Hot bachelor Max Carlisle is heir to a media empire, tabloid catnip, and… wants to hire me to be his fake fiancee. I know what it takes to keep a billionaire in line, but signing up for seven days in close quarters with this Very … days in close quarters with this Very Irresistible Playboy? It’s just asking for trouble. The kind of thrilling, reckless trouble I could use a little more of since my career is currently ass-backwards in a mud bath with six shih-tzus (don’t ask).
So do I:
a) Take the job, and bicker wildly every step of the way?
b) Embark on a mad-cap treasure hunt to claim his billion-dollar inheritance?
c) Try my hardest not to fall head-over-heels in love with him and wind up having the best sex of my life?
d) All of the above?
Something tells me I’m about to be way out of my league… and under the most handsome, infuriating man I’ve ever met. But with a fortune on the line, can we beat out his crazy relatives to win the prize? And will our fake relationship be game over at the finish line?
BILLIONAIRE BACHELORS SERIES:
1 Very Irresistible Playboy
2 Hot Daddy
3 Wild Card
4 Man Candy (Aug)
Hallie Gage meets Maximilian Carlisle when she was working as a photographers assistant. They share a hot kiss at the wedding. They go to their separate ways. Hallie desperately needs a job and meets Olivia, who offers her a job pretending to be a rich mans pretend girlfriend (no sex). Of course, the hot guy is the man she kissed at the wedding. This is a fun take on the fake girlfriend/fiancé trope. This is a light fun read.
Out of work wanna be professional photographer
Drop dead gorgeous international playboy
Business arrangement fake girlfriend turned fiance
Madcap treasure hunt for control of a billion dollar publishing empire
Manipulative, no scruples family members circling like sharks in chummed water
Lila Monroe has written a purely entertaining romantic comedy that will have you chuckling if not laughing out loud at times. Max and Hallie are perfectly suited and you root for them throughout.
5 Star Review of VIP (Billionaire Bachelors Book 1) by Lila Monroe
This is book one in Lila Monroe’s new series Billionaire Bachelors and if this book is any indication I think she has another winning series on her hands.
This is the story of smoking hot Max Carlisle who is the heir to a media empire and Hallie Gage who is an up and coming photographer who through no fault of her own has landed in some troubled waters.
When an intriguing offer is put to Hallie, to act as his fake girlfriend for 7 days will she take a risk and accept? After all what trouble could she get into?
VIP (Very Irresistible Playboy) is full of laugh out loud moments which had me almost in tears not to mention is as hot as hades. I thoroughly enjoy the romantic comedy genre and Lila Monroe is an excellent example of an author who knows what she is doing. I adore her style of writing and found her characters to be captivating.
I love Hallie her confidence and sass was easily a match for the self confident and highly appealing Max.Their chemistry was electrifying.and the secondary characters were almost as entertaining.
This was a rollicking read full of great moments that really brought a smile to my face and one that I really didn’t want to put down.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series. One click now you will not be disappointed.
I’ve been looking forward to Very Irresistible Playboy since getting a sneak peek of it at the end of Christmas with the Billionaire (where we meet Hallie’s big brother) and I was far from disappointed now that it’s finally here! Max and Hallie story has the humor, tension, and sexiness that I’ve come to expect from Lila Monroe in spades. It was more of a slow burn than some of the other books I’ve read by her, but that makes sense considering that Max and Hallie’s relationship starts out as more of a business relationship as opposed to something more common. Between the shenanigans inherent with fake relationship tropes (one of my faves), the extravagant scavenger hunt, and Max’s insufferable family – Very Irresistible Player was a total win in my book. I’m looking forward to Hot Daddy and seeing how Max’s friend Cal fairs with The Agency! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.
*3.5 Stars*
I liked the ideas and the storyline of this one, particularly the antics that amounted because of Franklin.
I didn’t connect with characters personally, but I liked the plot and liked the characters. It was interesting how things played out, not everything surprised me, but some parts of the story definitely did.
Max and Hallie worked well together in more ways when than one and the story flowed nicely as well. There was only a little angst in this one and things concluded really well. There’s also a nice opening for the next book in the series, which I will be curious to read.
Overall a fast and easy read. Would recommend.
