Willa has had her heart broken before by Max and she’s not looking to have it broken again. When Max comes back into town and is staying there he makes it known he wants a second chance. Will Willa be able to open her heart again to her first love? After all, he left her once before because he wanted the lights of a big town and that’s not her kind of place.
Max is trying to show Willa that everything he’s ever wanted is actually there in his hometown because that’s where her and her son Alex is. Will he make a believer out of her? Loved that he never looked at Alex other than a friend and then a son. He was able to open his heart to both Willa and Alex and now he just needed to make sure that Willa let him all the way back in again.
Sweet second chance romance.
After losing her husband in a terrible accident, single mom Willa Monroe is content with her life in Cunningham Falls with her retail business and son, Alex. Even though she misses Cary, she has her family, in-laws and friends. She doesn’t need anything or anyone else, especially her ex-boyfriend Max Hull, to disrupt her life. But Max has plans to right his wrongs and show Willa he’s never stopped loving her.
I love how we see so many people from her previous books make appearances. They are protective of Willa while still encouraging her to try and make it work with Max. Max knows he made a mistake hurting Willa in the past, and he will do whatever it takes to show Willa he’s not going anywhere. Another great read! Looking forward to the next book!
Every time I pick up a book by Kristen Proby, I know I’m getting strong developed characters with history and an unbelievable storyline that continues to sway me to read, until the book is closed and finished. Waiting for Willa was no exception and delivered on all counts.
Proby takes us back to Cunningham Falls and to a couple that shares a past. First lows!
Max is such a great loving character. Being a self made billionaire, but also just a regular nice guy that hasn’t let the abundance of money corrupt him. He has been “waiting” for his second chance with Willa for years and it’s one he doesn’t think he’ll ever get.
Willa is a wonderful, strong, single parent, and business owner of a local clothing store in Cunningham Falls, MT. She feisty in the best ways. She loves what she does and loves being a Mom to Alex. She’s seen her share of loss, but has also managed to start a business and build a life for her and her son.
Alex, OMG clone this kid!! He’s polite and well behaved even if he does get into a little mischief here and there. He is Willa’s life and the small piece Cary left behind.
This story has it all, loss, love, challenges and triumph. A love story you will, if like me, read in one sitting and then have remorse that it’s ended. Oh and true to Proby’s other books, there are other Cunningham Falls peeps that make appearances in this book as well and a few new characters that I can’t wait to read about in future books.
Waiting for Willa is just fantastic. I’ve been (somewhat) patiently waiting hahaha for this book to come out. It was so very worth the wait. It’s my favorite of the Big Sky series so far. I couldn’t wait to get to Max and Willa’s book and to find out their story.
As usual with every book I’ve read by Kristen Proby, I was hooked from the first page and fully with the characters. I just love visiting her worlds Seattle, New Orleans, Montana, all are just a wonderful place to visit over and over again.
Max and Willa’s story was beautiful. I’ve always enjoyed a good second chance at love story. This one was so good and did not disappoint. Max was is a wonderful guy who is truly sweet with such a big heart. Willa is a great mom and a wonderful friend. She was so very brave to take a chance at love again. I really enjoyed them as a couple. They just fit so well together. Already looking forward to a re-read.

I want to move to Cunningham Falls.
I want to do a girls night out with all the amazing ladies of Cunningham Falls and have breakfast with the sexy, alpha males that this town has to offer. I know it’s fictional, but it’s my wish because this book just made me fall in love with this town and their residents.
When Max Hull left Cunningham Falls in search of a different life, he took his body but left his heart behind. He left the woman he loved thinking she would wait for him. But she didn’t, and it was a decision that defined how their paths would turn.
Willa is a widow, a mom, and a business owner. She’s been a one woman show. She doesn’t need anyone, because when you attach yourself to someone you’re setting yourself for disappointment. Because people leave, even those you love.
I’ve had a hot/cold connection with this series, until now. Waiting for Willa truly changed that. This is not simply a sexy story of second chances. This is about living and healing as you take a chance on life itself. It’s about moving on and letting go of the pains from the past.
Waiting for Willa was both soothing as it was swoony, which made it the BEST in the series. I highly recommend this book.
Some people are worth waiting for!
4.5 stars
I always love this author’s stories and characters. They are sweet, funny, they deal with every day problems and they melt our heart.
And this book wasn’t different. This is a standalone, that is also a part of the Big Sky series, and now we learn more about Willa and Max’s story.
It’s a second chance romance for more than one reason. Once high school sweethearts, they parted ways when Cunningham Falls became too small for Max.
It broke both Max and Willa’s hearts, but that needed to happen, so they could grow, meet other paths in their lives, and then be ready for one another. It was necessary that Willa got married to their best friend so she could have Alex, not only an amazing kid that was Willa’s world, but also someone for Max to love deeply. And that he did.
When they meet each other again, after so many years, their feelings were still there. They were only dormant for that long period. And as they started spending more time together again, their feelings are even stronger, they are wiser, and they are in the right place at the right time, finally.
They have some guilt to let go and they needed to deal with the grief they still felt, but they were together, being one another’s support, and they were getting closer and closer to become a new family. And that is exactly what the three of them deserved (Willa, Max and Alex).
They fought, they disagreed, they talked, they learnt, they broke down their walls, they let the other in, they loved, they cherished and they protected.
They waited. And it was oh so worth it.
Book 3 in the Big Sky Series and this is the book I have been waiting for, I have wanted a bit more from Max from the first time I met him back in book 1 and Kristen Proby did not disappoint this book was everything I expected and more.
