Vivi’s Leading Man:
Durango Street Theatre (Book 1)
by Emily Mims
Vivi’s Leading Man is a heartwarming second chance romance. A contemporary romance filled with an emotional rollercoaster of disappointments and insecurities, that pull at readers heart strings and some unexpected surprises. Great background stories with the characters flaws, made them more interesting, good character development and growth throughout the book.
Vivi’s Leading Man is a beautifully written storyline with strong characters with good chemistry, that work well together in this story. I enjoyed reading Vivi’s Leading Man, my first romance story by Ms. Mims and I am looking for more of her wonderful work. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review; these are my personal thoughts and feeling about this book and the author. I am giving both a 4.5-star rating, well done.

Miguel had been married to Vivienne Heiser, she was a better actress than wife in his opinion, despite their differences, he regretted their divorce. He watched her from the sidelines, he was there to put a value on the Durango And the land it was on – for Vivi’s uncle Joe. The theatre is what drove them apart, he couldn’t understand why she would do rehearsals and performances and not get paid for it. Meeting outside lawyer office they are surprised to be in the same meeting. Uncle Joe had left them both the theatre – he wants to sell; and she doesn’t. Uncle Joe also left a stipulation – they must both do a full production, or risk their half of the property. Vivi loved the theatre it helped her endure a loveless marriage, the collapsing of her father’s business and after her divorce. She has to win.
This is such an emotional story! The feelings of both that they were of use to each other socially and economically lead to feeling that whatever they had was meaningless and empty. Miguel had to fight for everything he had financially responsible for his family’s welfare; Vivi born wealthy, had everything until company began collapsing; had the theatre. Their story has anger, misconceptions, miscommunication, jealousy, missed opportunities, cultural differences; as well as desire, passion and chemistry between them. The story is well written, fast paced and compelling to read hooking the reader into the complexities of their relationship. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship and navigate through the many twists, turns and emotions. There is an epilogue and a HEA
I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.
This is my first time reading something by Ms. Mims. It was a very nice read. I liked the characters, they were very well-developed and had likable qualities. Their also had interesting back stories. The storyline was entertaining and held my interest throughout and the story flowed nicely. This was a nice second chance romance that was heartwarming, but also had some unexpected twists which kept me turning the pages to see how things would turn out. An overall enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Didn’t Gel Right
This is the first book I have read by his author. I found the beginning a little off-putting. While the author did not engage in a full-on info dump right away, there certainly were a few slightly deeper into the book. I’m not a fan of these at all. I also thought the way she had the hero explain the backstory was bass-ackwards, which I found confusing. I don’t feel like the author ever really clearly said why their first marriage was one of convenience, as is stated in the book’s description. The way it’s described by the hero is as more of a relationship built on lust than one with a deeper foundation. Is that what the author considers a marriage of convenience? Since I am more of a reader of historical romance, this didn’t quite work for me. In the beginning, we were told about the first marriage rather than being shown it, and so we only have the characters’ word that that is all that it was, which didn’t seem realistic given the way they still felt about each other. Too many pieces of the puzzle of this book just didn’t fit together well.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Loved this book and it’s characters. I enjoyed all the little bits that made up this book. The storyline was amazing and well written and if you are looking for a food romance novel, this series is it.
This is the story of Vivienne and Miguel. It’s been a year since they get a divorce. Now they are forced to work together to save the Durango Street Theatre. As they are working close again the old sparks resurface and they learn new things about each other. Will they give this second chance a whirl? I enjoyed this heartwarming romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It is one year after their divorce. Their marriage had been for convince, Miguel got the societal contacts he needed to grow his construction company and Vivian got money to help her family’s dying steel business. Although there were sparks in the bedroom, they were otherwise incompatible. Now they were being forced to work together during a community theatre production. The question now, is if they can find something more than physical in their relationship?
This is a contemporary second chance romance filled with dynamic characters. The characters were well developed with great background stories and flaws that made them more interesting. The narrative was great and the dialogue was engaging. As a reader, you felt like you were going on an emotional rollercoaster as the main characters experienced their ups and downs. It was interesting to see how they dealt with their disappointments, insecurities and coming to terms with their pasts. The storyline flowed smoothly and included some unexpected surprises. Overall, I think this was a great contemporary, heartwarming, romance. If you like romances, you should consider getting this one.
