The books should be read in order.

White Pawn is the first installment of the Vampire Court series while Black Pawn is the second installment! And guess what? They BOTH released April 2nd! These aren’t full length novels, but instead are each more of a novella length. What I love about that is the next release, coming in May, is both White Rook and Black Rook – GUYS. That’s FOUR books in 2 months. Holy freaking amazing right? It helps that these are REALLY good too!
White Pawn and Black Pawn are told from separate POV’s – White Pawn follows Bianca and Black Pawn follows Nyro. Bianca and Nyro cross paths in each story, but each book is focused on the main character and things that are happening just to them, but they are still linked, unknown to each other.
The world building here in this story is something I’ve come to expect and love from Ingrid Seymour. I absolutely love how real she makes it for me. It doesn’t feel..fake. It feels like this world that she’s created, is out there somewhere unknown to us all. Somewhere, hidden from us, these characters are truly living their lives; full of suffering, frustration and under the thumbs of horrific leaders. Don’t try and tell me that Acedrex isn’t a real world somewhere. I’ll fight you
When we first meet Bianca, she is clearly a Lady and is all prim and proper. But she has a stubborn streak in her. She notices Nyro in the market and instead of letting things go and being that quiet proper Lady, she does the opposite haha. You get a look at the fire inside her right in the beginning; she’s a determined fighter. And after horrific events, she’s not going to just walk away from her life of luxury, she is quite literally going to RUN from it. You’ll see though what I’m talking about when you read it for yourself
I highly recommend you guys picking both of these up and giving them a read because I think you’ll all enjoy them!
Makes your heart stop. The only reason I gave it four stars, is I thought it a little slow in the first few chapters. They live in a world of a chess board with a white queen and a black king who are vampires. Bianca has only know life as a socialite, but then one day her life falls apart with truths and death. How is she going to survive? Who can she trust, no one? She wants to get back at the King, but she would have to join and become one of the pawns? Can she do it? Can she protect who she really is? I received a free copy for my honest review.
I read the WHOLE thing in one sitting!!!
Well I think the title speaks for itself…… don’t you. Very original & then some. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !! HAPPY READING !!
Intriguing idea. Bianca’s character develops very quickly. I know it’s meant to be written in short episodes, but I wish there were a little more to this story.
I absolutely loved this book! The author did an amazing job with the descriptions of the location, i was able to see it all on my mind. What did I like about Bianca, the fact that enough though she’s in a bad place she lets her inner fighter come out. I love seeing her grow into stronger version with each chapter. Can’t wait for the next installment to see where or what comes of this thing with Nyro.
Ingrid Seymour’s brand new Vampire Court series is guaranteed to grip you from the start and leave you wanting to more! I love how she’s decided to tell the story from two points of view in separate novella installments. Book 1 begins with Bianca’s story. She’s upper class, but not overly uppity. In fact, she has a big heart and a lot of fire. She also takes notice of a thief and approaches him, which leads to an interesting confrontation. Her courage gets put to the test when she faces a horror that no young lady should ever have to witness and learns a startling truth. Her sense of justice propels her on a dangerous path, but she won’t give up easily. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
I received an eARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is just fantastic! An amazing vampire world built by this author with fantastic characters and an intriguing and interesting storyline and I just love Bianca. Hooked from the first chapter this is filled with danger, suspense and twists and turns and once finished you will definitely want the next instalment!
Great world building. Set in a world where the city was laid out like a chess board. The White Queen on one end and the Black King at the other. It’s a very interesting setting. There were white and black squares throughout the city, each indicating the jurisdiction of either royal who were vampires. Bianca found herself very much alone after the Black King came and took her companion, Talyssa, a Trove, which is a person with a specific type of blood the vampire royalty needed. Then her father was killed by the Black King for harboring a Trove and gambling away all his property and investments. This left Bianca with the only choice she could think of, join the White Queen’s guards and hopefully rise through the ranks. This was a great beginning to a potentially interesting and intriguing series. I’m ready for the next book in this series.
This was a very different take on a vampire world . There was so much intrigue and surprises throughout the story I read it in one sitting. I enjoyed the MC and how spunky she was. I can’t wait for the next installment in the series.
I just binge read White Pawn and Black Pawn, the first two books in Ingrid Seymour’s Vampire Court and all I can say is that I’m deeply disturbed that I have to wait until May 2 for the next two books to come out. This truly is the addicting fantasy series promised by its publisher. Bianca and Nyro are superb leading characters and Acedrex, the city built by the author as the setting for these books, with its ruling Vampire Court, White Queen and the Black King, is fantastic. Add in the concept of “Trove” who have blood that is so powerful it allows vampires to stroll in the sunlight, the blood-slavery for known Troves (and resulting need to hide being discovered as one), as well as the general intrigues and passions of any Court, magnified for Vampires, and you’ve got a recipe that was bound to succeed. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. These books definitely deserve it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the series is most definitely one to read, and its first two books are easy to highly recommend.
