This book was sooo good! It’s dark and intense, and the twists and turns to keep you hooked to every single page!
“Burn me. Cleanse me. Kill me…”
Violet has been tricked into going to Angel World. After growing up in the human world abandoned and alone, she’s finally found her mother, who just happens to be the Queen of Angels. But being princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Violet must find out who and what she really wants to be before all is lost.
“And now it was time to fly. Away from perfection. Above it. Because I was the rebel princess.”
Johns’ world building is clearly well thought out and extremely inventive. The main characters I’ve grown to love and hate from the first installment are back with a new cast. The lies and treachery keep you guessing throughout.
I’ve found, after reading all, or most of Johns’ work, her writing style at first was hard to put into words except extraordinary. But I’ve finally found a way to sort of describe it. Yes there’s some British slang that’s really fun as an American to see the cultural differences. She also has a uniqueness that far surpasses Anne Rice because I find it to be poetic. She doesn’t just spell it out for you. You have to interpret what’s being said with the context of what’s happening in the story. It’s so very impressive! I am left thinking about her tales long after I’ve finished reading them. Award winning material here folks! Highly recommended!
Violet goes to the angels and learns how wrong things are in their world. Despite everything she learns and every mistake she makes – and there are a lot of them- she stays true to her chosen family and refuses to play by the rules and do what is expected of her. She is refreshingly imperfect, but determined to save her friends and as many others as possible despite her flaws.
