This book captures your interest from the beginning and didn’t want to put it down. Highly recommend!
The writing could have been better, but on the whole, it was a good story.
Enjoyed reading. Too curtailed sex for me. Page after page of the sex act caused me to skip pages. Story line e was was interesting.
Interestingly written in first person.
great strong female lead
Action packed.
At first, Vow of Retribution had a sizzling plot, like able H and h, great supporting characters, and a sense of progress in the story. However, the h is clearly being stalked by a former whatever ( who wounded her enough for her to keep her self defense skills sharp) and yet the two engage in risky, oblivious PDA’s. In my opinion, the PDA’s consumed the plot, becoming the plot, and I stopped reading and erased the book in disgust.
The book was very good it was nail biting I recommend it.
Not really my kind of book.
I thought this was such a beautiful story. The heroine experiences unimaginable horror but survives and learns to live again. She refuses to let the tragedy of her past write her story for the future. The hero is sweet and caring and such a wonderful match for the heroine. Their love is beautiful to watch grow and strengthen. Really good secondary characters too- I want to read all of their stories!
I was so invested in the characters that I wanted more when story was finished
The description on Amazon caught my attention immediately! I started reading as soon as it downloaded and did not stop until I finished – Talk about a book hangover! I loved the characters, the steamy sex scenes, and the secrets that Savannah and Liam keep until they need to decide if they’re going to keep the secrets or keep each other.
Had the romance, the steamy sex scenes, and the action-packed of a crazy ex that just won’t let go.
Her Phoenix Rises From the Ashes of Her Past
Savannah and Liam each have a secret, and each is dealing with their past in their own way. However, when they meet their chemistry is undeniable, and so is the deadly danger that lurks in the shadows.
I love a well written romance with loads of suspense and danger. I especially love just such an engrossing read that has great characters within an absorbing plot. Such is Vow of Retribution by Emma Renshaw. I am in love with Liam. He is everything that any woman could possibly want. I also admire Savannah’s sassy and tenacious stance against life’s unfairness. Together, Liam and Savannah light up each page with their explosive chemistry. Even the supporting characters were interesting and lovable with a past waiting to be explored in future books.
I really wanted to give this page-turner five stars, but the excessive vulgarities just kept it from being as enjoyable as it would have been without them. I can skim over explicit sexual content, but it’s hard to read around over 250 vulgarities.
Content Alert: Intense violence, Vulgarities, Explicit sexual content
FYI: I also posted my review with Amazon (as Rural Reader) and with GoodReads.
This is the first book that I have read by this author. It won’t be the last. This book was very good. There is a bit of mystery to both Liam and Savannah’s past. The author does a good job of holding the reader captive without giving away too much too soon. The storyline is easily followed, and you keep reading to find out more. The characters, both primary and secondary, are wonderful. There is a lot of build up towards the climax and the reader won’t be disappointed with how it all unfolds. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
I found Vow of Retribution overall a really good book. At times it was a little more graphic than I would have liked but having said that it also made the storyline much more real to life. How someone can endure that abuse and come out the other side is amazing. I would certainly recommend this book to others.
Wow! This book has everything! I’m not sure when I read something that kept me so captivated and involved as this one did.
Savannah’s past is always present in her everyday life. Dating is difficult but when Liam persists, she gives in to her own desire to know him better. Unfortunately, that same past that has held her in its grip also keeps her from seeking more intimacy.
While Liam has his own secrets, he realizes that whatever is holding Savannah back carries more weight. Despite their moving forward at a pace that she can accept, he struggles with the knowledge that she refuses to share her history with him.
Both Liam and Savannah were so well developed that I felt as though I knew them personally. Savannah had survived the fire of her past but was determined to never leave herself vulnerable again. She was strong, fierce and independent. And so very set on her own vow of retribution for her past. Liam was laid back and all around family guy with great friends. He had made mistakes in his past but had grown stronger due to overcoming them and moving forward.
I absolutely loved watching these two together. There is such a sweet romantic feel to them meeting, getting to know one another and moving forward, even if a bit limitedly, into a physical relationship. I really enjoy being able to watch a couple just be together, and we get plenty of that goodness here.
When things start to heat up for this couple, it really heats up. There was so much tension, drama and action that I was literally shredding my fingernails. Dang! This author knows how to string you out with the action sequences. I loved it!
While this doesn’t have a fast pace, it doesn’t plod along either. Every word is necessary and every character relevant. And holy heck, I can’t wait to read more about these secondary characters. The steam level is definitely high and the chemistry between Liam and Savannah was believable from the very first moment.
This is definitely a read I will be recommending to anyone who enjoys their romance with characters that carry a dark past. One warning, be sure you are able to handle triggers and if so…grab this one immediately!
This can’t be a debut novel! Emma Renshaw has written a stellar first novel full of sizzling romance and edge of your seat suspense. I loved the sassy strength of Savannah. While written from duel perspective, make no mistake that SHE is the badass hero! I can’t wait to read the other books in the Vow series.
5 + stars

This book (and series) should read every romance/romantic suspense lover. The plot is so cleverly well-developed and well-written. The writing just flowed and had me engrossed to the story from start to finish wanting to find out what happens next. I enjoyed every minute of it and never wanted it to end. I fell for the characters primary and secondary because it’s so easy to love them and identify with them. In my opinion all the characters were the heart of the story because they were so engaging and made me want to know more about them. Also I couldn’t believe this was Emma’s debut book.
Liam moved back from Chicago into a town he grew up. He missed his family but also has his own secrets but is determined to leave the past behind and start fresh. Liam is an alpha male but with a heart of gold and overall such an amazing guy. He is charming, funny, easy going but also vulnerable and strong.
Savannah is strong, survivor, brave, independent and determined. She’s also sassy and sweet and vulnerable. She moved to Austin trying to start fresh and leave the past behind her having endured something so horrific no person should ever go through that. Because of that she is guarded, careful and closed off.
Liam and Savannah are perfect together. I love how easy going they are with each other. Also their banter and flirting was amazing and highlight of my reading. Liam was so patient with her and I loved the way he was treating her. He showed her that it’s okay to let someone in and how to trust and love again. He is in awe of her strength, determination and sassiness. Liam admires her and loves all of her: who she was and who she is. They are intense, passionate and they simply lit up the pages with their chemistry. Savannah and Liam are both fabulous and kickass characters: strong, fierce, loyal and independent with jaded past and scars. I love that they both accepted each other with no judgement and so much understanding. Epilogue was amazing and I wanted more of them.
This is my first book by this author but certainly won’t be the last. I can’t wait to see what Emma will come up with next. Seriously read it, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend it!
Here’s your next page-turner! Great characters! Amazing story!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Great story, well written. A few typos but they did not distract from the story.
Cant wait for the next book in the series.
