Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3)
By: L.D. Rose
5 out of 5 stars
The story Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by L.D. Rose is an amazing book to read. It hooked me in from the very beginning and I got lost in the story. I loved reading about the characters of Dax Knight and Cindel Konstantinov. These two have an intense attraction to each other. There is both passion and desire between them. She has a past that has come back. Now they must face the consequences of their actions as well as deal with the chaos that surrounds them. What does the future hold for Dax and Cindel? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has action, danger, and romance. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There are also steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I had empathy for Cindel. She is a character that I grew to care about and wanted her to feel free and also happiness. I loved that Dax is very protective of Cindel and that he would do anything to keep her safe. I also enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters that interacted with Dax and Cindel. While there are those who are helpful to them there are also others who have their own agenda and are determined that their plans succeed. Will they be stopped? I loved that the author has written the book in such a way that I felt like I was right there with the characters. I would highly recommend reading this story and series.
Releasing the Demons –
Black Bullet –
Holey Guacamole! This book started off with one heck of a bang. Non-stop action right from the start had my adrenaline pumping and I loved the thrills this story provided. The Knights are still battling against the leeches and the war doesn’t seem close to ending and so many lives are being lost. The streets are running red and the humans are dying out. Protecting them is a full time job for the Knights and eradicating the dens and the sires seems an almost unattainable goal. But they will never give up. All is not lost although hope is a fickle witch.
Dax isn’t in New York. He’s in New England helping out his bros in the Trinity clean up a bit. He takes down an entire yacht full of vamps singlehandedly (so hot) and leaves with a hostage. She’s everything he’s learned to despise – a leech, a monster, the vilest of all creatures. And yet, she’s nothing at all like he expected. She’s not ferocious or lethal and she has compassion. That shouldn’t be there! She has a soul and it draws him ever nearer.
Cindy is on the run. She was once a slave/wife of a powerful Sire and for years she accepted her lot in life. When she finally opened her eyes to her situation, she escaped and as luck would have it, she had some unexpected assistance along the way. But she is far from safe. As long as her sire lives, she will be hunted. However, with Dax, she has never been happier or felt safer in her life and she’s not giving him up without a fight.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… The Order of the Senary books are some of the best things I have ever read. Who knew that accepting a review request a few years ago would lead to my discovery of books I’ll love forever? I adore the hybrids that L.D. Rose has created and I look forward to every book of this series. Learning more about these amazing people, reading about their adventures and the chaos that seems to follow them everywhere, the action scenes and the brotherhood among them, and the love… These books have everything I could ask for.
***5 Stars***
I’ve been waiting for a minute for the next book in the series, especially with how Black Bullet ended, and Vermilion Lies did not disappoint! With a few pages things were off and running and I was all in to see what would happen between Dax and Cindel as what would happen to those they hunted, and who hunted them. It was dark, gritty, sweet and smexy and filled with character ~ the good, the bad and the ugly ~ that kept me turning the pages until the very end and has me wanting more.
I didn’t know what to make of Cindel in the beginning, she kind of had this dead woman/vamp walking thing going on, but her strong need to survive ~ no matter what that survival entailed ~ sparked my curiosity and I loved watching her become stronger as the story progressed and finding a sort of peace that broke through the darkness that had settled over her soul. Dax is all kinds of honorable, lethal alpha AF male and that isn’t afraid to put himself in situations that have a high chance of killing him, even with his special abilities. But his loyalty, not only to the cause, but his brothers makes it hard to not love him.
Dax and Cindel’s journey is definitely rocky, especially considering they are technically supposed to be enemies of the highest order, but the protector in Dax ~ along with that inexplicable pull between them ~ keeps them from going for each other’s throats…at least in violence. I liked how they got to know each other and saw exactly who the was (or could be) and found that inexplicable connection that neither could deny. With both of them fighting for their lives, they have quite a few obstacles to overcome, but I loved how they got their HEA in the end.
This was a great addition to the series and I loved how it gave closure to some issues even as it pushed the series forward with all the twists and turns that were dropped throughout the book. I loved catching up with the Knights and seeing where they are all at ~ whether they are coupled up or not ~ but Kayne kinda did it for me and I’m crossing my toes that we’ll see more of him as the series progresses. And as for that ending and tease of what to expect in the next book? Well…I cannot wait to get my hands in it to see just how it will all play out!

It’s been awhile since I left the Order of the Senary series, and I quickly found out how much I missed the brothers. These books can be read as standalones, but I recommend you start from the beginning with Releasing the Demons and then Black Bullet. You will understand the relationships better with the brothers, as they are all back in the books even though this book centers on Dax and Cindel, a forbidden love that won’t be denied.
These books hit as hard as the Black Dagger Brotherhood – and may leave you with a book hangover so you can process everything you read or catch up on the sleep you will inevitably lose because you can’t put the book down, especially after the 60% mark. This book doesn’t slow much, and it burns down the track like a freight train, and the author holds nothing back – this will leave you wanting more. I had to sit and process this book before I wrote this review, as it batters its reader as much as the characters. And I loved every second of it.
