I was born a princess among criminals. An untouchable among thieves. Heiress to a life others have killed for, and one I’d do anything to escape. I vowed not to leave without Diego, my first love and best friend, but if his ruthless brother has his way, I won’t leave at all.Cristiano de la Rosa is a man as big and bold as his legend. Once upon a time, he was our cartel’s best soldier . . . until … . . until he became my family’s worst enemy. And a man like Cristiano will bend fate to his will to get what he wants—even if it means tearing me from another’s arms.
Because in the de la Rosa family, old grudges run deeper than loyalty, and betrayal is a three-letter word: war. But this feud isn’t between enemies—it’s between brothers. And I’m the prize.

Intense. Dark. Delicious.
Two brothers. One cartel princess.
Violent Delights sunk its claws into me from the beginning and did let go. I’ll be impatiently awaiting the next book in the series to see where Jessica Hawkins takes Natalia and the de la Rosa brothers.
“ ’ . . .”
The queen of BEAUTIFUL ANGST is back, my friends, and she is bringing it HARD! , book one in Jessica Hawkins’ series, was captivating, intriguing, exciting, and incredibly addicting! I’m absolutely HOOKED! I’ve been seduced in the best way possible and there is no going back. It’s no secret that I’m a slave to her words, but I haven’t been this pumped for a brand new series in quite a while. And this shiver-inducing, suspenseful, and seductive CRAZY TRAIN of a trilogy has just begun!
Natalia, Diego, Cristiano…what the hell will become of these three? Everyone will have their favorite. Everyone will have their guesses on how this all will turn out, but if I know this author, well let’s just say…things can switch up in a blink of an eye. I would expect nothing less from a romance author of this caliber. Just have a nice strong drink at the ready, because my guess, when you get to the end of this, you’re gonna need it.

This book has got me on the edge of my seat. I instantaneously fell head over heels for the characters. Sweet Talia, who is a strong hard headed herione, and two brothers at each others throat at every turn. Diego devoted, protective, and smart, and Cristiano who is arrogant , powerful, Dangerous, and down right dirty. buckle up and get ready for a ride through the lives of a very powerful family dynamic into the drug cartel. This trilogy will have you begging for more. The fued, fire, and passion between Talia, Diego , and Cristiano is something us avid readers look for in a book. Its a angst fest but of the best kind. The next installment is going to be so worth the wait!!!
3.5 stars…
I was definitely intrigued when I seen the cover, knowing the author was going in such a different route than normal. I thought the author did a great job writing about the cartel. I am intrigued and on edge wanting to know what is going to happen and how things are going to play out. This book is written in Natalia’s POV with a chapter each from Diego and Christiano, which only added to my second guessing of everything. I am not sure who is good or bad and who is only out for themselves. I felt Natalia seemed a bit immature for being 20 even if she’s lived a secluded life. I also felt like the story got a bit slow in the middle and I started to lose interest but it didn’t take long to pick back up.
OMG What a book, I was completely engrossed, it was completly unputdownable. The plot twists and turns were fantastic, I loved not having an idea what was going to happen next. This book is Jessica Hawkins at her very best. The angst completely killed me, I was galloping through and then I was devastated when I reached the end, I’m going to completely die waiting until June. I have no idea where this story is going to go but I’m certainly going to enjoy the ride. Im going to have another re read to process everything and enjoy it all over again. I am a huge Jessica Hawkins fan and this book delivered in every way possible. I highly recommend and would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Enjoy !
This book killed me. It started out with action and just leaves you gripping you heart tightly. I wish I could say more but bad things would happen if I did. I’m excited to see what is down the road for Natalia, Cristiano and Diego.
4.5 stars
Where do I even begin? It’s been a minute since we received a story this intricate from Jessica Hawkins. It’s a huge web that you become entangled in. It’s not just Natalia and Diego that we’re learning about and seeing, Cristiano is always in the background just waiting to strike.
