When I was a kid, I always thought that Prince Charming would swoop in on a white horse and save the princess. Little did I know that kings make their way into a vet’s office, dog in tow and save the princess one slobbery dog kiss and one act of devotion at a time.
Once you crack open the pages of an Emma Renshaw novel, it’s like coming home. Her words are familiar and offer comfort, warming you from the inside out. Each character is all of us. Their insecurities and their strengths lie within every reader who delves into her world. Vow of Worth is no different.
Caroline is a strong, bad-ass heroine. She knows her worth, even in times of conflict. We see someone who has gone through emotional trauma and chooses to remain giving and resilient in spite of her tragic upbringing. When she loves, she loves hard.
Caroline’s quiet grace complements Kiernan’s cocky, yet modest attitude. He knows that he’s the kind of guy that girls want to bang like a snooze button on a Monday morning, but he also has trauma from his upbringing that has turned him into the protective, alpha hero that we’ve come to expect from an Emma Renshaw novel.
Throw in some suspense in the form of a serial killer getting closer to Caroline, lovable side characters and the rest of the Vow gang, and you’ve got the recipe for a read that draws you in and spits out your idea of what you think you know.
One of my favourite elements of Emma’s work is the deeper meanings. While every book can be read as a romance novel, there are deeper messages if you dive below the surface. Vow of Worth teaches us to love ourselves and to be worthy of that self-love.
Kiernan and Caroline are just the coolest couple. I loved how protective he is. Both looking for that spark, that meaning to life. Caroline has a stalker that’s making her life a danger and doesn’t know who to turn to, till she remembers Kiernan an old high school crush.
This book has danger, mystery, intrigue, so much tension and even drama that pulls the reader in from the very beginning. I certainly was. It even has romance and steamy moments that makes even a hardened heart blush. Such a great story and good book to boot.
This was an ARC and this is my honest review.
So excited that Emma brought us back to this book world! I loved every book in this series, so this installment was right up my alley! After Kiernan adopts a dog that turns out to be his match, he takes him to the best vet in town who just happens to be Caroline. When Caroline walks into the room and finds out that she actually knows her patient’s parent, she has a full range of emotions. Kiernan is immediately attracted to Caroline and doesn’t understand why she doesn’t reciprocate the feelings, and it makes him pursue her even more. But when Caroline has a stalker and Kiernan is the best in town to figure out who it is and save her, she reluctantly agrees, and it starts the process of letting him into her life outside of her job. My heart hurt for both of the main characters in this story, for similar reasons being their past/home lives with their families. I was so extremely happy that these two found their way to each other and that they both made the others better people in their past situations. The suspense per usual was amazing and I didn’t see it coming at all who Caroline’s stalker was although I should have! I loved the storyline and can’t wait to see what’s next from Emma!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I haven’t read the other books in this series, so I cannot speak to the comparison to those books. I did finish this so that’s why I gave it at least 3 stars. For me, it was the flow of the book, and the fact that it took me a few chapters to get into the story. This was an ok read for me. If you think this sounds like something for you, give it a chance then. It may just be me that had the issues with it.
**Disclaimer: I was provided an advance reader copy by the author in exchange for my unbiased review and opinions**
Vow of Worth is book #6 in the series. I have not read the prior books in the series.
This is the first book I have read by Ms. Renshaw.
Kiernan had adopted Pepper Jack the dog and he has some *ahem* behavioral issues. He gets him to the vet for his check-up and vaccines and he immediately notices Caroline, the vet that’s tending to Pepper Jack. Let me just say that this dog is one of the best parts of this story!
I enjoyed Ms. Shaw’s writing style and the Vow family she created in the prior books. However, this being romantic suspense (Perhaps romantic suspense lite?), I wanted a bit more suspense. The villain was easily discoverable from the moment he appeared. Maybe because I cut my reading teeth with Agatha Christie?
I know the limitations romance authors sometimes have to operate under, but I assure you, there are plenty of us that enjoy the mystery in the stories (that’s why I read this subgenre). A harder to figure out villain would’ve made this book a 5 star read for me.
I’m so disappointed that I haven’t read this series before and I’m making sure that I’m going to read the rest of it. Because this is freaking amazing! It’s filled with amazingly written characters, Kiernan and Caroline. They have hot chemistry between them. It was just about time for them to be together. I loved that Kiernan shows how much he really loves her. It was beautiful the way these two fall in love
Kiernan and Caroline’s story is very good. You have some “who done it” to get through. I think you will really like this couple. They have some bumps to get over. Pepper Jack just enhanced this book. That doggie has a mind of his own. Even though it’s a part of a series, you can read it as a stand alone. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
3.5 stars
Caroline has grown up being put down, constantly, by her mother and sister. So to say she lacks self worth, would be an understatement. But she’s amazing. So when Kiernan (Caroline’s high school crush) strolls into her vet clinic with his dog her feelings of inadequacy surface.
Threatening notes and the feeling of being spied upon has her turning to Kiernan for help. As they draw closer together, a killer is threatening to end it all for the both of them.
