Roses are red.Violets are blue.Forget everything good you’ve been told about love, because none of it’s true. You don’t agree?Spend a day in my shoes and you’d curse love too.My name’s Blue.Yes, you read that right. Blue Daniels. And I hate love.I despise every single thing about it.In my thirty-two years on this earth it has brought me nothing but heartbreak and disappointment.Love is a void. … earth it has brought me nothing but heartbreak and disappointment.
Love is a void. Something we’re taught we need if we want to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Well I disagree.
Some say I’m a cynic. Other’s call me the smartest woman they’ve ever met.
But no matter what anyone says, I know what I need. And love is not it.
Enter Harris Avery.
A man who thinks he can have anyone he wants, including me.
A man who reminds me daily why I swore off love in the first place.
He walks around the office like he owns the place, throwing that sexy smirk of his at every female he passes. He thinks no one is immune to his charm.
But poor Mr. Avery has never met a girl like me before.
I’m more likely to throw myself off a bridge than at his feet.
There’s just one problem…
He’s decided to make it his mission to prove me wrong.
To that I say, let the games begin…
Violets are not Blue is a complete standalone.

Harris is a force to be reckoned with. Blue has sworn off love. These two were ment for each other. Love these characters and the book.
Blue, yep that’s her name, has sworn off love and men. A hook up now and then is good, but nothing more serious than that. Blue has been hurt twice by men and she is determined she is not going to be hurt again. Then there is Harris a fellow coworker, known as a playboy around the office. Harris is a hunk of a man who has made it his mission to make Blue love him. They wager a bet, one Harris is determined to win. Who will win? Can Harris make Blue love him before the bet deadline? Will Blue open her heart and let Harris in?
I loved this book and the way Melissa Toppen writes. The characters come to life. I highly recommend this fantastic book.
Voilets are not Blue is a office romance. Blue is a jaded girl who doesn’t believe in love. Her life is her work. It took me awhile to warm up to her. Harris works at the same office, and seen as a flirt, but all is not what it seems. I liked the banter between these two, it was funny, and boy is Harris a sweet talker. He tries so hard to prove to Blue, that she can trust him. Will he be able to crack Blue’s shell? I enjoyed reading this story.
Oh man I Loved This everything is not what it seems and Blue has serious relationship commitments and is hard headed and judgemental not that I blame her she has her reasons but oh boy I am loving on Harris the poems, flowers and just his charm will light you up in every single way.Dont let him get away was my every thought. Great chemistry and so sweet and loving I couldn’t put this down. It makes you believe.
I received a review copy before release for an honest review.
This was the first time I read this author and I LOVED this story so much. It is sweet, HOT and romantic and has a wonderful set of characters. It stars Harris, who is a bit of a manslut and flirt but is excellent at his job. He has a major crush on Blue, who works at the same company but who he was told to stay away from.
One night he decides to hit on her and see where things go and that is when they make a bet. He agrees to no sex for 30 days and he says she will fall in love with him in the next 30 days. These two then develop a friendship that was super fun to see.
Who wins the bet and do they make it 30 days I am not spoiling….but this was a super fun, flirty and well written story. I absolutely loved every character in this story and the wonderful storyline.
I enjoyed this book. This enemies to lovers romance was very well written. I really liked Harris. He is hot, charming, flirty and quite the playboy until he firmly sets his sights on Blue. Then you see he is a very sweet, funny, determined and totally swoon worthy book boyfriend. I wish I could say that I loved Blue as much, but honestly, I just didn’t. I felt for her and completely understood the walls she had around her badly battered and wounded heart. That being said, denial is not just a river in Egypt and I eventually grew tired of her anti-love mantra and her desperate need to distance herself from Harris. It was very frustrating and it made me feel just awful for Harris. Still, if you can get past that and stay focused on all the good things about this book, you’ll find that this is a really good read.
I can’t stop smiling over Violets are not Blue. This was such a fun read. Harris is more then what he seems. He will make you swoon and I love how he never gives up on Blue. This bet is one for the record books. You will love what Harris comes up with. He knows what he wants and that is Blue. Now when we come to Blue she is so antilove. You will see what I mean by that once you start reading this one. But you will love the changes thanks to her bestie Hannah by the end. Blue has this way about her that you are going to be drawn to and you see why Harris doesn’t want to let her go. I loved every moment of Violets are not Blue. You get this banter that you can’t help but smile over. You get this passion that will make you melt and fan yourself. Melissa Toppen just has this way with her words that she really makes you feel you are right there with Blue and Harris watching them fall so hard. By the time I finished reading Blue and Harris’s story I had this big goofy grin on my face that I’m still getting as I sit here and remember the little details here and there that make up Blue and Harris. This is one of my favorite reads of 2019.
This is the first book I’ve read by Melissa Toppen and it will not be my last. I can’t even begin to express how much I loved this story.
Blue has been hurt in the past when it comes to relationships and love, she doesn’t believe in it. Harris seems like a playboy but he just wants one woman and that is Blue, the one person who doesn’t want him. However, they make a bet and after the month will things change for them?