Max and Willa have history and the relationship that stated back in high school was always complicated what started as sweethearts turned into enemies and now years later they are both in their hometown. Max may have been her first love but he broke her heart when he left her behind and headed off to college and by the time he was ready to come back for her she had moved on or had she ……. eight years on it’s time to try and out the past behind them and at least become friends.
A sweet emotional love story with a couple you can’t help loving and throughout this story I found myself wishing and hoping Willa and Max got the HEA they so deserved. This book is about second changes, forgiveness and fate, it’s certainly an emotional read but it’s a story that captivated me and once I started I couldn’t put it down so my advice is make sure you have time to finish what you start with this must read romance. I love this series and I love this authors style, her characters feel like friends and her small towns feel like home so once again another great read from this very talented author. I would like to say that this book can be read as a stand-alone but I feel you would get so much more from it if you have read the previous books.
I am just in love with this whole series. Willa losing Cary is so sad, and the guilt that Max carries with him for so many years is heartbreaking. The way that they finally find closure over losing Cary, him not meeting his son, and then rekindling their love with each other is so heart warming. I truly think that each needed the other to be able to move past the anger and pain. Max’s relationship with Willa’s son Alex is so amazing it’s the perfect blend of fatherly and friend without overstepping that line and taking over. And I absolutely loved their Cary date night! Can’t wait to see what happens next with the next characters and crossover.
For me, Waiting for Willa was a book I absolutely could not wait for. It is about rekindled love between two high school sweethearts. We are first introduced to Max in the very swoon worthy book Falling For Jillian and for some reason he always stuck with me. Now Max finally gets his girl.
Max and Willa are high school sweethearts who decide on different paths in life. Max leaves the tiny town of Cunningham Falls and Willa decides to stay. Max goes on to build a substantial fortune and Willa marries Cary, Max’s best friend in high school. On a trip home to visit friends and family, Max and Cary go skiing where Cary is involved in an accident and dies leaving behind his 22 year old pregnant wife. Fast forward 9 years when Max has decided to move back to Cunningham Falls to be closer to his family. He and Willa start spending time together and things grow from there. How will Willa’s son react? Can Willa get over her thoughts that Max is responsible for Cary’s death? Can Max?
Like all of Kristen’s books, Waiting for Willa is a book you just can’t wait to sink into while wrapping yourself in a blanket and drinking a cup of tea. It is relatively low conflict and an easy read. It also provides mention of beloved characters from other books, providing the awesome benefit of catching up with their lives.
I received an ARC for an honest opinion. What a lovely story! It’s amazing how good I feel while reading Kristen Proby’s books. She makes her readers feel as if they are part of the family and part of Cunningham Falls. It’s a pleasure to read her books. It was wonderful to finally read Max and Willa’s story. I definitely would recommend this author, series, and book to others.
Waiting for Willa was worth the wait! I’ve loved every book in this series but Max and Willa’s story just went to the top of my favorite-book-in-the-series list. Well written, funny, sweet, romantic, oh so hot, and at times poignant, it is everything you would expect from a Kristen Proby book. And that smart, funny, and sweet little boy? He stole my heart from the first moment he appeared on the page. Fans of the series will not be able to resist falling in love with Max, Willa, and Alex!
This book was so worth the wait!! No pun intended! Max and Willa had a relationship in their teens and when Max wanted more than Cunningham Falls, he left hoping she would realize how much she loved him and come to him. Alas, it didn’t work. She fell for his best friend and when tragedy struck, it brought them together again. Waiting for Willa goes through all the emotions within the first seven chapters and you can’t put it down! Love, hate, sadness, laughter, sighing, sexy time and of course the bond of parent and child are epic in this book! Kristen always delivers and always leaves you wanting and waiting for more!!
I really wish Cunningham Falls was a real place. And I really wish that the characters in Kristen Proby’s Big Sky series were real people. They are most definitely people I would love to get to know and hang out with!
I have been anxiously awaiting the story behind Max Hull and Willa Monroe. We have had little teasers in previous books about how they had dated in high school, but had broken up. Max had moved away while Willa had a child and opened her own dress shop, but due to their past, Willa wanted nothing to do with Max. We find out in Waiting for Willa that Max and Willa broke up when he decided to move away from Cunningham Falls, wanting to spread his wings and see what it was like in a big city. Willa moved on and fell in love with Max’s best friend, Cary, who unfortunately passed away, leaving Willa a widow with an unborn child. Since then, Max and Willa are hardly ever alone, and Max has respected Willa’s wishes to stay away from her, despite still having feelings for her.
These two have some undeniable chemistry! I absolutely love Max and Willa together! I love how strong Willa is, not wanting to depend on others (a trait I often see in myself) when it comes to her shop or her son, Alex. I love that Max complements her, and allows her to remain so independent, while supporting her dreams and wishes. I think one of my favorite things about Kristen Proby’s writing is that she writes such strong and independent women, and men that love them, support them, and push them to be everything that they can.
I absolutely loved these two characters, I absolutely love this series, and I absolutely recommend Waiting for Willa!!
I wish I could give this story more than 5 stars! I love second chance romance stories. I did not want to put this book down and I cried sweet tears at the ending. What an epilogue! I hope you’ll love Max and Willa (and Alex) as much as I did!
I’m obsessed with second chance romances and this book fed my addiction completely! The blurb INTRIGUED me, the Prologue….pulled on the HEARTSTRINGS, the story CONSUMED me and the Epilogue was EVERYTHING!!!! Willa and Max’s story was filled with heartache, loss, forgiveness and ALL THE FEELS!!! I am head over heels in love with this read and a little boy that gave this story a little something extra. What do you do when you realize the one person you left behind is the love of your life you just can’t let go? Buy the book and find out.