The thing about this author is that she doesn’t just write a simple story. As seen in Violent Delights, she writes masterpieces that you can help but be lost in. A maze that you spend the entire time trying to make it out of. You’re trying to put together all of the pieces, trying to solve the puzzle the entire time. The characters and plot in this book were amazing. It was all so well thought out that before you know it, you’ve devoured the entire thing. And then you reach the ending….it’s a series for a reason. I don’t mind waiting for a story when the end result is like this. Completely addicting and mind blowing. Bravo Ms. Hawkins!!
REVIEW: 4+ STARS
“Some things can’t be taken. Some things must be given.”
Yet again, another winner. SO worthy! Jessica Hawkins’ words can totally make me mad in one instance, yet she has the ability to immediately soothe me with her next words. Seeing all the intricacies that are weaved so deep within this story makes me excited for the possibilities for the next two books – my head is already spinning!! I have so many thoughts running through my mind, and so many questions to correlate with those thoughts. Great opener to this newest trilogy and I think it was a fantastic beginning. This was definitely the kind of book you need to go in blind, but also…the kind that you can’t help but want to discuss in depth afterwards.
I can definitely appreciate that I was able to pick a team instantly because while one brother was cold and calculating behind a façade, the other one was just cold and calculating with a goal in mind. SO, the cold and calculating one got my vote. HAHA! I love how this story is taking shape already. I can only imagine the amount of discussions I can and will have in the SPOILER ROOM. I know that I’ve already spilled my guts in there on a few posts, and I see that the conspiracy theories are aplenty. There was so many layers to divide and dissect, and it makes for fun discussions. I won’t lie, but it read too quickly for my wants. I was certainly NOT done enjoying this first part of their story….but it ended too quickly! You know a book has you wrapped up when you can discuss all the many different aspects of it and still come away with different thought processes. Some discussions will change my mind on what I think can/will/did happen, and some of it makes me shake my head at the ideas! That’s Jessica’s writing though. Completely turned my world upside down in one day and now I am left waiting until June, rummaging through my mind with possibilities and conspiracy theories. ABUNDANT, I may add. This wasn’t very twisted like I thought it was going to be, so no mind-fuckery was happening, but I will tell you that the twistedness that are these two brothers is pretty crazy. I can feel the angst building up, but this one wasn’t too terribly angsty to start, but when Cristiano touches her….ohmygosh. I can *feel* the sexual tension rolling off them and I can’t wait to explore it!!!
Jessica provided me a story ripe with manipulations and lies, but scattered in between were some seriously heavy truths as well. I mean, to already be so invested in these characters and to question the meaning behind the most trivial of things, I am shaking my head. Pay attention to the scores!! I loved that I was able to be super angry at the way something was happening – like, seeing red angry, but other times I was under a spell and just knew I was in it for the long haul. Even understanding that there was a discussable meaning and reasoning behind all the happenings didn’t make some of the hard parts easy to swallow, and that was a big deal for me. I want those twists and turns. I want that anger and emotional confusion – and Jessica does that soooo well. While it was somewhat predictable at times, the layered truths that Jessica gave us to look forward to unraveling in the next two books left me giddy! I always say I’m such a slow reader, but then I get Jessica’s book in my hands and I can’t help but fly right through it. Argh!!! I’m all sad now. Is it JUNE yet?? Because NOVEMBER is going to be a loooong wait!! I will need ALL the cookies to survive this wait. She got me good. Real good.
This book ended on a gasp and I was fuming but oh-so-intrigued, so I have NO doubt that the next two books will be heart-poundingly good! I’ll admit, for a non-lover of cliffies, this was a great cliffhanger! I’m sure I’m going to be pulled out of my comfort zone here soon. As a matter of fact, I’m counting on it. This is most definitely a case for having to trust the author with the plot because with three books to get through, this first one was rather rough on the heart in a few spots. There is so much to think about and so much to ponder. I am so ready for more!!
“My brother’s using you to light the fire, but don’t forget – a match also burns.”

