Sooooooooo, the last book I read in the series was Vow of Atonement, which was book 2 in this series … Vow of Sacrifice is book 5. Safe to stay, I’m well behind in this series, but thankfully all can be read as a standalone. But what a book this one turned out to be to get me eager to read this series from beginning to end. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Iris and Callan. Both trying to get away from their horrible pasts and making something better of their future. These two definitely had their secrets, but in the end, there was no secret to the feelings they had for one another.
I think Vow of Atonement was the first book that I’ve read from this author and I fell in love instantly. I totally meant to keep up with this series, but than a year passed and more books were released and didn’t even realize it. This one was a great place to jump back into again because I’ll be binging the other books.
I fell in love with Callan almost instantly. As I was reading his story, I still didn’t know enough about his past and it’s looking like we’ll learn more about it (hopefully) in the next book. Or maybe I need to read the previous book to learn what it was exactly he was rolled into? Whatever it was, I’m glad he got out of it and has made a much better life for him and younger sister, Brae. Which also makes him dad/guardian of the year! I adored his relationship with Brae, he’s so protective and fun-loving with her. Those two are absolutely solid and have a bond that’s unbreakable.
And we have Iris, a girl escaping an abusive ex-husband. She’s alive, she’s breathing and she got away from him. It wasn’t easy, but she did it. And her life is so much better with friends who have quickly become family, and now adding Callan and Brae into the mix. Things are looking absolutely amazing for her.
I loved the patience that Callan had with Iris. Page and after page, her walls were coming down and she was opening herself up to him. She found her person that she felt absolutely safe with and knew he was someone she could constantly count on.
Bahhhhh, so much love for these two and just all the characters in this series! Vow of Sacrifice is on my #RSFave list for 2019 and I think everyone should read it, ASAP!

Emma Renshaw
Vow of Sacrifice by Emma Renshaw is book 5 in the Vow Series. This is the story of Callan and Iris.
This book can be a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Iris has been working to rebuild her life after surviving some true horrors. Now she is working to build friendships and her job, to move past her old life. Callan too is working to escape his past and build a better future for his sister. When he sees Iris he knows there is a connection with her but he will need to go slow to build the trust between the two. But sadly sometimes the past doesn’t stay the past which brings them to take action.
Really enjoyed this exciting read.
Vow of Sacrifice was a great, well-written story. Couldn’t put it down. Amazing chemistry between Callan and Iris. Loved Callan!!
I loved everything about this book!!! I am super sad that this is the end of a truly amazing series but if it had to end somewhere….doing it with Callan was perfect. Callan and Iris’s story was so powerful, so emotional that it will forever hold a special place in my heart. They separately have been through so much but together they can find peace, healing, and a forever love that they both deserve so very much. Iris and Callan’s attraction is instanteous…I loved how sweet, patient, and protective Callan was toward Iris. They were so good for each other and them falling in love was truly a special thing to witness. Their story easily was a top read of 2019 for me and I highly recommend this book (and the whole Vow Series) to everyone. I can’t wait to read the next book this talented author puts out and you can best believe that I will devour every word. Well done!!!
One omg I love her Vow series! two she is an amazing author that I got to meet.. Okay enough of that how about the book!
Wowzers! You have Iris and Callan and there relationship is something else. Callan is someone who protects the ones he loves. He adopted his little sister after taking her away from there mother who was being abusive.
Iris is this sweet person who wanted to leave her abusive husband but never could. So a few years pass and she thinks her husband forgot about her, she was totally wrong,
It was a huge page turner non stop, and I wanted to know more, where the love of Iris and Callan would go and what would happen with the husband of hers…
Check it out, and I promise you that you will be in the edge of your seat with these twists and turns and emotions
I absolutely loved this book. It was a definite page turner. I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked from beginning to end. My emotions were, happy, angry, love, sad and I was in tears. The characters Iris and Callan were meant to be. Iris needed someone to protect her.
Callan had taken his little siste, Brae, away from their mother who was more interested in drugs than her kids. Callan finally adopted Brae. Iris was in a very abusive relationship. She had saved for years to get away from her abusive husband. Iris finally got away from her husband and by accident meets Carmen, who takes her in like her own child. Iris thought that after 2 years, her ex husband had finally left her alone. She was so very wrong. Iris met Callan who is her next door neighbor. They start a relationship, which is not easy at first. They both have a past and that past is about to catch up to them.
Emma Renshaw has done it again. With the Vow series. Vow of Sacrifice has intrigue, romance and twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I loved this book and highly recommend it.
