Gracie Cain is a healer. I’m Noah Jarvis, a cold-hearted killer. We had one night. The best night. Then she thought she could strut out my front door and my life, right after announcing she was my best friend’s baby sister.“Give me a memory, Noah.”That’s what she said … right after she rendered me stupid in the shadows at a wedding reception. I did everything I could to figure her out. She wore … to figure her out. She wore more veils of armor than I’ve seen in a lifetime. On the outside, she was strong and self-assured. But within those beautiful, guarded blues? She was laced with vulnerability and grief.
She got the memory she wanted, but in the process, I was left branded.
When she ran, I had no choice but to follow. Not only did I go after her, I chased her halfway around the world. Because when it comes to her, one memory isn’t enough. It doesn’t matter that there couldn’t be a more opposite pair than us.
But when my job came back to bite me in the ass, I wasn’t the only one caught in the crossfire. It bought us memories no one was counting on.
That’s when all the veils were ripped off.

A great addition to this series. Chemistry between Noah and Gracie is sizzling from the beginning. Throw in twist and turns and your hooked until the end. A definite must read.
Gah!
Couldn’t put this book down.
As the series grows, the threats to the couples and their families grows bigger and deadlier with major bombshells thrown in between.
You won’t want to look away!! (Especially with Harry popping up for surprise kisses).
This book was just as superb (if not better) than the rest of the series and you’ll enjoy watching yet another killer being struck down by cupids arrow and happy tears.
Would give more stars if I could.
I love it when I can say that the books in a series just gets better with each new addition. After reading book 3, I was so in love with Asa’s book that I thought that would be it. No way could I love anything more. Boy, was I wrong.
Noah Jarvis has been a very anticipated book for fans of this series, myself included. I knew it was going to be good, but this was so much more. I was blown away by how much I fell for Noah and Gracie. The feels in this was unexpected. Each chapter had me melting into a pile of mush all the way to the end.
You know that satisfying feeling you get with some books as you close out that last chapter? Where you knew you picked the perfect read, at the perfect time, and you just want to sit for awhile and recap the whole darn book in your head? That’s how Noah and Gracie made me feel when I finished.
Their journey was rough and I quote from the book “we’ve hit every pothole” but Noah’s determination to make Gracie his made every single pothole worth it.
Confession: I was not a fan of “Jarvis” in the first 3 books of the Killers Series (hangs head in shame) but Noah proved to be one amazing hero in Veils and the relationship between Noah and Gracie provided all the feels.
No spoilers except to say like all of Brynne’s books, the story takes us through every emotion and delivers a HEA but not without tears, laughter and a little bit of a broken heart when it’s over. Her books are like visiting old friends…we get a glimpse at previous heroes and heroines while falling in love with Noah and Gracie.
Needless to say, I cannot wait for the next book in this amazing series. Brynne has a gift and I for one am so happy she shares it with us.
I seriously LOVE The Killers romantic suspense series, so I’ve been feeling ALL the excitement in the lead up to reading Veils, book 4 in the series. Main characters this time are Grace Cain and Noah Jarvis – Gracie also appears in Paths ( book 2 ), where she was ‘number 4’, the youngest of the 4 Cain sisters. Absolutely NOT necessary to read Paths before diving into Veils – but read it anyway because it’s a fabulous read.
The Prologue of Veils gives a big hint of things to come, and I couldn’t wait to find out how Gracie and Noah ended up in THAT particular scenario. Gracie and Noah have a fascinating relationship, a one night stand where Noah makes a VERY good impression, and is then left somewhat befuddled as Gracie walks away. Or attempts to walk away! Their journey is filled with amazing chemistry, excitement, and all sorts of suspense and action across multiple locations.
Of course I also loved all the characters from across the series playing such a large part in the story – they added so much humour to the storyline. Big brother Grady can be a scary mofo when he feels his baby sister’s well-being is at risk. Awesome read – can’t wait for confirmation on the couple for book 5 🙂
4 Make a Memory Stars
I’ll be honest. I hesitated to read this. It’s the fourth in a series. But, man, what a start! Romantic suspense is my jam, and Veils satisfies that mix of romance and suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat and heart racing. And the title is perfect.
