The devil has a name, and it’s Cristiano de la Rosa. On my wedding day, he was the last man I expected to see standing at the altar. He wants to make me his queen. His brother wants to rescue his princess.Getting Cristiano to lose control becomes the name of the game, and the stakes are life and death. But as truth and lies blur, loyalty is tested, and our chemistry threatens to reach the melting … the melting point, the prize grows less clear. Either freedom no longer means what I think it does, or Cristiano is as devious as everyone says, and he’s mastered the art of playing my mind.
All I know for certain is that nothing is certain. And all you need to know?
This is a love story.
But even love stories have to end.

AMAZING! You only thought you seen all the lies and betrayal in the first book! This book dives right back in where the first book left off. The story only gets more twisted and will leave your head spinning. This is a trilogy so of course some questions get answered and some new ones arise. Since this is only the second book of course this one ends on a cliffhanger.
This series just gets deeper and deeper and leaves me with more and more questions! Violent Ends is the second of three books in the White Monarch series. This was definitely a typical second book because it didn’t necessarily resolve or answer any questions left from the previous book, but rather built on the premise and plot from the first book and then left us with a huge cliffhanger! This book is all about Natalia and Cristiano navigating their new way of life after getting married. The doubt, questions, and mistrust that Natalia has continue to grow with the additional information she continues to obtain. With this book mainly in Natalia’s point of view, we don’t get much but do get a little from Cristiano’s perspective that eludes to the bigger picture of the plot. As usual, I love Jessica’s style of writing and how she is able to continue to draw the readers in and build up this book universe even more. There are so many questions that continue to build; the suspense definitely overpowers the romance in this series, especially in this book. I can’t wait for the final book! Between the cliffhanger and the questions I have, I can’t wait to get them all answered!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Violent Delights, book 2 in the White Monarch trilogy, does not disappoint! Picking up where the first book ends, Natalia finds herself in a situation she never knew she would be in with a man she would prefer to never be around.
I don’t want to spoil book 1 or book 2 but will say that this series feels like a departure from Jessica’s typical genres but it is no less amazing. She continues to weave a story of family, whether blood or not, and how those relationships mold their lives. You will not be disappointed and find yourself waiting desperately for the conclusion in November!
I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS SERIES!!
Violent Ends picks up right where Violent delights ended, with Cristiano and Natalie married. I was so excited to finally read this book, I wanted to see how Cristiano really was, what he was capable of, and if he truly cared for Natalia. Let me just say, Cristiano is the KING!!! I love him so much I just want to jump inside the book and keep him. I loved how we got to see him open up, we got to see his true feelings for Natalia. He would do absolutely anything and everything for her, we see a side of him no one saw coming. Natalia is heart broke, she has an image of Cristiano that is nothing what she expected. I love seeing how Natalia starts seeing how he really is, she starts wanting him, needing him.
I love these characters so much!!!! I need the next book ASAP!!!!!! Jessica Hawkins NEVER disappoints!!
I’m not sure where to begin… so many emotions running through me. I may be biased but Natalia was irritating me to no end!!! At least in the beginning. I feel like Natalia has preconceived notions about Cristiano and her father and Diego have re-enforced these ideas about him. So when she sees something different, she can’t be sure if she can trust it. It is understandable that she has these negative views of Cristiano but I feel as though she hasn’t allowed him the chance to vindicate himself. In some way, I feel Natalia is still a little naïve in her beliefs that the people she loves have her best interests at heart. I did cheer when she pointed out her they had betrayed her because it felt as though she was finally opening herself to seeing the reality of the world rather than the fantasy she hoped for. There are moments were Natalia fights against those who wish to control her and I love it. Her desire to fight for herself inspires pride in me. But Cristiano is the keeper of my heart. He is made out to be the bad guy but I know he is more than the labels others have placed on him. He wants Natalia to learn self-defence and to know everything happening around her. In a way, he gives her the independence and power that not even her father provided for her.
