I love the sound of a broken heart. Somehow it soothes my tortured soul.
Judge me, but if you’d seen the world through my eyes, you wouldn’t blame me. You’d seek justice, too.
Beautiful women shouldn’t be trusted. They think they’re in control. That I’m foolish enough to fall for their looks and manipulative tactics.

That’s the plan. Until my cousin, Brett, hooks up with a Beaumont. The daughter of a wealthy family who has connections to my late father and ties with the secret society of male billionaires. The same club my father ruled with an iron fist and I’m banned from joining. Will Freya be able to break his Vow of Revenge?
This was the first book by Autumn Archer and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading more by her in the future
Vow of Revenge is the first book I have read by Autum Archer and I throughly hooked! This is a dark emotional story that you will not be able to put down, you will be on edge from beginning to end, this was one thrilling book. This story was heart-wrenching as you follow all of the drama, betrayals and revenge surrounding Kaleb and Freya. The attraction between these two is explosive. You will fall in love with these characters. Kaleb’s character is one that you will love to hate as this broken man only seeks revenge. Can these two broken people come together? Can you love a person and hate them at the same time? If you are a fan of dark romance, this book is for you. This is a must read. I voluntairly reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
An Incredible Journey Plagued By Darkness, Mystery, And Tragedy! Though Tedious At Times, Well-Worth Sticking It Out Thru The End.
Sixteen years ago, Ana Harte witnessed an evil born of madness and emboldened by money and power. She learned that nothing is free. The young single mom owned nothing of her own besides her one precious gift – her young daughter. Damien Kingston offered her a job in the guise of a housekeeper, and she gave in to his whims. At first the arrangement went well, but soon Damien’s evil ways surfaced. Caught in the Brute’s web, Ana paid dearly – her daughter the price.
Kaleb De Courcy, twenty-eight, believes all women are evil. He doesn’t remember much of his childhood, but he does remember witnessing his father being murdered when he was thirteen years old. He watched as a woman slit his father’s throat, then made a vow of revenge in a misplaced sense of administering justice. He takes equisite pleasure in reeling women into a fantasy that will never exist. It is all a scam that ends in a cold-hearted brush-off, his dead eyes squashing any lingering hopes.
Freya Beaumont, twenty-three, has no idea how beautiful she is. She has an understated natural beauty that disarms and a mouth that, when provoked, challenges without apology. She wants to be indepent, even though her father would willingly pay for everything, so she writes for a magazine. She and Syrah have been practically attached at the hip since age five. Her best friend, roommate, and beloved sister, Syrah’s outgoing personality balances out Freya’s reclusive tendencies.
Kaleb and Freya’s story will ruminate with you even after you set the book down. Theirs is a deep story, with history working against them, their personal baggage, and family issues presenting obstacles to their happiness. After digging so deep, the reward in the end is well-earned. Their story seems destined for failure in spite of their instant attraction to one another. Both have childhood trauma that has shaped them; neither is terribly suitable for a relationship. They are opposites in many ways, but when it comes to standing up for herself, Freya isn’t afraid to give Kaleb a piece of her mind. Kaleb tries to fulfill his vow of revenge with respect to Freya, yet Freya’s realistic attitude allows her to accept him as he is. Kaleb and Freya’s journey undergoes a myriad of challenges and emotions which eventually earns the couple a HFN. Although the ending is just a brief glimpse forward, there hint of a spin-off book would take place following the close of this book, which would likely offer an update on the couple.
There are a few problem areas with this book. First, it is sometimes tedious to read. The verbiage is often overkill and/or awkwardly used. Further, there are numerous errors in the first release – formatting errors, proofing – too many commas! There are a few instances in the story in which simple communication breaks down or isn’t attempted, which in turn causes unnecessary drama. And finally, BE WARNED: while technically there is no cheating, the characters, driven to prove their incapacity, are true to form while still denying they are relationship material.
Aside from the areas noted above, this book is nicely written. The plot is complex; it has layers that engage as they they unfold. It is entertaining. The characters are well-developed. Freya and Kaleb will tug at your heartstrings as their stories are told. There are also many supporting characters whose stories intrigue. The characters are often flawed. The POV alternates between Freya and Kaleb. I rate this book four stars.