Oh wow. I wasn’t sure where this story was going to go but I was happy with the overall outcome. Iris is so strong. With her past she fought her demons and really had all my respect through out the book. Callan was as amazing as I hoped. His love for the people around him and his dedication was something that everyone hopes for. I loved seeing the secondary characters from the other books in this series. We also got to see (well hopefully) a glimpse into another book this author is going to write. I will cross my fingers and hope for that story.
This novel was well plotted and everything for the most part was wrapped up in a pretty little epilogue. It had that suspense aspect that I love but it didn’t over shadow the romance aspect. My heart is so full when it comes to thinking about the progression of the romance. I have a smile on my face and will every time I think about these two. 4 stars #2OCCJD
This is book five in the vow series and I swear with each book I fall in love more and more. I absolutely LOVED Callan and Iris. They are an amazing couple together and when they see each other for the first time it is love at first sight. They know they are meant for one another but they are scared and take it slow.
I love how Callan is taking care of his teenage sister and raising her to be a fine young woman. He wanted more for her so he walked away from his life to keep her safe. Callan knows that running form the past will get you know where so he makes sure to keep his sister safe from any harm.
When Iris leaves her life she knows she is doing the right thing even though she is scared but she knows she needs to move on and start somewhere fresh. It is in Austin that she is able to make friends and have her relationship with Callan.
This is the fifth book in the Vow Series by Emma Renshaw, it’s definitely can be read as a standalone story, there are recurring characters but nothing major to miss by not reading the other books first.
We meet Iris as she returns to town after leaving her abusive husband, this clumsy kooky woman is sweet and emotional. Her new neighbor, Callan looks after his younger sister and is incredibly protective of the people in his life and once he meets and falls for the sweet beauty next door, he vows to protect her from her past.
This story is well-written and entertaining, the characters are incredibly likable, there is plenty of drama to keep you emotionally invested until the ending.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
Callan has done everything in his power to give his sister a normal childhood now that they are away from Chicago. He will do whatever it takes to keep her safe and happy. Love wasn’t on his radar until he laid eyes on Iris. When Iris moves into the apartment next door, she feels like she has made a horrible mistake. Coming home to Austin brings all her anxiety and fear rushing back. Meeting a guy like Callan was never the plan, she was done with men. But their attraction is undeniable and he makes her feel safe. Will Callan be able to help her fight her way free of the past so they can have the future they deserve?
I am loving the Vow series, it is full of feels! Callan is a great guy who is a tad overprotective of his sister. He has always taken care of her and she is his priority. Iris has had a rough life and isn’t sure coming home was a wise decision. She missed Austin so much but the memories and the man behind them are dangerous in more ways than one. She has no one in her corner, no family or friends. Her loneliness and isolation were heartbreaking. I absolutely loved watching these two find each other and the family Callan brings into her life is very much the icing on this cake. Ms Renshaw is a lovely and talented writer. Sitting down with one of her books puts a smile on my face every time!
Iris and Callan have a lot in common. They both use their past to deal with their future. It works pretty well, until, one day it doesn’t! That’s when they find danger all around and the question is, who do they trust?
Touching backstories are the basis for this romantic suspense story that is filled with danger, lust and the possibility for…more. Take a chance on this one. It will keep you engaged right up to the end.
This happy reader received a copy of the book and am posting an honest review of my own choice. Right now I am on my way to purchase other books in this series. I need the full backstories…bet you will too : )
Two years ago, Iris ran from her abusive husband, but she still can’t help looking over her shoulder. After meeting Callan she is ready to start living again and is hopeful that at last she is safe, but is she? Callan can see that she’s been hurt by someone in the past and his protective nature asserts itself. He’s falling hard and is determined that no one will ever harm her again but Callan has a dangerous past himself that could put the people he cares about at risk.
Iris and Callan’s emotional love story is sweet and sexy. She’s so fragile and he’s so strong, I just adored them together. This book has likable characters and a great plot with some danger and suspense. The writing is wonderful as always. This story is a page turner and I could not put it down. I loved it.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
I don’t want this series to end! Each book has brought us more and more into the lives of this group of characters and they are as amazing as expected. I was really glad that Emma included Callan’s story, and she did not disappoint in the ending of this series! Iris had a tough life growing up, and when she finally thought she caught her break, it ended up being her version of hell. After time, patience, and planning, she finally escaped and thought she was free, although she still lived in fear. Thinking it was a good time to come home, she returns to Texas after two years, but it makes her more paranoid than before that her past will come back to haunt him. Much like Iris, Callan had a past that very much related to her and is now on the other side of it all raising his sister and working a honest job. When he meets Iris, he is intrigued by her actions, and soon finds out how much the two have in common and why he has an urge to protect her. When both their pasts come back to haunt them, the question remains if the two will not only make it out alive, but make it out together. I loved the ending to this and it left me with so many questions on who is next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Emma Renshaw has written an inspiring story of survival, love and revival in Vow of Sacrifice. This story was deeply emotional and riveting. This story has love in so many forms. Loving self, loving a family that one finds along the rough path of live and loving again after breaking into pieces.
