Viking Thunder
Viking Wolf
Viking Beast
Heat level : fiery
As you might expect from a dark romance set in this period of history, there are some scenes which readers may find ‘intense’ – including attempted rape, some violence, and other threatening situations. The story attempts to offer an authentic setting and experience but, be assured, a ‘happy’ ending prevails for Elswyth and the Viking who earns her love.

This boxset includes:
1. VIKING THUNDER
When the Northman came, almost everyone was sleeping. There was no one to protect them. They pulled the great chieftain out from under the bed where he was trying to hide. In his wailing for his life, he offered them Elswyth stating she was young and strong. They could have anything they wanted. He was not spared.
This is the prequel to the “Viking Warriors” series. Emmanuelle de Maupassant has given a brief description and explanation of the Gods these Northman believed in and what it was like when a village was invaded. The characters are multi-dimensional, the description in the storyline is so visual you can picture it. There are many side stories going in this prequel to keep you interested in the story and want to know more. A great read for sure.
2. VIKING WOLF
This book picks up exactly where “Viking Thunder” left off. The battle over, many on both sides have died. Sails are repaired and wounds tended. Only those leaving Northumbria did so voluntarily, no one made a slave.
Since Elswyth was the product of a previous invasion from the Norseman and the cruel chieftain she was married to killed, had much to decide. Her decision had been selfish, borne from her want of adventure and to start something new, her knowledge of kinship with these warriors, and her desire for Eirik, brother of the Svolvaen chief.
Faline, the Northumbria chief’s daughter and Elswithy’s step daughter, had also shared Eirik’s bed and so, she too, had left with these warriors. Although Eirik had possession of both women, Faline appeared to have a deep jealousy and resentment towards Elswyth.
As life dictated a harsh and brutal life in reality for Vikings, so does Emmanuelle de Maupassant give us a tale of this life tinged with a love so true it can grow and prosper within this story. There’s a beautiful savagery to this story that will give you an emotional response to the characters and a HEA at the end to fill your heart. Absolutely a wonderful story with promises from the author for more to come.
3. VIKING BEAST
Have you been following “The Viking Series”? If not, you need to jump on it as quickly as possible. You don’t want to miss one of the greatest experiences a book can give you, and this one will take you on that journey. Emmanuelle de Maupassant gives us the third part with this book and OMG!! The world-building is so realistic, with everything we’ve been taught and learned about Vikings. Her characters, both main and side, are so filled with personality they are relatable, even in their tempers. As I read I felt like I was there participating on the inside of the story rather than just reading on the outside. Elwyth is our heroine and what a heroine she is! She’s determined, strong, loving, forgiving, and a role model both inside the story and out.
I REALLY want to share this with you but I don’t want to give anything away. You’re going to want to read every delicious word for yourself. Congratulations Emmanuelle on another five-star review although in my opinion, you deserve so much more.
Craved. Captured. Claimed. Viking Warriors Dark Romance Trilogy three great stories that kept me turning pages. The set was well worth reading they are well written with very good storylines. I would recommend. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Richly backdropped with much cultural detail, this was a wholly beautifully told story
—>>> Review Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars – “A-viking” we will go… Falling from Chieftan’s wife to life as a thrall in a different land to the fierce North man Eirik, Elswyth’s journey unfolds in this trilogy as she pragmatically seeks to take all the new experiences in stride.
Richly backdropped with much cultural detail, this was a wholly beautifully told story of a woman whose passion and heart begets a deep and fierce longing to be loved and to belong, matched only by her will to survive the challenges she experienced with dignity and honour intact.
Viking Warriors Trilogy . . .
This is a very strong, telling trilogy that will bring out deep feelings and emotions as you read. (Vikings tend to do that, I believe.) The author also gives us a vivid mental picture of the surroundings and brings the story to life. Combined with the larger than life characters, the experience of reading and living this story line becomes very realistic and takes you there to feel what it was like going through these experiences (not all of which I really wanted to feel that vividly!). But what I’m saying is that this is a vivid expression that will stick with the reader and gives you something you won’t forget. Grab your copy and hang on for the ride! This is not for the weak.
Wow! I’m glad this trilogy is all together in one book, as I can’t imagine reading this story as anything other than one continuous saga. This is a story full of action, sex and power. There is danger, deceit and death. The Vikings live by the sword and die by the sword….and many times it is a near thing for our hero and heroine. Elswyth was ‘captured’ first by Eirik and then later by Sweyn and Eldberg. She did what she needed to do to survive, and in the process brought healing to many. I cannot even begin to address all that happened to her, but will tell you that this author had the ability to pull the rug out from under the reader quickly and often. Your heart will be racing much of the time you are reading. If things of a sexual nature bother you, this is not for you. However, it is pretty clear that the Vikings used sex for punishment and control as much as for release, and to them their actions were justified. This is a wild ride and not a lovey-dovey romance, but it is well told and exciting.

STORY:
This is a Viking romance, and I am a sucker for Viking romances. I wouldn’t say the story is bad, I just could not connect as the story progresses. I got to the mid way point and didn’t want to read more. Now I hope I don’t sound contracting to say the story isn’t bad but couldn’t finish it, but I felt it was more the character that I was not connecting with. I also am not sure if the audio version had anything to do with this because I really didn’t fancy the female in the audio, so that could have hindered me as well.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
What I read about the sex scenes were good, I really didn’t have any issues.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
OVERALL:
I really wanted to love this, but something was hindering my enjoyment. I love reading about Vikings and enjoyed them growing up by some of my favorite romance authors.
TRIGGERS:
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
This was an enjoyable series following the stories of Elswyth, Eirik and Eldberg. I really loved the rich descriptions of this time period – the landscape, longhouses and people carrying on everyday life. I felt sorry for Elswyth as she really had a difficult path to follow. Both Eirik and Eldberg were likeable as alpha guys leading and protecting their respective communities interests. I always find it swoon worthy to see the softer side of such tough guys as the world is set right eventually. A great historical read leaving me hoping there is another novel in the series to follow!

