Heat –
Vow of Worth is the sixth book in the Vow series by Emma Renshaw. This is the story of Caroline and Kieran, two people that seem completely opposite on paper. But sometimes it’s our jagged edges that make us fit together.
I picked this book not knowing it was a part of a series, and I’m happy to say that aside from a little bit of character and world-building I was not lost at all. Caroline has lived her life not ever feeling like she’s enough, now she’s working as a vet and trying to live her life on her own terms. When a familiar face comes into her clinic she can and can’t believe he doesn’t recognize her. After all, Keiran never had the time of day for her when they were in high school together.
Kieran struggles to figure out why the hot vet wants nothing to do with him. So rather than let a good thing slip by he joins her puppy class with his new ball of trouble Pepper Jack. This man and his dog will make you burst out laughing and sigh dreamily at how adorable they both are. Obviously, Caroline can’t resist them either and when she and Keiran finally get together it was H-O-T. This hero may be my favorite dirty talker I’ve read in 2020, it wasn’t just sexy it was heartfelt and sweet. Kieran knew exactly how to build Caroline up and my heart sang for her.
This book reminded me in all of the best ways of stories from the likes of Kristen Ashely and Susan Stoker. Two women that have stood at the top of my favorites pile for years because of their steamy alphas that know how to love their women completely. This book touched a part of me that always felt like Caroline, and to read this book is to feel hope that there is always a HEA out there. Thank you Emma for putting some hope back in my 2020.
Loved this book…it checked off all of the things I love in a romance…mystery, murder and mayhem but also learning that things may not always be what you see until you dig deep. Just when they think Caroline is safe things go haywire and Kiernan prays he will get to her in time. I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
Don’t get me wrong, I love romance stories! It’s my favorite genre! But suspenseful romances are icing on top of my already favorite genre!
This one has it all – love and mystery!
Kiernan has recently adopted a cute mischievous puppy who he names Pepper Jack. (Cute name, huh?) For his dog’s wellness check and training he wants the very best. And that’s Dr. Conroy. Unbeknownst to him, she knows him. Did he forget sleeping with her or was she a previous client or what??? He can’t place her. And he can’t stop thinking about her. Too bad she doesn’t want anything to do with him!
So what’s Kiernan to do???
He pushes his way into her training class – duh! (Lol!)
I’m gonna leave you here in hopes I’ve captured your attention enough to read this one. It is part of a series, but you can read it all on its own with no issue. Each story features a different couple.
Oh, how I already adored Kiernan and his gruff demeanor. Add a seriously troublesome dog and Caroline to the mix and it’s a match made in heaven. He needs help, she’s there. She needs help, he’s there. They both manage to make their family of choice fill all of the cracks and dings created by their families of blood in the end, which is part of the huge appeal of this series.
Of course, no Emma Renshaw book would be complete without my heart wrenching a little (or a lot), and Caroline REALLY struck a chord in me. She’s so much more than she ever gives herself credit for because she lets others’ pettiness sink in, so Keirnan is absolutely perfect for her, in every way. These two made for such an enjoyable read that I find myself hoping to revisit this group again soon.