What a devilishly delicious triangle – Natalia, the beautiful daughter of a notorious drug lord, and 2 brothers: Diego, the sweet, compassionate man she loves and Cristiano, the ruthless, cold and extremely dangerous older brother who inspires fear in her but also fires her blood. Their very antagonistic relationship and taste for the same woman will ignite a series of events that will draw you in from the very beginning. How can you go wrong. You can’t.
I knew I was going to read and love this after reading the Something in the Way series, one of my favorite series ever. Jessica became a go-to author for me after that. This story has the same intense, angst-ridden quality of the SITW series but with the Mexican cartel touch to it, which means it’s more dangerous, with life and death situations and all the yummy stuff like murder, lust, revenge, betrayal, deceit. It’s all in here. This author has the awesome ability to build up a story with unforgettable characters and intricate plots that mess with your head because you thought you knew where she was taking you but you’re wrong. All is not what it seems. I don’t want to give anything away so I will just say you NEED to read this right now. I can’t wait until the next installment.
How much I LOVE this book!
I’m astonished on the author’s ability to craft this intricate story, it’s just incredible how you are capable of building the Violent Delights world in your mind through every detail the author carefully put into the storyline.
From moment one I was easily lured in by the many questions that came to mind with just the first few pages. I was like a kid in a candystore, dying to taste every bit of the sweet temptation that surrounded me as I immersed myself deeper and deeper into the cartel world. I was super curious about every event that took place in the Violent Delights timeline, that shaped every trait of each of the characters personalities. Natalia, Diego and Cristiano will make you fall in love with them so deep that even when you should probably hate them, or at the very least, be mad at them, you’ll do it passionately for a moment or a bit longer but it won’t destroy the love you feel for them, it will probably just put a dent on it.
From the layered characters to the complex build up and development in their relationships and how the author beautifully weaves the story with every string of words she puts in it, you’ll find out how quickly this one will captivate your attention and how gladly you will give yourself to the angst, the suspense and the sensuality of it.
A breathtaking, thrilling and spellbinding story.
I would give this book more than 5 stars if I could! It is such an amazing book and I can’t wait for the next one. It’s going to drive me crazy to wait until June but I’ll wait because I want to know what’s going to happen next! Ms. Hawkins is a very talented writer who brings her characters to life and pulls you into her book like you want to be there with the characters while everything is happening. You will love this book and I am sure the entire series.
Diego and Cristiano de la Rosa were part of the Cruz cartel after their parents were killed by the Cruz cartel. Their parents were also the head of their own cartel so I guess you can say they were already in the life. As you can see I would think it is way twisted that they were cared for and worked for the cartel that killed their parents. When Bianca Cruz was murdered, one brother was accused of the crime so he escaped while the other stayed and continued with the Cruz family and also watched out for Natalia Cruz. When Natalia comes home for the Easter holidays, she somehow becomes the woman that is the center of attention of both de la Rosa brothers, one having return from escaping after her mother’s murder with supposed proof that he was not the murdered.
As you can imagine, Cristiano and Diego have some major issues to resolved and since they don’t trust each other and they both want Natalia. I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next. What are the brothers going to do and what is Natalia doing to do with her attraction to both men, one she loves and one she “hates”. And will we ever find out what really happened to Bianca? These are some of the questions that I have after the first book so I definitely can’t wait for the next book! So excited for this new series by Ms. Hawkins.
This is the first book in a series.
And wow! Just wow! I absolutely loved it. Jessica Hawkins had me from start to finish with this book. It kept me wanting more. I just can’t wait for the next book!
There are no words to describe this incredible book. If you’re new to Jessica Hawkins, this is a wonderful place to start your obsession. If you’re a returning reader, this isn’t like anything she’s written before– it’s ten-times better!
I’ve loved her writing for a while now, she’s an instant 1-click author for me. When I saw this cover, I knew I was in for something entirely different and exciting and I was not disappointed. I could not put this down once I started.
Natalia Cruz is a woman who has one goal, get away from Mexico with the love of her life. But it’s not as easy as it seems when she has a father to convince, a man who is back in her life to haunt her days after so many nights of terror in her dreams, and her love having a hard time letting go.
Through many ups and downs Natalia ends up having to make decisions that she doesn’t want to have to make but are necessary for the survival of the men she loves most.
