On his planet, husbands own their wives.Julie is desperate to travel to Tarrkua and join her sister–the only family she has left in this universe. But to reach the distant alien planet, she must assume the identity of another Earth woman who’s supposed to marry a Tarrkuan. Can she pull off the switch without her new alien husband learning of her deceit? After years spent in the asteroid mines, … in the asteroid mines, Varro returns to his home planet only to discover his betrothed has married another. Angry and hurt, he vows to never trust another female again, though he knows he must fulfill his duties to his people and procreate as soon as possible. Now he must take the human bride who’s offered to him–a stranger from Earth, no less. But warmth fills him the moment he first glimpses his little bride, and her sweet demeanor soon wins him over. Perhaps an arranged marriage to a human is what the Gods had intended for him all along.
Once Julie and Varro are married, he takes her home and claims her thoroughly, leaving no doubt in her mind that she now belongs to him. He also informs her that he’s more than her husband–he’s also her master–and she’s expected to obey his every command. When she’s naughty, he doesn’t hesitate to apply a sturdy leather strap to her bottom. But he also possesses a gentler side and she can’t help falling for the strict but loving alien. She also can’t help but shudder in ecstasy as he claims her roughly, time and time again, leaving her breathless and trembling for his masterful touch.
But all lies eventually unravel. What will Varro do when he learns of her deceit?

This is book two of the Tarrkuan masters series. Julie is the little sister of the main character in the first book. Her parents have died in a fire and she wants to be with Nova, her only family. She knows a girl, Caylee, that is to be a Tarrkuan bride. Caylee and Julie could be twins, so they trade lives with the help of her little brother. Caylee is to be the bride of Varro, one of the ruling class, but now that will be Julie. Once there, they are mated, but it doesn’t take Varro long to find out that Julie is not the bride he expected. Will they stay together, even though Julie has lied to him? There is a HEA.
This second book in the series is fast paced and steamy. After her parent’s die, Julie has to lie her way to Tarrkua to be with her sister Nova. Once she learns how strict Varro is, she’s not sure if their marriage will work but she submits to him and calls him master (or Xerr in Tarrkuan). They both have something to hide that may bring doubts to their marriage. Julie worries about what could happen once Varro finds out her lie. They both start to have feelings for each other. Great ending!
This is an entertaining story about a woman who lies, pretends to be someone else so she can take her place and marry an alien in order for her to go to the same planet that her sister now lives on. The characters are likable and well written, despite Julie pretending to be someone else she does actually start to fall in love with her new husband. This means that she really does have a problem as he thinks she’s Caylee and she’s scared she’ll lose him when he finds out the truth. It’s a pretty quick read and a great read.

Trying to catch my breathe….WOW! The story has it ALL and then some! From page one, I was kept in suspense, fear and worry that Julia’s plans would not succeed. Varro’s Human Bride is a stand-alone Alien Romance, the second in Tarrkuan Masters series and each book is intriguing, lots of mystery, the sexual scenes are HOT!
In life, we have an idea about where we wish to go – what we wish to do and sometimes our course is laid out for us. Then, life happens and everything changes – Varro is from Royalty and expected to become the head of family but he isn’t sure this is what he wants. Julia is a content with her life until family tragedy occurs and then she wants to see her sister – ohhhhh, sister is light years away on the planet Tarrkua- now how will she accomplish this. And the story takes off! Varro and Julia are strongly attracted to each other but can they overcome the obstacles to being together and the lies?
Sue Lyndon is a gifted writer which is seen through her well written and well developed stories. Her characters have depth, we care about them, as she deftly questions life an our place in our Community. This series is a great read.
Thank you, Sue Lyndon!
Book two in the Tarrkuan Masters series a well written story with a great storyline I was not putting the book down until I finished reading. Julie and Varro’s story which I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is probably one of my favorite books by Sue Lyndon! She does an amazing job balancing the dominance and understanding for Varro & the strength and submissiveness for Julie! Sue brings sexiness, suspense, and adventure to this story that has you at the edge of your seat! A great read!!
This story is just so sweet and lovely. The characters just pull you into the story so you can’t put it down. Varro is a firm but likable alien and Julie, your heart just bleeds for her. If you like sci-fi, romance, HEA and sweet love stories this is the one for you.
A spicy alien romance
Varro’s Human Bride is an easy to read, sexy sci-fi romance. Tarrkuan men own their wives and will punish them for any misdemeanours, though there is only one punishment scene in the book, so this is at the lighter end of the spectrum and unlikely to offend readers. It has an interesting plot, is well written and has two likeable characters in Julia and Varro.
For me personally the book lacked a little depth, there were hints at Varro not being happy with the hierarchical nature of Tarrkuan culture, but this aspect wasn’t built on. The relationship between Julia and Varro, whilst very sweet and caring, was also very instant. There was some attempt to explain things from Julia’s side, with her discovering she enjoyed being dominated and the feeling of being cared for. I would have just liked some more ’emotional’ convincing.
There are some very well written emotional elements and the author is able to write a convincing story. However this is quite a quick read, more of a novella, and this means the plot has to move along at quite a pace. It is still a good read and fans of alien sci-fi romance would definitely enjoy it.
Varro’s Human Bride
Julie needs to get to Tarrkua. She needs to see her sister and share sad news. There’s nothing left for her on Earth anymore. In order to do this she switches places with a real betrothed Tarrkuan bride. Varro is her mate. She pledges to be the best mate and wife. She just needs him to fall madly in love with her so when he finds out the truth he won’t send her away. But can she follow all Varro’s rules or face discipline? And when Varro learns the truth will his feelings for her be enough for him to forgive her. Julie and Varro are a wonderful Sci-Fi couple and I hop to hear more on them in future stories.
Steamy read.
Varro’s Human Bride is an intriguing story with wonderful characters. He is not only her husband, he is her master and it doesn’t take long before she finds out what happens when she disobeys. Will he still want her when he finds out the reason that she is deceiving him.
This is the story of two Earth females who decide to secretly change places. Julie goes to Tarkkua to become the wife of Varro. Caylee remains on earth to undertake Julie’s role. Julie wants to find her sister to tell her of their parent’s death, but it is much more complicated than she assumed.
I love the way this story gives us the point of view of both characters. It was beautiful to watch their love grow, and to feel the negative repercussions of lying. And, I was impressed by their distinctive view of marriage and family life. Although Domestic Discipline is an important part of married life, it is not overdone, and in Julie’s case totally earned.
This story kept my interest from beginning to end. You will need to read it yourself, to see how it all turns out.
