Roses are red.Violets are blue.Forget everything good you’ve been told about love, because none of it’s true. You don’t agree?Spend a day in my shoes and you’d curse love too.My name’s Blue.Yes, you read that right. Blue Daniels. And I hate love.I despise every single thing about it.In my thirty-two years on this earth it has brought me nothing but heartbreak and disappointment.Love is a void. … earth it has brought me nothing but heartbreak and disappointment.
Love is a void. Something we’re taught we need if we want to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Well I disagree.
Some say I’m a cynic. Other’s call me the smartest woman they’ve ever met.
But no matter what anyone says, I know what I need. And love is not it.
Enter Harris Avery.
A man who thinks he can have anyone he wants, including me.
A man who reminds me daily why I swore off love in the first place.
He walks around the office like he owns the place, throwing that sexy smirk of his at every female he passes. He thinks no one is immune to his charm.
But poor Mr. Avery has never met a girl like me before.
I’m more likely to throw myself off a bridge than at his feet.
There’s just one problem…
He’s decided to make it his mission to prove me wrong.
To that I say, let the games begin…
Violets are not Blue is a complete standalone.

Loved this couple.
Ok first of all I would start by saying that I did love the story specially Harris part. He can send me roses, violets all that he wants but Blue hmmm that lady I don’t think I’m a big fan of hers. I get that she had bad past experience with relationships but to be this frustrated it just got to my nerves to be honest I don’t know if at the end she was one of my favorites. But still like I said I fell in love with Harris and just for that Violets are not Blue was a great read for me.
Fantastic Story & Narration Enjoyable & Heartfelt!
Violets Are Not Blue
By: Melissa Toppen
Narrated by: Leanne Woodward
I enjoyed this book immensely, the story is a fabulous delight, a perfect weekend read or listen. Melissa Toped is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, her story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. Her characters continually develop throughout the story, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Past experiences with men has made Blue Daniels a cynic when it comes to love. She does not think to highly the new comer in her office, Harris Avery, a charmer and star amongst the women at work. She steers clear of him and his kind, but he has his eye on her and was waiting to make his move. When opportunity arises he does just that and makes it a challenge for Blue, one she can not back down from. He is determined to win her over, she is determined walk away. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, humor, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Melissa Toppen, thank you for this wonderful story, the witty dialogue and emotional rollercoaster ride.
And for the fabulous narration, Lisa Woodward a talented narrator and a versatile voice artist. She did an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions and personality. She covered the voices for all the characters, performed both the male and female roles giving each their own distinct voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. She handled the witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor flawlessly. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen
4 Star Review Violets Are Not Blue by Melissa Toppen
AUDIO REVIEW:
Melissa Toppen is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across her books before. Narrator Leanne Woodward is also new to me.
This is Blue Daniels and Harris Avery story
Although there was some angst there wasn’t too much which was good.
These two should not work as a couple and yet they do. I enjoyed the push and pull dynamics of their relationship. I also liked that Blue was not afraid to stand up for her beliefs.
I loved how all in Harris was and that he was determined to show Blue that he is the one for her; he is totally swoon worthy.
There was humour and romance and the narrator did a good job with her performance.
Will Harris be able to convince Blue? One click and find out.

If you are looking for a fun, sweet listen, look no further. Melissa Toppen has Violets are Not Blue for you! Violet is not looking for a relationship. Ever. Hurt before and deciding what her priorities are, men just don’t make the cut. In comes Harris, the player, the one that no one says no to. They make a dating bet, but who is going to be the winner? Harris has found the one for him, but will he be able to convince Violet he is all in and not like the others? This is the kind of listen I love on the weekends. It’s low angst, high on humor and romance and has characters that are easy to love. Harris is wonderful. Moving into a relationship for him seemed easy. Violet is a tough cookie, and isn’t sold on the change. Trust is a big issue for her. The flowers and poems, the date nights and fun romantic times had me sold.
Leanne Woodward brings out all the humor and good times with a fabulous narration. Easy to listen to, her voices are distinct and flow with ease. I enjoy her pace and her variety of voices. She always makes my ears happy.

