Vow Of Obedience by Brianna Hale is book #2 in the new interconnected standalone series Cavalieri Della Morte. Each book features one of the twelve assassins of the Tabella Della Morte.
This is Daddy Geraint’s story.
Geraint Reese, a ruthless assassin for the Tabella Della Morte. After just finding out of his brother Trefor’s death he’s determined to get revenge on the man who killed him, Adelmo Lange, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make him pay.
Imagine Geraint’s surprise when he finds out that the scared young girl that he found running in the rain 5 months ago and dumped in a convent in San Antonio- right after he finished murdering a man in the graveyard, is Adelmo’s daughter. Geraint knows just how to exact his revenge.
“I’m coming for you Branwen Lange, and I’m going to get what I need from you. Even if I have to give you to your father piece by fucking piece.”
Something happened all those months ago and ever since Branwen Lange has been begging and praying to her God to be forgiven. She never thought she’d see her savior from all those months ago, and she most certainly didn’t think he would come back and take her with him.
I remember the feel of his arms around me that rainy night, when a terror so great filled me that I couldn’t stop running. He gathered up all that fear and took it into himself, and the release was so great I couldn’t stay on my feet a moment longer. Surely a demon wouldn’t do that. Only an angel can swallow darkness.
Branwen has taken a vow of silence, so when Geraint shows up and starts dragging her out of the church she doesn’t scream, she doesn’t try and fight him, she just goes along with him. Even though Geriant plans on taking her to the same place that she was running from…
“His scent is enfolding me again, even though the heavy incense of the church. He smells like gunpowder, dark chocolate, and treachery. Sweetness and illicitness, entwined together. My Savior. Except he’s not. I’ve learned a lot about saviors since coming to Our Lady of Sorrows, and they don’t come with bloodstains and hard muscle.”
After taking her from the church, Geraint and Branwen head out on a cross country road trip. Destination, Avallonis. Branwen’s home and where her father, Adelmo Lange is.
During their trip, it doesn’t take long for Geraint to change his mind about hurting the innocent little Branwen. Instead, he finds himself getting extremely protective of her. Especially after a short phone call with Branwen’s father shows him just how little the man cares about the wellbeing of his own daughter.
All throughout Branwen keeps up with her vow, not uttering one single word… even at times when she really should.
Without even thinking about it, I pull her into my arms and grip her so tightly, it’s like I’m trying to meld her body with mine. “There are bad fucking people out there, baby. You gotta speak up when you’re in trouble.” She shakes her head. Fuck. She won’t even speak to save her life. What’s she so afraid of at Avallonis, and what’s she running from? I need to know more than I need that fucking map. As she sobs in my arms, I want to drown the world in blood for her. Who do I need to kill to release her from this terror?
Branwen is determined to atone for her “sins” and she thinks her vow is the way to do it. But Daddy Geraint has other plans for his baby girl.
“You’re going to swear a new vow, baby. A vow of obedience, to me. I will be your God. I will bestow love. Forgiveness. Punishment. I will be your everything and you’ll answer to no one but me.”
Before long they reach their final destination and not only does Geraint have decisions to make… so does Branwen.
Will Brenwen choose the man and father she’s always known? Or will she choose her NEW Daddy who’s shown her what love and forgiveness really is?
You’ll have to check out Vow Of Obedience and find out!
HOLY HOTNESS! This one was smoking hot! I’m not even into the whole Daddy kink thing but damnnn, Geraint can put me over his lap ANY DAY!
Vow of Obedience is a fast-paced, smoking hot read! The development of the relationship between Geraint and Branwen moved pretty quick but it was a short read so it worked out. Even though it’s told from dual POV, right up until the end of the book Branwen doesn’t speak so when it’s her POV it’s really just her thoughts on everything. I’ve got to say I thought she would break her silence wayyy early on, I give props to the author for holding it strong and making it actually work since I wasn’t sure I was going to like that.
For a stone-cold assassin, Geriant is hilarious! He has the best little one-liners, “You’ll get used to it in a bit, baby. I know it’s new and all, getting kidnapped, but you’re doing great. Five out of five.” Haha, or another one, “Good little Catholic girls are probably told they’ll burn if they ring the devil’s doorbell. It’s all right, baby. I’ll ring it for you.’ I laughed my ass off, pretty sure Geriant will wind up my favorite out of these guys.
This is my first read from Brianna Hale, I thought she was a new author until I checked her out on Goodreads and saw that she has quite a few releases, I’ve added quite a few of them to my TBR and I can’t wait to check out more from her!
As always, I just wish it had been a little longer.
