No one can ever find out what I really look like, not even my three fated mates: my tempting bear shifter best friend, the … shifter best friend, the seductive vampire billionaire, and the hot troll cop who’ll do anything to protect me.
But how can I get them to fall for me when I look like an old gran? Because if they see the real me, I’ll not only be risking my life… but theirs, too.

Violet: A Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance (Spell Library Book 1) by Mia Harlan is an amazing story that I had have the privilege to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series and I am so hooked on it I can not wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters, reverse harems and paranormal romances.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
My first Mia Harlan read, but not likely to be my last. Things to love about this book:
Small town / library setting.
Trolls, vampitch, shifters and more!
Slow burn.
Reverse harem.
Fun world-building.
Fiercely loyal, brave FMC.
Action.
FMC hiding out / on the run.
4 stars.
Note:
I listened to the audiobook; it’s a great performance and the narrator’s voice is very pleasant! I’m not sure if it’s production-related or if she just speaks extremely slowly, but I had to speed up to 3.0 in order to be able to listen to it … it sounded in slow motion before I did this. I’d listen to more of her narrations though, as long as upping the speed is an option.
I listened to this book via audible. I really enjoyed this book. The story held my interest from start to finish. I enjoyed following along for Violets story as she gets past her troubles and finding her mates. The narrator did a great job as well, I would recommend reading.
I loved everything about this. It had so many laughs along with some downs. The disguise was the best. It has everything you could possibly want in a good book. Mia hit it out of the park with this one.
I really enjoyed this quick RH read. It is hilarious & has great character development.
Good, lighthearted book. It has a little bit of everything- romance, humor, and secrets and can easily keep you amused and entertained for a while.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Firstly, I thought the premise of this book was positively hilarious and seriously creative. You don’t see romance or reverse harem novels with old ladies on the front. It’s a bit of a confusing read in the beginning. You have 2 women named Violet—one an octogenarian and one a young college dropout runaway. For more than half of the story, who and what Violet the younger is running away from is very vague until her antagonist is practically on top of you. Violet the younger, is a chameleon shifter who’s shifted into her best friend, an 80+ year old woman, and skunk shifter, who somehow keeps encountering the men she’s the mate for while she’s shifted as her elderly counterpart. Her reactions to them and their reactions to her can be kind of confusing as well. Then there was Nole the drama queen when he learned that his mate wasn’t exactly who and what he thought she was. However, once the story started picking up, I couldn’t stop reading it! It’s quirky, has some action, showed the meaning of true friendship and love, and for a reverse harem story, it was surprisingly low heat but no less enjoyable. I do hope that Violet learns to control her shifts. I read it in so little time and I think that’s one of the best things about this story. While slightly confusing it doesn’t just drag on.
This was an easy to love and easy to read Romance that didn’t take itself, or its world, too seriously. Fun, irreverent and undeniably silly, it struck me as light hearted and cute, playing against a myriad of tropes while still dancing with an unusual aspect.
Remember Amber from the Jewel’s Cafe? Violet is her sister… and they have the same power, though Violet is far more in control of the chameleon essence than Amber ever thought of being. Here, we see her in all her magical, and wrinkly, glory – hiding from a fate she can’t escape in a world of Supernatural faces that are becoming all too welcome in her unwelcoming life. It’s fast, it’s ridiculous and it offers up McGuffin’s like candy – but it’s adorable, easy to read and fully smile inducing.

This book gave me giggles left and right, between the “points” system, the fact that Violet had been next to one of her mates for over a year, had heard about another from one of the other seniors that came to the library every day, and then stumbled onto the third after first opening the book.
This story just gave me giggles left and right. Having Granny Violet carried around on flying dildos, which turn up in a later book as anything but what they appear. Getting startled into being seen as who she really is by not only one but two of her mates without her knowing. Having a bear, a troll, and a vampire for her harem has Violet up in arms. While the senior violet then finds out she has a little harem of her own that are all vamps, this story keeps you reading, giggling, and on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next!!
As soon as I finished Violet, with her happily ever after, finding out how a practical joke turned out with the brothers of one of her mates, and defeating the big bad. I couldn’t help myself, I bought this book and the rest in the series to see what Love Blooms did next!
I definitely give VIolet five winged Dildos straight up as I loved the story and the epic laughs that kept coming.
I have never laughed so hard ever while reading a book! This book had be cracking up so much I was crying! I wish I could rate this book 100 stars because it’s that hilarious! I loved this book it was epically amazing!
I’m so happy I got this book!! Its a great take on reverse harem. Great read! Great characters and setting! I’m sucked into this universe. I immediately picked up the next book in this series! I cant wait to read more!!!
One of the quirkiest, funniest, unique books I have been lucky enough to read. I adored both Violets and loved how things worked out. I was laughing so hard I cried at parts.
What an amazing book! I was skeptical at first but I honestly really loved it. The book was funny and thrilling. And I am loving that this mysterious book keeps getting passed around
This book was adorable–so funny and charming.
love granny in her library!! fabulous read!
This is a fun, quirky paranormal reverse harem romance! A chameleon shifter hiding out as an 80 year old granny with a hot and sexy harem sounded so intriguing I just had to read this and it did not let me down! With The sweetest bear shifter, A seductive vampire mage and a hot troll cop , twists and turns and humour that had me crying with laughter, I just could not put this down!
I loved Violet ×2. The relationship and love between the Violets was sweet. I loved shy Nole and how he “pined” for Violet for a whole year before he told her he was her mate. Liam being Betty’s grandson was a nice twist and helpful to have a cop on her side. And who can resist a blitch, LOL! A billionaire vampitch who rallys the town rounds out her mates quite nicely.
It was ok read but a little confusing for me. Who was shifting to whom and why? Need to go back and forth .
The idea of this storyline was interesting, I guess chameleon characters added to the spice and laugh.
I will definitely read more books in this unusual series
This is my volunteer review
I loved the Jewels Cafe series so I was very excited to learn the authors of that series were coming together again to write more books set in that world. The first book in the Spell Library series focuses on Violet. Not only is Violet a hilarious main character to follow, but the experiences between her and her men are a hoot. I did not know what to expect with a chameleon shifter keeping her real identity a secret in the form of a granny only to find herself mated to three extremely hot men, but this book did not disappoint! I can’t wait to read more in this series.
I loved this book! This is a great starter RH book for those that want to dip their toe in the RH pool. It is cute, easy, and a slow burn. The heat level is at sweet instead of hot and steamy. I also love the granny gets a harem!
