** This is book 1 in the International Bestselling Evelyn Maynard Trilogy – a paranormal reverse harem romance.

I cannot wait for book 2. This is one the best reverse harem books out there. What a triumph for this new author.
Hmm… so, I read this as a polyamorous book. It’s more reverse harem; one girl with multiple males.
But, given the age of the characters, it’s more New Adult as a category but it’s written with a very YA feel. There are several scenes which build up steam but the old interrupt routine kicks in, which given my expectations, is disappointing.
But, it does have plenty of excitement. Eve, who’s been on the run since before she can remember – pretty much isolated with her mum as they moved from place to place. But then disaster strikes.
Talk about finding yourself!
Poor Eve is put through the wringer as she discovers more and more about who she truly is.
I love most of the characters. Oddly, Eve isn’t really one of those; I just didn’t warm to her. Given her upbringing, her reactions are understandable. But, meh, I don’t know, she’s just a bit of a contradiction.
I did really enjoy Gabe’s character – so reserved but bubbling beneath the façade.
And Ethan who’s loveable underneath his playboy exterior.
And Josh – just auugh; gorgeous!
Sorry, but Alec is just an ahole! I love a bad boy, but he’s not quietly brooding. Alec is just a hurtful, spiteful git! There is no excuse for his actions.
And there’s lots of things unanswered, but then it’s the first of a series, so maybe those answers will come later.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a thrilling story with plenty of action.
I actually enjoyed it, hence my rating. I dug the X-Men vibe with a difference.
And I’d recommend to a friend.
I just think it could’ve been…more.
Thank you! Thank you! For recommending this book!! I have to track down who it was, I just know it was someone from Siobhan’s Squad….Siobhan Davis’ Street Team. But I am sooo thankful, because it was sooo good and I cannot wait for book two!!!
This book is paranormal romance reverse harem! At first I was like, ok where is this going? Then I was like oh she going to this special school for variants. Cool!! Then she gets involved with the guys very gradually and relationships are very gradual, there is still room for growth. I don’t want to say too much. But it’s a really cool, really exciting book, the reverse harem part is huge in the book for a while, but it picks up. What I mean by that is relationships, and I don’t mean sex, don’t start for a while. Friendships do though, then it develops. I kind of like it. It’s more realistic that way. But the whole variant thing is what draws her to them. I am trying to explain this without saying too much and spoiling things for you. But I’m doing it badly. But just trust me, it’s really good!!!
Highly recommend it!! I can’t wait for the next book!! Definitely 5 stars, but deserves more!!!
This book was so much more than I expected. I knew going into this book I’d get a little bit of supernatural mixed in with some reverse harem romance, but what I got what SO MUCH BETTER!! Evelyn, Ethan, Josh, Tyler and Alec journey is full of mystery, suspense, angst, secrets, betrayal and more. I loved the way the author wrote Variant Lost with so many twist and turns that you can’t guess what’s going to happen or by whom, and that is exactly what kept me on the edge of my seat begging for more. I can’t wait for more of these amazing characters and their story in book two of this trilogy.
Highly recommended to all book lovers!
Well, this one was an interesting audiobook, we get a reverse harem with 4 sexy guys with special abilities. Tyler, Ethan, Alec, and Josh who are Variants and to use their ability they need a Vital, so yes Eve is the vital they all need. So there is more into the story than the regular reverse harem you might think. I enjoyed it, the narrators Janine Granada and Jarred Kjack did a great job, this is book one and there are 3 books.
Variant Lost was a fantasy/paranormal reverse-harem romance that had me hooked from beginning to end. The storyline was well written and detailed and the author did an excellent job with world building, introducing us to this new world of Variants and Vitals. The characters were all interesting and I loved that we got to learn so much about them in this story. In addition to the main characters, we were also introduced to a cast of secondary characters who provided great support and balance and helped to move the story along. The suspense/mystery element also added another aspect to the story and I was totally consumed and couldn’t stop reading. Variant Lost is a slow burn romance but the chemistry between Eve and her 4 guys was very much evident. The story will take you on a roller-coaster ride and as we go on this journey with Eve you will love fall in love with all the characters even the ones that get you angry at times. The story ends in a cliff hanger and I can’t wait for the next book to find out where the author will take us. Worthy of a 5 star status I absolutely loved this novel and would highly recommend it to all RH lovers.
