I loved this book. It’s right up my alley…strong heroine, baaaaaad things, and a hunky Hero to help her out of that bad situation. Oh…and a bunch of friends that you KNOW will get their story in the rest of the series! Highly recommend this one!
4.5* Savannah has been through a lot in her life. She wants to take control back of it, she fights to become stronger than she was. She wants to be able to stand on her own two feet and know that she can handle whatever is thrown her way. Her best friend James is there to help her in every way. (Can’t wait to see more of him!!)
Liam is attracted from the very fist moment he lays eyes on Savannah. He wants to get to know her and make her his. He can tell that she has secrets but so does he. He’s not going to push her into sharing before she’s ready but he’s going to make sure that she knows that he’s there for when she is.
I couldn’t put this book down once I started it!
Let me just begin by saying, “son of a sea loving biscuit.” This book is AMAZING!!! It keeps you on your toes the whole time. I have laughed, cried, screamed at, rolled my eyes, smacked my forehead, and dropped my iPad numerous times. The way this book is written not only shows the amount of time and effort that was put into by Emma but it also shows her soul and passion for writing.
Okay so this story line has enough action and grit to get your heart rate up. It has enough suspense to make you sit on the edge of your chair or couch clutching your book or reader so tightly you get white knuckles. The love story is one that gets hot enough to fan your face and yet brings all the challenges of real life relationships. You will build on the characters of this book and won’t be able to put it down. It keeps you wanting more and more but doesn’t let you down. This book delivers is passion, suspense, humor, and of course bad a$$ characters; that makes you want to start the next book in the series before you are even able to put this one down. THIS IS A MUST READ SERIES!!!!!
My hat is off to you, Emma, you are an amazing writer and have me as a fan for life. Can’t wait to continue on with all my new friends in this series.
This book has everything… suspense, a sexy hero, a sassy heroine, friendship, and an all-consuming love.
3.5 “Warrior Princess” Stars
After binge reading the whole Burn Series by Emma Renshaw, I needed more of her books. So I decided to dive into her Vow Series, starting with the first standalone novel, Vow of Retribution.
I really enjoyed Savannah and Liam’s story, though the flow of the intrigue was dragging at times. I liked both main protagonists as individuals as well as a couple. Savannah is a true fighter forged from an ugly event in her past. She’s afraid to start truly living again, but meeting Liam changes her. That man is patient and so caring with her. He knows she keeps secrets from her past, but slowly wins her affection with his charming yet alpha personality.
I felt the big reveal about Savannah arrived too late in the book, making the start of the novel a little slow at times. When her past was unveiled, the suspense finally took flight. Overall Vow of Retribution was a good start to a series I know I’ll enjoy a lot with its interesting characters.
This is the first book of Emma Renshaw’s that I have read. I loved it. This story pulls you in from the first page until the last page. It’s filled with laughter, suspense and plenty of action. Liam and Savannah’s story is breathtakingly beautiful. It will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this book
Love this series
I voluntarily review an ARC of this book. This is a well written book. Characters are strong. Callan and Iris have sizzling hot chemistry. This book will tug at your heart strings. Both characters have things from their past that make them the strong people they become. This story is hot, sexy, and emotional.
This book has everything you need in your next page-turner… love, danger, lots of steamy “romance,” and most importantly, a happy ending! I love that it is a stand-alone book, but also part of a series. I just finished this book and I’m getting ready to purchase the next one in the series. Definitely a good read!
A true tale of a Phoenix rising from the ashes.
Savannah is trying to live after a horrible experience broke her spirit. She has found solice in boxing, and is finally ready to start dating again. Unfortunately it’s not going well. Until she catches the eye of the gorgeous Liam Adler. Her fear makes her timid but She finds Liam able to start to break down her walls. Liam has returned home from Chicago after his own troubles. He’s happy to be starting over. When he sees Savannah, going at the punching bag, he knows he needs to meet her. But can she love him when she learns why he left Chicago? Emma has written an amazing story. Savannah tale to redemption is compelling, and Liam is a perfect man, ready to do anything to protect her. You’ll fall in love with Liam yourself. 5 stars highly recommended.
A bit too violent for my taste
Wow! Romance, sex and danger all in one. She has a past with a violent ex who was jailed for hurting her. She works out at a gym constantly so she is ready for when he is released as he told her he would be back for her. She meets a great guy and finally is able to tell him all the horrible details.
The story was interesting and stayed that way threw the entire book. The sex scenes are far to discriptive. I don’t mind a good sexy scene but to much is to much !
Entertaining read.
I loved that the main character fought back. She did not wait for the male character to rescue her.
Savannah is a strong woman who refuses to remain the victim after suffering a terrible experience. I like the fact that she’s learned to take care of herself. The author has portrayed her well, and she’s very likable. Liam is likable too, but at times he seems almost too nice. My one criticism is his overuse (and many times Savannah’s use as well) of profanity. This didn’t seem to go along with his portrayal as a nice guy who grew up in a tight-knit family. I’m not saying that “nice” people can’t swear, but this was overdone, especially when he used profanity along with the words “Jesus Christ.” In my opinion, the use of profanity in a character’s dialog should be for one of two reasons: the author wants to show either that the character is overly distraught or angry or that the character comes from a certain background where vulgarity is often used. In most cases, neither of these reasons applies to Liam’s use of profanity. The overuse of it became off-putting. I liked the author’s portrayal of some of the secondary characters, especially James. I think his story would be an interesting one since I’m sure the author is planning to make this into a series.
Loved it
Couldn’t put the book down
