James, Viscount Tidworth fancies himself in love with the beautiful Belinda, but through a series of events finds that he is too late in asking for her hand and loses her. Emma comes from a noble family who is down on their luck and in fear of losing their family home goes to work undercover as a governess. Emma has been disillusioned about love. James is heartbroken. When they are thrust together it starts them out on an entirely new journey, one of which might just give them what they truly deserve.
This is a very entertaining story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The hero and heroine are colorful and interesting, and the sub-characters are equally interesting and entertaining. It is an enemies to friends love story that will capture your heart. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Miss Emma d’Ibert is on her way to work as a governess. Her family are in financial trouble so working is all she can do to help.
When her transport colides with someone her little bit of medical knowlage is needed. Not that the other person appreciates it.
James Markham , Viscount Tidworth is in a big hurry to arrive at his destination before someone beats him to it. The last thing he needs is some busybody telling him what to do.
This is an unusual story, with delightful characters. A mischief maker is at work. Our heroine has been misled by a handsome man before, so doesn’t trust easily. Lots of fun and a sweet romance. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Enjoyed the story and the writing style.
Vanquishing the Viscount by Elizabeth Keysian is book Three in The Wayward in Wessex series. This is the story of Emma Hibbert and James, Viscount Tidworth. I have read the other books in this series (and loved them!) but feel this is easily a standalone book.
Emma’s noble family have fallen on hard times and she has chosen to take a job as a governess to help out. But along the way she ends up saving James who is anything but grateful. James was headed to propose to a women but due to the delay he missed his chance with her and she engaged to someone else. James fully hold Emma as the responsible party for why he isn’t now engaged to his lady love. James and Emma meet up again where Emma has taken a job as a governess and they have more words of upset to each other. Later Emma is called back home where she learns things have gotten worse and of course Jame turns up again.
This was a slow burn to great romance story. I always know I will enjoy a book by Ms. Keysian so I was excited to see this one for sure!
Emma Hibbert’s family is heavily in debt so she’s on her way to become a governess when a sinfully handsome stranger tumbles from his horse & needs help. She soon realizes she should have left him in the mud where she found him. Viscount JamesTidworth is anything but grateful for being rescued after a tumble from his horse. His pretty saviour may be well meaning, but forcing him to delay his journey completely wrecks his engagement plans. Then they meet again & although attracted to each other always seem to end up arguing.
Another very enjoyable read from the author, the characters are very well fleshed & the story flows so very well. I particularly like the attention to detail, not only are sheep & pigs mentioned but the actual breeds & I felt that I was part of the tour of Bath, it was so real & accurate. James & Emma were perfect for each other but it took a while for them each to realise, however the road to their HEA was highly entertaining. I look forward to more well written, entertaining books from the author, I hope George & Jemima have the completion to their story.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Lord James Tidworth is on his way, in a hurry, to propose to his love Belinda. Bam he falls from his horse during a storm and Emma Hibbert helps him from his concussion. She makes him stay at an inn and those two extra hours cost him his engagement….Yes his “beloved” is now engaged to someone else. He is furious and blames Emma. He throws himself into his plan to find a suitable “Hospital/home” for veterans. Knowing his brother would still be alive if there was one.
Emma is hiding her true identity to seek employment as a governess. Her “noble” family is in financial trouble and this income will keep help pay the debts. Only her employers oldest son is friends with James.
While at his friend’s Party James sees Emma and would like to strangle her but they are in room where Charles (his friend) and Charles’ father step in and have an argument. James and Emma hide but overhear how big a rake (of servant girls) Charles is. Sure enough Charles starts to flirt with Emma. Emma having no interest in Charles can’t explain her feeling for James…Problems arise at home and Emma returns home suddenly. The family must sell their home.
Well guess who shows up to buy it. James and Emma bond together but things from the past interfere. Can the two work through everything….and I mean everything. Just when you think the two are content and happy some twist comes along. Great fun and wonderful story!!! Could not put the book down…
I received an Arc for an Honest review!
Vanquishing The Viscount by Elizabeth Keysian is a fabulous historical romance. Ms. Keysian has once again impressed me with her storytelling abilities with this well-written book. Emma’s family fell on hard times so she took a governess position under a different name. James was rushing and crashed his horse into the cart taking Emma to her new job. Their story is loaded with drama, action and bits of humor and spice. This is a clean read, appropriate for any age. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Elizabeth Keysian. Vanquishing The Viscount is book 3 of the Wayward in Wessex Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