Kaydence was made to write supernatural books! I was hooked right from the first paragraph. & it only kept getting better & better with each chapter! There is so much going on in this book. The secrets, the bonds, variants & humans, & so much more.
I love all of these characters, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next. I have so many questions & I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
“YES!! YES!!! YES!!!! This is the RH I’ve been waiting for!!! Lately I’ve focused mainly on RH tropes and Ethan, Josh, Alec and Tyler were the kind of guys that made me remember how much I love the RH trope though I’m still struggling with my love toward one because geez what he did was really…. seriously?! How could you do that?! Anyway it was jaw dropping and completely engaging.
Variant Lost is book one in The Evelyn Maynard Trilogy and it was quite an interesting journey. I’m not gonna give details about the ‘variants’ just let you know that… lie, pain, telekinesis, fire and some other cool abilities.
Like I said the book was amazing! It was kind of a slow burn romance which I don’t usually like to be honest. Insta love is kinda my thing but I really liked how the plot was developed specially because the story doesn’t focus only on the romance and the hot and explosive chemistry between the characters. Yes, obviously it’s one of the main points but the background story gave a much more complex plot of our four heroes and a human heroine.
BTW, Eve was a complex character. She was smart in some aspect but in others she was clueless which bothered me along the story but the plot had me and I wasn’t able to drop just because of her. I’m hoping she girl up along the trilogy because those guys specially one of them seriously needs a girl that can put him in place. I usually tend to love the tortured guys because they have THAT something that makes them more appealing but him was way too much for me.
I’m looking forward for book two. I’m ready for a more complex relations ion between them and lots of action and adventure.”
This checked all the boxes for me! HS RH is very popular but can be hugely hit or miss. This one was a HIT!
Hardship, friendship, challenges, superhero abilities. THIS CHECKS ALL THE BOXES. I relate to Eve, she’s had a tough run. It was nice to see the personalities balanced out between the boys – Ethan, Josh, Tyler and Alec – and I actually kind of like that I don’t particularly like all of them. haha
I can’t wait to continue. I love these characters and this world.
Great new reverse harem series that now I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. This is exciting and it’s entering a whole new world with magic and abilities but it also has secrets and mysteries that kept me on edge the whole time reading.
Loved it!
This is the 1st on a trilogy and what an awesome beginning this tale is. Evelyn has had a tough life and is starting over at a new school from where she was awarded a scholarship for the exclusive Bradford Hills Institute. As an orphan Evelyn is used to being alone and now, she finds herself with Ethan, Josh, Tyler, and Alec in her corner. This is a well written tale which is and emotional roller coaster, as well as intriguing, and with off the chart’s chemistry, as well as having heartbreak, which all leads to a steamy and all-consuming read. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, and I recommend for all.
Evelyn Maynard was her given name, but a life on the run meant her identity frequently changed.
Never let anyone in, and trust no one. Two rules she lived by but when she slipped up it cost her dearly.
Now she’s been invited to Bradford Hills Institute which for a girl who loves research and science in general is a dream come true.
Just one little blood test to see where she belongs. Is she a mere human or is she a Varient ?
I went in completely blind with this book and I was hit thick and fast with both a completely unknown world and the possibility of an unseen life threatening danger.
I felt quiet emotional with regards to how Evelyn had been forced to live. No friends, no boyfriends always the loner.
She’s a very unique and intelligent girl though. She’s constantly desperate for more information and absorbs facts and figures like a sponge does water.
I admired her strength and acceptance of all that surrounded her, and I loved that she’s quite the vixen too underneath her good girl exterior.
This book had me completely and utterly gripped, and was almost impossible to walk away from.
It warmed my heart watching her come out of her shell and truly find herself.
Her journey was full of amazing strong personalities, and each has left a lasting impression.
I can’t wait to dive into book two of this amazing series!
