The Dark Protectors are Back! Vampire Ronan Kayrs wasn’t supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn’t supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn’t supposed to finally touch the woman who’s haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, … grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.
Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist . . . they’re hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy—that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

I loved it!!
Ronan is completely out of his element and it was humorous watching him learn. And Faith?! She is funny and fiercely independent. She is not going to put up with his demands! She is also fiercely loyal to her sister, Grace.
We meet a whole new group of people. Benny and Ivar and Adare. And some Kurjans (nasty, of course!). And Logan and Garrett! And sweet, knowing Hope. And Drake and Pax…hmmmmm.
This story is loaded with action. But it’s also got its share of spark, sass, attitude, and growling alpha…vampire-demon-Highlander males. I spent my time on the edge of my seat with racing heart, holding my breath, to laughing at Ronan and Faith. Even as I write this I’m smiling.
I’m addicted to the Vampires, demons, witches, shifters and enhanced humans. The journeys I’ve been on with them is beyond compare. Vampire’s Faith does not disappoint, and I’m already looking forward to the next release of the Dark Protectors series.
I’m not a fan of long series. I like to get in and out and move on to the next group of characters. However, I fell in love with this author’s Dark Protectors a long time ago and over the last year, I fell even harder as I dove into this and the Realm series. Needless to say, when I learned there would be a new book I was ecstatic!
Faith is a neurologist whose specialty is working with coma patients. Her own history has led her down this path and now it’s leading her to a strange occurrence happening within the hospital. Ronan has spent the last thousand years in a prison to protect his people from evil. Somehow the shields have fallen and he has been released. The first thing he sees when he awakens is the woman he has dreamed of. His mate.
This is a huge possessive, protective alpha hero and a determined, I’m going to do it my way, heroine. They clash and battle but ultimately they are drawn to each other. While Faith has a hard time wrapping her scientific mind around what she is being told, she trusts what she sees with her eyes. Now she is caught up in a battle against time in order to save the Enhanced and prevent the rest of the shields from falling.
While I enjoyed this, a lot, I was a bit aggravated at Faith’s persistence that Ronan would not tell her what to do. I understood her, but it started to feel a bit childish. Despite that, I loved the chemistry between this couple. It was hot and fiery and dang but the people around them have the worse timing!
Ronan having no knowledge of the world around him was adorable and a bit quirky. It made him cute and endeared him to me early on. I did think he needed to hash things out with Faith by communicating rather than demanding, but hey, he’s a Kayrs and that’s just the way they roll.
There is a ton of action in this story and some old friends as well as new that are introduced. This story made me feel like I was sliding on a pair of well-worn and comfortable slippers as this author takes us back into the realm of vampires, dragons, witches and shifters. Not all show up here but I have no doubt we’ll be seeing them in the books that follow and I’m all over that!
Ronan is not familiar with all the changes that have taken place since he agreed to be part of the Seven and protect the world the Kurjan, Ulric. But he does recognize his mate, Faith, from his dreams. When he reveals himself to Faith, she realizes that there’s a whole world out there that she knew nothing about.
Ronan is determined to continue to protect the world from the Kurjans and to protect and claim Faith. Faith is determined to save her sister who has been in a coma for two years and to figure out her unusual attraction to Ronan.
There are fights with the Kurjans, disagreements between the potential mates, new characters, and old friends. Everything needed to keep you on the edge of your seat.
I’m so ecstatic that we get to dive back into the Dark Protectors world again. I binge read this series last year and had a blast with all the characters and the wild ride this author took us on.
While she could have just ended the series, there were so many possibilities for it to be picked back up. I love that she choose to do that…or maybe that was her plan all along. Either way, I’m very happy to see more of all my favorite characters.
In Vampire’s Faith we get Ronan and Faith’s story. I have to admit, I was racking my brain trying to remember who Ronan was even though I just read this series not long ago. I know all the Kayrs so why can’t I remember him??? Well, that’s because his identity was kept secret so don’t fret if you can’t remember him either.
