There’s a darkness within her and its voice taunts her… her real name, and wanting four boys who’d probably forgotten her…
And suddenly, everything changes. Thorn, Colton, Aaron, and Oliver come looking for her just as the voices in the darkness begin to cry out.
And it turns out—it doesn’t matter how far Lacey runs, evil will always find her.

Lacey thought she could outrun her past. She has spent the last ten years as far North as she could get (Alaska) away from her guys. She remains hidden until events put her in the hospital where she mistakenly gives her real name. The guys find her fast and so do the bad guys bringing the past back to haunt them all making for one explosive story. I especially loved the growth and development of them all. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
These two authors together know what they are doing!! Once again I am engrossed into this series these two created. I need more!
In Voices in the Darkness we pick up ten years later. It is not often that you see such a length in time in between books, but it fits the story so well. Of course we see some growth from the characters, but still we keep what made us like them in the first place so much. Skills are developed more, even though they felt the loss of not being together life still went on.
Lacey is such a strong character to do what she does. The reunions was what I was waiting for and it was just as good as I hoped. They all fit back like a puzzle. But the guys are not the only ones that found her again.
So overall, this was just as enjoyable as book one if not more so. This series is really turning out to be very good, and addicting. I would very much recommend this series.
No spoilers of any kind included.
Voices in the Darkness was absolutely positively amazing!
I loved it, basically this book is another amazing story written by both Rebecca Royce and Ripley Proserpina.
Those two make a great writing team.
So it’s going to be a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend this book because it is awesome!
Wow that a great story Lacey now works as a PI for Rick Shane. She has been hiding under another last name for the last 10 years as her lives in Anchorage Alaska. She moved there to put herself far from the boys she loved to keep them safe from the darkness that’s inside of her. The darkness she used to on another demon to save the boys and there family 10 years ago. So far they hadn’t found her until one slip up and they do.
Thorn, colton, Aaron, and Oliver are all in love with Lacey . They couldn’t believe she saved them got them all home then was gone before they awoke. So for 10 years they have stuck together and looked for her. Now that they found her they are going let her know how much the care about her as grown men.
Lacey boss gave her a new job to investigate a sleep clinic were something maybe wrong . Well that something now wants Lacey. Can the guys help her stop it? Oh what a story . I live the characters all grown up as much as I did as teens. Great action, spice mystery, drama, and so much more. I couldn’t put it down. And even when I finish it I kept thinking about it. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Don’t miss it. lots of great storyline and it has reverse harem.
Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly loved it
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Lacey thought that she successfully concealed herself.
That no one would find her.
She was wrong.
Her boys found her: Thorn, Colton, Aaron, and Oliver.
Now, what will Lacey do ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
OMG!! This story just keeps getting better. Ten years is a long time for Lacey to have been gone. This book is all about the nightmares that plagues all of us. It seems monsters are drawn to Lacey no matter where she is. But her guys come back stronger then ever and ready to defeat what is trying to keep her. I want more now! Such an amazing story.
It’s 10 years after the events of Voices in the Darkness and Lacey has grown up. She is now living in Anchorage and working as an investigator- occasionally taking on some paranormal work – and is basically hiding from her guys. After a job gone bad, everything unravels – she is found and a new darkness is out there. I like that Lacey has matured and has a fierceness to her. She has become independent and built a solid life for herself. I did think that the relationship re-forming with the guys was a little too easy. The creepiness is still there – I was really wishing I hadn’t started reading this at night because I was scaring myself :). I can’t wait to see what happens in the next/final book, and I’m kind of hoping we get to see Kelly 🙂
The time jump was interesting. I was a little sad for the characters being apart that long but it seemed to work for the story. It wasn’t hard to get wrapped up in the characters and plot again. I’m interested to see where book 3 goes with the story.
It just keeps getting better already with this one being only the second one. Lacey and the guys will wrap around you better in this. Her being a PI tickled me but drama enters changes things again. Everyone wants to find her lol. There is a lot of growing up that has been done also which means events will be different. This has even more dimension that to co writing. It is given a whole body. This will keep us to the edge wanting every bit we can. I also was wrapped up good. Oh wait did I just hear something?
