The Dark Protectors are Back! Vampire Ronan Kayrs wasn’t supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn’t supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn’t supposed to finally touch the woman who’s haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, … grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.
Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist . . . they’re hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy—that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

I know what you’re thinking… How in the heck can Ronan Kayrs be the Vampire King when Dage Kayrs (CLAIMED, Book 2) is the King of the Realm??? My first thought was there’s going to be a Terminator-like timeline or something from Back to the Future. Then I thought there might be a time jump in the story where the next King is Ronan but then I thought: Who the hell is Ronan? Where does he fit into the Dark Protectors world? Thankfully all the answers to our questions are answered pretty quickly so we don’t spend most of our time confused! I love the way Rebecca Zanetti’s mind works!
VAMPIRE’S FAITH continues our journey into the heart of the Dark Protectors world where there’s always a war to fight, a wrong to right and where the Realm can’t get a break from those damn Kurjans! It’s also where we are introduced to new characters, exciting plots twists, dangerous secrets and villains deadlier than you can imagine! What more can you ask for?
There was one hiccup in the story for me though. I was not a fan of the heroine Grace. For a doctor, she was pretty stupid. Stupid choices, trust issues and some other stuff that just irritated the heck out of me, but it wasn’t enough to spoil an otherwise amazing story!
VAMPIRE’S FAITH is fast-paced, exciting, engaging and will leave you desperate for more!
***I voluntarily read a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
He always had Faith he’d meet her
Ronan awakes to a new time and while everything around him is glaringly different, he recognises the woman next to him as his mate. Faith is a doctor and helps patients that are in comas, in an effort to find out how to help her sister Grace. When a man awakens from a coma, he starts spouting what she believes is rubbish, not realising what he is actually saying is the truth
Suffice to say, caveman Ronan and modern day Faith have a rude awakening ahead as matters keep getting more complex as their time together increases. Secrets and surprises galore that will keep you on your toes as much as Faith does the same to Ronan
Great story and some new characters which I always love It took me a while to realise that the Benny that was in the book I’d met before with the Reese brothers….wanted to smack myself for having such a blonde moment
I will admit to being Rebecca Zanetti fangirl. I looove me some of the Dark Protector series. I could barely wait for Marked (Janie and Zane’s story). Man, did that one do it for me.
Anyway, I was excited about the continuation of the series – now we get to see the original secondary characters and their stories. A good read as was to be expected from Zanetti.
I took a bit to understand how this book ties in with the series. I didn’t get how Ronan was related to the others. Finding out he was millenia old was interesting. His wonder at how things had advanced was funny and charming. He had to overcome his ‘chauvenistic’ ways to fit in with the modern times and Faith, the modern doctor.
A lot of the book seemed to focus more on the explanation of the next set up of the series. Faith and Ronan’s story is good – they have to fight through their trust issues and the typical human woman’s inability to just go with the ‘insta-love’ attraction of the true mate.
Finished this one with a sense of satisfaction but not a ‘holy crap that was amazing’ feeling. Looking more forward to Demon’s Mercy (Logan’s story).
The title of Vampire’s Faith should be “Oh my god, how fucking stupid can she be?” I swear every single chapter that thought went through my head at the very least once. Faith has to be one of the most idiotic, stupid, selfish, characters ever written. Just when you think she can’t possible do anything more moronic, BOOM! She does something else so incredibly stupid. There were parts where I was rooting for the bad guys to just kill her this time. Because she made the entire book intolerable, it was not only impossible to enjoy it, but I would dread reading it. It took me days to read Vampire’s Faith when every other book I have read in this series took me a day, day and a half at most. Because I found Faith so utterly obnoxious, I didn’t care much for Ronan either. While yes he would get pissed at her, it just wasn’t enough. I know the theme of these books are uncooperative females who don’t like to be told what to do, but at least the other characters only really put themselves in danger. Her punishment for these actions? Orgasms. Yeah because that’ll teach her. She experienced absolutely no character growth, at all, she was just as stupid in the first chapter as she was in the last. It was honestly exhausting.