Vow of Obedience is a story of love, acceptance, and forgiveness. If you enjoy a bit of dark with your romance and a whole lot of daddy kink then this one is for you!
I can’t wait to see what else these authors have in store for the rest of the men of Tabella Della Morte.
“I’m no saint, Branwen. I’m not even a believer. I’ve done things that your God will send me to hell for. I won’t be joining you in your pretty heaven.” “Yes, you will. Because if you get sent to hell, I’ll come down and get you.” He grins at me. “You’re my light in the darkness, babygirl. Keep burning bright for me?” “Always.
Geraint is a giant teddy bear!
Real quick this has an older man/ younger woman romance with a bit of the “Daddy” genre mixed in. I am going to admit that the above combo is far from one I enjoy reading but WOW did it work for these two. I devoured this in one sitting
My thoughts :
Geraint is seeking retribution for the murder of his brother and when he realizes that the young girl he saved years ago is the daughter of the man he seeks to destroy- Well, isn’t revenge even sweeter when you can inflict a little emotional pain prior to the physical?
The chemistry between Geraint and Branwen is pretty strong from the start. Again, I normally have trouble when I feel a heroine just bellied up to her captor but that is not the emotion that I got from this. Branwen truly was young when she was traumatized (you have to read it) and I get she never dealt with it and she still is very immature/innocent when it comes to the realities of life.
I still really really loathe Arthur!!
This is fiction people it is supposed to stretch the realms of possible – that it makes you believe – that is what makes it magical
Geraint Reese had a personal mission to complete. As a professional, he had no problem executing his tasks. When Branwen Lange crashed into his life, he thought he had an ace in his hand. Little did he know she was going to be a complication he didn’t need.
I thought Geraint was quite sexy and I liked the fact that he’s relatively young. Branwen’s certain choice in life made her character interesting and provided a different kind of relationship dynamic. I liked them together, though the Daddy part felt a little off to me. Even though it’s on the lighter side, it was still a bit too fast.
I liked both of the main characters’ background but I would prefer to have more details on her family and especially on the organization he’s in. This book was lighter than I expected but I still enjoyed it overall. I loved how it ended and wouldn’t want it any other way.
Vow of Obedience is a story of acceptance and forgiveness. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a quick dark romance with a sprinkle of daddy kink.
Vow of Obedience (Cavalieri Della Morte series) by Brianna Hale This is the next story in the series by a different author. The book is a standalone and features a different assassin in Arthur’s Cavalieri Della Morte group. Geraint while on a job comes across a girl who he ends up dropping off at a convent. Later he finds out that the girl is the daughter of the man who has killed his brother. Determined to get his revenge Geraint decides to use the daughter as bait. Branwen has been at the convent since that fateful night and has taken a vow of silence. She wants God to forgive her for what she has done. When the guy who dropped her off at the convent comes back and takes her she is confused. This is a story of them traveling across country together and how their relationship changed from captive to more. I really enjoyed this story and the emotional journey they went on to get to where they ended. It was especially cute due to the fact Branwen was still adhering to her vow of silence. I am looking forward to the next book and assassin. Nothing like a dark damaged alpha male to get a girl juices flowing. 4 stars for me.
Wow! Loved this second book in the series. Geraint works for the Cavalieri and one night meets a scared young woman named Branwen. Knowing he can’t help her, he leaves her behind. But later on, they meet up again and he knows he won’t let her go again. These Geraint and Branwen are so sizzling together! I loved these characters and this story so much I read it in one sitting! A phenomenal read!!
Gaah I loved Daddy Geraint. Well I love all Brianna’s daddies to be fair. She knows how to write a good daddy kink. And this one here was absolutely delicious.
When his brother is killed Geraint wants a revenge. He is furious and ruthless. So he decides to kidnapp his enemy’s daughter and use her as a weapon to kill her father. But he turns a little soft on her when he finds her… a little innocent nun the same one he once saved. The connection between them is quick and the Daddy/LG dynamic was so fucking hot. She was seeking forgiveness so desperate and he was more than happy to give this to her.
I was very intrigued to find out what happened to Branwen that she vowed obedience of silence.
I loved every word in there. I loved the writing and the pace. I love Brianna Hale style of writing. She describes everything so well and don’t get me started
with the hot sex scenes coz they will melt your panties, but who needs them anyway.
If you like dark and quick daddy kink reads then this book is definitely for you.
I absolutely loved it and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the Cavalieri. And with every new book I read in this series I am more and more intrigued about Arthur. His book will be the last and I really am excited to meet him and get to know him better.
Don’t cry, little girl. Daddy will forgive you.