Voices in the Dark is simply strength of character and will! It is the second in the series and to really understand the intensity, you should read the first book. Mild spoilers on my review for the first and second book below. I can’t help but be in awe.
Lacey amazed me in how she rebuilt herself and her life in Voices in the Dark. And yet she still didn’t fully understand her potential and who she could be. I was sad to and yet happy to in regards to the guys – where they had been, how they get back to Lacey. Everyone has come so far. They have learned so much and yet they fiercely need each other and are willing to give everything to make it happen. The story is much more than just fighting monsters in the dark.
It’s been ten years since Lacey fled New Mexico and landed in Alaska. She quite literally fell into a man who fast became a friend, father figure and her boss.
As a PI she knew things could get a bit dangerous but sliding off an ice covered road fleeing from an adulterer certainly wasn’t in her plans. Neither was telling the hospital where she landed her real name.
The biggest surprise comes when her past catches up with her present in the form of Oliver Chee. He’s alone for the moment, he’s confirming it’s really her. Now the others are on their way.
It’s shortly after Oliver arrives that a ghost show up IN Lacey’s home, that’s never happened before and she’s freaking out a bit. It’s while they’re setting a circle of protection with lavender and salt that Colton and Aaron arrive.
Now it’s not until Thorn arrives that they get a look at Lacey’s latest case. The wife of a patient who recently visited the new Sleep Clinic, is claiming he is raving about demons, possession and ghosts. Although he is getting some inpatient help elsewhere.
Lacey is very glad the guys are there as things heat up with her hearing voices in her head and the definite possibility of a demon. There’s also the relationship that although it’s been ten years, is still very much there and the love just oozes through the pages.
I love all the characters in these books and the story has me wanting more. Lacey and the guys deserve their happily ever after so very much!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Fantastic!
Fantastic and utterly thrilling continuation of Lacey’s story. I loved Lacey in book one as she was feisty and fierce, but in book two she has grown into a very strong and independent woman while still being feisty and fierce. The boys are back and don’t waste any time catching up with Lacey. It’s hot and very sexy! The story is much faster paced and still keeps you captivated and highly entertained from beginning to end.
I can’t wait to read the next one!
This series is one of my favorite by Ripley. Honestly I find myself thinking about it from time to time. So to get back into it with Lacey and the guys in book 2 is so awesome. We pick up with Lacey ten years after she left the boys behind to save them from her darkness. When she has an accident at work, red flags go up and the boys…well men now…come to the rescue. And 100% they could come save me any day. But it isn’t just a sweet reunion, things that nightmares are made of call to Lacey. And it’s up to her and the guys to save innocent people. But Colt, Thorn, Aaron, and Oliver aren’t the kids she left behind, they’ve grown and have become Trappers and are exactly what she needs. Honestly I can’t wait for book 3.
Ten years! It’s been ten years since everything that happened in book one. Ten years since Lacey has seen the boys she loved. She’s been living in Alaska, lying low to the paranormal world. After everything that went down back in New Mexico, Lacey ran as far north as she could. Protecting those she loved from her darkness. So when she has a visitor show up at her door, she’s not sure how to process it.
Ok let me start by saying that book two blew book one right out the door. I liked book one, it was a good story. I didn’t LOVE book one though. I LOVE book two. Even though it’s been ten years since this group was together, they don’t let that stop them. These boys have missed Lacey something fierce and they are ready to show her that. All of her fears over the years can’t stand in their way. BUT this isn’t the only thing the book is about. Even though Lacey has been laying low in the paranormal world, she hasn’t been out of it completely. There is something strange going on in her town and she’s on the case. A new sleep clinic has opened up but there have been reports that something isn’t right. When they go to check it out, they find some very paranormal happenings. Our poor poor Lacey, she just seems to attract the darkness to her. Good thing she’s learned a lot over the years. So have the guys. Together, they won’t let anything happen to any of them again.