I absolutely loved this story! It just made me smile multiple times. The story is so sweet! He secretly likes her but was told hands off…now he has a chance and he is not going to waste trying to get her to be his…forever. These characters are simply wonderful. He has a poor reputation and she is off love. There is Some challenges made with each other and each thinking they are a shoo in to win. What I love is all the sweet things he does for her to get her to fall for him.
I really enjoyed this! I loved her name (Blue Daniels) his name (Harris) as well as the whole “Roses are Red” notes. There were a couple moments that I didn’t understand why she would do what she did. But que sera sera… I liked the characters and the story. I did listen to this on audio and Leanne Woodward did the narration. She does a good job.

This is an office rom com about Blue who doesnt believe love exists after being hurt in the past. She thinks that its just a chemical reaction in the brain and it’s not real.
Enter Harris Avery who has worked at Blue’s office for 6 months and has a reputation for being a ladies man. She despises him. She thinks he is a womanizer, and does not like him at all.
I would have really liked this book more if it wasn’t for Blue’s character. It seemed like every other sentence she was dissing how much she hated love and commitment.
I loved the friendship between Blue and Hannah. They were hilarious with some of their antics.
Harris was my favorite out of the whole book. His little love poems were so cute. He really tried everything to win Blue over no matter how much she protested that it was just a bet.
Violets are not Blue is simply brilliant! I am a huge Melissa Toppen fan. That said, I find some of her books that I simply devour and some of her books that don’t hit the right note for me. This book I DEVOURED!!
It has been a long time since I have read a co-worker romance and loved it. This one has all the goods! A cocky guy. A girl refusing to give that guy attention. And the guy trying his best to win her heart, with all the shenanigans that he can pull off.
Harris Avery… He has a bit of charm that I think we all want in a guy. He knows what he wants, and he will not let anything stop him. But Blue Daniels is not having any of it!! So, bring on the BET! Harris Avery has four weeks to make Blue Daniels to fall in love with him.
The next four weeks are so fun to read!! The banter between the two of them had me smiling! I fell in love with Harris! I wanted to shake Blue a few times, but in the end, I loved her too. She just needed to work through her past to get there.
Okay, that is all you are getting out of me with this review. If I told you all of it, you wouldn’t read it… But know that this one is so worth your time. It rakes in my top 15 books of the year that I have read. It’s fun, flirty, and you get your HEA. What else could you ask for?!?!
Fantastic job with this one Melissa Toppen!! I can’t wait for the next book that you bring us!
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
Be still my heart…I want to claim Harris right now!! He is the ultimate man candy, he has a sweet side, a funny side, romantic and to top it off he is yummy!! Blue…this girl is my frustrating hero, I loved that she didn’t take his crap for one second but there were times that her stubbornness surprised even me…I mean dang how were you not affected by some of this stuff?!
This book is a bit different than the books this author typically writes, normal they are so full of angst that you are suffocating with it, this book is much more carefree but no less amazing. I can not recommend this book enough!!
**Please note, I was given an ARC for each of these books for an honest review of them. These reviews are my own thoughts and feelings and I have had no financial compensation to provide these reviews to you**
Harris and Blue. He is very pushy with her. Totally not cool in today’s society. Put me off him for the book. But I get that it was needed as a plot device to bring these two together. Then there is the bet. 30 days for her to fall in love with him and he can’t get laid in that time frame? Yeah, I get why Blue was wary about this. Because if you think about it, why would any rational woman agree to set herself up for potential heart break that way? Again, I get that it’s a plot device. But all the way around this book didn’t set right with me. Between a male main character being a pushy guy and a bet that just seems to not favor the female main character in just about any way. If you can overlook this stuff, then this book would be great for you. Not so much for me personally.

