Recently optioned for film by Passionflix! When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer’s block as she’s beginning the final installment of her international bestselling steamy Bed ‘n Breakfast series, she’ll do pretty much anything to get her groove back.Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee-smooth, sweet, and scorchingly … coffee-smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot.
She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees only entrance.
But she’s way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.
Doing a test-drive of her new book idea sounds like a much better option.

Really enjoyed reading this story
I loved Miles and Kate. Their story has humor and heat. It is written in first person from dual POV. I appreciated that Kate was strong and feisty. I loved Miles and his motorcycle. He is certainly an alpha male with a lot of possessive feelings toward Kate. Kate’s ex was a real loser. Her friends were great at supporting her. This was a very enjoyable read for me.
Amy Daws makes me swoon again!
Kate Smith is a “smut” writer with a sassy mouth and down to earth attitude in search of the right vibe to finish her latest romance novel. Where does she find her vibe? Non-other than the Customer Care Center at Tires Depot. While indulging in the complimentary coffee and pastries she finds her mojo and the words flow.
It also helps to have inspiration from Tires Depot mechanic Miles Hudson. He is everything you want from a book boyfriend; sculpted body, alpha attitude, overprotective, charming, thoughtful and with all the dirty talk.
Kate and Miles’s chemistry is sizzling, feisty, dirty and just makes you want to melt. Amy adds the right amount of angst and struggles from past relationships that each need to overcome.
What makes this story even better? It was inspired by the author’s real-life experience finding her writing vibe in a tire store.
I loved, loved, loved reading this book. Falling in love with Kate and Miles. Laughing, cheering and swooning through their journey. You can’t ask for a better story.
This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
3.5 stars- Kate is a erotic romance writer who spends her time at an auto mechanic shop waiting room where she gets her vibe to write.
It’s funny how she tries so hard to not get caught however she meets Miles one of their mechanics.
Friendship, amusement and attraction blossom between the two but Miles has some major emotional barriers brought on by an ex.
He is attractive and attentive but I didn’t care for his quick to anger attitude. At times got too much where very controlling and jealous. However I had to remind myself that this books seems to be more real in character personalities not fantasy that we look for usually.
There were quite a few times they had very awkward dirty talk and just felt very forced which brought down my rating of this book. Along with just sometimes weird dialogue between the character. Without these in there I feel could have been a 4 star.
The storyline was good just the couple things that made it from being great in my eyes but everyone has different opinions and should stop you from trying this book. It is not stopping me from reading the rest in the series.
5 stars for Wait With ME by Amy Daws. This is book 1 in the Wait With Me series. This is a romantic comedy that had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. Kate and Miles are fantastic characters. I loved their chemistry. The side characters were great also, they really made the story. Kate and Miles both have horrible exes, the only problem is Kate still lives with hers but not by choice. Kate and Miles meet at the Tire Depot where I guess they are both working: Miles as a mechanic and Kate is working on her new book. These two take us on a funny and intense journey. Kate is keeping secrets and what will happen when it all comes to head. I can honestly say I wish I had a friend like Kate. Miles is the ultimate book boyfriends. Amy Daws is a terrific author and I can not wait to watch this movie come to life with Passionflix.
I love all things Amy Daws and Wait With Me is no exception! Knowing how she got writing in a tire shop made this story just that much more extra. I loved Kate and her alter ego and what is better than a hot mechanic?! Great book
I was gifted this book, and at the same time I’m writing this review, I see it was optioned by Passionflix for a movie. Good God, will this woman lie her way through the movie too?
Apparently, the writer is very good at character development, but incapable of writing a likable heroine. I was ready to throw the Kindle at 17%, then decided I would plug through. Ready to mark it as DNF at 25%. Then decided no, I would force myself to finish this if it is the last book I ever read. As frustrated as I was over this story, I was close.
Note to author – I know its great to brag that you are in the top 100 on Amazon, and I know its great that you can write a wonderful blurb for the story that causes you to sell far more books than the book itself deserves. Your writing is just ok, you won’t win any awards unless and until you learn how to write so people like your characters AND the plot, which suffered because your main female was too shallow to make the plot strong. The two work together to create a story – just like in a movie – put a movie star in that role, and hand her a lousy script, you have a bomb. Maybe, just maybe I’ll read another book of yours sometime in the future, but not anytime soon, not if you write your characters like this. And keep in mind, a reader can dislike a character for a multitude of reasons and still like the book. That didn’t happen here because you chose to make that dis-likable character the “star” of the book and have her win the hunky guy, even though, with that attitude, he’d be a fool to touch her with a ten foot pole.
And the other thing I will never do again is accept a gift of a book without having the gifter read ALL the reviews next. I prefer my books to be written with a slightly higher level of education, appeal to a broad range of ADULT women, and have both plot and characters I like. I’m also never going to read another book that Passionflix options – it is now 5/1 against liking the books they decide are movie-worthy. Sad but true.
