Lucas is a detective and this sets the page for a twisted love affair with Skye, who has the ability to see into the future. Their meeting is doomed from the start for a wondderful relationship, and he soons leanrs that he is a Druid. A Druid is hunting the detective and his sister, and sets his sites on Skye too. The book is full of twists and turns as the three of them run to stay ahead of the Druid who is chasing them. I don’t want to tell what happens, but the author can add flare and excitement with the twists and turns in the story. The story takes you to Ireland and Lucas learns from his background that he is a Druid too. The two, Lucas and Skye must work together to keep him and his sister safe. The end results in a trip to Ireland which I look forward to reading. The deep involvement with the characters, the sunken treasure of finding out secrets things from your past while working with someone who drives you to be someone else, historical relevances from your past, makes the book interesting.
I wasn’t too sure when I first started this book but I was quickly hooked! I loved the interactions between the characters and I really, really cannot wait for book 2!!
This was actually a fast paced story that just kept the pages turning for me. Lucas & Skye’s story is full of Mystery & Majic and also with an evil presence threatening to destroy what Skye loves the most. This is a great start to a new series by two great authors……can’t wait for more!
Gypsies, Druids and Magic….Oh My!
What an awesome book to start off a series! I was drawn into this book from the first page. Skye and Lucas meet at an art party and their lives will be forever changed
Skye Giovanni, is an artist and a gypsy seer that can see people’s death. She keeps people at a distance, as a touch from them, may or may not cause her to have a vision.
Lucas MacConnell is a police detective that cannot wrap is mind around the belief of gypsies, druids, and magic. He is trying to solve some murders and will need Sky’s help to get the job done.
Ms. Anne and Ms. Wayne do a fantastic job of weaving us readers through a maze of suspense and mystery, magic and the supernatural, twists and turns as well as romance and angst.
This book does end in a cliffhanger, so please keep that in mind. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next one. Hurry ladies….write faster!
I loved Star-Crossed. It’s wonderfully written. From the moment I started reading Lucas and Skye’s story it just sucked me in. It kept me on my the edge of my seat constantly trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I loved the mystery, suspense and magic. Although their story ends in a cliffhanger it’s definitely worth reading. Just be prepared to have a book hangover. I’m counting down the days until the next book comes out.
An awesome start to a new series. I love the dynamics between Skye and Lucas. Lucas is just yummy and I’m totally fangirling over Skye. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
Loved this book from page one. Angsty, funny, magical, well written book. Characters well developed, have real depth and personalities. Lizzie is a great character, she needs more story! I love the Druid connection, too. Recommended.
Amazing story of magic and gypsies. Skye is a gypsy seer, only she sees nothing but death. Lucas is a police detective, he doesn’t believe in magic and things like that. From the moment they meet, their lives are intertwined. Can they manage to stay alive long enough to explore their intense connection?
I can’t wait to go to Ireland. Star Crossed is the first in the series Cursed Hearts from Meg Anne. The story follows Skye and Lucas as they are thrown together unexpectedly after crime scenes start popping up around their town.
Skye Giovanni is a seer. She has the ability to see peoples deaths. Her first vision happened when she was very young. It has scarred her for life and she makes it her mission to not let anyone into her life. That is until she meets Detective Lucas MacConnell at one of her art shows. Now she is pulled into visions surrounding Lucas and his sister. Now she is on the hunt with Lucas to find out who is targeting the people Skye has come to love. It’s a grim search for a Seer to take on but she can’t watch any more people die.
Lucas MacConnell was captivated by Skye when he saw her standing on the balcony outside an art show his sister dragged him to. When he puts down the artist and her craft, little does he realize he just insulted her. That won’t stop the detective from trying to get closer to the artist. In his quest for her attention, he finds out more about himself, mainly that he is a mythical being known as a Druid. His Irish background and stories from his grandfather now explain his ability to pick up on clues to solve a case. now he must solve all the murders before he becomes the next victim.
The story captivated me from the beginning. Written by two different authors, the relationships between the characters keeps you wanting to read on. Both are fighting their abilities but know also they must work together to keep Lucas and his sister safe. Now, they must go to Ireland to see Lucas’ grandfather to learn more about his heritage and the abilities of a Druid. Pack your bags and get ready to go to Ireland in the next installment of this series. Thank you Meg Anne and Jessica Wayne for bringing us what looks to be an amazing series.
You DON’T want to miss this one! This is such a griping and fascinating start to a new series! These two authors writing styles are so complimentary I honestly couldn’t tell where one left off and the other began, which is often not the case. Skye and Lucas have amazing chemistry but neither is quite prepared for the other, not to mention the evil Druid they have to take on. I was on the edge of my seat through the entire book and I’ll be biting my nails waiting for more!