Again, I just fell head over heals for this book. The journey that they all have been on over the ten years will tear at your heart. I like the way that their relationships come back together after such a long time apart. How real it all played out. Plus there is such an interesting story going on with all the paranormal activity. I had my eyes glued to the kindle with the twists and all going on.
Now the end of book one had Lacey leaving the guys and headed North. It wasn’t a huge cliffhanger but it was definitely a WTF moment. After all that she just up and left and we didn’t know what was going on. Book two doesn’t have that kind of ending but it definitely has us set up for book three. After this thrilling installment I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
Lacey tried to leave everything behind her and start a new life away from the evil, but she has found that even after all these years the evil is going to find her. Lucky for her the boys she left behind have grown into strong men and are not ready to forget her. Will the men find Lacey and prove to her that they belong together and are ready to fight for what they want and need?
It was nice to see the way that all of the characters have grown and strengthened while they were apart. Lacey has survived and still fights against evil and wants to keep the men that she loves safe. Even after all the years that have gone by the attraction is still there for them all and it is too hard to ignore it. I enjoyed seeing the men fight for that love and Lacey. Their story is full of emotion and will have you turning the pages to see what happens next, hoping that trust and love will be enough to conquer their demons.
This is the second book in this series and yes, you should read book one first. Lacey’s story picks up ten years after the end of book one and although I am not always a fan of time jumps I thought that this worked really well for this series. The story is interesting and offers a complex blend of emotions, drama, danger, action, excitement and romance. There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book and a wait for book three. I am electing to post a truthful review.
Nice to have the gang all back together! This was so good and I loved that they had another caper to figure out. It was a nice, steady story. I hope Rick stays somewhat involved, I’d like to see more of his character. Looking for forward to some major action in book 3.
It’s been ten years and Lacey did go north, all the way to Alaska where she is a PI off the grid behind a fabricated name. Certain she has darkness within herself, she fled the desert and her four guys for their safety. Befuddled by an on the job concussion Lacey gives her true name at the hospital alerting their interweb alarms to her location. Mere hours pass are before the closest of them knocks on her front door, followed closely by the remaining three, with no plans to leave. Insta-love reignites all around.
I was pulled right into the paranormal story filled with the interesting mythical history I’ve come to expect from Ripley. Once again Lacey is the object of an ancient demon’s desire, and once again she’s not having it! Each of the guys has a specialty in the “family business” that helps to identify and defeat sups of all types. The visual descriptions were vivid allowing me to “see” the characters and scenes in my mind’s eye.
I really like Lacey. She’s resilient and able to laugh at the most uncomfortable and intense situations. While fighting off impossible beings she has a conscience and strong sense of right and wrong. She’s a survivor.
I’m looking forward to the adventure in the next book and once again seeing the Chee family.
4.5 stars (I’m not a fan of instalove.)

Voices in the Darkness (The Coveted Book 2) Kindle Edition
by Ripley Proserpina (Author), Rebecca Royce (Author)
Thanks to the authors for a complimentary eARC. I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
There really is nothing better than a Rebecca Royce and Ripley Proserpina team up! This is one of their better series. VITD is filled with delicious occult symbolism, sexy heroes, red herrings, and linguistic fun, it is a book to be savored, repeatedly and often.
Lacey has gotten one of her wishes, she is no longer living in the heat of the desert. She lives in beautiful, if frigid, Alaska. Of course, she is in hiding from not only the darkness she believes is inside of her, but from the boys – now men – who love her, Oliver, Aaron, Colton and Thorn. When one of her jobs as a private investigators goes very, very wrong, she winds up revealing herself to a well-meaning hospital employee and gets on her men’s radar.
After they return to her life, she is sent on another job to investigate a curious case of a sleep clinic. And things just go batty from there, bringing in ancient demons that predate the earliest stories, Greek Gods and miscellaneous bade guys.
The writing draws the reader in. The plot falls into step with ease, as these masters of their craft come out to play. The love scenes are a delight and warm the long, cold nights of Alaska.
My only regret is that the descriptions of the characters was slightly lacking, so it would be best for readers to scarf up the series all in one go.
The big battle with the big bad is fascinating. It relies more on wit, wisdom and an understanding of how nightmares work.