I liked the premise of this book and that Caroline came out of her shell. This flow felt off to me but overall a decent read.
Caroline has finally shed her timid personality from high school and is now a confident woman and successful veterinarian. But when her old high school crush comes to her clinic with his new (and wonderfully crazy) dog, it doesn’t take long for old feelings and new hurt to come to the surface as Kiernan doesn’t even remember or know who she is. Kiernan starts taking Pepper Jack to Caroline’s training classes and the two start a tentative friendship. Caroline starts to be cyber stalked and when she goes to the police, they send her to a private company who can bypass all the red tape entailed with law enforcement to track down her stalker, AKA Kiernan. When Kiernan realizes that Caroline is in danger, he does everything in his power to keep her safe and starts to have genuine feelings for her. This was a really good read, a little long but overall very enjoyable.
Vow of Worth is only my second book from Emma Renshaw, but I’m really enjoying her stories so far!! In this one, we get the story of Kiernan and Caroline, who meet when he brings his dog into her vet clinic. What Kiernan doesn’t know (or remember), is that they went to high school together and he never noticed her back then – but he sure does now. Kiernan not remembering Caroline hits at the insecurities she feels that have been placed upon her by her family (who are downright awful), but he sure works hard to make sure she knows she’s beautiful and wanted. And when a stalker sets his sights on Caroline, Kiernan will do anything and everything to make sure she’s protected – even though it could cause issues with his partner at MarxMen. But the chemistry they had was HOT and intense, so the risk was definitely worth it.
This one is part of a series (which I didn’t know at the beginning), but I didn’t feel lost at all and now I’m going to have to go back and read the rest of them because I’m definitely curious about how MarxMen started and how all these other characters met and fell in love!
What an amazing journey!!!
Emma Renshaw will never disappoint her readers… Her new book Vow of Worth will capture you from the beginning, it has left me with the wish to read it a thousand times more.
The characters are absolutely beautiful, the plot is captivating and makes you fall in love again and again.
The way it‘ written, is exciting and emotional. It is one of those novels that you can’t stop reading. The chemistry and relationship between Kiernan and Caroline are to die for!
Can’t recommend it enough!!!
Caroline has lived a home life that contributes to her feelings of inadequacy and low self esteem. I could relate to the low self esteem, so my heart went out to Caroline. not to mention, having that secret crush in school (we’ve all had that, right?)
Well, years later and in walks that crush, Kiernan. Turning to him in a time of trouble, they find something there, something they may or may not have a chance to explore further if a certain person has their way.
Kiernan promises to keep her safe, but can he? Can he protect her? You’ll have to read this to find out.
I did enjoy this story. There was something I felt it needed, a bit more… maybe the flow? But all in all, it was a great read and one I think others who are fans of suspense, mystery, and romance will enjoy.
Emma Renshaw really knows how to write a hero that I love. Kiernan is another amazing example of a male who knows what he wants, acknowledges the things he needs to work on, and living a life the way he sees value. He is sweet, caring and alpha protectivie. I really love him and Caroline together. The way they grow their relationship as the story evolves. How neither of them hold a grudge or play games with each other! Pepper Jack is def one of the best parts of this book. He is so loveable and rambunctious. The story/plot is well done, love the suspense parts and how everything plays out. A great mix of heart and drama. Truly another great read from Emma!
This was my first time reading this author, and while I didn’t realize this book was part one series, I wasn’t lost at all. Kiernan and Caroline (and of course Pepper Jack!!) have a beautiful relationship, and while there was definitely some suspenseful moments, I just really adored their relationship!
So Caroline had the biggest crush on Kiernan in high school, but she’s never been the girl that stands out. Not at school, and definitely not in her family. She’s used to being overlooked and talked down to, and just felt like she would never be good enough for anyone.. But now that she’s a veterinarian and feels like she’s slowly making her life her own, her old crush comes back in her life in full force — only he doesn’t remember her.
Kiernan may not remember who Caroline was, but he definitely wants to know who she is now. With the help of Pepper Jack (his pit bull mix!) And all of his issues with listening, these two start spending more and more time together, and quickly becomes the best part of their days. But when Caroline is the target of cyber stalking, Kiernan and his company vows to protect her at all costs. And with hearts on the line, it could be deadly.
I saw so much of myself in Caroline and I LOVED how much Kiernan *saw* her and championed for her. He loved her in such a beautiful way, and never wanted her to question her worth ever again. This poor man also has a heartbreaking background, and I loved how these two just fit together and helped one another overcome their pasts. I just love this book so much!!
I will definitely be going back and reading the other books in this series!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
This is the first book that I have read by this author and this book has a the suspense and the steamy moments that you need. This book is part if the series ans is the sixth book in order.
Kieran and Caroline are both meant to be and you can see it from the get go, even though its been a while this is the second chance that they both need. They are both what each other needs and the journey that they go on is a nail biting one.