Variant Lost is a a slow-burn reverse harem romance that sucked me in from the beginning. Eve is a great character, smart yet naive at times. Raised on the run, she has a lot of maturity in some aspects but she’s been kind of emotionally crippled. She doesn’t really know how to do relationships (romantic or friendly) and that shows up in several scenes where she completely misreads situations. I liked all the guys, and their developing relationships with Eve. I even love Alec, because you always need that prickly sort to liven things up. Alec definitely brings the tension. I really enjoyed the fact that Eve got her own gang of friends. I feel that too often in RH stories, the heroine has either one solid friend or not really any because her harem functions as her friends. So I was really pleased that Eve picked up several.
Variant Lost is well written and flows well, and sucks you in with its intriguing sci-fi premise. Great start to a series.
This was an amazing read. Variant Lost, The Evelyn Maynard Series introduces the reader to an intricate world filled with complex characters and a plethora of intrigue and mystery. This fast paced book is action packed and difficult to put down. I was captivated from the first page. I highly recommend this paranormal, reverse harem story. I am excited to read the next installment.
I was given the chance to read this and I went into it fairly blind and I’m glad I did! soon as I started I was completely hooked and didn’t want to put it down until I had finished it.
This was a well written story which was fast paced and kept your attention 100% throughout. My emotions were all over the place with this one. My heart went from breaking for Eve, to be happy she had found her tribe, to serious steam, to heart breaking again but it was brilliantly done. The connection between the characters is off the charts hot and this is just were they are starting to build their relationships and no sex is involved so when their relationship’s start getting physical I can see it exploding.
Eve has been though so much, she has lost everything but is now starting this new life at a new school. She went from being an orphan to having 4 guys in her corner, Ethan, Tyler, Alec and Josh, and some great mates in Dot, Charlie, Zara and Beth.
The way this book ended on a cliffhanger made me seriously want more and considering I am late to the party the rest of the trilogy is already out so I don’t have to wait.
This was my first Kaydence Snow’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in The Evelyn Maynard Trilogy, an amazing paranormal RH romance. The cover is beautiful! Wow! I loved it! The story is set in The Bradford Hills Institute, an Institute for Variants. Evelyn, Ethan, Josh, Tyler, and Alec are great and intriguing characters. The story is told with Evelyn POV. The storyline is original, captivating, and intriguing. The world building is fantastic and well done. Janine Granda and Jarred Kjack are two new narrators to me. They both have a great voice, very pleasant to listen to. They did an outstanding job with the narration. I enjoyed it, and I HIGHLY recommend it. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Vital Found.
I’m pretty new to the rh scene and like many others I’m now hooked!!!
Kaydence takes us on a fantastic journey of grief, acceptance and belonging and I loved every minute of it ,this is a book full of drama, magic and fire with a captivating storyline and characters you will love ok maybe Alec will take a little more time to love haha but he intrigues me there are enough twists, turns and revelations to keep you gripped to every page.
This book is setting the scene and building the characters relationships it has a wonderful evolving storyline with an explosive ending that gives all the promise of a fantastic series i can’t wait to get stuck into book 2
Oh Wow!
So freaking awesome!
I didn’t know what to expect from this book. It’s my first read from Kaydence Snow.
This book was wonderful. I was hooked and so very interested in the story. Eve’s life wasn’t easy, she’s been through the wringer for sure. She’s grieving and alone and unsure about life around her.
Then she receives a scholarship for Bradford Hills Institute and everything changes. Her world opens up, and she’s finding out more about herself, about her life. There’s so many secrets to uncover.
Of course there’s Ethan, Josh, Tyler and ugh Alec (insert eyeroll). Lol. The guys, well some of them are so supportive and kind and gentle. The connection/pull between them all is crazy.
There’s secrets, confessions, Variant abilities and more. This world is dangerous and with her guys by her side, it’s about to get more intense but oh so interesting. Starting book 2 asap. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
4.25*
After reading two of this authors other books this years, I jumped at the chance to read my first PNR RH book. I knew this author wouldn’t do me dirty. AND I WAS RIGHT.
I have read RH books before, but not from the paranormal romance genre. This was a good place to start, I feel. Everything about this hit right for me. The setting, the world, the abilities and the MOST of the characters. Eve/Evie/ Evelyn is a rare female main character, although not from this author, I LOVE her. There’s still a whole lot further this can go and I’m excited.
I was given a complimentary copy of this from Wildfire Marketing on behalf of the author and I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.