This is a really exciting and innovative take on the genre. I enjoyed the writing style and the fast-paced plot. Looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds in subsequent books!
Freaking Awesome!! It starts with a bang! I was hooked on the first chapter! Our two main leads meet and the giggles and snorting begins!! Luca and Skye will have you smiling like a sick puppy in love! Get ready cus Skye sees the future but unfortunately is all death. Do not panic, she’s willing to try and stop it! with the help of Lucas they joined forces to stop a powerful druid on a killing spree! What a great way to start this series! #TeamLucSky#useAllweaponsNecessearyEvenIFfIsjustAtampoon#OkIsSettle#NoISNot#TheWizard#MagicWordShazam#imOfficiallyDead
Another fabulous book. I am a huge PNR fan so I read a lot of it. This was such an interesting take on Gypsies and Druids. The story and character development is really good. I can not wait to read more about Skye, Lucas, Lizzie and James.
What can I say about this book . It pulls you in right from the start and keeps on the edge of your seat with every page you read you want more and more.
Skye has vision of death and when she meets Lucas her life and his will be totally fill upside down. With each word you read the more twists and turns and more things happen leaving you wondering if that just happened. They two ladies know how to pull you in and keep you wanting more. Can’t wait for the next one to see what happens.
Things move quickly and there’s no dragged out boring scenes. But there is the dreaded cliffhanger. The four main characters end up spending lots of time together as the danger from the druid with his evil plans threaten their lives.
This is a great first book, and very different from most magical fantasies that are on the market today. We are met with Druids and Gypsies, and the Fae in this book. The characters are well flushed out, and likable, and the world building is good without bogging down the book. The chemistry between the characters is spot on, and the author drags this out as a slow burn. Even though the book takes place over only a few days, a lot happens in the amount of time.
My only grump about the whole book, is even though it didn’t leave off on a cliffhanger that has you gritting your teeth, it’s still a cliffhanger and I knew as the book drug on that they weren’t going to solve this arc in the amount of space that was left in the book. It didn’t even solve any of the small arcs within the main one. But this is a trilogy, and I am all in.
4.5 Stars
To me this book is different than others in the paranormal genre. This one deals with seeing death and a rising power that is nothing like Skye has ever seen. Lucas is a detective who doesn’t believe in the paranormal , however that will soon change when he meets Skye. Everything changes when Skye sees Lucas’ sisters death. They must come together and protect her. This is a fast paced paranormal romance with suspense on the side. I can not wait for the next book.
I genuinely enjoyed this book, even though it was a bit slow paced the built up kept me up way too late. It’s wonderfully written. The world was built great. I loved how the Skye was learning and it felt as if you were right there learning as well. It was an intriguing read full of unpredictable twists that kept me glued to the screen! I loved Skye & Lucas their chemistry was great between them. I loved the mystery, suspense and magic. The book does end on a cliff hanger but it is sooooo worth it! I’ll definitely be stalking Meg Anne and Jessica Wayne to see when book 2 come out!
This is a fast-paced read with romance and tons of dark magic.
Skye is a Gypsie and a Seer, whose visions always allow her to view someone’s death. She usually doesn’t try to get involved, since she’s learned it doesn’t change anything anyway. But when one vision leaves her with the strong desire to help, she soon finds herself wrapped up in the case of a serial killer, who is so much more than he seems. Not only that, but the detective she runs into is all that she does and does not need. But she can’t seem to keep her eyes off of him.
This is a read for strong-heroine, dark magic, mystery lovers. It’s fast paced from beginning to end and holds tons of twists and turns, which keep those pages turning. Skye is a strong heroine but not in the powerful-fighter way. Thanks to her visions, she’s learned to be tough, but her weaknesses and, at times, lack of knowing what to do make her easy to root for and like. Her actions, for the most part, are understandable, and her heart is definitely in the right place. I’m am a little curious how she has absolutely no friends before this book (or real memories of anyone outside of her granny).
Lucas is the detective and Skye’s heart-throb. He’s got everything a hero needs and a very flirty attitude on top of it. The romantic tension between the two is very present and makes for a fun read. In the beginning, the come-on lines and interactions were a little off, but it settles as the book continues and makes for a great couple.
The book, unfortunately, end in a huge cliff-hanger. I would have liked a little more closure but it does makes the reader wonder what is still to come. The story is exciting, the evil guy is very fun to dislike, and the romance holds so much promise that it will be fun to see where all of this goes next.
I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed the magical world and characters enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.
death has come to her since she was seven. She has visions of death and it feels like a curse. He is being hunted and when murders start to happen he knows she is at the centre. somethings wants them both dead. Can they beat them? See how they get on
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