The actual plot seemed interesting, but not enough to overshadow Faith. I really hope the next book has a female that I don’t wish that she gets kidnaped and killed by Kurjans.
I love reading this author. I will buy whatever she is selling, because Rebecca never fails to deliver. When I get to the end, I just want more. Keep them coming Rebecca!
Rebecca Zanetti can’t do any wrong, another great read with amazing characters and story. It was great to read, funny, full of action, hot sizzling scenes, family moments, and anticipation with suspense. I loved how you didn’t know who was really a bad guy, who was telling the truth, who to trust. Both Ronan and Faith great developed how they met and Ronan’s discovering of the modern world was sooo funny. Their chemistry hot, and mating even hotter. It was really intense, enjoyable read from first to the last page.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.
Zanetti’s books are always awesome and hard to put down.
Ronan Kayrs wakes from a coma to find his mate and a new world. He is one of the Seven, who was holding a prison dimension together. Now that he is free from the dimension time is running out until they all break and an invencible Cyst fighter is freed. Ronan has a lot to learn about this new world and his new mate, in between fighting the Cyst.
The Dark Protector series is back with new enemies and new fighters. Ronan Kayrs has been holding the prison dimension for a thousand years with his brothers. So much has changed with the world and with the Realm. Ronan was an interesting character and definitely a caveman. I didn’t really like him at first but he got better as the story progressed. Faith is a dedicated doctor who just wants to heal her sister. I liked her and how she stood up to Ronan all the time. He needs someone that will stand up to him and keep him from getting a big head.
The Cysts are quite interesting because they are part of the Kurjans but are a secret from everyone. The same with the Seven. I am really interested in seeing where this new storyline will go and how Hope will play a part of bringing the enemies down.
Vampire’s Faith is the eighth book in the Dark Protectors series, but is really the first book in it’s own series, also set in the Dark Protectors world. Ronan Kayrs was sacrificed to live in an alternate dimension that was supposed to last for an eternity. His sacrifice was part of a key that would hold the ultimate enemy. When Ronan wakes in a hospital, he realizes his part of the containment has collapsed, and that evil is closer to being released back into this world. However, there is a bright side for Ronan. When he awakes he also sets sight on the woman he has been dreaming of for centuries, his mate Dr. Faith Cooper. The Dark Protectors series is my favorite of Rebecca Zanetti’s. It uses the time honored theme of good vs evil, but with a paranormal twist. Vampire’s Faith adds another twist in that Ronan is a King from centuries ago. His brothers descendants are the current time Kayrs family who rules their vampire nation and are the heroes of the earlier books in this series. A clever way to tie the stories together and keep this thrilling series alive. I had a really easy time enjoying Ronan. When he entered the story he was kind of goofy, after all he was dropped into current technology, clothing, etc. He was charming and self deprecating as he wooed his mate. As the story moved forward, he became more demanding and reverted to the “I am male therefore you should listen to me” ways of the past. Luckily Faith was not going along with his program. It made for a tension filled love story where both of their eyes were being opened to unusual things and they had to rely on each other to be their anchor in an unfamiliar world. The highlight was that the attraction between the two was sizzling and their passion jumped off the pages.
Where I felt the story slow down was when the Kurjans and Cyst were bigger players in a scene. I guess I needed a little more back story for this hidden sect that showed up all of a sudden as the big evil was closer to being released. I’m sure their part in this story will get fleshed out a little more in the next novel, which looks to be a good one. The story set up nicely at the end of this book to tantalize the reader.
If you love paranormal romances this series is great. You can start with book #8 and jump right in, but to get a better picture of this world start at the beginning with Fated. It’s one of my favorites in the series. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review and it was honest.
This was definitely one of my fave DP Stories. I really liked the dynamics and chemistry between Ronan and Faith. I also like the secrecy of the Seven too. I loved that Dage THE KING (lol) doesn’t already know everything about them.
I like reading more about Garrett and Logan. Definitely looking forward to the next story about Logan. The sneak peek seems great although Logan seems toooooooo young to find his mate. Good grief!!! He’s in his 20’s, he should have at least another 100yrs before he settles down with a mate.