Noah is all man and Gracie is definitely his equal. Their first encounter is sexy, hot and memorable. It’s that feeling of wanting more, that it’s different this time, but it’s just not the right time. You aren’t looking for it but it’s right there.
Noah Jarvis. What can I say? Beyond the physical which is yum, he is loyal, confident, strong in his convictions, protective. He’s exactly the kind of man you’d expect for the kind of work he is involved in. What’s unexpected is the tenderness and soft spot he has for Gracie. Witnessing that was definitely memorable.
Gracie Cain is a young woman on a mission. She has all the same appealing qualities as Noah and more. She’s got a kind and giving heart. She loves beyond measure. She wants to give back.
Both are characters that fit. I wanted them together. I wanted their secrets revealed, sorrows healed, their background story solved. It kept the pages turning with an even pace. It makes me want to go back and read the others. My hesitation was unfounded. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their love story.
This book shot my productivity all to sh!&- once I started it, I couldn’t stop until I reached the end.
Not to eat.
Not even to pee.
Jarvis and Gracie’s story is epic. Full of action, suspense, and intrigue, each chapter was like peeling back another layer, taking me deeper and deeper into the heart of this beautiful love story with every twist and turn.
Jarvis and Gracie both have tragic pasts, and their hurts became my hurts. But their beautiful moments also became my beautiful moments, and those moments chased every shadow away.
I can’t even tell you about my favorite parts because spoilers, but trust me, I want to gush all about them!
Veils is the fourth book in the Killers series and can be read as a stand-alone, but the rest of the series is fantastic, so you might as well start at the beginning. You’ll have no regrets!
“Give me a memory.”
When Noah Jarvis meets Gracie Cain, he has no idea she is his friend’s little sister. That’s fine, though–this is only supposed to be a one night stand, right? Umm…wrong. That’s just the beginning for the killer and the healer.
I LOVED Noah and Gracie! From the moment they met, sparks were flying! What’s meant to be one memory, turns into so much more. This book is chock-full of action, suspense, humor, secrets and heat. It was wonderful to see all my favorites from the previous books–I’ve missed them! (The wives and their group text message with Jarvis had me laughing out loud!) Noah and Gracie had some tragic moments in their pasts and watching them be brave enough to shed their veils and show each other their true selves was a beautiful thing.
“When secrets are revealed, life is good. It might not always be easy, but nothing easy is worth fighting for.”
And just when I thought I’d made it through the book without having to grab all the tissues, Brynne Asher hit me with that epilogue. I didn’t mind though, because at the end, I was smiling through the tears.
“Life is too precious not to take advantage of every single moment. Memories. Our hearts are bursting with them.”
Yes. I know my heart is.
5 VEILS STARS!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book. This story gave my so many feels with suspense and so much more. Noah and Gracie have engraved their names on my heart. Veils is my favorite book in this series…..each book can be read as a standalone, but I say start with book 1.
Veils is my favourite Killers Novel so far!
The softness with which Jarvis and Gracie treat each other points to exactly how much love there is, even though Gracie was simply trying to find a one night stand.
Unfortunately for both Gracie and Noah, the love they feel toward each other is almost instantaneous and terrifying, and while Gracie keeps trying to walk away – Noah wants just one more memory.
One of my favourite books of 2019, Veils is an excellent example of how much each person has hidden behind each layer, and what each person is willing to do to keep those layers hidden.
Noah and Grace keep working to keep each other from making it through their walls, until Noah realizes if he doesn’t take steps to lock this situation down he may be lonely for the rest of his life.
I love how Brynne Asher can create fully independent characters that with just one little nudge realize how much they need each other.
Veils by Brynne Asher was a danger fuelled passionate romance. If you love alphas, this book should definitely be your next read. Because this was all about intensity and sensuality with the perfect thriller element.