Emotional, and twisted!
This is my first time reading anything by this author, and this book was an intense, and twisted read. This is the story of Kaleb, and Freya. Kaleb is out for revenge, his target, women, any women he can break, crush, and destroy, that is until Freya crosses his path, and the plan starts to fall apart. This was emotional, dramatic, violent, steamy, and dark. Great read.

Kaleb’s father was murdered, hence his mistrust of women. He’s twisted and dangerous, vowing to leave a trail of broken hearts. Freya has a loving family now, but it wasn’t always that way. She’s strong and independent, and Kaleb has met his match in her. They start out hating each other, and yet are drawn to each other like a moth to the porch light. This is a love story, despite the darkness and emotional twists. First read from this author, it was so worth the time spent reading it.

Kaleb vows revenge for the death of his father. He doesn’t care about women and their broken hearts. His past is very dark. Freya is with a loving family but she can’t forget her dark past. She’s about to meet Kaleb and things will turn upside down for both of them. Kaleb is the man you shouldn’t get involved with but you can’t help yourself. Freya will be no different but she is able to get to Kaleb like no one else. A true love story with all the feels.
WOW!! What an incredible piece of work!! I am going to have to hunt for superlatives that befit this book. It is an emotional, erotic novel, with a backdrop of double-tiered family tragedy, at the heart of which is a romance between Freya and Kaleb. There is family closeness, love, loyalty and friendship. There are dark secrets, incredible cruelty, deception, vengeance, anger, hate, lust, violence, death but also desperate loneliness and love. What can I say? The book is an emotional roller-coaster. There isn’t a single moment in the book that is unnecessarily drawn out or superfluous. On top of it, it is a tear-jerker. Yet, it is an absorbing, feel-good book with incredibly good character description. The dialogues are intelligent and take into account the characters involved. After a lot of drama and heartache, the power of communication once again proves the importance and value of dialogue in any human relationship and finally the story has the resolution we all hope for, an HEA for our heroes. I am very much taken by this novel and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone over the age of 18.

Wow. What a book indeed. I have only read one other book from Autumn and it was nothing like this one. This one blew me away. Vow of Revenge is intense, mind blowing, chilling, suspenseful and off the charts hot. There is also a very sad moment in this one that had me in tears. There is everything in this book. Autumn draws you in, grips you, holds you hostage with an amazing storyline and characters, breaks your heart more than one, than pieces you back together by the end.
Kaleb had a very rough childhood that he doesn’t remember all of. But what he does remember has him seeking revenge with every single female he gets with. He basically uses them and lets them go. Until he meets the feisty Freya. She changes things in him. She has him starting to remember his childhood. But a relationship between these two wont be easy pleasy. These two take you on quite the ride. Hold on because it will be the ride of your life. Secrets will come to light that will change everything between them. This was a mind blowing book for me. Autumn wrote a book that I absolutely loved and will reread again. She did a wonderful job telling this storyline and writing about these characters. Highly recommend.
The plot was well written and well planned and the characters were written with such great detail and depth that I remained totally engaged throughout the entire book!
This book had me hooked from the first page.
It also had me going through a hole range of feelings.
The way Kaleb was consumed by his vow of revenge was so single focused that he mistook what was real for a game.
His need of Freya… “I want her… even though I hate her.”
The sorrow that they both endured tore at my heart.
The depth of emotion that both characters went through… the writing was amazing.
Then the realisation of their need for each other.
“Kaleb was the key to my survival… but i was his key too”.
The understanding that the past is the past.
The vow of revenge is over and the need for redemption is now.
This is a definite 5 star must read… can’t wait to see what is next in store
Oh Vow to Revenge is one of those books that you just can’t stop reading. You read a little then think you should fo something else but just can’t. It was such a great read. Autumn has such a way with writing that you are gripped straight away. An amazing must read xx
I am so torn about this book, because there were definitely moments when I really got into the story, but there were so many things that took me out of it that I eventually ended up skimming to the end. It’s a dark romance that starts out pretty dirty then slowly moves into the sentimental. Unfortunately, the fact that Kaleb was still sleeping with other women 50% of the way into the book was a major turnoff for me and ultimately enough to lose my connection to the romance.
The story follows Kaleb, a man whose father was murdered by a woman. He can’t remember the specifics, but he knows that he’ll never let himself get taken down by a woman like his father, and he makes it his mission to toy with and punish women who want something from him. When Kaleb meets Freya at a club, she seems pretty uptight and he’s not sure why he’s drawn to her. Freya gets dosed with Ecstasy and Kaleb keeps her company while she rides out her high, and they spend the night doing dirty deeds. Afterwards, Kaleb is left wondering if it was the drugs that made the experience so powerful, or just Freya – and he’s not sure if he really wants to find out. The two begin a reluctant dance as Kaleb is torn between his confusing feelings for Freya and his vow of revenge.
It took a little while for this book to grow on me, because it starts out so volatile. This is no slow burn romance; they sleep together very quickly and the first section of the book is all about the physical aspect of their relationship. It takes a while for the feelings to grow, and that’s when I started to settle into the story. But I really can’t tolerate my (anti)hero continuing to sleep with other women, especially so far into the book. It definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and soured the growing interest I had in the story. After that, I detached from the characters and my respect for Freya decreased as well. If you’re looking for a good dark romance, there are moments of greatness in the story, but for me it walked a fine line and ventured to the wrong side one too many times.

