In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she … she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.
After giving himself wholly to the job for ten years, Crew Vega was done. He’d fulfilled his commitment, done his duty, gone above and beyond to settle the score. And the score was high. All he had to do was train his replacements and he’d be out for good.
He had a plan, one that didn’t include getting involved with his new neighbor, a woman who not only kept cows for pets, but treasured her employees as family, and understood him better than anyone ever had before. But when he learned a high level CIA target being investigated for treason was keeping tabs on her?
No, he never planned on that.
And like everything Crew Vega did in life, when he goes in, he’s all in.
Warning: I’m a devout member of the mama club and don’t want to get kicked out by angry mamas. If you aren’t eighteen, turn around, go drink your milk and eat your veggies, it’s good for your bones. And go to bed early, you’re still growing, your body needs sleep. And don’t text and drive. And be nice, sit with the kid who sits alone at lunch. And read a PG-13 book, it’s good for your brain. And go tell your mama you love her. Chop-chop, run along now. I’ll see you back when you’re eligible to vote.

A little unusual for a story, but still held my interest because of the character craft.
I loved thi book. I reread it several times and can’t wait to read the others in the s series
The characters were real, and I really enjoyed it
Romantic and mysterious! Addy and Crew sizzle! The settings and plots are well written! Why chose hamburger when you can have filet mignon? This is definitely a prime cut!
Hot, hot, hot
Read this and two others in the series. Looking for more. Lots of action in more ways than one.
I love stories that feature strong women who stand their own with the alpha hero, and yet still need him. Great chemistry, great dialogue, great everything. I’ll admit when I finished I bought the second book in the series so I could stay with these characters in this world a bit longer, and the second book is just as satisfying.
Like the natural setting even though action based.
Addie and Crew are neighboring property owners..She runs a vineyard with enough odd and lovable characters to populate a feel-good story. Crew and two others are training men for assignments the government will deny if they are caught.—a dark, dangerous, exciting element. But the country’s bad guys come after Addie…Things get wonderfully stirred up.
So, I had read the 2nd book first because I had won it…thankfully, because this series is like freaking book crack. Obviously I had to go back and read Crew and Addy’s book. Can I just say that I am now thinking about a Crew and Grady sandwich….just sayin. The men in this series are absolutely perfect…for me. All. For. Me….because I am totally selfish. Crew just bought the property next to Addy’s wine vineyard, they meet when she’s out walking her cows. Yeah, you read that right, her cows are her pets, even though she won’t admit it at first. In his line of work he’s a great ally to have when people come and start to bother Addy. When he finds out dangerous men are out for her, he pretty much moves himself in to protect her. Not gonna lie, a hot af badass that can protect you moving himself in…Sign. Me. Up.
This was a great, suspenseful and safe read. No ow, a little om drama, because he can’t take no for an answer. They spend a little time apart because Crew goes with Grady for a job to have his back. Great heat level too, these two were naughty af, and so in sync. A swoony, alpha badass and his sassy woman. Absolutely love the supporting/secondary characters in this book. Not gonna lie, Clara is my favorite, she is so damn honest and funny af. We get an epilogue and an hea. Flove, flove this book crack series, so damn good.
I first read this book when it was released and am enjoying a reread of both books in the series before I start book 3.
This book is the perfect blend of action, romance and enough heat to cause your kindle to combust. I absolutely loved the relationship between Addy & Crew and cast of supporting characters and interesting backstory kept me gripped from page one. I had forgotten how much I loved it and the ending…. perfect
I Love the Asher alpha males with the sweet headstrong girl. She writes them so well and you just want more.
This is a mystery suspense romance story, Addy and Crew are the lead characters. Both have secrets they need to keep from each.
Great story with two different people coming together. Love his bossiness
Love her sassiness.
The moment I discovered Brynne Asher, I was hooked. From the Carpino Series: Overflow, Beautiful Life, and Athica Lane to the debut of her newest series, The Killers . . . I have fallen in love with every single book, and am amazed how she’s grown stronger as an author with every world she creates. Ms. Asher’s ability to weave a story with the perfect mixture of wittiness, romance, action, suspense, and that-oh-so-sighing ending that leaves you with a smile and a wonderful feeling in your heart is enthralling. Throw in an alpha with a-not-so-everday-job, a heroine with a mysterious past, some cows that don’t understand the concept of staying on their own side of the fence, engaging secondary characters, and a past that won’t stay in the past, and you get a definite must-read Brynne Asher book.
