My goodness! All the feels. ALL. OF. THEM. I absolutely adored this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an amazing, steamy, romantic, angsty read!
I have been waiting for Willa and Max’s story forever. It was so worth it. This story was everything I hoped for and nothing quite like I expected — which is exactly how a story coming from the unstoppable Kristen Proby usually winds up being.
Studiously avoiding Max Hull since he has been back in Cunningham Falls because of a yet-to-be disclosed past, widower Willa Monroe tries to live her life without acknowledging the loneliness she feels even with wonderful family, friends, and a thriving business.
Max has spent the time away from Cunningham Falls becoming outrageously successful and feeling enormous guilt knowing that Willa can’t bear the sight of him.
It takes someone close to Willa, someone who becomes vital to Max, to make them realize they have another chance to make it right. Even then, forgiving someone is often easier in your heart. It can take a while for your mind a while to catch up and relieve you of the burdens you’ve been carrying for too long.
“’ . . . ’ , .”
I absolutely don’t know where to begin! We saw Max and Willa tiptoe around each other in Kissing Jenna and I was instantly intrigued with their back story. I knew it would be good, I had no idea it would also be so heart-wrenching though.
Theirs was a complex relationship loaded with lots of history and heartache. But, sometimes you get a second chance because you weren’t quite ready the first time, and no one deserves a second chance at happiness more than Willa and her sweet son, Alex. And Max was just the person to offer them that shot at happiness; not only wooing Willa, but also building a strong bond with Alex too.
Watching these three navigate to a new sense of normal was beautiful and endearing. Kristen Proby delivers another five star read; from the prologue to the epilogue, you’ll be hanging on every word.
Wow, I’m practically speechless. There is so much I want to say. First of all Max and Willa’s story is so beautifully written like all other Kristen Proby books. I have read almost every book written by Kristen and proudly say that I am in love with them all. Like all Proby heroes, Max is handsome, sexy, smart, swoon-worthy, and a heart-of-gold. Willa is just like all other heroines that Kristen Proby writes about, she is smart, sexy, strong in character, and beautiful inside and out. I cannot leave out Alex. Alex is Willa’s son and he is a hoot!! I love Alex and Rocky(the dog) just as much as I do Max and Willa.
Max and Willa had a relationship in high school. While Max wanted to see and experience the world, Willa just wanted to live her life right here in Cunningham Falls. Max broke Willa’s heart by leaving and not returning for a really long time. Willa moved on, marrying Max’s best friend, Cary. Both, Cary and Max loved skiing. During one of Max’s trips home they went skiing and Cary was quite reckless and sadly loses his life. Both, Max and Willa cary a ton of guilt over that day. Finally, with a little intervention by his best friends Max decides to try developing a new relationship with Willa and her son, Alex. Both have reservations, worries from the past, and guilt about Cary. Will they skip a second chance at first love? Well, you will just need to read Waiting for Willa by Kristen Proby to find out the answer. Keep the Kleenex handy too. It was also super great to catch up with prior characters from the Big Sky Series. I also found myself wondering which single characters were going to be next in this series. I love big family/friend sagas and this series delivers all the feels!! 5 stars*****
A true love story. Max and Willa are perfect together. Throw in a little Alex, and you’ve made a family that works. Loved all the interwoven dreams. This one knocked it down the slops (had to use a skiing reference).