I checked out this book from my library, and it took me 2 days to read I could not put it down. I love the plot to the dark protectors series and continuing with the characters I love and Introducing more to love. Ever since I picked up the first book in the series I have never been disappointed and am exciting for the next book.
A great read that connects with her earlier books.
I’m sorry to say I have to agree with the detractors here. Faith, the “heroine” was singly the most annoying character I’ve ever read in one of Ms. Zanetti’s books. I love both her Dark Protectors and Realm Enforcers books but this one either should have been written with a different focus or eased up on Faith’s ridiculous stubborn behavior. How many times can an intelligent woman, a neurologist no less, be faced with fangs, changing eyes, people burning to ash, a man woken from a 7 year coma in perfect health and physique, a sister in a coma that has lasted 2 years yet hasn’t hurt her health at all, more fangs, physical speed, strength, etc etc, I could go on all day, but in the end, how many times can she see this and still insist Ronan is the one that’s crazy? That none of it’s true? Come on. I don’t care how much of a brat a woman can be, reality is reality and there’s just no arguing it yet argue she did. Often, loudly and violently. Nope, she was not a likable character and as a protagonist she fails completely.
The only saving grace in this story is it keeps us informed with what is happening with Garrett and Logan, bringing Dage in for a cameo, which ties it all together and prepares us for the next book that I understand will be about Logan. And bringing Ronan back was an interesting twist to the story, and needing to rebuild the Seven, and giving us a glimpse into little Hope’s secret world that is similar to what her mom and dad, Janie and Zane, had when they were children. So at least this story gives us a bit of a prologue to what is to come. We can see there is a story to be told going forward and many more books to be written in the Realm.
But, frankly, even though I know it’s too late now, I hope Ms. Zanetti does better with her heroines going forward. There’s a difference between portraying a strong woman who recognizes her shortcomings and is willing to ask for help, and portraying an obnoxious woman who won’t admit to any weakness at all and fights anyone who tries to help her to a point she becomes a hindrance. Please don’t give us anymore females like Faith. That there is now indelibly one is bad enough.
I’m waiting patiently for the next book in the Dark Protectors or Realm Enforcers series because I do still love this storyline, so while I have to say this one was lacking, I feel confident the next will be much better.
With Vampire’s Faith, we return to the Dark Protectors world along with Ronan Kayrs. Ronan has been in another dimension for many years. When his part of the protective wall fails, Ronan wakes in a world totally unfamiliar to him, and to his mate. Faith is a scientist, a doctor. She is having a hard time believing that Ronan is sane, let alone that he is a vampire and she is his mate. These two make a great pair. Challenge is a good word to describe their relationship.
This installment of Dark Protectors is a familiar enough that the reader glides right back into the Realm and its fight against evil. The Kurjans are still here and scheming against the vampires. We get a glimpse of familiar characters and a hint of what has been happening in the Realm. The characters are strong, determined, and protective. The story is a page-turner – exciting, intense and dangerous. Vampire’s Faith is a winner, an excellent addition to the series.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The review is my own.
Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite authors. Her Protector series is one of my favorite worlds. I caution that these are very alpha males.
I’m so glad to get back to the world of the Dark Protectors. I wasn’t sure how Roanan fit in this world but after reading this book, I have to say I love the new story ARC. Ronan was super alpha but it was cute how he was trying to fit into his new world. And, although I had a couple of what-the-heck-is-she-doing moments, I really liked Faith. I’m so ready for more.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts, opinions, and reviews are my own.
I have a confession to make. Other than a novella, I’m new to the Dark Protectors series. I’ve read quite a few of Ms. Zanetti’s books, including the Realm Enforcers. However, I really have no knowledge of what is going on in this series. But hey, it’s Rebecca Zanetti. Even jumping in mid-series, I can’t go wrong.
