-Tinks-From the moment I befriended him, I set a conspiracy in motion.A revolution.Kill Peter Pan.And I was their ultimate weapon.I was also none the wiser, falling hopelessly and irrevocably in love with him as the years went by.Just as they hoped I would. But their plan comes to a screeching halt when Peter vanishes into thin air, something I’ll learn has nothing to do with Rosewood at all.You … to do with Rosewood at all.
You see, Peter never truly loved me…because he loved a wench instead.
He lied to me, he used me, he left me, and he broke me.
Forever altering me in ways that incite revenge when Hook sweeps in with revelations and the ultimate truth.
Peter may have turned his back on me, but in the end, he and his precious little Wendy will choke on every last tear I once shed.
And I’ll have Hook to thank for that.
-Hook-
It’s no secret I always despised Peter Pan.
A common threat amongst the factions, I should’ve killed him when I had the chance, long before he sank his claws deep into Tinksley’s heart.
But his death at my hands wasn’t what the plan called for, despite how I felt for her.
I’d always been drawn to the girl, innocently enough at first…until that vile abomination marked her with his stamp, unleashing a sense of propriety I had no rights to.
Didn’t matter—he had her…and I wanted her.
Then like magic, he disappeared.
I thought my time had come, but the road to owning Tinksley’s heart comes with a price.
A price so dark and depraved it strips her of her purity and awakens the beast within.
All because of the truth.
Sometimes, there is honor in revenge, and it will be my utmost pleasure to watch as Peter Pan finally meets his maker.
His maker who will soon be my Queen.

Okay. Okay. Alright. Now that my heart has stopped racing, I can tell you what I think of this book. Here’s what I have to say: READ IT!! If you’re a fan of the dark and twisted, of macabre delights, and of spine-tingling thrills, you NEED this book in your life!! Venom is a dark romance reimagining of the Neverland story we all grew up on and loved.
What I absolutely loved about this book was how far the author was willing to go to give us readers something unique and yet oddly familiar. We get the same characters with a completely different story. So while I felt I knew who these people were, I had absolutely no idea.
Tinksley: a young halfling (fairy/fae) who resides in Rosewood and is a true daughter of the people. She’s everything pure and light. However, she’s impetuous, reckless, immature, and childish. She fell in love with the one man everyone told her to stay away from and this love led to unexpected ruin.
Can’t blame anyone. I really was a stupid child playing at being a woman, ignoring every red flag just to get my way…
Hook: well, first of all, he doesn’t have a hook! He was the ruler of Rosewood. Everyone looked to him for answers and he was pretty adept at finding solutions. He was a centuries old vampire, a pirate, and he was quite used to getting what he wants.
What’s sexiest about Hook is his confidence. He knows he’s a walking masterpiece and he owns it.
So why not five stars? If I had one complaint? I wanted more time with Hook and Tinks as a couple. I love that they were the ones to introduce Dee Garcia’s new series, but I wanted to see them really gel as one. So much of this story was Tinks fighting against everything he had to offer and, maybe I’m just plain greedy, but I just wanted more!!
He watched and he waited. He wanted Tinks, but he wanted her to want him in return. While she was blindly captivated by Pan, he knew all of the secrets. And when she is left devastated, he’s the one holding her together. I think what, or rather who, I loved most in this book was Hook. He was this lethal, calculating, intelligent man and yet he was such a freaking gentleman. He was literally everything there was to love about this story. And honestly, for him alone, you should be as desperate to read this book as I was.
Hook me, baby! Dannnng, this book (excuse the pun) hooked me right from the get-go. I was in love with the devilishly handsome and villainous Captain Hook the moment I met him in the story! He’s so intense and focused on his infatuation…Tinksley. She’s a spitfire and just the kind of woman/fae/troublemaker Hook needs! This story was a fascinating retelling of Peter Pan, but a million times better! I loved the darkness and intrigue!! And the heat/romance was spot on…never missing a beat! I definitely recommend this juicy book! Five HOOK IS MY HERO Stars!
Right, I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of this when I first started considering it had quite a few of my no-no’s in it, but this one crept up and caught me unawares and I really enjoyed and appreciated the individuality of the story.