I won’t give too much away here but you learn where Ronan’s been and why he’s just now coming into the story. Just know he’s 100% pure alpha these Kayr’s males are known to be. Dang! I love that caveman mentality! He had me chuckling quite a bit when Faith tries to bring him up to date to the 21st century.
Faith. Oh Faith. I love a good strong heroine in my stories but sometimes that stubbornness is a bit much. If you have read this series then you are used to that in the leading female characters. If I had to guess, I think this author does this so she can shows us how these protective males go all alpha on their butts, which I have to admit I enjoy very much.
This has so many great new characters as well as seeing a lot of the previous characters. I believe we are gearing up for Hope and Drake with plenty of possibilities in between. I can’t wait!
Dr. Faith Cooper falls down a rabbit hole when she is called to consult on a long term coma patient. Unable to believe the strong, robust patient she sees before her is truly in a coma, especially once he wakes up at her touch and starts to miraculously talk to her. Believing it to be an elaborate joke, Faith suddenly finds herself submerged in a world where vampires, witches, and demons are real and the only one capable of keeping her safe is her “coma patient,” Ronan Kayrs!
Always a sucker for a good series, I was loving the story and the characters by chapter two. Ronan was an old-school alpha male, that I feel we never truly got his whole story so the character still feels a little mysterious. Faith is smart and I was pleasantly surprised that she was sensible as well and not the cookie cutter smart but extremely dumb. By the end of the story, I was fangirling to read the books about the remaining seven.
I was beyond ecstatic to get into this one. I have read her books before with right away this one when I opened caught me good. I knew as soon as the characters came on board this one was going to eat me up. I was supposed to be reading something else for before this one but I could not resist the call no more. Aptly put titled to with the closing line sealing this one in the bag. I felt I was coming back also to a show I had missed having begun this series with the first few a while ago but having forgot about it until now. Ronan is not your average “victim” the doc comes across and when they begin to converse you will be a goner. Faith is unique with something but it does not help her with her sister which that will keep you on edge along with other elements. Anxiety will be just a few of the emotions this one will cause you haha. The heat will be slow and teasing thanks to outside forces but it will leave its “mark”. The other characters also will capture your attention with story being stellar in that it cause you to devour it in no time flat. The romance is raw and loud with it being the caliber at its finest. The fight will leave you waiting for more.
Ronan finally broke free of the prison dimension where he had been ensuring that the big bad stayed safely locked away from the world. By sacrificing themselves, he and his brother knew they were foregoing mates, family and happiness but they thought it was worth it. The one thing which kept him sane was the dreams he had of his longed for mate. But he is reeling when he realises that she is real and in danger!
Faith is a doctor and used to dealing with life and death emergencies but a handsome hottie with some crackpot notions are out of her comfort zone! She is sucked into a world that she never realised existed never mind become a part of. Her specialty is with coma patients, one of whom is her sister. But she is getting conflicting information, one faction of supernaturals claim they can save her and the other say there is only so much they can do. But her heart and her mind are now tearing her apart.
Ronan is dazed, confused and in a total mind meltdown with the modern world. He is uber gallant and over the top protective. Faith is compassionate, clever but also quite naïve herself. When you don’t know the story behind both sides, why do you immediately believe them? Well promising to help her sister obviously but still!
New foes mix with old ones and a great new story in the series.
“Even before he’d met her, he’d felt her in his soul…”
I was beyond ecstatic when I got approved from Netgalley for this book. I was finally able to let my mind wander the world along side the Dark Protectors again.
We get to meet Ronan Kayrs; tall, sexy, a little overbearing. He sacrificed his life, creating a secret society known as The Seven to protect the world. While in this dimension, he’s responsible for keeping the shield strong and passing time by dreaming of an enhanced human named Faith Cooper.