I’m not a fan of enemies to lovers romances, romances based off a “bet”. I’m a fan of Melissa Toppen and this is a good book. Harris and Blue made it a book worth reading. Standalone. Always, looking forward to another book by Melissa Toppen.
An office love pursuit begins when relationship cynic, Blue, is paired off with the office playboy, Harris in Melissa Toppens new romance, Violets Are Not Blue.
Dead set against romance in the workplace, Blue lives a cynical life. Work, gym, more work, until office playboy Harris makes a point to pursue her during the 9-5. If you are a lover of love/hate stories then you are in for a treat with this one.
Harris is annoyingly sweet as he pursues Blue. From leg brushes to compliments this supposed player wooed me from the beginning. His charm was mesmorizing, only Blue was too stuck in her head to see it.
Which is where I struggle with this book. Blue was not the most relatable heroine to fall for. Her dislike and distrust of Harris made it hard to see why he was so into her. Although the whole point to a love hate is some type of resistance and turmoil, I can say there wasn’t any reason for her to have such an immune response to Harris.
Frozen heart or not, Blue did eventually thaw to Harris’ pursuits. Although this book did tend to drag more than any other book of Toppen’s I’ve read in the past, it’s still easy to say take a chance on Toppen due to my previous reading experience.
Blue and Harris have some what of an unconventional love story. They work together, but Blue can’t stand Harris or what he stands for. Harris has always like Blue from afar, but after making a crazy bet these two truly find out what each other is about. Blue is sassy and strong, but very stubborn. Harris was endearing. I loved his poems and his flowers and the way he went after what he wanted. The story was heartwarming and a good read.
What begins as a simple bet turns into so much more in this enemies to lovers/office romance. Harris and Blue may come from entirely different places in the world but the old saying holds true of “never judge a book by its cover”. Harris’s determination to show Blue that true love does in fact exist (even from a playboy like him) was charming and endearing. I think I may have fallen in love with him a little.
Violets are not Blue had a good story, great chemistry and some witty banter but I wanted just a liiiiittle more I guess. Through the whole book we are treated with a sickly, sweet romance then hit with the angst and conclusion all in the last chapter. I felt that could have been developed a bit more. All in all I did like the story and look forward to more in this world. I can see an Everett and Hannah book in our future…
Wow, what a great, fun read. I love Melissa Toppen, she really gets you hooked with her way of writing. Blue is so against love, she has not had any luck in the love department so she has these walls up that she won’t let anyone break down, until Harris Avery walks in. He is loving, romantic and had his sights on Blue. It was so fun watching him try to break down her walls. A must read, you won’t be disappointed.
I enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers office romance. It was sweet and steamy and held my interest until the end. Its a story about a girl who was betrayed by previous relationships and has since turned off love and the guy who chased her.
I absolutely loved Harris. He was charming, persistent and sexy and when he set s his sights on Blue he went all out and will make you swoon. While I liked Blue at times, her anti-love eventually got old and I started getting annoyed. I enjoyed the back and forth banter between these two and seeing how Harris tried to get Blue to fall in love with him.
I did enjoy the story and I would recommend it to all lovers of office romance.

Chalk up another good read for Melissa Toppen with this one.
Harris and Blue were a really great couple to read about. They made this an interesting variation on the enemies-to-lovers trope. The whole story was well written and had plenty of great leading and secondary characters. I’ll admit, sometimes Blue made me want to shake her despite feeling bad for her fears caused by her past. Harris however was giving me gold the whole time. He was surprisingly super romantic and hard not to love.
Violets are Not Blue is a book that reminds me why I keep coming back for more of Melissa Toppen’s stories.
The interaction and chemistry between Blue and Harris make this story one you will find yourself totally immersed in. This fun well written romantic read is full of humor and intrigue. I found myself laughing out loud at times. A hard to put down story that grasps you from the very beginning. Loved it!
Omg what a fun read! Blue & Harris these two and office love on top of everything! Blue hasn’t had the best experience in love hence comes mr playboy can this change with these two?