So first off this is a darkish retelling of a fairy tale based on and around the whole hook, Peter Pan and Tink fairytale.
I do love me a retelling and this one is one of my favourites to date.
So this is certainly not the Disney Take this one is so much darker and contains plenty of heat, blood and Tragedy.
I really appreciated this alternative version it kept me guessing throughout and was such an enthralling and unique read.
This was quite slow burn between Hook and Tink but when the two do eventually connect it was explosive and I could feel the chemistry and holy hell that Twist I so didn’t see that one coming at all it was fantastic.
Also Loved the finale here, it was just so twistingly satisfying and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Highly recommend this one especially if you like unique and different, this has that and so much more.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Venom.

Five infamous stars!
OMFG! What a delicious twisted dark retelling is Venom by Dee Garcia! It is so unique. It made me forget everything I know about Nederland. I said goodbye to my childhood memories about the world of Peter Pan. It would never be the same. I’m shocked and too excited to even describe all the great things this retelling deserves. I have never read something like this. It took my breath away. It filled me out with obscure temptation. It ruined me for all the fairy tales because now I expect them to be dark, dirty and so twisted and full of sinful nature.
Dee Garcia has done an excellent job with this piece of wicked temptation. She penned a story out of this world. She is a new author to me and I wasn’t aware that her writing was too addicting and sinful. As a lover of dark romance I would dare to say that this book left obscene prints that I won’t be able to forget. Not in a million years. It made me crave. It made me ache in the most wonderful ways. She painted an enticing world that welcomes you with open arms. A world she re-created with her own words taking fantasy to a new whole level. Fast paced. Beautifully written. The plot was very engaging. Obscure, shockingly twisted and oh so addicting. Each chapter burned my childhood memories to ashes and they were replaced with new darkish ones. It is a macabre delight that thrills you to the bone.
Arrrg! My heart ached for Tinksley. My soul craved for Hook. Both characters were re-invented in the most delicious and twisted ways. Their story has a lot of twists, turns and things that have you at the edge of your seat. I love the intrigue, the darkness that surrounded them. And the heat and romance that flourished from the web of lies and truths that let you with an open mouth. Tinksley, the innocent fairy/fae, a true resident of Rosewood is purity and light. She is impetuous, reckless and rebellious. She is not supposed to spend time with the man forbidden for her but she defies everyone who told her to stay away for him. His soul is full of lies and his heart is full of deceit. She never tough he could be her ruin until is too late.
Hook, oh my Captain, is the ruler of Rosewood. An infamous protector hidden in the darkness. The pirate who always gets what he wants. He watched. He waited. He planned. In the shadows he looked out for his treasure. He could be seen as a bloody villain but villains don’t feel remorse of their crimes. Callan just took the opportunity to finally claim what was his. He healed the broken pieces of his little treasure, the temptress, the pixie who has held his black heart since the beginning. He is lethal, intelligent and oh so sexy and hot. He managed to be a dark gentleman in spite of his evil ways. He was literally the cherry on the top of the cake of this story. He is the epitome of dark book boyfriends… Aye, aye, Captain!
Venom is maleficence and darkness wrapped in hot steamy wicked perfection. It is an uncommon and unforgettable retell of Peter Pan but much more better. Unique and original don’t cover it. Dee Garcia introduces us to a devilishly handsome and sinful Captain Hook and a sassy/trouble maker/pixie Tinksley Bell. He is darkness. She is light. He is what nightmares are made of. She is purity. Both too different but at the same time too similar. They are a match made in wickedness. They are ardent, complicated and perfect for each other, raw and beautiful.
What a kick off for the Sinister Fairy Collection is Venom. I’m very impressed and my expectations are high for the upcoming books of what I think is going to be an EPIC series! I recommend you this book with closed eyes. You need this book in your life. Forget everything about the fairy tales your read when you were a child and prepare yourself for unexpected journey of twisted stories and dark desires.
Fairytale stories are really some of my favorites to read, especially when they add a unique take on the original. I kinda was crushing hard on Captain Hook. Venom sucked me in from the very beginning and kept me enthralled all of the way to the end.
