★★★★★ “This author is an auto-buy for me. Each of her novels including this one is a perfect mix of angst, suspense, humor, and steaminess.”

Quick to read, long on my mind
Jacquie Biggar has done it again. Not that I’m surprised. This author not only never fails to entertain me, she does it with characters that burrow their way into my heart and take up permanent residence.
This is book six of the series, but I didn’t read all of the prior works and was able to follow the threads with no trouble, which is a testament to the author’s writing chops. She gave us just enough backstory to make sense of everyone’s history without weighing down the pacing.
The characters are compelling people. Flawed, but not too damaged. Certainly not trite or stereotypical. I felt she did an exceptionally good job making me feel for Julie, who is a widow learning to move on, and for Matthew, who never found justice for his sister and is working a case that hits painfully close to home. Juxtaposing these two with the arrogant villain was masterfully executed.
The dialogue was snappy, the plot was well-crafted, the pacing was tight. This story was a thrill ride from the first word to the last. If I had any complaint, it’s that it was over too fast. I could have spent a lot more time with these characters. I guess it’s lucky for me that this is a series!
Virtually Gone is a fast read that’s going to stay with me for quite a while. Five easy, well-deserved stars.
I am a big fan of Romantic Suspense, but Virtually Gone, this wonderfully written book by Jacquie Bigger is more than that. Right from the first page I was drawn in. The characters are so real, the storyline is suspenseful, frightening and will keep those pages turning. Detective Matthew Roy had a personal interest in this case and would hunt this serial rapist/killer for as long as it would take. The background for all the characters were strong, emotional and defining. I particularly connected with Roy and Julie Crenshaw, an investigative reporter –although all of them were well drawn out, even the villain.
This is my first book by Jacquie Bigger and I’m extremely impressed and look forward to reading her others. The details she supplies about the technology involved in solving a case is fascinating as well.
I recommend this story highly and it was a great pleasure to read!
She is drawn to the case for a deeper reason than the public’s right to know. The ABC killer has almost taken her life, and Julie wish is to save even one woman from the terror she felt and from the horror the victim must have gone through.
Connor, Matthew’s partner and Julie’s boyfriend, has anger issues, dating back to the cold case murder of his half-sister years ago. Aided by Micah Miller, who uses Forensic DNA Phenotyping to ‘boil down’ DNA results to create a composite image of the killer—Matthew and Connor can start connecting the dots.
Each of the characters has a past, each is burdened by flaws, which gives them depth and allows for a realistic portrayal of how they struggle to catch the culprit. “Matt stood there, gripping his gun and breathing hard. He’d come so close to crossing the line tonight and pulling the trigger. It scared him worse that losing the suspect. Connor was right, He needed to take a step back. Before this case cost him his career.”
In most thrillers, the female protagonist is the one nearly killed by the culprit, and the male protagonist is there in the nick of time to save her. Not so here, which is one more twist that made me like this story.
Highly recommended. Five stars.
Disclosure: I invited the author to take part in this series because I loved her work. I first learned of her writing when both of us took part in the same box set.
A gripping techno thriller that is part of a multi-author series where crime is high-tech and virtually impossible to solve! The protagonist finds herself caught in the cross-hairs of a serial rapist as she investigates the story of her career! Her boyfriend and his partner are the police assigned to the case causing conflict between the journalists and the police
This well executed story is gripping, action packed and engaging on every level. The characters are believable making them easy to identify with. Mystery, suspense and some romance make for a combustible read!
I absolutely loved this ARC book and would read more of Jacquie Biggar’s books any place any time.
Virtually Gone is set on a familiar to me place called Vancouver Island. It was such fun to re visit some
of my old haunts following Matt and Julie as they seek a murderer.
Factual and full of realistic emotions this is a book any book lover will enjoy.
Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers Book 6) by Jacquie Biggar is a mystery thriller book. I did not read the other books in this series but wish I would have. But it was an easy book to get into after starting to read it. I could not put this book down; I love the way Jacquie wrote this story so I will be going back to read the rest of her books. Julie Crenshaw is the main female character; she is an investigative reporter. Matthew Roy is the main male character; he is a detective and frustrated with his inability to track a rapist terrorizing his city. When Julie does not listen to the Detective will he be able to save her when she becomes the target? This was a great book to read, highly recommend
Another Great book! I really enjoy reading the authors work. She does an amazing job with character building and setting the scene! I look forward to reading many more books!