Dark, gritty, fast-paced PNR!
Vermilion Lies is set in a dark and gritty world of vampires and the hybrids who are humanity’s last hope. The world-building is detailed and the writing is stellar–I felt like I was in the book, living the story along with Cindel & Dax.
Cindel will melt your heart as she slowly comes into her own power after escaping her abusive sire and finds love with Dax.
If you like your paranormal romance dark and edgy, this book is a must-read.
I give Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by L.D. Rose, 4 stars.
Dax lives to hunt and kills vampires. They prey on victims and have no feelings whatsoever. He is ruthless and efficient. Until he comes across Cindy. She is not ruthless at all, in fact she seems to be a victim. He didn’t think vampires could be like this. Now he seems to feel for her in ways he never should.
Vampire Cindel (Cindy) has been on the run for so long now. She thought her maker was the worst, but she has found out nothing is free. In the world of users of all kind, she gives what she has to to survive. When a ruthless killer shows up, she knows her life is over. But for some reason, he lets her live. As ruthless as he is, she is strangely highly attracted to him. Is a relationship even possible? When her past comes back to haunt her, she knows she has to make this work, but is it too late?
This is an enjoyable book and a great addition to the series. I really like both main characters and enjoyed learning more about them. The secondary characters also help to make this book so good. Some of your favorites are back, along with new ones you love to hate. But this isn’t just a story about the main couple. There is action in this book also, making it a well-rounded story and that much more enjoyable.
If you like paranormal romance with great characters and suspense thrown in, this book and series is for you. Oh and it can be read as a standalone but I recommend the whole series.
I loved this book. It is full of action and adventure with an amazing love story included.
Dax is a hybrid vampire who’s mission is to rid the world of vampires who are taking over.
Dax is trained to overcome any challenge or obstacle to destroy them. Until he meets Cindy.
Cindy is an escaped wife of one of the sires. She is trying to make her way in the world without the abuse she suffered at the hands of her sire.
So starts a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, love and hate, danger and chaos as they try to save each other.,
“When the world is going to hell in a hand basket, you might as well make it a party on the way down.”
This series gets better with each new installment.
The writing is visual and detailed. It is a well plotted story with great character development. The story moves at a really good pace and kept me invested from beginning to end.
Things are not always as they appear in this series and it is interesting to see how things are being worked out. VERMILION LIES has sexy times, drama, action and adventure.
I totally recommend this series and this book.
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by LD Rose
4 out of 5 Stars
Dax Knight, what a cool name! Vermilion Lies is the 3rd book in the Senary series that takes us through the story of Dax and Cindel. This story is dark, passionate and in some cases brutal. This dystopian, fantasy world draws you in and you are reluctant to let go.
Dax is a Senary who vampire hunting takes him to Cindel, the mate of his mortal enemy. The problem is, she is a vampire. The very thing Dax is designed to destroy.
The chemistry between Dax and Cindel is so intense you can feel it from the pages of the book. It is raw, hot and emotional.
Ms Rose is a masterful story teller. She never ceases to amaze me with each new book that she releases. Highly recommended for lovers of romance and fantasy.
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Series Book 3) by L.D. Rose was an engaging, exciting read, that had me hooked!
The latest book in this amazing series, I have to start with, I love the new covers. Wow, this cover was such a draw, that if I didn’t read the first two books, it would have been like a fly to honey. That a side, this book was fast pace, action packed and it hit the ground running. Like the other book, this one was full of solid characters, compelling plots lines, that were both complex and multi layered. I love Dax, he’s hot, strong, badass and just wow, I want a Dax, like I would fight Cindel for him. Mind you I’d probably lose, but hell, I would have given it my dirtiest try.
In all seriousness, I love them as the MC’s, and as love interests. They fit well, it felt natural, and I love the progression. It didn’t felt force, nor did it over-power the story line. It has a natural feel, and it added to this already pulling story.
Man, I can go one about this book, this series, but I don’t want to ruin anything, so I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval, that you need this book/series in your life.
Happy Reading

Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Series Book 3) by L.D. Rose is paranormal/fantasy romance. Vermillion Lies continues the epic story set in this extraordinary series – The Order of the Senary. From the first book, L.D. Rose has had me hooked into the story lines that are interlinked in their individual ways. In this particular novel, the author focuses on Dax who is amazing! He is the epitome of a man who takes no prisoners and gives it his all and then some! Add into this dynamic Cindel, who is fractured, yet not completely broken. The culmination of these characters into the story was beyond incredible while the author kept an energetic pace with unbelievable characters. Truly this is the best story yet and I can’t wait for the others to come! L.D. Rose is brilliant!!
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by L.D. Rose
5 Stars!!!!!
I just love this series. This book really had me hooked. The author has a refreshing writing style and I totally fell in love with the whole world that the author created. I really felt drawn into the world.
I really felt my emotions going through the motions as Cindy’s character is making her get away in the beginning. I really like the chemistry between Cindy and Dax. The way that all the drama unfolds around them and builds really kept me glued to the pages. I felt as though I as right in the midst of the action. I will definitely will be reading more from this author and I hope that this series.