The story has a slow simmering heat that builds and builds but doesn’t go over its peak. I just wanted to scream and say, do it, do it now! Where is my satisfaction? This will make more sense after reading the story. In a way, I feel like this book is foreplay. Building up to this incredible climax but denying us because we aren’t ready. We are being strung out almost identically like Natalia. How Natalia stays strong is a wonder. But moving past that… Dios mio! I don’t know how I will cope with the wait for the final book. So much has happened and I’m worried about what it all means. Double meanings and cryptic messages about what the future holds are causing my mind to whirl. Jessica Hawkins is a masterful writer in the passion, detail and thought she pours into each word. All I can do is grab a large tub of ice cream and eat my feelings until November.
Can not wait for more! This book has build us up and now I need to see how it ends!
The angst queen ascends AGAIN! This angsty jewel of a book has it all! And you’ll love every steamy, action-packed minute of it!
Mierda!! After that cliffhanger ending in Violent Delights, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on book 2 to see what happens between Natalia and Cristiano. How is she going to handle the situation that Diego has put her in? For such a privileged and protected girl, does she have the fortitude to hold her own against El Polvo, the nickname given to Cristiano? She’s heard the most terrible rumors about him all these years, is she going to survive him?
I absolutely loved seeing things from Cristiano’s perspective. Learning from his conversations with Natalia what rumors are true and which ones aren’t. I knew from the beginning that he was the brother I was going to side with, regardless of what he’s done in the past or is doing now.
Natalia is very quick to think on her feet and she holds her own against Cristiano, but Por el amor de Dios, I wanted to shake her SO many times! She is holding so steadfastly to things she thinks she knows without any concrete proof, and is so stubborn to not let go of preconceived notions. Oy, I wanted to crawl into the pages of the book and be like, “girl…let’s have a chat.”
There are twists and turns galore, hints placed that are leading us toward a dramatic conclusion in this explosive series!! The slow burn between Natalia and Cristiano is scorching hot!! I’m trying so hard not to forget anyone or anything as I’m reading because I just know things are going to pop up in book 3 that I wasn’t paying attention to along the way and those things are going to rock my socks!!
Jessica has me totally enthralled and invested in the Cartel life! I thought that cliffy we got at the end of book 1 was bad. The cliffy at the end of book 2 nearly made me pee my pants! Jessica is pure evil to leave us like that!! Come on November, I NEED the rest of the story!
Warning: Violent Ends is the second book in Jessica Hawkins’s White Monarch series, a cartel romance trilogy set in the Mexican desert. Violent Ends is NOT a standalone–you must read Violent Delights (check out my review here) first to enjoy Violent Ends.
Violent Ends picks up right where Violent Delights ended and since this book is the second book in a connected series, I’m not going to describe the plot to avoid spoilers. Just know that in terms of plot, I was hooked! In book one, there was a lot of set up so the first half was slower, but now that we’re in the second book we jump right into the action and I ate it all up!
If you’ve read my review of Violent Delights, you all know I was Team No One when it came choosing which man to ship Natalia with. I never trusted Diego (I just knew he had some kind of hidden agenda), and we never really spent much time with Cristiano and we were getting details about him mostly through a secondhand source. It was fairly obvious he was endgame for Natalia early on, but I wanted to hold off giving him my full support until I learned more about him.
Well, Cristiano finally takes center stage in Violent Ends and I can firmly now say that I’m Team Cristiano all the way. I liked how the author heightened the sexual tension between Cristiano and Natalia–it fairly sizzled off the page. There was a lot of distrust in Natalia’s part, and her warring feelings between Diego and Cristiano was understandable, but oh man I was yelling at them to bang already! but I loved/hated how the author tortured them (and me) for a while . We also finally enter Cristiano’s domain in the Badlands, and we meet some new and very interesting secondary characters.
The White Monarch series is wonderfully atmospheric, deliciously dark and sexy, and the mafia/cartel romance of my dreams. If you like dark, sexy mafia romances with morally gray characters, a twisty plot, and a steamy romance, I highly recommend you pick up the White Monarch series. But, start with Violent Delights before you pick up Violent Ends. We were left with another cliffhanger that had me panting for Violent Triumph, the last book in the series. I can’t wait to see how the author will conclude this unputdownable series. Thank goodness it’s not that long of a wait–although waiting until November just might kill me.
5 OMG….I NEED MORE STARS!!! OMG….What just happened?!?! This series is phenomenal and will be my top trilogy this year….I already know. I am so addicted to this series….I am dying for the next one. Jessica Hawkins has hit this one out of the park. You need this book in your life…..start now.