When they shield fails and Roman falls into a coma. Coming to he realizes times have definitely changed and he needs to catch up, the growth of knowledge he obtains with modern technology can be a bit comedic at times. But that goofy part of this hunk of a man is what drawls you in.
Faith Cooper, top coma specialist. She’s an amazing doctor and the back bone to her sister the only family she has left. She’s a bit head strong and relies on science as a source to find answers,
And let me tell you, when she learns the truth about the other beings that stalk this earth. Her world is a shaken up a bit.
The sexy chemistry and stubbornness between the two characters keeps things hot hot HOT! You’ll love this book and its characters. Discovering the secrets, page after page keeps you on the edge of your seat. Hang on tight, because your plowing full steam ahead.
Minutes after I finished the book I was already experiencing withdrawals and I need more! More of these sexy alpha males, more of the stubborn headstrong women. Keep them coming Rebecca, want more!
It felt IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE to get back into the Dark Protector World, only now it feels even more intense, wild, and yet a hundred percent fresh and shockingly new!
One of the things I love best about Rebecca Zanetti’s books is the way the characters are portrayed. The heroes are pure alpha, utterly protective, caring and will show their women who lays down the law. Not in a cruel mean way, but in a sizzling-freaking-HOT way that not only have the heroines begging but us readers too! And lets not forget about these heroines. Oh so smart, soft hearted, strong, stubborn and they sure can match the heroes in passion, that is for sure!
Vampire’s Faith brings us a true warrior from old. He is CENTURIES old, and when he comes to in the modern world the only thing that makes sense to him is Faith. And Faith certainly didn’t expect to be drawn to such a bold warrior. I was ill prepared for how much this book would pull me in. I mean I knew it was going to be good, but this is a WHOLE NEW WORLD kind of good. Much more bold with true warriors that are way more powerful than you could of ever guessed. This story has a boat load of twists, surprises, mind boggling action and pantie melting passion that left me so H-O-T, I am surprised my kindle didn’t have scorch marks on it! I am now BEGGING Miss Zanetti once again, for MORE in this darker, hypnotizing new Dark Protector world!
Vampire’s Faith gets a MIND BENDINGLY THRILLING FIVE BRIGHT SHOOTING STARS!
Vampire’s Faith is the eighth book in the paranormal/fantasy romance series Dark Protectors. This series should be read in order to follow the events that have happened and to understand the roles that everyone plays.
Overall, I really like this series and have enjoyed the storylines. I also like the characters and the fact that they are all woven together so I know who everyone is. However, the back and forth by Faith was exhausting! This push and pull behavior by the female lead seems to be a pattern in some of these books, and I’ve found it takes away from the story and makes it less enjoyable. To be clear, it was all Faith causing the problems. Ronan made his intentions crystal clear and he never wavered once. Instead of Faith coming across as a determined and confident woman, she seems more like a bitch who makes reckless decisions because she didn’t want to believe someone could know better than herself. More than once, their whole group is put in danger because of her actions. When Ronan gets angry, Faith gets an attitude not believing he could possibly be mad at her even though she realizes that what she did was stupid. She never even apologized for what she caused. Talk about being gullible! How could she continually believe the wrong person? Ugh!
Things worked out in the end, and I plan on continuing with the series to see what happens next. While I’m not Faith’s biggest fan, I do like Garrett, Logan, Adare, Benny and Ivar, and I’m looking forward to reading their stories.
3.5 Stars
This was one of the most unexpected squee-inducing surprises of the year. I had no idea the Dark Protectors series was going to get a second season and keep going with a new series arc. I thought the grand finale book was great when it came in book seven, but a chance to delve back into this fantastic paranormal romance world was not one I could miss.
Vampire’s Faith is, as I said earlier, a whole new series arc. It introduces new characters, particularly Ronan Kayrs and the concept of The Seven. I suppose a person could jump in if they don’t mind missing all the back story especially when familiar faces show up, but I thought it worked best coming on the heels of the others. It is a new story arc and new names are brought out so… maybe.