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3)
by L.D. Rose
This book is incredible!!! So far this series has been awesome and this book is no different. There is action, twists and turns, and danger. There is off the charts chemistry between Dax and Cindel. I could not get enough of this story, I had to keep reading until I got to the end!! I was pulled in to this dark and mysterious world that the author built so exceptionally well. This book can be read as a standalone but it is my advice to read the other books in this series to better your experience and get a better backstory with some of the other characters. This is a must read!! I highly recommend this book.
5 Star
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Series Book 3) by L.D. Rose
Vermilion Lies is the third Book in The Order of the Senary series. I found myself lost in the pages and I couldn’t put it down till the last page. I had to know what happens next. This is about Dax and Cindel. Holy Cow these two have a pretty intense attraction to each other. But what happens when her past comes back? Can they deal/ handle the consequences of their actions? Will they be able to handle the chaos that will surround them? What does their future look like? Get ready for this action packed, have you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. At times there are some pretty steamy scenes that will definitely have the temperature rising. This is a must read and I suggest reading the first two books in this series as well if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to see what this Author brings us next.
A great read about trust. Cindel has run from one bad situation into another since she fled from her sire several years ago. Whilst on a yacht serving another master, the vampires around her are destroyed and she is taken hostage by a vampire hybrid. Distrusting her, he imprisons her for a while. She slowly earns his trust but events unfold and tensions rise. Can you ever escape your past?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns Well developed characters like Dax trying to do the right thing despite his feelings or Cindy standing up for herself but still vulnerable underneath. Great cats of supporting characters like the fun and lovable Kayne or the caring brother Blaze. The only issue I would raise is that it felt as if there were too many bad sire characters to keep track of which could have been reduced.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel with the and the sense of devastation with its broken buildings and seas of dust emotive for what had been lost. Or the nature in the cold air and the trees and the ocean with its beach wild and untamed and for a sense of freedom for Cindel
for a sense of freedom Or with the battle scenes on the yacht with the sights and sounds so vivd it was as if you’re actually there. .
A great example of world building with the fantasy creatures of vampires that coexist in our world and have their own rules and laws and societies. I also liked the use of vampires having emotions in Cindy which added something new to the figure of the vampire, something not usually done in fantasy novels. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.
L.D. Rose has done it again, Vermilion Lies has been another excellent addition to the Order of the Senary series. It was a fast paced read, that left me on the edge of my seat, wondering what could happen next. With each book in this series, L.D. Rose creates more characters that really stand out and tell their story and keep it flowing. I was totally hooked with this book, i didn’t want to put this read down. Dax and Cindel have an intense and undeniable connection that i found real. This book had romance, danger, action and suspense, and was written in a way that made it mentally visual and as though you was there living out the story with the characters. I highly recommend this book, but this is also a series that shouldn’t be missed!
Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose is the third book in The Order of the Senary series. This is a great series and I was glad to read this book as well. Dax is traveling in order to help his friends battle the incoming vampire forces. Little does he expect to meet Cindel, a vampiress who has fled her sire’s possession. The attraction between them is undeniable but will that work into each of their goals.
I really enjoyed this book and it is filled with so much. There is something for everyone: romance, paranormal, action, and suspense. This kept me reading all night and I look forward to reading more in this series soon.
Vermilion Lies (The Order of the Senary Book 3) by L.D. Rose
Stars: 4
This is Dax’s and Cindel’s story. I thought that this story was wonderfully done, and worked well with the series by giving us insight into past featured couples as well as a bit of foreshadowing. The thing I loved most about this story is the character, Cindel. I think that I love her most, because she had the most character growth. At the beginning, Cindel was lost, running, and tired. However, she found her inner strength and really complemented Dax. I love that L.D Rose doesn’t write about perfect characters. Each character has flaws, but each find the inner strength needed to hold their own. This has been pretty consistent in this series. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
Vermilion Lies (TheOrder Of The Senary Book 3) by L. D. Rose
5-Stars
Vermilion Lies is book three in this action packed series. I have to say that this one is my favorite. I love both Dax and Cindy’s characters. I hated that Cindy experienced so many difficult and terrible things. It broke my heart when she was able to feel gratitude or even snow for the first time. I loved how caring and gentle Dax became with her after their unlikely meeting.
This novel was excellently written and easy to follow. There was never a dull moment. I loved the different settings and the witty banter between the brothers. This novel may be book 3 in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I do recommend the other books in the series though. The author has done a magnificent job with these books and I look forward to reading more.
Vermilion Lies by L.D. Rose a four-star read that will rock you. This is the third novel in the Order of the Senary but each one can be read as stand-alone, but in my opinion I would advise reading them in order as I have and I feel I have gotten the most of them this way. This is fast paced and brutal at times the pace is so quick, it will leave you breathless. This one will have you wanting to be violent to a certain character as well as imagining the brutal violence that this story is full of, but its also got heart that will surprise you. This has been a great series, and this is a great story.