OMG!! I will never see Neverland the same way as when I was a kid. You Mrs.Garcia just ruined me for all fairy tales from now on I will expect to see all dark and twisted ways in them this was just out of this world. Hook he became my favorite but to be all honesty I think he always was even the Disney version and Tinksley if I love Tinkerbell I definitely love Tinksley with all this bad*** woman she is. I love every single moment of it it was a mind blow read I will definitely what to read more of this dark retelling tales.
Hands down this is one of my favorite books! I absolutely love this and Hook and Tink are a couple to talk about! I don’t think I will ever be able to look at Tink, Hook or Peter pan the same ever again! Love, Love, Love and highly recommend this book!!!!!
I absolutely love Hook and Tink! This book had me not wanting to put it down! It is steamy, unpredictable! I loved that about this book though! I can’t wait to read more of this world created by this amazing author! I don’t think I can ever look at any of these characters the same after reading this book! It is a whole new spin on things for sure!!! I would highly recommend this book for those who love twisted, steamy, unpredictable reads!
Loved this reread! Retellings are my jam and this is still my favorite Hook & Tink retelling. It’s a crazy ride but still as captivating and addicting as the first time I read it. It’s dark and so bloody but the angst is *chefs kiss* perfect.
I loved every twisted word of this dark rewrite of Peter Pan. I’ve had this on my Kindle for a while but finally got to it. Tink is amazing and Hook is to die for!
Wow! What a read from a first time author but definitely not the last since I will be starting Lost Girl as soon as I am finished with this review. Dee Garcia is amazing. She gave us Dark, Taboo, Multiple Paranormals, Possessive/Jealous, Fantasy, Witty Banter, and Sexual Tension and Scenes that will set your ereader on Fire. There were so many twists in this book that I couldn’t turn the page fast enough to see what was going to happen in this Triangle between Pan, Tinksley and Hook. So, if all of this sounds amazing to you, 1-Click this book because it is so worth it. Loved. It.
Neverland definitely does not exist! Well at least not in the variation you grew up reading.
Rosewood is what it is affectionately called these days and the inhabitants are far more scary than that of the version we have all come to know.
The characters you loved before are the bad guys and the bad guys are, ahem, “the good guys.”
Okay, so that’s not strictly true. The bad guys, aka, Hook and his pirates are very much still bad. But now they’re deliciously bad. The kind of delicious that were they do kidnap you, you wouldn’t mind being held prisoner. Not one bit.
Praise where praise is due, this world building the author has created absolutely blows my mind. I mean she has taken a world that we all grew up knowing, twisted it, revamped it, given it depravity and made it something that borders on what we once knew but is so far removed that you really do wonder how her clever mind has written it.
Absolutely loved it.
Enthralling. Depraved. Hot!
This is definitely not the fairytale you once knew. It’s so much better. Can’t wait for more!
I Give this Book a 3.5-4/5 Star Rating, Listing as 3.
This book was a bit confusing to rate.
HEA(?): For Tink and Hook, Yes. Lol
Dark(?): Yes, I give this a Solid 3/5. But this may be darker to others, I personally wish it was darker.
Romance: 3/5, This I believe would be classified as a Slow Burn Romance, but it was too slow and yet rushed that I almost feel like the development between them felt a bit lacking in believability.
Heat: 3.5-4/5
Drama: 4/5
Suspenses 4/5
Please understand that this is a series with flowing storyline between individual stand-alone’s.
This is an intriguing version of the Peter-Pan universe and I look forward to Wendy’s book!
Tink and Hook’s book was a bit hard to concentrate on, cause to me they weren’t really the sole focus of the this book and you have to concentrate on other things while trying to focus on them.
I believe Tink & Hooks book should not have been book one, this plot felt too important to be the first book. Because usually first books have to be jammed pack to make the universe understandable and that what happened I believe here, and Tink & Hooks relationship became lost.
But despite that, this universe has caught my attention and always enjoy Dee Garcia’s books!
