Special Forces soldier and medic Walter River would give anything to snatch more than a few seconds of down time to see if he can rattle the no-nonsense and incredibly hot Dr. Lloyd he’s protecting, but dodging explosions, snipers, and student radicals who’ve unleashed a lethal bio-engineered microorganism have made that almost impossible. Maybe he’ll get a chance—if he can figure out how to keep … keep them both alive.
CDC microbiologist Ava Lloyd races to find a cure for a bio-terrorism organism sweeping El Paso. The few stolen moments with her very hunky bodyguard River have been explosive, but no matter how alluring he is, she can’t afford to get distracted. The clock is ticking, people are dying by the hundreds, and once this crisis is solved, they’ll both be off on their next assignment, thousands of miles apart.

almost put this back into my TBR pile after i got a couple of pages in as i am reading this Aug 2021 and this story hit a little to close to home. that being said. its a fast past, sometimes laugh out loud with DS, taking turns you have to hold on tight to stay on the ride. looking forward to the next story
Good
Very interesting story and a little scary. You could almost apply this to today’s world. What would happen if this was applied that way. It really makes you think.
A little scary, felt vulnerable. Lots of action. Very good read.
Great book. Suspense packed. Couldn’t put it down.
Exciting read. Subject matter was scary at any time but given the situation the world is going through over the last 9 months it was even more powerful. Characters were relatable and fun.
Great read.
I liked the two main characters and those around them, who also brought their own strengths to achieving their goal. Lots of action throughout and it kept me thinking about solving the crisis.
Great series. So terrifyingly NOW! So very relevant to what’s going on today.
A really good book
Loved this book. Couldn’t wait to see how it was going to end, but didn’t want to finish it.
I enjoyed the plot and action of this book so much that I bought the entire series by the author. Great writing and had me reading late into the night to finish.
Good action story.
This story pulled me in right from the beginning. It was intense and realistically scary. I never figured out the ending ahead of time even though I thought I had. Lol. This was not your typical love story which was good
This goes at a face pace, with the characters multi-faceted, and an interesting plot. I liked the complexity, and would read more from this series and from this author.
I enjoyed this book.
wow this story keeps you from putting the book down. my favorite book to read. you get hooked in the beginning and just can’t put it down until the end!
I liked the format of this book. As I was reading I knew every minute could bring about a big change. It had enough tongue in check humor to not take the story to seriously.
I found the plot believable and the characters were easy to relate to. I enjoy books with great storylines and real dialog, this book has both. I found it hard to put down and as with any great book, I was sorry that it ended. This was well worth your time to read.
Julie Rowe wrote this book in 2017, but it reads like it was written in 2020! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! It was like a slice out of this year’s news.
While it felt a bit freaky to read a story so close to what we’ve all went through, I always wanted to see if good could triumph over evil. At least in the book it did.
If you’re squeamish, you may want to give this a pass, because Ms. Rowe writes using all the vivid colors in her writer’s toolbox.
If you like your romantic suspense both smart and dangerous, this is the book for you.