So this is one of those times when I totally judged a book by its cover. I had never read this author before, but saw the cover reveal for Vow of Revenge and knew I had to have it. Fast forward to now, and I am still reeling from this amazing book! It’s gritty and emotional, and filled with secrets and mysteries. I was on the edge of my seat for pretty much the entire book. I just loved it! Definitely a must read if you like broody alphaholes and romantic suspense!
Maaaaan, Kaleb Kaleb Kaleb.
This book was a whirlwind of emotion. It was pages and pages of confusion, hatred, and warring emotions.
I think my favorite thing about this enemies-to-lovers romance is that the breaking point was so engrossing. The moment I got to see the switch in both Freya and Kaleb. Kaleb’s broken soul finally got answers and Freya shed her old self and became someone she could be proud of.
This story started all angsty and sexy and dirty and turned into a beautiful story about fate and ghosts of the past clearing up the future.
I am SO EXCITED that Autumn said we’d be getting Brett’s story because my. heart. BREAKS. for. him. The secondary characters in this story held their own and wormed their way into my heart just as strongly as our main couple.
This was SO GOOD!!!
Yes! Yes! Yes, to all of this book! Vow of Revenge kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what came next. Autumn Archer delivered surprise after surprise around every corner, and shocked the hell out of me! Loved every minute of this great read!
WTH did I just read? No One does SEX and SUSPENSE like Autumn Archer!! Oh Kaleb, how I love to hate you! Beautifully broken and sexy as sin makes Kaleb dangerous but alluring. Freya is beautiful inside and out. She knows heartache but loves hard. Together they burn bright but secrets and the past have come back to haunt them. This story is full of angst, heartbreak, lots of passion and SO MANY SECRETS! You do not want to miss this book!! Make sure you block out some time because once you start you won’t be able to put it down!!!
Holly Cow! Kaleb consumed me from the beginning. And the story broke my heart. As soon as I started to read Kaleb’s POV, it was clear that a woman broke his heart. Somebody that meant a lot, but make him suffer. He built a wall and to enforce it, treated his conquers like objects. Just sex, with no strings attached. In his mind had one think, choose a girl for his vow of revenge.
An unexpected girl comes to his life. Someone who will join the pieces of his heart but not before fighting the feelings she awakens. And in the process it will cause pain for both of them.
“Freya was the worst evil of all, she had something all the others didn’t have, an I couldn’t put my finger on it.”
The connection between Freya and Kaleb goes beyond the attraction they feel from the beginning.
“I couldn’t help feeling she was the sorceress and I was under her spell as I struggled to keep my hand in place…”
But it was much stronger than they can imagine. There is a bond that will unite them. One that will become stronger when the vow of revenge becomes a redemption one.
“Together our hearts undertook their own secret mission to break free from restraints and beat as one.”
The past and the present collide to usher the revelation of dark secrets, the healing of two wounded souls and the forgiveness they need to achieve their happy ending.
“I have to be the one to show her the words, the pain, the heartbreak, the torture, the reality. I deserved the opportunity to watch her feel the emotions, together, united. I needed her to heal my wounds, to accept my sacrifice and to try to love me, as I loved her.”
I could not avoid surprise, compassion, sadness at certain times. If you are an emotional person, I advise you to prepare your mind and heart for this dark romance, with a plot that will leave you absolutely captivated.
I was very happy to know that Brett, Kaleb’s cousin/brother will have his story. I like the single father trope and definitely, after what happened, I need to know more! I can’t wait!!
