One look.Just like that. That’s all it takes for me to know I wanted Ava for more than one night. She takes a single look at me and only sees a player. The young, single mom doesn’t give her trust easily. Convincing her I want more than a one night stand is the best thing I’ve ever done until it all crashes down around me. As I’m framed for crimes I didn’t commit, I fight to prove my innocence and … commit, I fight to prove my innocence and battle to convince Ava and her daughter to stay.
When the stakes rise, will I be able to prove my vow of devotion?

Vow of Devotion is book four in the Vow series by Emma Renshaw. This is my very first book by Emma and I’m just in love. This book grabbed me right from the start and never let go!
Ava Kincaid is twenty four years old and has finished her masters degree in elementary education, all the while raising her six year old daughter, Lilly by herself. After all the years of struggling, she has secured her first teaching position as a third grade teacher. She’s nervous and excited to finally become a paid teacher. The job was in Austin, Texas so she and Lilly have just moved from San Antonio and are getting settled into their new apartment. Ava is trying to give Lilly a few fun days before the start of school and that is where she first meets Hudson, while at the park with Lilly. She can’t take her eyes off of him, same as every other woman in the area. She knows his type, a player. She’s a mother and that is her first and only priority. There is no room in her life or Lilly’s for a play boy. No matter how easy on the eyes he is.
Hudson Wells grew up with four brothers. His father founded Wells Builders and one by one his brothers went into the business with their dad. It’s been about a year since Hudson officially bought into the family business. He’s about to head up his first huge project, building a new neighborhood in a beautiful setting. Hudson was babysitting his cousin’s kids at the park the first time he laid eyes on Ava. He knew right away she was different. And he was also instantly in love with her adorable little girl. But it was evident that Ava was a lot more reluctant to get to know him than he was with her. She was all he could think about. He had to somehow convince her to give them a chance. If he had to be her friend for awhile until he could convince her of something more, that is what he would do.
“I don’t know what it is about Ava or why I’m so completely drawn to her. All I know is I want to peel back her layers, know every inch of her body, and simply be with her.”
Hudson falls hard for Ava and Lilly and I loved how quickly he accepted that this was it for him. It took Ava a little longer to decide that Hudson was worth the risk. Hudson had so much going on right now. Not only was he falling hard for Ava, he was starting out building his dream neighborhood. Things aren’t starting out very well on the build site, though.
“You’re trouble, Hudson. You’re going to be so bad for me.”
“No, I’ll give you everything good. I’ll do bad things to you.”
I loved this book. What a way to be introduced to Emma’s writing! Hudson was so good with little Lilly. They took right to each other which made Ava fall for him even harder. He has so much on his shoulders with the new build, with a new relationship, and the trouble at the site. This was such a sweet story with that little build up of suspense that I loved. Hudson’s family is completely fantastic. I loved his mom! She’s a little tiny woman who somehow was able to raise five rambunctious sons. This book was fun, sexy, sweet, and even a bit suspenseful. I enjoyed it so much and look forward to seeing what Emma is doing next.
“We’re building something together. Something I didn’t see coming, but now I’m determined to devote my life to.”
Though I have not read any book in Emma Renshaw’s Vow series, I absolutely loved reading Vow of Devotion, book 4. I loved the blurb as soon as I read and knew it was a book I wanted to read, and I am so glad I did. The story was so sweet and charming. I fell for all the characters right from beginning and cheered them on!
Ava Kincaid has worked very hard to build a safe and secured life for herself and her adorable daughter Lily. She has her degree and has a good job lined up. Hudson Wells’ life changed the minute he saw Ava and Lily. He was a goner. I loved how determined Hudson was to show Ava how good he could be to both of them and how much they meant to him. Ava struggled with letting Hudson in, but watching him with her daughter touched her deeply.
I loved the characters in this story so much. Hudson was not only trying to show Ava how good he could be for them but struggling with other things in his life and yet you cannot help but to love him. Ava was more reserved, but she had Lily to think of and she is her priority. Could they find a way to build something together?
Vow of Devotion by Emma Renshaw was a great read. I absolutely adored it. The characters, the story and their slow burning build up. And Hudson and Lily were wonderful together. This can be read and enjoyed as a standalone and one I highly recommend. I am excited to read all the books in the series and more from this author.
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading!
I love this book. Shoot I love this whole series. Hudson and Ava have a relationship that is very realistic. Add in Lilly and you have the makings of actual relatable characters. I’ve always said that every good book should be able to tear your heart to pieces and stitch it back up again. Emma doesn’t let me down. This book is a page turner that will have your heart breaking in real emotion one page and the next page will be adding stitches to fix all the cracks left previously. There is suspense, love, hot hot scenes, and most of all relatability. It’s definitely a book that deserves to be read multiple times. So, as I impatiently wait for the final book in this series, I will start from the beginning of the series and read everything again. Thank you so much, Emma, for all my new stitches.
Vow of Devotion Emma Renshaw is book 4 in the Vow Series. This is the story of Hudson and Ava. I haven’t yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Hudson was a player and his family sometimes doubted his abilities but he kept on going forward. Then he happens to meet Ava and her daughter Lily and everything changed for him. Hudson pretty much knew that Ava was want he wanted. But Ava is a single mom devoted to her daughter and job as a school teacher, so she isn’t looking for someone like Hudson. But Hudson doesn’t give up and just keeps getting closer to Ava until she realizes that he whats she needs too. Loved their story.
I started reading this book and before I knew what was happening it said “THE END”…this was such a cute read. It was fun, hot and a whole lot of love between the MC’s.
I loved Hudson’s easygoing personality. When he saw Ava for the first time he knew she was special. I fell head over heels in love with him when he came and took care of them when they were sick (swoooooon). I loved Ava when she stood up for him. But most of all I loved how they loved each other.
