If there is one truth that I hold to in my life, it is that when it rains, it pours.Perhaps that is why I built myself not for the everyday storms most experience. But for the hurricanes I have had to learn to withstand.I know what it is like to feel your heart crack in half like a tree that snaps under too much pressure.I know the bone-deep, all-consuming, numbness that sets in when the wind and … that sets in when the wind and the cold and the water become too much.
I know the desperation that claws under the surface as you try to wait through the night, and hope that come the dawn, the storm has passed.
But perhaps, most importantly, I know how to survive.
Or really, I am too spiteful to die.
Either way, my world is falling apart around me. Death and destruction are knocking on my door. And a storm is coming. One unlike anything we have ever encountered before.
This time it is not Anastasia I will face on the battlefield, but the one who calls to me. The one I cannot face.
This is one storm I don’t know if I will survive . . . or if the price of living is too high.
This is the final book in Selena’s journey. Daizlei Academy is a completed series intended for older teens and adults.

I can’t believe this is finally over, I really enjoyed the series. I love the characters, the world-building was quite refreshing and Stacey the narrator was simply brilliant. Selena and Ash had a great story but I hope the author continues with a spin-off for other amazing characters and to get some answers that felt a bit unresolved. Overall if you love magic, great characters, romance, and a good plotline get these audiobooks.
So I hadn’t read this series beforehand and I am kinda glad I didnt because the audiobook was a pleasant surprise and I loved it and didnt want it to end. I wont give away too much since its the big climax of the story and no one likes having the story ruined with spoilers. I think my favorite was at the end when Selena got to meet some awesome characters that had been talked about but never seen/spoken to. I thought that was done so well, I would love to see more of them/more spinoffs from this series that has them as special cameos. I thought Lily was a fabulous baddie in this one, she exuded darkness after what she had to endure and had to adapt to keep from losing it completely. I was sad how things ended for her, but I understand what Kel was doing and I can see her popping up in future stories (maaaaybe Blair’s!?!). I wish Selena and Ash had more time alone together, if you know what I mean. I loved how the story was the #1 priority but I did miss some steam. I also have so many questions regarding Alexandria, Blair, Kara, etc. I hope Kel visits this world again. Now I am a huge RH but this M/F story was amazing and a good break from all the RH I have been reading/listening to haha. I want to see how Blair and Alec handle their new lives, what happens with Alexandria (does she get a signasti?) How does Kara handle her new powers and bring a teenager? Does Lucas fall for Lily or handle his new responsibility in life? So many things that can be for future stories, I would be up for any of them honestly!! Oooh and I loved the attitude with the council at the end and how Selena’s role changed (with the vessel role that was given to her).
One last thing to talk about this story. I loved seeing all the powers and supernatural aspect in book 4. We got to see more from some characters, see some being refined, some we didnt even know had some! I kinda wish the battles could have been a little longer, but when one character has an immense, deadly power, its hard to have that longer drawn out battle/war.
For the narration, I thought this was probably Stacey’s strongest performance. Some things sounded a little off for me (some accents were consistent between some of the side characters) but it wasnt enough for me to bring it down from a 5 to a 4 star rating. I felt all the emotions when it came to the sisters, to the outcome that had to happen, to Selena and a character that had to say goodbye. I thought the love between Ash and Selena was palpable, along with Selena’s love for her family and Ash’s family. I thought the scenes with the Alpha was done really well too and the deadly showdown with Lily with the group not there was gut wrenching and made me really believe the story/these characters came to life. Great job, will be checking out more by Kel and narrations of Stacey’s, that’s for sure
Kel Carpenter is back with a new addiction to her addictively wonderful Daizlei Academy series, and Vessel of Destruction (Book 4) is truly superb. A storm is coming in this, the final book in Selena’s adventure. Things are looking pretty scary but it would be awfully stupid to count her out. Instead count on getting a totally fun book that is perfectly written, with a great plot, a perfect cast and perfect world-building. Definitely recommended.
I hate to see things end and will normally put off reading the last chapter until I absolutely have to. That being said, I am so sorry to see this story end. But all good things must end and this is no exception. Kel knows how to send off her characters with a bang. She doesn’t let the story drop for a second and never ceases to draw me into her world.
I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
This book allowed me to be dragged willingly back into Selena’s world once more. As with all of Kel’s books, this one did not disappoint. I love Selena, her sisters, and especially her and Ash together. There was so much passion, love, compassion, and courage shown in this final book. It allowed me to feel what the characters must have felt and visualize what was being done.
I became hooked on Kel years ago with the first Daizlei book and I continue to love her creativity and penmanship.
I loved this book so much I could not put it down until the last words were read. The ending was perfect, though it did leave a little mystery just in case there is ever a desire to write a spin off. I loved loved loved this amazing series
