I am an avid reader. Volcano Watch by Toni Dwiggins was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Open the book and strap yourself in for a volcanic scientific murder solving roller-coaster experience you soon won’t forget. I’ve come to love the characters of Walter and Cassie and their world of forensic volcano geological study. Oh, and …
This was the best combination of who-dun-it and disaster story I could imagine. Twisty intricate relationships, hidden revalations, and the best description of a volcanic eruption since Robert Harris’s Pompeii. Loved it!
I am now a devoted fan of Toni Dwiggin. I can’t think past that thought. Maybe I should have only done 1/2 of a “gummy”. Read her book, it’s really good.
It kept me interested to the end.
As a skier who often visited Mammoth and lived throgh one of the major quakes in the 1980s I loved this book. Great mix of describing the town and mountain with great fictional characters and issues that could arise if Mammoth ever erupts.
The characters were fine but the story with regard to a possible impending volcanic eruption in a “real” place made it riveting for me. Hard to put down!
Murder mystery and super volcanic thriller in one, this is the 3rd in Dwiggins’ Forensic Geologist series and it does not disappoint. It reads like an excellent Sci-Fi disaster movie. With concrete scientific rationale and great characters Volcano Watch builds and builds to a fabulous climax. Kudos to Toni Dwiggins for her series, each a stand …
Loved this book I hated to put it down! Love the whole series. Great characters interesting and informative!
This is an exciting murder mystery inside of a ecological disaster. This wouod make a great movie. There are great visuals (in my head). My only qualm is that I found the ending to be a bit flat.
I love anything by Toni Dwiggins! I’ve read all her Forensic Geology series books and all are well-written, well-plotted and very entertaining. I always learn something new about geology too.
It’s a common idea in vulcanology: extinct volcanoes aren’t.
The magma chamber may be too deep or too cool to concern us on the surface, the pressure may be adequately relieved by vents elsewhere in a field, but if a volcano has erupted once, there is always a potential for it to erupt again. Toni Dwiggins takes the “extinct” volcano that formed …
This is the third in the forensic geology series and the best one so far. The protagonists are working on solving murders based on soil and mineral clues while the threat of an active volcano looms. The town is evacuated (and eventually totally destroyed). The descriptions of Cassie’s adventures in trying to find a missing Walter are real …