Mid-series? Really? It doesn’t feel like it. I feel like I am starting from the very beginning with Vampire’s Faith. Oh, haha! Love the play on words. Totally though faith was going to be a spiritual thing, not a character’s name. Faith, I like her. Smart, strong, fierce and still able to make mistakes. In other words, she may be a doctor but she’s still less than perfect. Ronan, all I can say is YUM! Protective, charming, fierce…everything you can love about a protector from the past. He’s adapting easily to the future he is now facing and there are quite a few humorous moments to go with it. Faith and Ronan together, oh my. From stubbornness to doubt to finally believing, sparks are going to be flying here. Honestly, my favorite parts about them were when things started getting hot and heavy…and then there’s a knock at the door. *Snickers*
So, like I said, I’m new to the series and did not realize that I was jumping in mid-series. That is until Garrett and Logan make their appearance. Oh wait, I know these two! I enjoyed them every time they made an appearance. That’s when things clicked for me. Dang, I really need to go back to the beginning. I need to learn more about them, all of them. The ultimate evil that Ronan was guarding, the motives of the Kurjans, Garrett and Logan, and especially about Dage.

Stars – 4.5
Dr Faith Cooper is renowned for her expertise with coma patients. Her expertise is requested for a coma patient that is not reacting the way a normal patient does. When she arrives, she believes a co-worker is playing a joke on her. The male she sees in the bed does not react or look like a regular coma patient would. What she doesn’t realize is this patient is not human and that she has bitten off more than she can chew with this case.
Ronan Kayrs is a vampire and has been dreaming of Faith for centuries. When he wakes up after being in a coma, he does not recognize this new world. He does recognize Faith as his mate however, and he will have her at any cost.
Will Faith and Ronan come together and be able to adapt to this new world each has been shown? Or will their differences and the new worlds shown to them tear them apart?
This is an all consuming and action-packed read. It is told in dual POV and had me turning the pages excitedly wondering what would happen next!
I loved Ronan’s caveman mentality. A total “Me, Tarzan, You, Jane” vibe. It was really cute.
This book was also so very funny. I laughed so hard when he had a conversation with Siri. It was priceless!
I loved the build up in their relationship. It did not feel forced or rushed.
Faith is smart, independent and so very stubborn. I loved this but her stubbornness, GAH! Sometimes it got to me.
Ronan is an alpha male ALL THE WAY. He makes no excuses for who and what he is. He is honest and up front and I loved him for it.
This is an exciting read that I enjoyed immensely. If you like an action-packed, page-turning, sizzling read than this one’s for you!

Vampire’s Faith by Rebecca Zanetti
Dark Protectors #8
Ronan has been away from the world in a bubble keeping bad guy Kurjan creep in prison when the bubble breaks and he waked to a world that is a whole lot different than it was when he went into the bubble. He has a lot of catching up to do and does so in an impressive way. His strength is not at full force but he is still a male to be reckoned with. Shortly after he wakes he realizes his neurologist and coma specialist Faith is his mate…getting her to adjust and agree takes some time, though.
This book is a romance but also gives background of how The Seven achieved their powers, what they are meant to do and who is going to join them. It sets the situation up for future books and introduces us to all of the seven except for Ronan’s brother who is in a bubble of his own. We meet some of the bad guy Kurjan and Cyst types and here mention of the “others” that exist in addition to humans.
I believe that not having read any of the previous books in this series may have been a good thing as this stands alone and seems to be the introduction to a future group of beings that will be fighting and defeating (I hope) the evil that wants to gain the upper hand.
I wonder about Faith’s sister and whether or not she will eventually wake and end up with Adare. I wonder who Benny, Ivar and Quade will end up with and also wonder about Garret and Logan and how the team will work in the future. I have to say that Faith, in spite of her education and knowledge, seemed a bit of a loose cannon doing silly things that put herself and others in danger. I know she is supposed to come across as strong and unwilling to back down but…at times I did not get her.
Did I enjoy the book? Yes
Do I want to read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Lyrical Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
This was a book I enjoyed. I have not read any of the others in this series and you don’t have to enjoy this book. Faith is a very stubborn woman, who is also very smart and I think that hinders her in some ways. Ronan is also very stubborn and also out of his time. This two butt heads a lot in this book but I think it’s good for both of them. I look forward to more books in this series and to see what happens with the Seven and the War coming up.