It is the story of Noah Jarvis and Gracie Kain. They started as one night stand in a “family” wedding but they both feel it is not enough. Now Gracie is Noah’s best friend and brother by work, Grady’s sister. And they exactly do not have nine to five job. Jarvis is a killer for all purposes and he is part of a dangerous, intimidating and respected team. And Gracie does not need the volatile and risky man with a whole load of emotional baggages in her life. Specially because she suffered major traumas in her life and barely holding together with her strength. But her life is in danger now and Noah will not rest till he makes her safe.
Ex military man working in special ops with his broody, arrogant and cool vibes will be my death. Jarvis checks each of my boxes. Cocky. Efficient. Protective. Bossy. Dominating. Super protective of people he cares about. Hard and edgy and ruthless with enemies. Soft and loving with his woman. I love the way he talks, he moves, he commands attention, he controls situation and yet gets uncontrolled with Gracie. She is an amazing woman. He broken heart holds so much love and power to heal. Only a strong yet vulnerable woman like her can enter Noah’s dark soul. They are a perfect match. Their chemistry and bond will bring you to your knees. The story mixes the nailbiting suspense and action with romance perfectly. You will sit on the edge of your seat to know what is happening next. And at the same time swoon, sigh and melt with the romance.
Veils by Brynne Asher captured my undivided attention from the first chapter. And I was on the edge of anticipation and angst all the time. A brilliant read.
Received ARC for Honest Review
Oh my gosh!!! I’ve been waiting forever for this book and it’s everything and more than I could have ever hoped for!
Holy cow, this book was absolutely fantastic!! Brynne Asher always creates the best alphas around and Noah Jarvis definitely tops the list. He knows exactly what and who he wants and does whatever that is needed to get it. It was awesome how we were able to traipse around the world with them individually and then together. Noah and Gracie’s love story is full of intense and explosive chemistry, anticipation of what was to come and the ultimate happily ever after.
On top of what I’ve already listed, we have the great suspense driven storyline that definitely keeps you guessing, and the heartbreaking and tragic past for both but then to see the healing powers they give to each other.
I really do not want to say anything more, but I do want to say the familiar faces we see adds so much to the greatness of this book. I highly recommend this book and all the others from this amazing author!! 5-stars all the way!
Do I even need to write anything in this review? I mean, it’s a romance by Ms. Asher… that should suffice to convey the likelihood of this being an awesome read.
I had been waiting a long time for Jarvis to get his story, and the fact Gracie Cain is the one to melt this badass’ heart was just plain perfection.
Now beware, there are some topics mentioned that might be a bit sensitive for some people but nothing so drastic that warrants a warning IMHO.
Gracie was the best. After what she went through as a child and what that entailed for her future, she still had the softest heart ever. Warm, caring, funny and with tons of sass and some serious backbone, Gracie is now one of my favorite heroines by Ms. Asher.
And Jarvis… Sigh. Picture the most perfect book-boyfriend you could come up with, then make him a hitman who takes out bad guys and that’ll be him. Bossy, alpha, uber protective and surprisingly sweet and romantic in that alpha-macho way… This prime piece of hunky badass will melt your butter in no time flat.
With lots, and LOTS of action, a bit of family drama, seriously hot sexnanigans, and all the romance your heart will ever need, Veils totally rocked my world. Ms. Asher, please keep up the good work… and like, really, really fast?
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
Finally!!! It feels like I have been waiting forever for Jarvis’ book and it more than exceeded my expectations. Which were really freaking high! Jarvis and Grace’s tale hits the ground running and the action kept me glued to the pages wondering what would happen next. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite romantic subgenres. But their love story? True perfection. No one writes an alpha male like this author. Noah Jarvis is just bossy enough to give the delicious shivers. But underneath all the badassery is a man sensitive to his woman’s needs the most important of which is her happiness. I think we all need a Jarvis in our life. Grace is one lucky lady! Grace has raced to the top of my list of all-time favorite heroines. To say she had a difficult childhood is an understatement. But she survived and thrived and her spirit is beautiful. Initially, she tries to push Noah away and marginalize their time together and I have to admit I was a bit confused at first. But as Grace’s motivations become clear, it becomes understandable and heartbreaking. I have such admiration for her, and her life’s journey makes her truly an amazing woman. And Noah certainly has some baggage of his own. Recalling the angry, determined man from earlier in the series I finally totally got where he was coming from.