The job was meant to be impossible, even for the Cavalieri Della Morte. Kill Adelmo Lange, the reclusive crime boss who murdered my brother.
Until her. Adelmo’s daughter.
Branwen has taken a vow of silence to atone for her sins, but I don’t need her to say a word. She’s the bait that’s going to draw my target out.
Now she’s going to swear another vow. A vow of obedience. To me.
Together, we’re going to take down her father. If she does exactly what I tell her, she may even escape with her life.

*“I always liked a good girl on her knees.”*
This is an older man/younger woman romance but it doesn’t start out that way. At first, Geraint plans on using Branwen to get revenge of a loss he has suffered. But as time passes, he realises his feelings for her have changed. Similarly, Branwen isn’t sure how to feel about him. She views him as her savior before changing her mind and then changing it again. Geraint and Branwen are both hurting in different ways and yet a connection is formed between them. I think this connection surprises them both but it’s exactly what they needed. It’s a short story but has an interesting story line, engaging characters, suspense plus great chemistry between the two protagonists.
This was first Brianna Hale read, and it won’t be my last..
Geraint and Branwen are just wow.
This book contains all my favorite goodies, violence, action and it’s sexy as hell..
I’m loving the Cavalieri Della Morte series so far.
Fate delivered her into his arms and he never forgot her face.
Now he needs her, question is will she still be where he left her months ago?
A man with a mission and a heart full of vengeance. Will anyone survive?
A short shadowing of Geraint a member of the cavalieri della morte as he sets out to rid the planet of more evil.
Geraint might be very rough around the edges, and very blood thirsty but hes not all darkness. Humanity is still within him and he has some warm and endearing moments.
Branwen is cloaked in silence but her eyes do her bidding for her. Shes strong and broken but still fighting to survive.
This book started out savage, and I felt as if went along that got lost a little, but I did still thoroughly enjoy it.
As it was only a novella it’s short, but there was just enough content to satisfy my basic needs.
A good solid four stars from me.
Oh Yes, Daddy Geraint!!! This is book two is the Cavalieri Della Morte series and can be read as a standalone but it does have interconnected characters within. Geraint is an assassin for the leader of the Tabella Della Mort, Arthur Calthorpe. Geraint wants justice for his brothers murder by a man named Lange. He will stop at nothing, not even kidnapping Lange’s daughter. Too bad the daughter of Lange, Branwen, is the same girl he saved once. Can he go through with his plans or will this killer start to feel more than vengeance when he lays eyes on Branwen? This series is a fast paced, hot read and I loved every minute of it. I love the men in this Assassin series and can’t wait for the next book! Told in dual POV
Daddy Dom. Repentance. Story of redemption.
This book continues the deep, dark world of the Cavalieri Della Morte. It builds their world and let’s you see what it consists of. It’s is dark, destructive, vindictive and demanding. The character building this author does is amazing. The scenes are steamy. The name calling…… well you’ll have to read about that one. Alpha male meets tortured girl who has been through hell and back. Together, they are stronger and unstoppable. Amazing, action packed, steamy, virtue stealing story.
At this point in the stories, there are 2 characters who have endured the tests of Arthur. Geraint and Branwen have met before briefly. When fate brings them back together, it’s pretty explosive. He becomes exactly what she needs. He learns what he needs in life. She gets her repentance. Their story is action packed, revenge seeking, hot name calling, and a story or rebirth. You’re going to love it and be begging for the next book in this series.
Although this book is part of the Cavalieri Della Morte series, it can be read as a standalone and will not distract from the story/series.
Branwen was traumatised by certain events which compel her to take a vow of silence. She has been praying for deliverance in a monastery/church for the past few months, but her family’s wrongdoing finally catches up to her and she’s forced into the company of Geraint to take a “cross-country” trip to her home.
This was an interesting read because although the heroine is not mute, she does not say anything but is able to communicate with the hero through gestures and facial expressions. This showed not only their physical connection but also of their soul. Also, there was a huge age gap – which I live for – and the daddy kink gets me every time. Besides those elements, there were also elements of forgiveness, understanding and love that developed each of the characters into their greater selves.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to see more of the Cavalieri Della Morte men.
4 stars
A very fast paced story that it’s very interesting by the choice of the character as he is an assassin and she is the daughter that run away from her life and went to a church to become a nun and made a vow of silence.
She supposed to be a bait and a means to an end for his revenge and they go on a rode through the country when they get so many sexy moments and learn to deal with their own demons and trust in each other.
I’m not a big fan of a big age gap, the heroine annoyed me at times but the story overall was very interesting and kept me up reading it in one sitting.