You won’t regret this read, it’s my favorite of 2019 and I cannot wait to see where the White Monarch series leads.
Wow EXPLOSIVE!!!!! A love triangle like no other!!!!!!! Jessica Hawkins has created another masterpiece!!! Violent Delights had me up all night reading because I couldn’t put it down till I was finished. Problem is the waiting g now for book two!!
Natalia is in a league of her own and a women thy is unattainable because of her father. She is the princess in Mexican Cartel Empire and her father is the King!! Natalia is in love with one brother, yet the other is determined to have her. Natalia also wants out of the life she is in for a simpler one in America. Al of these things take her down a dark, twisted path that scares and entices her.
Two Brothers, Diego and Christino, both want Natalia but both for different reasons and they are not all honourable. The hatred between the two makes this book dark and dangerous and utterly delicious.
I am completely blown away by this story and the characters. I have not read a love triangle this intense ever!! The life that these families lead is gut wrenching violent and hard to take at times. This only added to the book’s depth and allure. I cannot wait for book two. Well done Jessica.
“She is mine.” Three words. Two different men.
A life, future, and love I don’t get to choose.
Violent Delights is book one in the White Monarch trilogy, an addicting new series from USA Today bestselling author Jessica Hawkins.
I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself !! Jessica Hawkins Queen Of kindle throwing has written yet another epic twisty tale that has your heart racing, blood pumping and hands twitching.
One girl , two brothers !! It has heartache written all over it!! Jessica has taken a step away from her usual setting and based this story around a mafia family. It’s a slow burn but c’mon if you’ve read this author before you know the drill, she plays the long game that’s what makes me keep coming back for more!
Ending on a massive cliffhanger, but hell! I knew it would before I even opened the damn book because this author sucks you in , keeps you captive , puts your heart and emotions through the spin cycle before finally resolving your pain. If you suffer with a heart condition, this author is not for you lol
There was a lot of hype about this book prior to release. But I wasn’t really surprised. Jessica Hawkins is a fantastic writer and if you’ve ever read anything by her before, you know that you’re going to get a good story going in. She has yet to disappoint me and with Violent Delights, I think she might even have raised the bar. This book started off with the kind of scene that practically grabbed me by the face, and told me to watch and don’t look away. And as I continued reading I didn’t want to. This book held my attention to the very end. And now I find myself desperate for more but having to wait. This is going to be one seriously long wait…. But Cristiano will be worth it.
Violent Delights is sinfully steamy!!
This book was so amazing I could not put it down!!
Natalia has to face her demon(s) at a very young age.
Robbed of her innocence and trust in those sworn to protect her, she must now fight the battle of her lifetime to keep her true live by her side.
With her Father’s future in the line- will she surrender to failure to protect him? Will she chose the boy she has always loved?…or will she surrender to the darkness to protect t everyone she loves??
This book drew me in from the very beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end.
Cannot wait to find out what happens next in Natalie’s story!!
jessica switched it up and I LOVE IT!!!! i devoured this book and i can’t wait till june. jessica brilliantly wrote this book soooo brilliantly that it just makes you forget the whole world and you get so wrapped up that june seems soooo far away
Natalia Lourdes Cruz is a princess, but her life is no fairy tale. As the only daughter of Costa Cruz, head of the Cruz Cartel, Natalia’s life is not her own. She is a bird in a gilded cage where loyalty, honor and family ties run deep. In her world drugs, guns, and watching your back are a way of life. She may have been born in to this life, but she longs for a quieter existance with her lifelong friend and love, Diego de la Rosa. The problem is, both Diego and is his brother Cristiano want to call this dark haired beauty their own. Violent Delight is the first book in the White Monarch trilogy. Jessica Hawkins does a superb job of developing a rich, lush, gritty, seedy world with well developed characters. Living in SoCal, so close to the Mexican border, really brought this story to life for me. I am looking forward to following the life, loves, pain, sacrifices, heartaches and heartbreaks of these characters. Already counting down he days until book 2.