What a breath of fresh air!
This was my first read by Amy Daws so I had no preconceived notions going into it. What actually drew me in was all the teasers Amy kept posting on social media. Boy am I glad I finally gave into my curiosity! Not only does this have an original swoon worthy story line, but it also has very real and complex characters. It also had me laughing out loud so much that I was glad I was’t in public and that’s never a bad thing in my opinion!
Wait with Me is the first book by Amy Daws that I have read and OMG, I was either smiling or laughing my way through this book. The storyline is unique and so much fun and the banter between these two characters is flirty, funny and perfect! Kate has always written romance stories and now a hot, sexy, real life book boyfriend has stepped right into her real life world and he is now her romantic inspiration and so, so much more.
Romance author finds her writing mojo is at it’s best when she writes from the customer service waiting room at a tire repair shop.
When she thinks no one has noticed her coming in everyday, taking advantage of the free coffee and cookies, she is so wrong. One of the mechanics there has definitely taken notice. Next thing they both know is that he is helping her with “reserach” for her current WIP. Now he just needs to convince her he wants more than just their “research”
Kate Smith is an author looking for inspiration, this leads her to hanging out in a tire shop lounge. She finds her groove while trying to blend in until she finishes her book. Miles Hudson approaches Kate and gives her more to work with. Loved this one.
Hot Mechanic….Yes Please
I loved this rom-com from the master named Amy Daws. She takes meet cute to a whole different level. Who would have ever thought of sneaking into a tire shop to write and fall in love. Absolute genius!
This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
I want to start off by saying I truly wanted to love this book. The back story was just amazing and funny that I just knew this was the book for me. Sadly, it wasn’t. I didn’t care for many of the characters but especially Miles. I’m all for an alpha male but not in the way that he was. Miles was more controlling than protective. For example, Kate had on a dress and did a twirl for Miles. Miles told her he hopes she never wears that dress again because he could see her butt/panties underneath. Okay, maybe say “when you twirl around you can see a little too much so be careful??” Then he said that she could wear the dress if she didn’t twirl or wore something underneath it. Don’t try to tell someone what they can and can’t wear. I just couldn’t with him.
As far as Kate goes…..she and I had some issues as well. This girl lied about EVERYTHING. I felt like she lied about the simplest of things just so her life would be easier for that exact moment. Can you not see that telling such huge lies and constantly lying that it will eventually come to light and explode in your face? I just didn’t get it.
The major thing this book had going for it was humor. This book was funny. I laughed out loud more than once while reading it. It also had some quirky, funny moments that only a reader could appreciate. I loved that Kate was an author and we got to see ALL the bookish things. It did get a little too much in terms of kink in my opinion. Some things had me CRINGING and I read new adult/adult romances all the time. Things were just too much at times or taken too far for my comfort.
Overall, I loved the humor. It made this book more enjoyable. I truly wish I enjoyed the entire book but it just didn’t work for me.
This great romance that takes place largely in the waiting room of a tire dealership is fun from beginning to end. Well written, funny, good characters. Read it!
Really liked the style of writing. Had me laughing out loud and it was very entertaining. Started to read a series written by this author and I’m on my 4th book in. I love it!
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel Wait With Me by Amy Daws and this review was given freely.
Almost 30 year old single erotic romance novelist Kate fearful of the return of her writer’s block returns daily to the Tire Depot to finish her newest series and at the same time falls in love with one of the mechanics. This novel contains humor, raw language, and a steamy but rocky romance complicated by the addition of two other guys but ultimately ends happily.
Great Book Boyfriend
A entertaining story. Funny at times, sexy at times, and throughly enjoyable. The relationship at times seems more about the sex then anything else but it’s still fun. Great ending too.
Wait With Me by Amy Daws is a standalone, contemporary, romantic comedy told in dual POV. It follows the relationship between erotica author, Kate/”Mercedes”, and mechanic, Miles.
Kate is having a hard time finding writing inspiration. She’s blocked and nothing seems to be helping. When she takes her car into Tire Depot for service she’s surprised to find her mojo while waiting in their comfort care center. She proceeds to take advantage of the magic by repeatedly sneaking into the comfort center to work on her novel.
Miles works at Tire Depot and he has noticed Kate. He’s been curious about why she keeps sneaking into the comfort care center. When they meet, she introduces herself as “Mercedes”, her author pen name. Both are immediately attracted to each other, but they also have both been burned in past relationships. So, they decide to enter into a casual, friends with benefits arrangement. Of course, as is often the case in these situations, feelings develop and lines are easily blurred.
I enjoyed this story. I liked the characters even though I didn’t always agree with their behaviors. Kate lied for seemingly no reason, and Miles was too controlling for my tastes. Even so, this was a really fun read. It was quirky, hilarious, smutty, and sweet.