Virtually Gone by Jacquie Biggar is the sixth book in the High-Tech Crime Solvers series and it was a great read! I could hardly put this book down once I started reading it. It was thrilling, and definitely crime filled! I was filled suspense almost the whole time I was reading this! This is first novel in this series I’ve read, and while it is the sixth installment, I didn’t feel like I absolutely had to read the other for this to make sense. It would have definitely helped if I read the other installments, but this book could absolutely be read as a stand-alone and you wouldn’t be thrown off. Another novel from this author that I loved!
I have read a couple of books from this author and I always get my mind blown when I read her work. I absolutely love a good mystery but this author always exceeds my expectations. This is the sixth book of the High- tech crime solvers series. You can read it as a stand alone but you might get a little confused by the back story. I was hooked on the characters right from the beginning. These characters drew me into their story and I could not stop until the end. It only took me a few hours to devour this chilling mystery.
Julie Crenshaw is an investigative reporter and she loves what she does. She is just starting to get back on her feet from her past. Julie stumbles on a new case that she takes very personally. She is brought into a sexual assault case that she needs to she needs to solve before she becomes the next victim. Julie is starting to figure things out with the detective but will they be able to keep it strictly business? Will Julie figure out who the criminal is or will they find her first?
Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel (High-Tech Crime Solvers Book 6) by Jacquie Biggar. As someone who hasn’t read the others in this series I found it a little slower at first but when it picked up for me I was hooked. I’m thinking if I’d read others first it may have felt a bit different but I can say it was easy to read as a stand-alone without any confusion but more of a “hmm have I missed something in the other books?” But not so much that it takes away from this book. I am looking forward to going back and reading more. The characters are complex and relatable, each one brings something unique to the storyline. I did find myself on the edge of my seat a time or two trying to read faster to see what would happen next. I’m giving this story a four star review and recommend it. Excited to read the rest.
Virtually Gone is the sixth book in High-Tech Crime Solvers series where a group of authors have gotten together to write series of techno-thrillers, stories that have a promise of high technology and interlocking cast of characters and where one might just get away with a murder! I had read Jacquie Biggar’s Men of WarHawks series so I expected something spectacular and I was slightly disappointed! I felt that this story was not of the same calibre as the WarHawks series though overall I do not regret that I picked up a copy.
Virtually Gone takes place in Victoria in British Columbia and we meet Julie who is an investigative reporter and Matt’s partner’s Connor’s girlfriend so it makes Matt’s life, who is the lead Detective in this story, a bit dicey! Throw into the mix a serial killer, Matt’s past tragedy and you have a good formula for a great story! It took a bit for the story to really get off the ground but once it did and once I had sorted out the back stories in my head, I could not wait to turn pages and to find out who where and how and I tell you, the technology that they used for the investigations? Mind-blowing!
Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel is the 6th book in the High Tech Crime Solvers series by Jacquie Biggar. There is a serial killer on the loose in Victoria and both the police and the media are desperate to catch him. There is a conflict of interest however as Julie, an ambitious reporter, is in a relationship with Connor, one of the detectives on the case. As the killer starts to escalate the race is on to catch him before he hurts anyone else. This book can be read as a stand alone, as I did, but I think you would make the most of it if you have read the previous novels, as there is some reference to a previous book. However, this is an enjoyable and fast paced mystery with intriguing characters. I think I will go back and start the series from the beginning as I really enjoyed the style of the author.
Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers #6) by Jacquie Biggar. This book was slightly out of my normal type of reads but I absolutely did enjoy reading this book. I have read other books by this author and liked them so much that I came back for more. It was filled with crime, drama, suspense and mystery, I was not able to put it down until I was able to get to the end of the story. It kept me intrigued throughout the entire book. I can not wait to see what else Ms. Biggar has in store for us.