This is a set of connected books all involving Elswyth.
She is one tough woman and I’m grateful that I live in this time period.
#1 Viking Thunder, this one is short and hard to handle, I’m a suckered for true love and Elswyth didn’t have it with Eirik. I hated that he slept with other women.
#2 Viking Wolf has Eirik redeeming himself.
#3 Viking Beast is both heart breaking and amazing all at the same time.
Great boxset, you will not regret reading this.
I also own this boxset in Audible and loved it there too.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this entertaining dark Viking trilogy which is set in the brutal Viking era. The plots of all three books are well-paced & are full of unexpected incidents/situations that certainly kept my attention. The scenes are well-described and the world building is excellent & covers the cultures & traditions of that time period. The characters are well-developed & some of them are realistically flawed to a certain extent while some of the other characters are just trying to survive to the best of their abilities. In particular, I was impressed by the redeeming qualities shown by the “villain” in each of the stories.
There is: hot Viking warriors/raiders, defenseless women, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, drama, adventure, action, threats, danger, enemies, violence, brutality, deceit, betrayal, vengeful feelings, manipulations, resentment, defiance, domination/submission, reluctance, escape attempts, choices, decisions, compromises, steamy scenes, contentment & well-deserved, satisfying conclusions.
I look forward to future books from this talented author & would recommend this Viking Warrior Dark Romance Trilogy to people who enjoy reading this genre.
Emmanuelle de Maupassant is high on my list of favorite authors and this 3-book set is just another example of her excellent writing. She gives her readers complex characters, lies, spies, and betrayals as well as all the brutality and violence Vikings are known for. But that’s not all. Readers also get an intense attraction and heat that evolves into love and at the center of it is a strong, vital young woman who will do anything to survive. I absolutely loved this series and HIGHLY recommend.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Emmanuelle brings us three books of Elswyth and Erik’s journey. It’s a true Viking story full of the brutality of the times in every form. The journey of Elswyth and Erik leads to a very hot, passionate and steamy love. There are many twists and turns that will engage you. I love this author’s writing. She draws you into another world and doesn’t let go till the last word. I can’t recommend this book set enough but I do forewarn there are triggers. There is violence but it felt authentic to what Viking life would be.

I read these books long ago, but the author has now written a prequel that really brings to light how it all began. It was refreshing to reread these stories. Well written, these stories show how lies and deceit can bring down those who believe themselves untouchable. This story is about true love that begins with death and destruction, and a strong woman’s will to survive the fates that the gods have thrown her way.
Each main character in this collection has their own backstory; stories of heartbreak and fear, of love and devotion, of strong men and even stronger women, of the will to survive in a very cruel world led by warrior men whose very existence can bring about life or death in a heartbeat. It is a story in which one particular woman has to choose between love and survival, and how she must show obedience when her heart and mind rebels against tragic circumstances.

This was a really interesting trilogy. It drew me in from the start and would not let me go until the last page. I can’t wait to read more stories by this author!

Emmanuelle de Maupassant is my favorite author, and her Viking stories are amazing. I love the era of the Vikings and she tells the story with depth and amazing characters.
These books start with a Viking raid and tells the tale of what happens afterwards to the late Chieftan’s wife.

Viking Thunder: Short intro to Eirik and Elswyth. She is widowed and ends up doing thing she never expected after the village is invaded. I love how he words his request to her.
Viking Wolf: This story took a big turn that I didn’t really expect, but I liked the resolution. Eirik’s duty and brother interfere with his relationship with Elswyth and her insecurities lead her to a bad place. She betrays a friendship and doesn’t place enough consideration where she should and that ends badly for many. Add in plague and it is a rough time.
Viking Beast: Elswyth has more trials to overcome after being kidnapped, including caring for her captor after watching Eirik fall. There is a great betrayer among her captors, but she also makes some friends along the way. I would really like to get the story promised at the end!
I received a free copy of this book.
This story had me captivated from the very first intense moments!
When the raiders came, there was not much to do than submit. Elswyth finds she wants to submit to Eirik. Heck, I do too! LOL!
Ms. de Maupassant writes in techni-color! You feel you are there seeing what her characters see, hearing what they hear, feeling what they feel. Just amazing!
If you like Viking romance with amazing scenery surrounding you, this is a must read!
I LOVED IT!
This has three tales in it and be prepared for a wonderful read which you will be unable to put down until you have read the final page of the last book

I love the writings of this author. This series is an attention getter and keeper. I can see some of the more realistic details which come out in this series for the time period. You will feel the brutality of the raids, betrayal, revenge, desire, love and a few surprises. The characters are brought to life and the storyline is strong and within your minds eye you will be able to envision the surroundings and the storyline as it unfolds. I went from one to another immediately wanting to see what happens next. I do recommend this series.
I was gifted an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntarily and honest review.

Captivating, fascinating trilogy – the odyssey of an unbelievably strong woman in her search for love, acceptance, family. This indomitable woman, who does everything to survive incredible odds, to survive everything that life throws at her.
I can’t help being reminded of the Earth’s Children by Jean M. Auel.
I see the same gripping talent, descriptive as well as full of passion, full of action.
