This book was powerful and heart wrenching in numerous ways. It also had non stop action and had me sitting on the edge of my seat so many times. I could hardly read fast enough, I was so anxious to find out what was going to happen next. I practically devoured this book! It covered a difficult subject that tugged at my heartstrings right from the beginning to end. Both Julio and Meg had hearts of gold and were what all heroes should be made of! I had to stop and wipe tears frequently while reading this story. Some of it was so heart wrenching I had to stop to compose myself. This whole series has certainly been an emotional one and one I definitely highly recommend. Thank you Ms Winters for another amazing story…please keep them coming!
Irish Winters never fails to entertain. This story grabbed me from the start. Full of emotion, mystery and suspense. I couldn’t put it down.
I was given an advanced reader copy and I voluntarily leave this review.
Wow, what a emotional story. I really enjoyed this book. It had everything I wanted.
I loved Julio and Meg together, they may of met through excruciating circumstances but they found love. They help each other get through everything.
I really felt for Julio and Meg past.
The intensity! I knew going in that I was going to get an all-encompassing suspense story. I just didn’t expect to be bowled over by the emotional intensity. From the moment I started reading, I knew Julio’s pain. Part of his history had been in a previous story but the feelings were right at the start of this book. And Meg’s plight captivated me and kept me reading. I couldn’t put it down once I got to Meg just a few pages from the start. There was so much strength of character, suspense, plots, and emotions. Definitely worth a one-click!

Julio & Meg
This is an amazing, touching story filled with action, steam, and wonderful characters.
Julio is in a really bad place when his boss, a senator heading a secret team of black ops who do ANYTHING within or not the law to protect our country, contacts him to rescue some orphans and an aid worker in Brazille. He can’t say no and leaves to meet Meg and the small band of orphans.
The group is filled with brave little ones including a tiny boy barely alive. The trials of the group are tremendous. Action, bravery, strength, and loyalty.
Meg is recovering from a stroke rarely suffered by someone so young, Even with her limited physical situation she proves to be the strongest woman Julio has ever met,
They are a pair made for each other. Will they live to find out if a future is possible? This story is emotional for both the couple and the reader. The story is filled with action, steam, and characters to love and those to hate.
DON’T MISS THIS ONE!.
To me, Irish Winters is the Queen of military romance/suspense. With her descriptions of the Amazon jungle, weapons, ammo, aircraft , and life on shipboard you feel like your right there in the middle of the action. The plot is exciting and slowly reveals clues, but the ending has a twist that will leave you gasping in surprise, and loving every second of it. The romance is heartwarming and so believable. She does a fantastic job of balancing the romance and mystery. You will find yourself reading non-stop.
Meg, a foreign aid worker in Brazil, is recovering from stroke and a recent divorce from a mentally abusive husband. Her work has taken her to an orphanage deep in the jungle, near the hideout of Oz, a dangerous and evil man and his band of guerillas. She is helping the children escape his atrocities.
Julio, grieving and depressed after his wife’s suicide and death of their son, agrees to take one last job as part of the SOB team, That job is to eliminate Oz at his Jungle hideout. It’s there he comes across Meg and her ragged group of orphans.
Tensions run high as Meg and Julio confront Russian mafia, a group of female Russian mercenaries, both after a nuclear warhead, spies and double agents. Despite it all, the love between Meg and Julio and their love and concern for the orphans, remains strong. This is a story that you don’t want to miss.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Throughout the SOB series we have met and fallen a little in love with the unofficial 4th Sin Brother, always hoping that Julio would have a HEA as his brothers have had. Well, that wait has ended and Irish has given us ‘Vaquero’, Julio and Meg’s story.
Because Irish is such a fantastic researcher and descriptive writer, we find ourselves completely immersed in the jungles of Brazil right along Julio and Meg as they not only fight the demons on earth, but more importantly, those residing within themselves.
‘Vaquero’ brings out all the feels as it is a story of self-reflection, honor, love and most of all, redemption. We are left depleted yet delighted and wanting more. We meet some friends from the past and are introduced to some new we hope to become more acquainted with, sooner than later. (Fingers crossed!)
All-in-all, Irish has outdone herself and ‘Vaquero’ is a definite must read!
I didn’t think Irish Winters could top herself, but she did!!! I was captured right from the beginning. So many emotions pulled at me, making it so I couldn’t put the book down.
The deep, dark hurt that fills Julio Juarez caused my heart to cry. This big, strong, alpha-male believes that “familia” is everything, yet now finds himself alone, no “familia”. He is going through the motions as another dark op lands in his lap from Senator McQueen; he is after the notorious “OZ”. Oz is the brother of the man who caused his late wife and son to suffer. This is Julio’s chance for justice. Or is it?
Starting out on his journey, Julio runs across the fearless Meg Duncan who is ex-Army and a stroke victim. She and her new little family, of motherless-children, are running from Oz when she encounters Julio. And what an encounter! Who would have thought one little kiss would turn two lonely lives upside down? The emotions were red hot right from the start. As Meg and Julio “get to know each other”, the scenes heat up causing smiles and tears.
The journey for Meg and Julio, and the motherless-children, is a one of hope and acceptance. This book is a MUST read and five stars is definitely not enough.
