing Cary.
Fast forward 9 years, and Willa runs into Max at Cary’s grave, and they forge a new friendship, he’s there to help her, but he still loves her. Can he convince her to take another chance with him?
Follow their story in this amazing book, I love Kristen’s writing, this book will have you laughing, swooning, but keep the tissue’s near by! 5 Montana stars for this one, grab this now!!!
And there we have it–my favorite in Kristen Proby’s Big Sky series! Waiting for Willa is the third full-length novel–but fourth release–in Proby’s spin-off series set in the same small Montana town of Cunningham Falls that her Love Under the Big Sky introduced readers to a few years back. I’ve enjoyed the series so far, but you know how you have that one book that just gets to you and it becomes the one that has your heart totally invested in the story and the couple involved? That’s what Waiting for Willa was for me, and while the reconciliation felt rushed (I’ll explain more later!), this reminded me most of the authors’s writing in her With Me in Seattle series of books.
I loved this second chance love story, and it was one that had it’s share of angst interspersed with a whole lot of romance and lighthearted humor. Single parent stories also hold a soft spot, and Alex was as much a part of the story as Max and Willa were. This was, after all, a love story that went beyond just one couple. This was about forgiveness, moving forward, and it was, ultimately, about family. I mentioned earlier that it felt rushed right after Willa decided to bury the hatchet with Max, and maybe they were trying to make up for lost time, but yeah, it was like they were moving fast forward instead of just forward. Still, I love Waiting for Willa enough to give it five stars.
What a beautiful story about never forgetting your first love. It’s taken 9 years for Willa and Max to be reunited. Even then she still feels guilty. One for still loving Max even after all these years especially being married to Cary during that time. Max never stopped loving Willa even when she asked him to leave her alone when Cary died. Max also feels guilty being with Willa because of Cary. But it has been 9 years since his death and its time to move on. Cary would want Willa to be happy and Max is the perfect man for her. Max develops a great relationship with Alex. Such a beautiful bond these two now have. This story was such a beautiful and true love story. Written with so much emotion. Written with patience and understanding. You relate with these characters and feel everything they are going through. A loving and heartwarming 5 star read.
4 Sweet and Swoon-Worthy Stars!
Waiting for Willa had my heart from the very first page. From the moment I read the prologue, I found myself near tears and heartbroken. I knew Willa’s story was going to be a special one and I couldn’t wait to explore it further.
Waiting for Willa follows the story of Willa and Max. Willa and Max were childhood sweethearts and had the kind of love that dreams were made of. However, life took them down two very different paths and tore them apart. While Willa may have moved on, she never forgot her first love. Now, many years have passed and fate has decided to intervene and reunite these two former lovers. Willa is not the same girl Max knew. She’s a single mom and business owner now. But, when Max walks back into Willa’s life, all bets are off. Time may have passed, but their fire still burns hotter than ever. Will Willa and Max get their second chance at love? There’s only one way to find out…..
Is there anything that author Kristen Proby can’t write?? When it comes to sweet and sexy romance with an alpha flare there is no other author that I would turn to other than Kristen Proby. Her stories are so well written, so full of heart. And Waiting for Willa is just the latest novel of hers to capture my heart. Waiting for Willa sucked me in from the very first page and left me hanging on each word. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Willa’s strength, determination and heart. And Max…Max wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes, but he owned up to them. He loved big and he loved hard and wasn’t afraid to love everything that came along with Willa. Together, these two just made the perfect match. They interacted with one another like magnets. They just couldn’t stay away.
Waiting for Willa is a beautifully written second chance romance and a great addition to the Big Sky Series. I loved everything about this story from beginning to end and loved seeing Willa and Max fight for what they both wanted. Willa and Max’s story captured my heart and left me with a huge smile on my face.
4 Swoon worthy Stars.
Kristen Proby always seems to write for us these wonderful characters that you just can help but fall in love with. She has you cheering on the relationship very early in the book. When she adds in a well mannered you man who for the most part respects his mom, I am hooked.
Being a widowed single mother hasn’t slowed Willa down at all. She is determined to give her son Alex everything he will ever need. Opening her own business and balancing life is not easy by any means but they make it work. She has a wonderful support team behind her but it still gets lonely from time to time.
Max left Cunningham Falls in his dust, off to college and better things. He achieved all those better things but finds himself back in his roots. Closer to his family and friends. Trying to keep his distance from the one woman he has ever loved. Until that closed door opens just a crack.
Max reaching out and showing interest in Alex could be the start of rebuilding his relationship with Willa. Will she let him back in or are the tragedies of their past too much to overcome? Can Willa knock down her fears of loss for what could be a beautiful love?
A super second chance romance full of sweet and sexy emotions, family and friends for the small town lover. Easy to read with great flow, I devoured it in a day.