Ronan is great-uncle to the Kayrs in the first part of the series and he’s been off with his brothers fighting evil in another realm by holding a big baddie in a prison of sorts in this other dimension. But, something happens, the Seven have lost members, and he wakes up back on earth and several centuries into the future. This is always a fun concept for me because then I get to see someone have to discover the modern world. Ronan was a great hero and an alpha to the core, but getting used to a new day and age had him on his off foot for a while. He has a job to do now that the prison in the other dimension is down and he’s ready to do it. He wakes up to find his dream woman mate is right there in all her skeptical and dismissive glory, but Ronan is up to the task of breaking down Faith’s barriers because she’s his.
That brings me to Faith. Erm, yes… heroines, particularly ones who ironically have no faith even if her name is Faith and like to pull a stubborn-stupid now and then to keep things dangerous and exciting for everyone, are something of a struggle. Faith has a gift with coma patients and her heart is in learning all she can because her beloved sister is in a coma. She will do anything to save her sister- and that’s where all that stubborn-stupid comes in. She is pretty skeptical about Vampires and the whole paranormal world out there until denial becomes ridiculous in the face of the deadly danger they encounter.
I liked Roman and Faith as a couple once she stopped resisting so hard and things get pretty hot and bothered with this pair. But, I think I preferred the action moments more so than the romance. It was good, but not riveting. I felt the stronger part of the story was all the pieces rather one element over another if that makes sense.
Before I started reading, I did have that moment when I wondered if these could be just as engaging and action-packed with a worthy enemy and tense situation as the earlier stories. No worries, it kept me clicking pages fast and getting right into it. I was all in especially when a few crossover characters from earlier books like Janie’s brother, Garrett. I like what is sizing up with this group of Seven and the threat they have to deal with. That said, I’m in a wait and see about the dreamwalking stuff in one of the secondary plot threads with girl encountering the bad boy in her dream state and everyone saying he’s bad, but she doesn’t think so. I don’t want to see a carbon-copy of Janie and Zane’s story. Hopefully, it will have its own twist when it comes out.
So, excitement continues to reign as I now look forward to the next installment in this revitalized and new direction for the Dark Protectors. Paranormal Romance lovers who like good action and strong-willed heroes, here you go.
Any book in this series is engaging
It’s been a little over a year since I finished Marked, the book that was the end of this series. Well, obviously it wasn’t. But I’m sure when it was originally published all of the fans, maybe even the author, thought it would be. There were some novellas (Teased, Tricked, Tangled, Talen) and an off-shoot series (Realm Enforcers) between Marked and this story. I wasn’t ready to give the world these characters live in up, so I’m more than happy the author decided to continue this series.
Rebecca Zanetti always writes wonderful chemistry, and this story is no exception. At first, I thought Ronan would be the hard sell for me and that I’d click with Faith quickly. While I did like Faith right away, she wore on me after a bit. She had a tendency to tick me off with her doubting and hemming and hawing. While Ronan said and did some boneheaded things, I could understand why since he was from a time so long ago. Of course, he needed time to adjust to the way the world now works as opposed to the world of his time. Plus, it was a lot of fun to to watch Ronan adjust and read some of the antiquated and outlandish thoughts that popped out of his mouth. As for Faith, it doesn’t help that I’m one of those that is all about “for the good of all”. And the way Faith dealt with certain issues with her sister just made her out to be quite selfish.