Another great read by Emma Renshaw – easy 4.5*.

I absolutely loved this book. Ava is a single mom to a little girl named Lilly. Lilly’s dad was killed by a drunk driver when she was a baby. Ava’s mom and Lilly’s dad’s family want nothing to do with them. They just moved to the Austin area where Ava is going to be teaching 3rd grade and Lilly will be in the same school. Ava has to watch her spending because the money Lilly’s dad left her is almost gone. With moving it took a lot of it. It’s summer and school will be starting soon and they need to find things to keep them busy. A park is the first thing they go look for. Lilly loves the monkey bars and is a real daredevil. So Ava keeps an watchful eye on her. Ava pulls out her camera and starts taking pictures. That’s when she sees the most handsome man with 4 kids hanging off him. He finds another bench to sit at while the kids go play. Ava is so intent on watching Lilly that she don’t notice the man come and sit by her. She realized he was talking to her. Hudson wants her. But Ava turns him down when he asks her out. Hudson is determined to make her his. Ava feels the attraction for Hudson but doesn’t want to act on it so soon. They bump into one another a few times . This time when Hudson asks Ava out she says yes. Hudson even has a babysitter lined up for her. The babysitter is his housekeeper. Hudson works at the family construction company with his dad and brothers. Hudson plans to build a new neighborhood. Strange things keep happening at the construction site and he calls on his brother who is a cop to look into it. He needs to find out who is behind it. Ava and Hudson have a strong realationship, but can Ava trust Hudson won’t break her heart? Things go bad for Hudson, but when they figure out who is behind it all, I had already figured it out. I recommend this book. It was that good.
Vow of Devotion is by far my favorite from Emma. From the first page I was hooked and couldn’t get enough. I love this series and the characters I’ve grown to love. I’m going to be so sad when the Vow series is finished.
Hudson had me swooning from the moment he spotted Ava’s daughter Lilly. Emma hit it out of the park with this perfect single parent romance. It’s the mix of suspense, sweet, and sexy. The perfect combination to keep you hooked.
Ava, a single mom, and her darling daughter Lilly have recently moved for Ava’s first teaching job. New city, no friends they are starting over. Ava doesn’t have contact with her mother, her only family. A day in the park turns into a chance meeting with Hudson and 4 of his nieces and nephews. Ava doesn’t trust easy and Hudson has never been interested in more than a fling. Will this instant attraction turn into love?
This was my first Emma Renshaw book and I am so looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the series. I am sure the character background is better if you have read all the previous books but it can be read as a standalone. We get the perfect mix of romance and mystery with Vow #4. Emma Renshaw created characters that are very relatable. Looking forward to more by this author.
So if you all have been reading these books in order I really wasn’t sure anyone in this series at least could top James book I mean really I loved the giant brooding teddy bear!!! But I am very pleased to say I think Hudson topped even James. I’m always a sucker for step in parent romance books throw in some suspenseful moments and I’m a complete goner. The bond that Hudson shared with Lily and making sure to include her in everything, instead of just “dealing” with her since they came as a package deal he really wanted that role of Dad to be his and completely embraced it. It really was amazing to see the forever playboy Hudson fall and fall hard fast for Ava. Sweet sweet Ava was determined no matter what the heart wanted to keep that shield up and not let anyone in. Finally when her walls come tumbling down it so worth it. The sparks fly and I couldn’t wait just kept flipping from page to page. It really is an amazing book one I’m sure I’ll be reading again and again. If you’ve never read a book by Emma Renshaw I HIGHLY recommend starting at the beginning of it all with getting to meet the whole crew but if you choose just to jump on it you won’t be sorry! This is NOT just your typical cookie cutter romance book or series. I can’t wait to see what’s next by Emma!
I completely devoured this book! I have been waiting for Hudson’s story and it did not disappoint. The writing was captivating and I absolutely love the relationship development between Hudson and Ava. Hudson is a lovable goof who is out prove he can both do his job properly at his families construction company and that he is ready to settle down and have a relationship. This book had me laughing and so in love with the characters. It is written beautifully and I already cannot wait for more books from Emma Renshaw. The weasel entered the picture and I didn’t like him right away, knowing he was definitely there to cause trouble. I will say I thought the trouble he would cause would be slightly different but it was way worse what he did. (When you read it you will know who I am referring to). I HIGHLY recommend the whole series if you haven’t started it yet and this book! I seriously have so much of this book highlighted from all the amazing quotes!
I so wanted to read Hudson’s book. Loved it so much.
Ava is a teacher and a single Mom trying to make ends meet in a new town.
Hudson is the fun loving Playboy. But he is also a hardworking man who wants to prove himself to his family. His brothers didn’t believe in him and is less than supportive of him.
Hudson and Ava meets in a park and at first she doesn’t give in and they become friends but Hudson wants more..
One of my favorite trope is single mom and loved the relationship between Hudson and Lilly.
The storyline in very good with a little suspense.
Loved the epilogue.
“I want all of you. The good, bad, messy, crazy, fun. All of it. Give me every piece of you.”
Emma Renshaw has once again brilliantly created another amazing story, adding a beautiful couple to the addictive Vow Series. I couldn’t put it down, of course I love the world she created and even though I can’t pick a favorite, Vow of Devotion has everything I love in a book!!!! It doesn’t matter what genre you like, you’ll love it. The feels are everywhere, starting with the cover <3
Hudson and Ava felt real, I loved their dialogue, their friendship. I adored Lily and her relationship with Hudson.
VOD It’s a hot romance but so sweet at the same time.
“You have all of me, bluebonnet. You’ve had me from the beginning. Don’t you get that? I’m here. I’m fucking here and I’m not leaving.”
This book rocked my socks off!
Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Voy of Devotion is coming soon!
