Vortex by Gaja J. Kos is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number four out of five books and I can not wait to read the next book in this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about Sci-Fi romances.

This fourth book in the SCAR Force Delta Faction series by Gaja J Kos was a thrilling continuance of the science fiction story involving Cairo and Everett. Even without reading any of the previous books, which I certainly intend to do now, the reader knows most of what transpired previously to make Cairo have the attitude she has about the SCAR Force and her life on the base. The book also explores her further love connection with Everett, which results in both of them revealing large and potentially dangerous secrets to each other, which leads to book 5, which I also intend to read. This is a somewhat late voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout.
Our heroine learns that there was more to her arrest than was immediately obvious. What does that mean for her future?
This is book four of an action pack science fiction adventure. It actually reads very well as a standalone, but I strongly recommend starting at the beginning so that you understand the situation and characters.
The story is well written, easy to read and full of action, intrigue, a dose of humor as well as a bit of steam. The characters are all well developed and seem so real that that breath life into the story. The story itself is fast paced and easy to read with plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep you glued to your seat. The story is rapidly building to a climax and each one is harder and harder to put down. Obviously, I am looking forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.

Cairo knows another SCAR Delta Force secret – now what to do with the information.
We left Cairo staring at the goods which got her arrested and imprisoned by SCAR in a hangar owned by SCAR. Her crew was set up by SCAR.
Now she has to figure out what to do with the information. Who does she trust? All of a sudden her sister wants to fly out on a mission with her. Then there are her feelings for the Captain. Conflicts.
There are still more surprises in store for Cairo and they are not good.
Gaja J. Kos gives us a chance to breathe in Vortex the fourth book in the “SCAR Forces Delta Faction” series. Kos starts to lay the groundwork for the upcoming books. More details are divulged in this book as Cairo divulges what made her defect from SCAR.
We also learn what has happened to the rest of Cairo’s crew. Kos also gives us a peek into Cairo’s sister’s mindset and what this could mean for Cairo’s future. Kos has given us a full plate and then threw us into a bomb field (laugh). It was awesome. There is also another mystery mixed in there which is cool too.
I cannot wait for the next book. If you have not started this series – you really need to. Kos does not disappoint.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
Cairo MacKennon heard a warning blare and barely banked the ship to the right in time to save it from slamming into the obstacle. She had been angry for over two weeks now, ever since she found out why they were arrested. Everett tried to get her to talk about what upset her, but she held back. SCAR Force had set up her crew so they could confiscate the crates Donovan, Carrow, and Cairo stole in their last job — SCAR Force then pretended to “catch” them stealing the stuff so they could confiscate it for themselves because Stormborn Inc., the private tech company who owned it, wouldn’t sell the merchandise to them. She hadn’t wanted to drag Everett into this — he was a SCAR Force captain — so she had waited until now to tell him.
The next day, Cairo’s sister, Commander Gray MacKennon, told her she was coming with her to scavenge a ship and her previously planned work would be done by someone else. She had a momently fear that her discussion with Everett the night before had been overheard, but apparently it hadn’t. Then she said Captain Salvatore refused to have anyone but Cairo copilot his ship, which explained why she had been pulled off the other assignment. Gray wanted her to fly the ship through an asteroid belt – but there had to be something else waiting there for them. Her sister smoothly took them into space, then handed the controls over to Cairo with a smirk. And she saw what was waiting. This wasn’t just space junk — Gray wanted her to navigate through a cluster of bombs in a huge minefield! This was a test. Whatever deal Salvatore struck with the SCAR Force higher-ups to keep Cairo on his crew wasn’t giving them the results they wanted. They wanted her to train their pilots, and they needed her to prove her abilities. She must be flying similarly to her sister, because the crew responded seamlessly as she flew through the minefield. Her sister’s only comment at the other side was, “I see Captain Salvatore wasn’t exaggerating.” Having reached the massive ancient ship to be salvaged, they saw someone had beaten them to it — a slender, unmarked vessel idled above the old ship and Gray powered on their ship’s weapons, deployed their shields, and contacted the vessel! When no one responded, Gray disabled all their small vessels and sent her team in to scavenge, with Cairo sent to the top level to grab a particular crate, despite the difficulties encountered in getting to it and then getting back to her sister’s ship. What is in this crate that makes it special? And what else is going on with their strange behavior? Recalling the truth behind her arrest, Cairo has to decide just how far she’s willing to trust Salvatore.
The action and suspense in this book keeps the reader in its grip from start to finish! Excellent characters, intriguing and fast-paced story line, all combine in an outstanding adventure. SCAR Force is a powerful adversary that definitely wants to make sure Cairo is under their complete control. Where will they go from here?
Some answers appear to several things hinted at in previous installments, the feelings between Cairo and Everett coalesce, and very dangerous happenings are remembered or exposed. All with the fantastic backdrop of space travel, piloting among the stars. Or at least among the planets and asteroids.
