And she risks a fate worse than death if her existence is ever discovered by Prime Councilor Aav, … Councilor Aav, the most powerful Matriarch in the Ring.
When a tall, arrogant, sapphire blue alien comes to Aveyn, it’s not long before headstrong Ava gets in trouble with him – the new Eok warrior in charge.
Arlen wants nothing to do with his new assignment on Aveyn. All he wants is to return to the violence at the Frontier and drown his broken heart in bloodshed. But he made a deal with his brother, the Commander-in-Chief of the Eok armies: a year of peace for a year of combat. So, Arlen comes to Aveyn fully intent on ruling all those who live there with an iron fist…
… all except a troublesome, gorgeous female whose purple eyes haunt his dreams. When the Mating Venom pushes him to the edge of madness, can Arlen learn to trust in his heart again, or is his soul lost to the bloodlust?
Publisher’s Note: While this is the third book in the bestselling Eok Warriors series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.
more
This story is so heart touching. I really enjoyed Ava and Uril. I liked that they were unique and yet Arlen still loved them. At times this is a tough story to read because of the racism and discrimination but the ending is great.
This was my second book by Mary and the third book in this series, but I was very intrigued by the blurb and was just hoping this read ok as a standalone, which it did – I do like a good Sci Fi with a dose of Alpha male to go with it!
Ava is a half breed, which is illegal, her creator a rich and powerful nasty man who mader her for his play thing. He has been run off the planet but is still thought to be alive. Ava works as a doctor looking after the few thousand humans who live there, but despise her for what she is. She also has a 12 yr old boy half breed who she considers her brother and her only family to look after, who has a bad heart defect due to his genetic engineering. Their creator had a artificial heart made for him and its her goal to get this for him before its too late.
Arlen is an Eok warrior, big blue and renowned for his coldness but ability to get things done. He spent a year on the front line of a war in a bid to escape his hurtful past and throw himself into unleashing his inner beast, having been ‘duped’ into falling for his first mate, especially as his species mate for life. He is now tasked by his Commander who happens to be his brother, to help the humans on Ava’s planet to help settle and move them into one place for their own safety.
Arlen has an instant attraction to Ava, one he cannot fathom and tries his best to ignore, but it turns out not to be that easy. Ava tries her best to dislike to cold and aloof blue alien, but when he keeps coming to her aid her resistance crumbles.
A good story line that had some great world building and characters that I really enjoyed. Excitement, drama, intrigue, foes round every corner and a hot sexy domineering alpha make for a really enjoyable read. I would certainly read more of this series and more from this author based on this book. Highly recommended reading for and Sci Fi Alpha loving readers!
Emotionally thrilling, action packed adventure filled with danger, secrets and undeniable passion with a sweetly heartfelt chance at forever twist….. was a very entertaining read from beginning to end and was so hard to put down.
Loved it! This is the third book in the series and you could read it as a stand-alone, but the first two books are excellent too. This is Arlen’s story. He is the warrior brother and has been assigned to manage a planet of humans (yes, against his will) but he meets Ava and together they fight each other and the enemy. I’m loving the Eoks. The are strong, deadly and blue. The women they choose are just as strong. Great read. I will admit there was one scene (I saw it coming) and I thought I was going to end up hating Ava but Arlen saved the day. Plan to read in one sitting. Hopefully Khal is next. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
The third book in the Eok Warrior series a book that I was not putting down once I started it. The story-line is well written and flows smoothly from page to page. Ava is the only doctor on Aveyn she has a secret she must keep hidden or it means her death, she is a hybrid which is illegal. Arlen comes to Aveyn as the new Eok warrior in charge. Their story will be full of suspense, drama, danger, evil, a villain, a weapon of mass destruction, attempted murder, and one strong willed woman and the man she comes to love. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A healer’s touch
Oh my goodness! I just knew Arlen’s story would be epic when we finally got to read it and I am not disappointed. I absolutely love the emotions the author was able to portray in her telling of this tale. I felt pain, joy, love, hate and shed plenty of tears along the path to this much deserved HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book from this author.
This is a strange world that Mary Auclair has created. The concepts are good, but they really don’t come together in her writing. Her characters are enigmatic and engaging, but some of her creatures are quite frightening, and at times I got lost in their descriptions. This story took some effort for me to read and I found I just wanted to skip over the erotic scenes.
Arlen, I feel sorry for him. His first wife didn’t love him, used him to get power. But she did not get what she wanted so she betrayed him and was killed for it. Arlen is an honorable man and he does care. His dead wife took something from him now he is something else.
I hope that he will be able to accept Arlen and her love. Very good story. This is the third book in this series they are full of danger, excitement and pure human stubbornness. I love it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I thought that this was a wonderful read. Offering an enticing blend of drama, excitement and raw emotion, this book was very engaging and captured my interest quickly. The story is complex and the romance beautiful. My heart ached for both these characters. Ava was strong, fiesty, smart and caring. My heart broke for her and the prejudice she had to deal with everyday. Arlen was a very tempting, dominate male. He had previous relationship baggage but I also felt this wounded warrior edge to him. I felt that he had reached a point where it was just easier to shut off all his emotions, rather than feel anything more. A very moving read.
Venomous Heart is the third book in the Eok Warriors series. Arlen does not want his current assignment, of keeping peace for a year, and just wants to get back to fighting. He’s cold, uncompromising, that is, until a doctor storms into his office, fearless, making demands, and igniting a passion within him. Ava shouldn’t exist, but lives to save anyone she possibly can. But can Arlen and Ava navigate the dangers that still reside around and within their planet?
This book is definitely my favorite of the series so far! Oh my goodness! I loved Arlen and Ava! I loved what they had to go through separately and then together, I loved the drama and trials they faced, I loved the passion that burned brightly between them, and I loved the lengths they were both willing to go to for those they loved! Arlen was so stoic, focused only on his job, but I really enjoyed watching him open up around Ava, slowly laughing and showing some vulnerability. Ava was such a strong character, facing such adversity but just wanting to belong. It was fascinating to watch her realize that she wasn’t alone anymore, that she had more than just Uril in her life and just how special she truly was. There is so much that happens in this book, between politics, health concerns, safety issues, and a forced claiming, and I was flipping pages to figure out what was going to happen next! Plus, their attraction and passion mixed into everything was the cherry on top of an amazing book! I am loving this series, devoured this addition, and will anxiously await the next book!
A heartfelt love story!
It’s a fantastic story – very complex, potential enemies around every corner. Arlen is an Eok War Commander, called back from the frontier to take care of the situation on Aveyn. Arlen’s backstory is so sad! He really got rooked by that first ‘mate’ of his! Ava has to work pretty hard to get him to loosen up a bit. She’s just what he needs. But her first loyalty still remains with her very sickly brother.
Ava is the only Doctor on Aveyn. Her human patients hate her because of who she is. What a stressful position! I cannot imagine working under such conditions. I admire her for all the ‘endless’ hours she spends on such thankless work. She also has the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what’s right, regardless of the size or threat of the opposition!
Great reading! Packed with thrills and excitement all the way.