Jessica Hawkins does it again with Violent Ends. I don’t want to say too much and I don’t want to say too little. I need you to know that you have to read this book.
Seriously, this is the perfect follow-up to Violent Delights.
“The devil had a name—Cristiano de la Rosa—but from this day forward, I would call him husband.” What more do you need to know?! Go grab this page-turner right now!!!
Hail to the Queen of the Calaveras!!
What. A. Story!!
After the jaw dropping ending in book 1, I couldn’t wait to read and discover what direction the author was going to take, and let me say she delivered in spades.
First of all we didn’t have to wait long which is important so you don’t forget, then the author begins Book 2 at the end of Book 1 so I didn’t lose the flow of the story. Then the story was flawlessly written and we learn more about the characters insight and secrets.
Natalia especially evolved from a mariposita princess to a Monarch Queen!!
That said, fasten your seatbelts belts and hold on tight. This is one, bumpy, gripping ride!
Nothing is what it appears!
Exciting, thrilling, heart wrenching and suspenseful. All the characters continued to grow and evolve. However, Natalia’s character was my favorite! She proved her strength and her fierceness in this installment as she made painful discoveries.
The stage has been set to decide who’s enemy and who isn’t . More importantly what must she do!
At some points I felt like I was experiencing sensory overload there was so much going on!
So much angst, turmoil, heartache and passion yet it all fit into the story!
This installment shot this series to my top 2019 top reads!
I. AM. DYING!! The second book in this thrilling trilogy had me completely caught up in the push-and-pull of Cristiano and Natalia all through the story, with an ending that left me totally breathless.
“Something new had entered his voice. Longing. Desperation. As if he’d been in need of something I was now offering.”
This book was one of my most anticipated reads and the author didn’t disappoint. She has an exasperating talent for building the tension and sizzle between the two main characters until you’re absolutely gagging for the fireworks between them to explode into what you KNOW will be a stunning and fiery explosion. I’m so ready to cry for mercy from the relentless battle of wits and emotion between them. Honestly, November can’t come soon enough. I’m almost beside myself!! LOL
“I’d break down that defiance until I found myself in her sweet core. She would cross over into the darkness. And I’d be waiting with open arms.”
This story has mystery, brutality, deceit, secrets, sexual tension, and burgeoning tenderness. I ADORED IT!
Suffice it to say, if you haven’t picked up this trilogy yet, go and grab them – or, not. As you’ll probably die of frustration like me waiting for the conclusion later this year!! LOL
Another page-turner from the amazing Jessica Hawkins! This series is a must!
Ya’ll I’m obsessed with this cover!!! I cannot wait to get started!
“The devil had a name—Cristiano de la Rosa—but from this day forward, I would call him husband.”
Violent Ends is book 2 in the White Monarch trilogy, a “sexy, smart, and well-written” (Angie’s Dreamy Reads) series from USA Today bestselling author Jessica Hawkins.
They way I was pulled into this story from the begging was unreal. The power. The violence. The arrogance. But THE HEART!!!!! This just proves that no matter how much money, respect or power you have it means nothing without what you really need and desire. And you will go to any lengths to get it.
Violent Ends is the second installment, and the author continues were she left off in the first book, Violent Delights.
Natalia is growing stronger and she learns to open her eyes and to see that some things isn’t always what it looks like. I loved to get to know Cristiano better in this book. He’s a definitely anti-hero with a big heart.
“For every door she slammed, I would open another. I’d pursue her. I’d break down that defiance until I found myself in her sweet core. She would cross over into the darkness. And I’d be waiting with open arms.”

Jessica Hawkins displays more brilliance in this second installment of the White Monarch series. Natalia and Cristiano take their newlywed status to the Badlands, where nothing is quite as it seems. The highly charged push and pull of this couple was a page burner for me! It brought epic portions of lust, suspense and heart to a new level. Fantastic!
Ms. Hawkins has become a master at trilogies. Each book gets better and better and the cliffies leave me hanging, begging for the next book! This trilogy has so much angst and chemistry between Natalia and Cristiano. Ms. Hawkins has truly outdone herself in this suspenseful tale that will leave you on the edge of your seat, begging for more. How will we wait until November? Great read!