Virtually Gone : A Mended Souls Novel by Jacquie Biggar
Five Stars
Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel is the sixth book in the High-Tech Crime Solvers Series by Jacquie Biggar. Each book in this series is written by a different author featuring recurring characters and the theme of technology and crime. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Biggar, but definitely won’t be the last. I found the story compelling and the characters easy to relate to. It was fast paced and I didn’t want it to end, but I also wanted to find out who-done-it. I’m going to try my luck with the other books in this series, and also try some of Jacquie’s other books. I think she may turn into a go to author for me.
A young girl is murdered and Matt, a detective in a small Canadian town, is determined to find her killer. Julie is the local news reporter, his partner’s girl and a pain in his side. Julie is a widow who moved to Canada after her husband past away. Finally feeling alive again, she won’t let what could be a serial rapist ruin her newfound happiness.
This book gripped me from the beginning. I enjoyed the witty banter, action, and plot twists.
5/5 Stars
Virtually Gone: A Mended Souls Novel (High Tech Crime Solvers #6) by Jacquie Biggar
This is part of The High Tech Crime Solvers Series, but can be read as a stand alone book. This is my first read by Jacquie and I’m in complete awe. The moment I started reading I couldn’t put it down. Jacquie has a way with wording and her characters.
Julie Crenshaw, a reporter, gets wind that there are rapes happening in her hometown. After being in danger once already her boss and boyfriend want what’s best for her. Her safety. The quote I choose for Julie is: “Well, I’ll be better when I can breathe.”
Matt Roy, a cop, has been working his butt off. First, he has to hunt down a killer who was out to hurt others and now he has to find the perp raping women. He is easily frustrated with reporters trying to get one up on him. He has a need to solve this case as it hits a little close to home. The quote I choose for Matt is: “Oh, no you don’t. Go home and wait. Connor will call as soon as we have any information. I mean it, Jules. Go home.”
I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves a good crime. This has the best of both worlds, romance and suspense. Mrs. Biggar has done an outstanding job bringing these characters to life.
Virtually Gone is the first book that i have read by this author and i thought it was an interesting suspenseful story. I thought this book was well written and i enjoyed the edge of my seat feeling i had throughout the entire thing. I liked all of the characters especially the main character Julie. She is a Investigative reporter that stumbles on a case that is a lot bigger than she was expecting. This story was one of those that had me turning page after page and i am looking forward to reading more crime novels and more books by this author as well. I would recommend this to anyone that likes a good mystery/crime novel.
Happy Reading!

Book 6
By Jacquie Biggar
Great crime story.
Julie Crenshaw is the Investigation Reporter. Matthew Roy is the Detective tracking the raped and sexually abused. Their goal is to find who is terrorizing the city, and stop them. The two strong willed people are on a blazing trail. As for you, the reader, load up on the ride you’re about to read.
Jacquie Biggar is a new author for me. I was not disappointed. I love the story line as well as the characters in this book. The women are strong and determined to get answers. This was one rollercoaster I truly enjoyed. I will be looking for more from this writer. Job well done Jacquie Biggar!
Virtually Gone by Jacquie Biggar a fantastic four-star read. This is number six in the High Tech Crime Solvers series and each part of the story is written by a different author, each bringing their own spin, and Jacquie Biggar always brings a spin that will keep you turning like a spinning top, as they have this way of never letting you stop to breath as you read, the action and suspense just keeps your breath just a hairsbreadth from being able to being released fully, you are always on the edge of your seat. Julie is someone you can get behind; you know why she has the passion and drive to get to the story. Its short and I was surprised that so much was able to be pushed into such short number of pages.

I’ve read a few books by this author now usually in anthologies and I always really enjoy what she writes so I was looking forward to reading this one and overall I really enjoyed it. It did take me a little time to get into the story but I fully expected that having not read any of the series previously. I thought the story had a great pace and flow to it, my interest was held from beginning to end. I loved that the plot was concealed to the very end and I enjoyed that Ms Biggar kept me guessing from page to page what was going to happen. The characters of Julie and Matthew were really interesting to read about!
I highly recommend the story and look forward to reading more from Ms Biggar in the future.