Iris is a brilliant character. Her childhood was not affluent but she had some truly cherished time with her grandparents. Unlike her married life which was full of abuse in the worst form. When she finally finds the courage and means to restart her life, she meets Callan. Callan’s past has some dark secrets but he is also living a new life with his sister. Iris has scars in her soul those made her vulnerable and Callan is one intense and brooding guy. But Iris activates a protective streak in him. Can they be together and mend their broken parts? Will the demons from past come back to hunt and hurt them?
Iris is so strong and has unlimited capacity to love even after getting bruised and shattered so badly. I admire and respect her. The author tackled this sensitive subject pretty well. And she needed a dedicated and overprotective man like Callan who will go to any length to support her and shelter her. I just love this man so much. The author brought them close slowly in a realistic pace as both had some major issues. Their chemistry was pretty hot and intense. The story had a gripping storyline with interesting twists and turns to give the story an additional thriller like feel.
Vow of Sacrifice by Emma Renshaw is a real, honest and sensual love story. This story talks about inner strength and taking chances. That is something all of us can use a bit!
Received ARC for Honest Review
I voluntarily review an ARC of this book. This is a well written book. Characters are strong. Callan and Iris have sizzling hot chemistry. This book will tug at your heart strings. Both characters have things from their past that make them the strong people they become. This story is hot, sexy, and emotional.
I have read all the book in this series but one. I will say this series does not disappoint. It has strong characters that each have issues they have to overcome. It’s no different for Iris and Callan. Iris is escaping an abusive marriage and trying to start life new. The author handles this with so much care. Iris has her triggers which Callan respects fully. Callan escaped a world that wasn’t pretty. He has his sister to care for now and a new life. He was focused on life and wasn’t expecting a pretty new neighbor to catch his attention. Him and Iris complete each other perfectly. She bonds instantly with his sister and his friends wives. She has a family once again. This book contains steamy sex scenes, sweet and fun moments and some suspense. It was a great book that keep my attention from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down!
I loved Callan and Iris’ story. This is part of a series, but one can certainly read it as a stand alone. You will find yourself cheering for 2 people who have had hard lives due to the choices that they made in their pasts. The book is filled with some action that will leave you breathless as you race to finish reading. The storyline flows. The characters are wonderful. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger
Outstanding read and finish to this series as it is filled with everything from suspense to laughable and even tear enduing moments. I absolutely loved this series and find that this book is just as captivating as the first. An exceptional ending to an exceptional series. I highly recommend this book and this series.
Oh how I’m loving this series!! I fell in love with Callan and his alpha ways and him being so sweet! I love how he his with his sister Brae and how he treats Iris once they meet. He will do anything for his sister and his Iris but will it be enough?
I loved the action, the slow melt between Callan and Iris that will just melt you too. I laughed, I cried and I’m pretty sure I said oh heck no in there a few times too. I couldn’t put the book down and seriously LOVE this series. If you haven’t read all of them, you need to!!
Where to start with this book as it just has ALL the feels in it. From the prologue, you can feel the pain that Iris endures thanks to her husband. How she feels trapped. My heart broke for her so much. Fast forward a bit, and she is right on the path of Callan. Granted there was a saucy little matchmaker for these two, but I love how they gravitated towards each other. Callan with his troubled past and Iris with hers, they seem destined to find each other.
To be honest, I have been dying for Callan’s story since we first met him in James’ book. There was something about him that made you just wanna snuggle up and love him, and let me tell you, Renshaw did him justice with this book. He is such a fierce protector of those he loves. How he takes care of Brae as well. The one thing I adored about Iris, is her growth through the story. How she was such a shell of a woman when first meeting Callan to being so strong as to not back down from her jerk of an ex. Then there is the fact that Iris is brought into the circle that this whole series has created. It is the perfect example of family doesn’t mean blood and they look out for one another.
There is always that chance an author takes when writing about a tough topic that can be so taboo. With this story, I felt that Renshaw did it with grace and justice. You can feel the pain that Iris endured and how it affected her years later still. You get that sense of fear but then strength as she grows within the love of Callan and Brae. The strength she draws from all the girls and their past experiences. This is one raw and emotional story with a message of survival and finding love again. I am sad this series has come to a close but it was an epic ride! Closing with Callan and Iris was a great ending and so much love! If you haven’t read this series, I highly recommend it. By far one of my favorite series and favorite authors of all time! Stalker for life!