It’s dark and twisted and deliciously wicked; it will have you wondering if this is really the way all adult fairytale remakes should be. I have no idea where DG came up with her ideas for this remake but it so works in this dark world of Neverland. I want more. More retelling like this, more of this Neverland, more adult fairytales like this
This was a story I didn’t know I needed! A darker twisted version of Hook, key word being TWISTED! To take a fairytale that is already dark by nature and make it sinister is an amazing feat. Dee twists the telling by adding vampires and Fae’s. The human world and the other releams. I am team Tink and Hook. Always have been. They are both sinister beings that come together in this story of betrayal and overcoming hurt. I look forward to more stories of the Rosewood releam!
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review
***4,5 “Oh, Callan!!!!” stars***
“Can I keep you, Tinksley? As my finest treasure?”
I’m impressed!!! I’m really impressed!!!
It’s a common secret that i love fairytales and that i used to read and love lots of fantasy and paranormal stories…
This story is a retelling of Peter Pan, but it was approached in a very different light than the original story!!! And with so much paranormal and fantasy touches in it!!!
“She’s purity and light, I’m maleficence and darkness.”
I just have to warn you that this is NOT your usual retelling!!!
It’s anything but sweet and magical!!!
It’s a dark, twisted and sinister retelling and it hasn’t much common facts with the original story!!!
Yes, there is a Peter Pan and a Tinkerbell and a Captain Hook in here, but they aren’t as you are remembering from your childhood!!!
“He had her… and I wanted her.
And it’s been that way ever since.”
And it will be heard as crazy to tell you that even though i liked Peter Pan and I hated Captain Hook in the original tale, in “Venom”, i felt the exact opposite thing!!!
Pan wasn’t my favorite person in here and honestly, i don’t know how i was feeling about him…
Tinksley, as was her name in here, was a sweet and smily girl, until she wasn’t because of Pan..
And Hook!!! Well, i can’t believe that I’m saying this shit, but i just loved him from the first moment!!!! I’m all for bad boys these days!!!!
“Can’t blame anyone. I really was a stupid child playing at being a woman, ignoring every red flag just to get my way.”
Well, Tink was in love with Pan…
Pan was with Tink, but he betrayed her…
Hook was always there watching her and he wanted Pan out of the picture…
But only Tink could do the job…
Well, honestly, i can not say more because the things were quite complicating in here!!!
But this fairytale was so twisted that it doesn’t remimd much what we used to know about this story!!!
And no, the main hero isn’t Peter Pan, but Captain Callan Hook!!! And i truly enjoyed it!!! Imagine…
“I’m what nightmares are made of, remember?”
“Not everyone has the same idea of nightmares.
“Oh, come on, You know what they say about me. I’m the big, bad man. The villain of Rosewood tales.”
“Are you really though?.. Or is that how you want people to see you?”
I repeat that it is a dark, twisted and fascinating in a weird way retelling!!! So, you may enter at your own risk!!!!
I, honestly, can’t wait to read the next books in the series and I’m very curious of how much twisted will be the rest of them!!!
Bring it on, girls!!!! I’m sooo ready!!!
“Why does it feel like you’ve been waiting years for this moment?
“Because I have…”
I’d like to thank Enticing Journey for sending me an e-arc of this book it is very much appreciated. So let’s start with the first thing this cover is absolutely beautiful I am blown away by how much I love this cover. Even more so I really loved the chapter art, the whole design of this book just blew me away.
The description itself is insanely intriguing. So this is a dark adult fairytale fantasy retelling about you guessed it Hook, Tink and Pan. It’s dark and twisted and I love it. This is the retelling that you didn’t know you needed. I really didn’t know I needed this until I read it, and I’m glad I did.
I have to admit from the first time we are introduced to Captain Hook I was hooked. His character was so intriguing and mysterious I also loved that we saw the more sensitive side of him when it came to how he felt about Tink but also that we got to see him in charge and leading. I liked the added aspect of him being a vampire and that instead of being the villain he was the hero so to speak.