Kristen Proby is a wonderful author who can write deep feelings in her characters.
I love the Big Sky series because these books are about people, about everyday life, it is almost like reading about your best friends.
Willa Monroe and Max were childhood sweethearts. But, Max had big dreams and ambitions and decided to leave two. She has moved on with his best friend, he accepted his fate and they both moved on (but not really…). Now, Willa is a widow single mother and a successful business owner, and the heartbreak of losing Max was a very long time ago, but he returned and this time it is for real and is looking for some roots.
Their relationship is develop in a slow pace and we get to know this couple as well as they reacquainted. I just loved this book and look forward to the others of the series.
Kristen Proby has done it again! Waiting for Willa was a second-chance romance that delivered lots of feels with a small-town vibe. The opening scene had me reaching for a tissue. But fear not, the tears didn’t flow freely throughout. In fact there was a lot of smiling and even more swooning.
Because Max. Sweet mother of all things awesome. I loved how he put Willa first. Her wishes and needs. Alex. He was such a kind and thoughtful man when it came to Willa. I liked Willa she was a bit broken and a lot sorry for the way she had treated Max in the past.
I liked, and Max loved, that she saw him for the man he was and not the boy he had been. She liked him for who he was and not what he had- and he had a whole heck of a lot. When she opened the door to the possibility of more, Max barged right in. He took the chance he had always wanted and this time he wasn’t going to walk away. The feelings came on fast and strong for these two. And there was nowhere for them to go but forward.
While Waiting for Willa was a straight forward romance- without a lot of drama, it still packed quite the emotional punch. Kristen Proby made me want to crawl inside of this book and live in it. The pain. The guilt. The fear. The forgiveness. The hope. The love. So much love. Willa and Max prove that love always deserves a chance.

“Why didn’t you call me when he asked?” “We were having sex at the time,” I say with a laugh. “Um, we need to change your proposal story. That can’t go in People magazine.”
My Review:
I enjoyed this cleverly amusing second chance romance, it was a pleasant and snappy read with crisp writing and fun and an entertaining plot. The characters were lovable and highly appealing and even included a curious child with a cute puppy. The storylines were relevant, engaging, and well balanced with healthy servings of levity and heart squeezes with a refreshingly low level of conflict and angst. This is only my second exposure to the lovely Kristen Proby, with both experiences being top-rate. I excitedly perused her impressive listing and just realized I am extremely late to the party with Goodreads listing sixty-eight books to her credit.
5 Stars
This story is a beautifully written book about love, loss and moving on. Willa has been through so much and raising her baby boy alone was never what she imagined. Years later they are doing great and in walks her first love, best friend to her late husband, the irresistible Max. What follows is a story that will take you through the entire gamut of feelings. Your heart will ache, you will smile and laugh, you will love seeing the evolution of a second chance for this couple, while dealing with the bumps in the road due to their pasts. This is an outstanding book that you need to pick up today!

Awww, what a wonderful feel good story! The characters are relatable, the problems realistic and the joys & trials of family life right on point. The tricky subject of taking a chance on love together after a tragic loss (her husband/his best friend) while honoring the memory of the loved one was handled beautifully. Full of heart, emotion & more than one misty-eyed moment, this second chance romance may just be my favorite Big Sky book!
Willa and Max are a great couple, this is a second chance book that I could not put down. Willa is trying to raise her child as a widow and Max is trying to give Willa her space since she told him too. But when you live in a small town that’s not very easy especially when all your friends are close. Kristen Proby did not disappoint with this great book. I live this series and this is the book that I was waiting for. I highly recommend reading.