I LOVED Harris. Seriously, that man is a romantic at heart. How could you not fall in love with him? The flowers, the poems and pretty much every little thing he did. Blue, I had mixed feelings about. I felt for her because of her past, but at the same time I was yelling at her telling her to just give into her feelings and her emotions when it came to Harris. There is no denying these two had chemistry and it was explosive at times.
Violets are not Blue is a sweet, hate to love office romance that will have you falling in love with these characters.
Violets are NOT Blue is an adorable story about a girl who has been burned one too many times by love. Blue is living her life the way she likes; work, gym, family, friends, and a little freaky on the side. She has no desire to ever fall in love and believes that she has a choice in the matter. Harris is the office playboy, or so it seems. Blue can’t stand him simply out of principal. Harris is a persistent fellow and no longer wants to fight his attraction to Blue. Blue’s snarky comebacks, not realizing her beauty, and flair for life make Harris a drooling mess. I love the banter between Blue and Harris. They are both laid back, don’t take anything too seriously, and are willing to try new things. You can feel their connection through the pages. I understand Blue being hesitant and skeptical about love, but by the end, I wanted to throttle her and say wake up! Harris is a dreamboat and proves that when a guy finds a girl he can’t get out of his mind, he falls and falls hard. The witty banter, one-ups, and addictiveness of this book make Violets are not Blue a fabulous romantic comedy!
I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
my grandmother said very wisely “he who perseveres reaches” and that’s what Harris did with Blue in this story
Blue is apprehensive and afraid of love
Harris is outgoing, sexy and has a lot of love to give to that other half
I love the interaction of these 2 characters, the chemistry and attraction that they project and that Blue refuses to accept
5 stars more for Melissa, thank you and congratulations for what will be another success
It all started with a bet. One that Blue Daniels knew she could win. She didn’t even like Harris. There was no way he’d win. He was a player after all.
But see the thing is Harris is the exact opposite of what Blue has thought. And with her anti-love attitude Blue Daniels is in some big trouble. Because Harris doesn’t make it easy for her.
Melissa Toppen brings us a feel good, office romance. These two were a lot of fun to read. Harris is so persistent and Blue fights hard but things don’t always end up like you think.
A romance story for everyone.
*I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author/publisher in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
While I did love this book so much, the main woman character Blue, kind of made me frown a bit. Here you have Harris, vowing to get her to fall in love with him, and go pretty much overboard to make her fall, but Blue is just a tad too burned in my book. You will definitely fall for Harris in this one for sure, Blue may leave you feeling a bit…blue…but overall you will love the basis and heart of the story! That’s why this gets 4 stars, I do love Melissa’s work! And I do recommend this one! Grab it asap!
Melissa hits it out of the park with another book! This one kind of an enemies to lovers with Harris and Blue. Harris and Blue work together and Blue thinks Harris is a typical womanizer, man whore, etc., not worth her time, but Harris thinks Blue is definitely someone he needs to get to know better. So, they make a bet that in four weeks he can make her fall in love with him and she bets him that he can’t go four weeks without sex. Blue has had a few rough relationships and convinced herself that she doesn’t believe in love and that love it not meant for her. Find out who wins the bet and who loses! I am definitely looking forward to Everett and Hannah’s book next. At least I hope that is a book that is on the horizon since it seems that this book set it up that way. I want to know what happens with them!
I’ve been on a reading slump and this book brought me out of it. It helped me escape from my everyday life. The chemistry and banter between the two main characters, Blue and Harris, were spot on. It was extremely cute and felt real. Blue has had some bad luck when it comes to love in the past and has been burned. Which turned her cynical towards love. Well, Harris comes in and wants to prove to her that she’s wrong. I will say that there were some parts of the book that was a little cliché or I knew were predictable but the way it was written still made it enjoyable. This was definitely a cute romantic read!

This is a beautiful office romances that will have you feeling the emotions throughout this book. The book shows that angsty can keep you from loving or finding love between two people. This book will have you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.
Violets are not Blue is a lovley story. What can be better than an office romance with a little heartache. Blue has had a rough love life but Harris is determined to prove to Blue that Love is not dead. Harris is swoon worthy. Blue and Harris make a cute couple. I hope Everett (Harris brother) gets a book and we see more of Blue & Harris.
Blue does not believe in love and Harris is out to prove her wrong. The interactions between Blue and Harris was fun. I thought Harris was very personable. At times, the story seemed to drag a bit. Other than that, I enjoyed this story very much. Review copy w
I love an office romance and add into the mix a woman who has been burnt in love before and has a heart made of steal and I’m hooked. I really enjoy Melissa Toppen’s stories, the storyline kept me begging for more. I loved the back and forth between feelings and denial. What a journey.
Blue is really dead set against love but she did not bank on breaking this pact with herself, especially with the office playboy, Harris! At least she thinks he’s a playboy. Harris is, however, the sweetest man and I want to keep him for my self! He made me fall for him within seconds. If Blue doesn’t want him… hand that man over!
Blue doesn’t make it easy on Harris. These characters are well written and now feel like family to me. The side characters are an added bonus of fun and mischief that make the story even better.
This is a wonderful story of hate to love that made me smile. I would recommend you read this book ASAP.