Tinksley she is half fae and she really doesn’t want to be, she fights against every part of her fathers’ side. She starts off being very naive in her relationship with Peter especially until the party where Hook points out that he’s not that great to her. Tinksley makes a massive amount of character development in this book from when she’s with Peter and he then he left her to entering a massive depressiveness until her mother forces her to get out of bed. She tried to commit suicide and we go through a series of changes in Tinksley’s character from where she believes that she needs to die to having fight in her. I loved that change from the naive to the depressed to the fighter. The fighter part of Tinksley was my favourite side of her but also her relationship with Hook, I liked the teasing side of her that we got to see her.
I really enjoyed that we got to see multiple point of views from Hook, Tinksley and Peter. It was especially good being in Hook’s point of view I just found him a really interesting character. I think another thing was that I liked instead of Hook being the villain he is the hero and that it’s Pan that’s the villain. I love that for Tink in her story Peter is the villain and Hook is the hero.
Pan was an interesting character seeing him being the villain where he kills and there’s another reason for him immortality. I like that the author managed a little appearance from Wendy no matter how dark it may have been. Tinksley got her justice on Peter Pan. A really really dark justice and damn it was good! Pan was a very disgusting manipulative person especially doing what he did to Tink when he knew what they were. (Me trying to avoid spoilers.)
Tink and Hook’s relationship holy hot damn it was hot. The sexual tension was off the charts. The sex between them was very slow burn and insanely hot, the way that Hook just wanted to devour Tink and the way she wanted to be devoured. I think all I could have wanted was to see them more as a couple but I liked what we got. The way he was tearing his own heart apart trying to give Tink what she wanted. I loved their relationship I could read so much more of it.
Tink’s parents were interesting, her mum was always there as mums are. I liked that she was present for a certain amount of time in this book when Peter was around and when Peter broke her heart she was there. I also liked when Tink saw her mum after transitioning the little moment they had it was so sweet.
Tink’s dad the fae lord I feel very mixed about his character because he brought Peter into Ravenwood as punishment but he also didn’t think it through when it came to his daughter. I do have to admit when they find out that Hook has Tink both him and Tink’s mum do go and try and see her but he just wasn’t there. If you’ve read this book you’ll see why I’m conflicted.
I really enjoyed this book and it was a brilliant start to the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. I cannot wait for the next story which is Cold Queen by K Webster and I cannot wait for it! This story kept me hooked and I couldn’t put it down, I love Tink and Hook and I loved the story.
This is an adult fairy tale. What a dark and twisted retelling of a story! I will never think of Peter Pan the same again. This was a wonderful book that will blow your wind. Get yours today!!!
Wow, what a great paranormal, adult twist on a story we all know, I am not sure I will ever look at the movie the same way again…
This story had me sucked in and devouring each page. I loved every one of the twists, turns, plots, lies and hard truths that surround this story and I can not recommend this book enough!
OH EM GEE! So I am a sucker for fairytales, in any way I can get them. Then when they announced the Sinister Fairytales, you know I was ALLLLLL over that, and you guys… GUYS! Venom was THE BEST WAY TO START THIS COLLECTION! *Yes shouty caps are necessary. This twist on the Peter Pan/Tinkerbell/Captain Hook story is freakin’ amaze-balls. It’s just… UGH! Soooo good. Okay, I promise I’ll give legitimate reasons as to why I loved it so much, but I needed to get my book nerd freak out, out of the way. *deep breath in, out slowly*
I am going to do my best to write this up without spoilers, and since it’s stated in the synopsis I think it’s safe to say that this is Tink and Captain Hook’s story! Now the world that this story takes place is like taking the story you remember from the cartoon and adding so much more to it. A history, a way of life, and even more kinds of people. Think Paranormal meets Fantasy. Dee’s world building is incredible, I could almost feel myself within this land. The grass at my feet, the shade of the trees, etc. Now add in the obsession, compulsion, desire, need of these two characters… I’m shocked that the whole island didn’t go up in flames. These two battle wills while dealing with the secrets that have been bursting to break free from their places in the past. When they finally give in to these desires, it’s in such an elemental way, that you can feel the heat coming straight off the page! I wish Tink and Captain Hook’s story wasn’t over, cause I could totally dig more of their sexiness.
Forget what you think you know about this story, and immerse yourself completely in this retelling of a fairytale classic. You will be BEGGING for more!!! Can’t wait to see what next fairytale will be flipped on it’s end.
