The Vendetti EmpireThey’re the Vendetti crime familia, the most powerful mafia name in New York…Matteo Vendetti is a man who gets what he wants. As heir to the Vendetti Empire and the capo dei capi’s throne, he’s only required to do one thing. He must get married to prove that he’s matured and is stable enough to take over. The stipulation doesn’t sound like much of a challenge until he … until he realizes who his betrothed is. Violet’s the Bottaro Princessa, not just a random woman he met by chance in another country. She’s young—too young by his standards. She’s headstrong—a problem for a dominant man like Matteo. She’s desirable—the biggest issue of all.
Before long, Matteo’s questioning himself, wondering if Violet’s really such a burden, or if just maybe, he’s falling in love with something other than the Empire.
The Vendetti Queen
Violet Vendetti was the Bottaro princess– was.
She’d been betrothed to the Capo dei capi of New York, without ever knowing it.
A deal made, is a deal kept, as far as the Vendetti Crime family is concerned. No
matter that it was her father to plead for her safety offering up her hand in marriage
amongst other promises. The Capo always comes to collect what is owed.
Violet is swept away into a world she thought she knew, only to discover everything
isn’t what it may seem. From family traditions to deals struck, she learns exactly what
it takes to be the Vendetti queen.
This book is for those of us bored with the everyday romance reads everyone else is writing.

Well…this is one mafia book storyline I have never read before and lord have mercy, I freaking loved it!!!
I picked Vendetti by Sapphire Knight up after I seen Sapphire talking about how if you loved the movie 365 DNI that you would love this book. Well off to Amazon I went to one click and y’all, I am sooo glad I did cuz I loved this dark duo!! Damn…I kept looking over my shoulder making sure nobody was reading what I was reading..haha Talk about one smoken HAWT read!!! lol
Now I am off to see if some of these brothers got their own book!!! I have to read more about this Vendetti Familia!!!
If you like anti heroes and weird family dynamics this might be the book for you. There is a mafia angle, but the story does not spend much time on the action or runnings of mafia, more on the respect and traditions of one family.
In terms of weird family dynamics…I say that because there are some disturbing traditions in this story from the father physically checking for purity to sharing his wife with all the siblings on their wedding night. However, if that is what you enjoy about mafia or anti hero romances this might be your cup of tea.
The romance between the new married couple does progress and has chemistry from the first chapter. Their dialogues and negotiating was entertaining. So, I wish the story spent more time on their dynamics and showing how they taught the business to the princess.
Overall it is well written and a quick read. There is certainly room for more development and some questions were not answered regarding some siblings and towns. It would be interesting to see what happens next for this family.
Thanks for the chance to read this book and share my opinions!
I enjoyed the Vendetti duet. If you are after a hot steamy mafia read this is for you.
Empire which is the first book is fantastic, loved every minute of it.
Then we go into Queen which is the 2nd installment in the duet and wow.
Sapphire takes us on an enjoyable ride with these two books. You won’t be disappointed.
The Vendetti duet was a entertaining and steamy read. I enjoyed the push and pull between Matteo and Violet as they learned just what it was took to run the Vendetti empire. Some of their traditions left me a bit intrigued as I began to know each family member a bit better. I loved the epilogue and glimpses of the future of the Vendetti empire and hope that there’s more delicious stories to come from the rest of the family. This duet had quite an intriguing twist on mafia romance that made for a great afternoon read.
Wow! I have no words. This is a little dark and the mafia aspect you can expect some crazy things. However, some of the traditions from the Vendetti family are out of this world so you have to be prepared to think outside the box and keep an open mind. The chemistry between Matteo and Violet is explosive and I could get behind how they finally gave in.

I loved this duet! Oh, and the epilogues were perfect. A twisted start to be sure and a bunch of flips in this mafia read.
Part 1 – The Empire
Well, Sapphire started the story as she meant to continue…hard and fast and sexy af. There’s a lot of back room deals in the mafia with marriages arranged for strength being common. Although an unusual start to their marriage, something clicks between Matteo and Violet. Love how strong they become.
Part 2 – The Queen
She’s the queen of the empire and everyone knows it. The whole family are stronger and connected. Matteo & Violet are making their way in this violent and sexy series.
Matteo Vendetti is the oldest son of Romano Vendetti and trained since he was a child to take over the empire from his father, like his father did from Romano’s father. Romano had an arranged marriage for his son Matteo to Violet Bottaros a old mafia family from Chicago little did either one of them know that they had met before. This is my first mafia read from Sapphire Knight. These books are seriously different from whatever I’ve read regarding Italian mafia and arranged/forced marriage, specially considering the Vendetti Family ‘tradition’ and, as so, the first book feels like more of a reverse harem romance IMO, as other reviewers pointed out as well. It’s hot, well done and very intense and I would have loved Matteo to impose, since he held so much power as the new head of the Family and end said ‘tradition’. I like that even though Violet was young and was a virgin she was able to adapt to the fact that because of tradition she had to let each brother of which there were six other besides Matteo have sex with her on her wedding night. This tradition was put in place because they were to guard Matteo’s wife with their life and so this helped to insure that their would be no jealousy, but of course you know their would be. The brothers ranged in age from Cristiano 16, Santino 18, Luciano 21, Dante 24, Valentino 27, Salvatore 30. Matteo has earned the name Ruthless Vendetti, be we come to find out he had to be because he had a father who beat him like he would one of his enemies and had a mother that killed herself in front of him and his father. She short herself with a gun and his father did nothing to stop her. After that his father became mean and beat him and his other older brothers to try to make them into soldiers, so they sort of lost their childhood, which caused Salvatore to turn to drink and drugs to forget and Valentino to become Matteo’s right hand man along with Dante’. Of course we see that some of the brothers loved Violet more than others. Dante had to be sent to Chicago to help him let go of Matteo’s wife because he was falling in love with her and wanted her. This is why they had the tradition they had. Overall I really enjoyed this duet. It was a different type of mafia story. It told how complex a Head Mafia family works and the ins and outs of the familia.
I hope we get to see other stories about some of the other brothers. Like Cristiano, does he marry Sophia or Antonia, he is betrothed to Sophia so his brother has given him time to accept the fact that he must marry Sophia. He was the one that wanted to get married and he is only 17. Then their is Dante who is in love with Matteo’s wife what happens to him. Matteo and Violet’s first born is a girl, Liliana named for Matteo’s mother. There are so many stories to be had from this Vendetti Duet Book. I really enjoyed reading this book.