This story had many twists and turns and a few surprises I did not see coming. Our couple’s adventures take us to Belgium, Africa, France, and the US. And these locales each add something special to our experience of their love story and the development of the plot. I have enjoyed each and every book in this Killers Series. They just seem to keep getting better and better! Of course we have appearances by Crew, Asa, Grady and the rest of the gang. It was great to catch up with their lives and they are integral to the story as well. The title of the book helps give true meaning to its contents. The veils that cover secrets, the veils that cover feelings, the veils waiting for the right person to brush them aside and see what’s beneath. This is a stellar addition to The Killers series and I loved every word.
I always go into a book that is 3 or 4 of a series (with the previous books being ones I love) a little skeptical because how am I going to love the new book as much as I loved the others. When it happens it’s like Christmas Day. Well, after reading this it felt like Christmas came early. I loved everything about this story. The brother’s best friend trope was just how I like it with just enough of this and that to keep my attention. Not too mention the whole alpha male thing for me I need an alpha in my literary life. This book could be read as a standalone and you won’t be lost. I highly recommend reading it.
I wish I could give this book 10 stars!
Tears have never felt so good, especially in this suspenseful story of love and deceit. Brynne Asher has written yet another book full of epic twist that will have you reading at the edge of your seat! Lots of heat, so much heart, and a plot you didn’t see coming! I couldn’t help but fall even more in love with Jarvis and his lady while also loving being able to catch up with Crew, Asa, and Grady! This is a must-read and some of this author’s best work yet!
Jarvis and Gracie are my new favorite couple from Brynne Asher!
Jarvis is the best of the best at his job. He likes to work alone to ensure his jobs are done right and he stays off the radar. Gracie is just looking to make a memory. How can one night change everything?
HOLY COW!!! Jarvis and Gracie’s story will take you on one crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions! This journey is full of twists and turns that you won’t see coming. So many emotions will be felt. One thing is certain, you will fall head over heels for this outstanding couple.
Brynne gives us such a unique story that stays so true to the Killers series! Jarvis and Gracie’s story is so full of passion, suspense, action, hot sex (OMG the hot sex), and last but definitely not least, pure and deep love! I was absolutely addicted to this book from the first chapter! This is a definite MUST READ!! Easiest 5 stars I’ve given this year!
This has to be my favorite Brynne Asher novel to date simply because of all the emotion behind it. The emotion is raw, real and it stays with you throughout the book. Noah and Grace’s chemistry is off the charts they are just perfect for one another in more ways than one. They compliment each other in the best possible way! They have baggage just like everyone; but once they are able to peel back the layers and allow themselves to be vulnerable that is when the magic happens! This book is a journey of self-acceptance, self discovery, and ultimately finding the one person you are able to let your guard down around so you are able to find the happiness you deserve!
This is the much anticipated 4th book in the Killer series. Oh boy this book starts out on the edge. Then your dangling there wanting more. There is no slow build up to this book its off and running from the first page. So brace yourself!
Grace Cain is a pediatric nurse on her way to Africa. She is Grady Cains little sister. All she wants is independence from her overprotective family.Grace wants no part of a relationship.
“GIVE ME A MEMORY NOAH”
Noah Jarvis is a killer.A member of the Crew but apart. A chance meeting and a one night stand hot enough to scorch the sheets change both there lives forever. Noah is a alpha to the core and there is something special about Grace he cant let go.
“ME-MARK MY WORDS,LITTLE LOVER. I’LL BECOME YOUR HARDEST HABIT TO BREAK”
Across continents there story unfolds with lots of action and suspense that keeps you savoring each page. Defiantly should go to the top of your TBR pile. There is also a hint of who might be the next to fall and that one is going to be a whopper!