Caroline doesn’t feel like she has enough been at all and all and all her life has felt this way but she has worked hard to be different and to not be invisible any more. She is now she is working as a very sought after vet and when a familiar face walks into the clinic she’s stunned.
Kieran is a guy that has always acted the joker and when he walks into the vets he doesn’t know why the vet is acting a certain way and he decides to join the class for his dog and he is more than willing to find out what and why Caroline doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. But she needs his hep now more than ever.
This book is a great read and I didn’t actually realize that it was part of a series but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything though. Kieran and his dog will have you laughing out loud and you will just love Caroline and feel for everything she is and has been going through. The way that this author has written these characters was awesome and there chemistry was electric they are totally hot together. I really felt for everything that was going on and I was rooting for them both. This book will really have your emotions all over and you will feel it all, the suspense is totally captivating and you wont be able to put this book down its a real page turner.

Caroline and Keirnan are perfect for each other. Keirnan is so used to being the life of party in previous books and it was great to see another side to him. The way these two fall in love is everything! I loved the twists and turns this story took without taking away from the characters love story.
I have admired Kiernan from a distance since his introduction in earlier Vow books and I am so happy that we are now able to read his story! Emma Renshaw knocked this one out of the park, it was so worth the wait!
Everyone has something from their history that they would rather leave behind, so what happens when it is your entire childhood? Kiernan is the finest example of “rise above your raising” but his past keeps trying to bring him down. He has some tough decisions to make, both in working with his best friends and in his personal life.
Dr Caroline Conroy is the best of the best in her field, so why does she feel so unworthy? Maybe its because she’s been told that she’s not good enough over her entire life. Caroline feels duty-bound to continue subjecting herself to the family that has sabotaged her confidence to a point that she either needs to surrender or fight back.
Kiernan and Caroline come together when a stalker targets her. Now she has to put her trust in a man who didn’t even know she existed when they first met years ago. Everyone has a past, but can these two have a future? I recommend this book and the entire Vow series.
I’ve enjoyed this series so far. I started Emma Renshaw on a whim and I’ve liked the romantic suspense of this series. While this series had ups and downs it was pretty enjoyable. So we finally get Kiernan’s much awaited book. If you’ve followed along he’s generally been in the background in the other books. A jokester, easy going, fun loving guy and a good uncle.
He never found the one he’s intrested in till Caroline. He needed help with his dog Pepper Jack, that dog was mischief. Caroline has her own esteem issues due to her family and constantly being unnoticeable in her eyes. They did start of well but when Caroline needed help with a stalker/hacker they became closer. I really disliked Caroline’s family I would have cut them out sooner they are so toxic. But Kiernan was a big help in that he saw the good in her. She was also good for the chaotic dog.
I had my suspicions early on who the stalker would be and I was right. I had no idea he would target more people though. He seemed fishy from the start. Kiernan was definitely more than his fun nature he’s dependable and a good guy. I enjoy this series and excited to read Maddox.
Not my first read by the author and I have read all the other books in this series! This one somehow took it for me! There is something about a broken heroine and a hero that has it all but is just missing.
I can’t express enough how much I LOVED THE HEROINE in this. She was an equal amount of strong and vulnerable. Beautiful but doesn’t know it and very smart and SO SO SWEET. The hero you will love equally because he was swoony, sweet, fun and uber sexy! This is a not really second chance but the hero and heroine do know each other. Their meet cute was epic, there is this little puppy named Pepper Jack that is a little devil in disguise with big brown puppy eyes that the hero couldn’t resist. Yes, the heroine is a VET and the hero works at the SECURITY firm that is part of the series. Everything about this is appealing, from the beginning the fun and laughter to going through the pains with the heroine while her family sucker punches her verbally to the hero making her feel like the sexiest woman alive. There is danger, mystery, some best friend fun who is a romance photographer and YES the hero models and it’s the sexiest thing ever…I am pretty sure all of our dream jobs (you’ll see what I mean) That said this really took me from the start, kept me engaged and wowed me through the end!

I absolutely freakin adored this latest story in the Vow Series!!!! Kiernan is the funny guy the one who keeps everyone entertained and never taken seriously. Caroline has never felt valued and appreciated especially by people who supposedly are family. Caroline takes her job as a vet seriously and works hard everyday to achieve calm and peace in her life. Everything changes when she meets Kiernan and his dog Pepper Jack (who seriously y’all steals the stinkin book lol) Caroline remembers the fun loving Kiernan from school and doesn’t want anything to do with them at first. Kiernan doesn’t understand why Caroline doesn’t want to help him and is intrigued by her. The more time they spend together, they both realize that there are feelings and attraction involved. When Caroline starts getting threatening letters and photos of her, Kiernan immediately falls into action and will do whatever it takes to protect his woman and keep her safe from harm. OMG this story was freakin amazing!!! I was hooked from beginning to end and didn’t want to see it end. I laughed, cried, swooned during the insanely hot moments!!! The chemistry between the two was off the charts hot, chemistry was undeniable, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I highly recommend this book to all and I can’t wait to see what this talented author comes out with next. Well done!!!