Now, I couldn’t totally blame Faith for all of the things she did along the way. Some were stupid moves that she KNEW were dumb before she did them. But others…as a human who believes in science, I totally get it. That’s where my problem with the rest of the cast of characters comes in. I understand that Ronan and his “brothers” have a huge responsibility to keep certain things secret. That doesn’t explain why nobody told Faith about Emma, the Queen of the Realm. Emma, who in the book Claimed had her own issues with believing. Emma, the scientist and brilliant human who is constantly looking at way for immortal science to help mortals. Maybe they could have let her even meet Emma via video chat and said she was someone else’s mate. It really bothered me and seemed like a plot hole to me. Almost like I’m supposed to forget all the previous books and characters that aren’t specifically in this book.
None of the above diminishes my thirst for more in this series. I have learned to trust this author even when things didn’t seem to make sense. I’ve long adored Logan and Garrett so it excites me that it seems they’ll play heavily in these next stories. And, of course, the mirroring of Janie’s story with her daughter in this story is wonderful and intriguing. So while there were issues that bothered me in this story, there was a lot of chemistry, action, and fascinating story to keep the rating on the higher end.
Amazing characters and couldn’t put it down. Excellent story
Love her books.
Love the Dark Protectors series. I’ve read the original series over and over again. I absolutely LOVE those Kayrs brothers, strong, dominant alphas… all of them. Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favourite authors,
I cannot tell you how excited I was to discover Rebecca Zanetti’s return to the Dark Protector series. Though she kept one toe in the pool with her Realm Enforcers spinoff, those books never quite had the same magic for me as the original series. This one absolutely does. It completely re-captured the magic of those early books and I felt like I never left.
I knew from the blurb that the hero would be a Karys, but what I didn’t know was how he would fit in with the family I knew and loved from the previous books. Would this be a prequel? Were we jumping forward in time? I knew I had never heard of a character named Ronan before. Turns out, it’s the best scenario of all. This book pics up about seven years after the last Dark Protectors book. Ronan is an ancestor of Dage– long dead to most of the world, his existence almost erased.
Ronan has been hanging out in another dimension for the past several hundred years. He was there to prevent the escape of a super powerful bad guy that could not be killed. He is one of the Seven tasked to this mission. Men who formed a bond of blood, bone, and brotherhood to protect the world. Only now, he has been kicked back to his home world and fears it is only a matter of time before his prisoner comes back as well.
Faith is the doctor who is destined to be his mate. Her special gift is that she can talk to people who are in a coma. You would think that would be more useful with her sister Grace actually in a coma, but it seems Faith can talk to everyone except for her. Anyway, Grace is the only family that Faith has and it is her life’s mission to take care of her sister. I get that, I really do, but some of the things Faith does in order to reach that goal pushed her to the boundaries of Too Stupid To Live. This woman is a scientist. She is supposed to be smart. But she makes some really dumb decisions by leading with her heart. Like, really dumb.
The story follows Ronan as he tries to rebuild his band of brothers while keeping Faith safe from the current Kurjans who are trying to get to her. Ronan absorbs information, technology, and modern culture at a thousand times the speed of light, which strains credibility even in a world with demons, vampires, witches and God knows what else. But despite that and my beef with Faith’s questionable decisions, I ate this book up with a spoon. Yes, Ronan skirts the line a little with my ability to tolerate alpha heroes who spank their heroine to teach them a lesson. But by and large, he such a good leading man. He tries to be patient. He protects her. He tries to protect her sister. And goodness knows, the man has sacrificed so much for the good of the world.
Garrett and Logan are here and I believe they are going to play a big part in the series moving forward. But so is Janie’s daughter, Hope. She is only a child, but she is meeting a Kurjan boy in a dream world just like her parents did. Some people might take issue with how familiar this may feel, but I adored it. I want to see that magic happen all over again. And I have no doubt that Zanetti will deliver it.
Like I said, reading this book brought me right back into the fold of a series I was so sad to lose. And it is just the right blend of fresh and familiar. I know these books are a little pricey, but they are totally worth it. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next. I hope every single member of the seven has his own installment. Fingers crossed.
Rating: B+
This is a good book and a great addition to the series. I really like how this author writes, so I read them all.
Love this series and spin offs
