The story that kicked off the international #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series is NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE! St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, … been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

Really like this book. I saw the movie when it first came out in theaters, so like 2014, and really enjoyed it. Since then I have been meaning to start this series and have finally had the time. The movie was great to me, but the book is even better. There are always more details and more things going on in the books than in a movie and I loved every part of this book; except for the fact that Rose is annoying! She was snarky and sarcastic and cool in the movie, but it got old real fast in the book. People badger her about acting young and not being mature and she continuously proves them right! She is very petty, and unfortunately, this behavior continued through book 3. That is why I give it 4 stars!!!
This book is the beginning of an(I hope) amazing series. The movie did a good job but reading the books you get more insight to Lissa and Rose’s relationship. Its definitely fantasy, there’s vampires, evil vampires, and of course some romance. If you like any of those read this book
